Sorry for the unnotified move. I have not yet updated it with review comments.
And forgive the bare looks of the site...:-(

Have you tried it with kernel 2.6.7 that slack 10.0 has shipped? You might be
in for some debugging in there..

Thanks for the correction, I understand now.

I bought the December issue of PCQuest which also contains a DVD with
Debian Sarge. Is this the same version as Pranab is offerening? If
it is then is there a lot more sofware on the 9 ISO's (binaries)
than on the PCQ DVD? I looked in the DVD and could not find
information about which release it is - other than "sarge".

So is it possible to install it since one of the ISO's is corrupted? I
am not just curious, I have been keen on getting Debian to install for
quite a long time.

I had not installed the stable version (woody r1) since I understood that
it lagged far behind other distros (I don't mean to put it down, maybe
that was just my ignorance) and I had a very limited internet
connection. I now have a second (internet only) telephone line and I
feel much more comfortable tackling debian since I now have some years
of linux experience. One of the first distro's I tried to install was
Debian potato about four years ago, but I never got it to work. Gus.

It's a slightly old snapshot of sarge. I guess it has the first 8-9
cd's. I have the 25th December snapshot. The packages are newer. For eg,
the PCQ dvd has Firefox 0.9, Thunderbird 0.8 and Evolution 1.4.3. The
set I have has Firefox 1.0, Thunderbird 0.9 and Evolution 2.0.3. Btw,
the sarge base + standard has now been frozen.

Are you sure you have sarge? Because my set has 15 binary cd's.

I guess you can just install the base system and then apt-get install
the packages you need

Try sarge. Definitely worth a shot. It's a far cry from woody.

Hmm,
So who has the bleeding edge one ? Since I want the latest one (
which also have gnome 2.8.x )
Pranav has agreed to burn his set for me. If ur one is more latest
maybe I can ask him to not to burn , if u can burn me the latest. ( I
typically wanted the ISO's themselves, to try making a local
repository & also burn CDs later if needed ).

Sorry for the cc's but realized my plug mosts are getting delayed due
to moderation!.

My set has Gnome 2.8.1. My set is either with Sudhanwa sir or dexter. I
think Dexter was going to make the iso's.

The set that Kaustubh has/had is fine. At least 'apt-cdrom' add worked
on all of them. And the second one is certainly not bad. I installed
something from that CD.

Ok. so you copy it (just chk with pranav if he hasnt already - Pranav
you dont make copies if you havent started yet! Let Sudhanwa make
them).
I want the ISO's itself on CDs (with md5sums), so i can keep a backup
