Hi:

I just downloaded version 4 however, haven't had the chance to play with it
yet. Sounds like its going to be one hell of a challenge.
I just hope I can get it up and running so I can finally get away from
winamp.
Will be standing by for more reviews and some of my own this weekend.

Can you provide a website so I can test this for you. See with Replay AV 8
one can use the URL Finder tool. You run this tool first then go to your
browser like IE 7 and play the stream. Then stop the stream and go back to
the URL Finder tool and see the actual embedded/hidden stream URL address or
addresses and add these streams to Replay AV as a show/station and you can
record it. Mike Pietruk and others can tell you more on this fabulous tool.

You wrote:
Actually, I have Total Recorder, and one of the rather frustrating
issues I have with it, is its inability to record JAVA script
directly. I can record using the software driver, if I remember
correctly, but while doing so, I cannot mute the output from the
stream. If I could only find a way to record these streams and not
have to have the output coming through my speakers, I would have it
made. Please don't suggest turning down my speakers, for obvious
reasons . Any ideas. And Yes, I would like to know if Replay AV is
able to do this with greater ease.

By any chance do you also have winamp installed on that PC? If so, this
could be the reason you are getting this download dialog box. At least this

Re: Starting an internet radio station.

2006-02-08 Thread Reese
Hi:

Best to go with winamp and the pluggins to start your radio broadcast. I
did use live365's software and didn't find it very accessible with JFW.
And then decide if you are going to stream live or upload your content to a
server for automation broadcasting. I tried it both ways and for me, I
prefer live broadcasting.
Hope this gets you started.

Unable to Rip Tracks with Winamp

2013-05-25 Thread Evan Reese
Hey Guys,

I installed Winamp Pro version 5.622 on my Fiancé's Windows 7 machine running
JAWS 13. It's working pretty well, but something weird happens when we try to
rip a CD. When we hit the Rip button, the CD starts playing. Then, when we hit
the Rip All Tracks button, it brings up an error message saying that it's
unable to rip track 1 because it is unable to find the decoder.

Anybody know what might be going on here and how to fix it? I've got the same
version here on my Vista Home Premium machine using Window Eyes 8.2 and it
works the way it should when I rip a CD.

Thanks for any advice.

jack work in stereo. Some split a stereo signal into two mono signals. I
wanted to have the stereo option. I finally found one that reviewers say
actually works in stereo for both inputs. We'll see when I get it.

Re: Looking for a Specific Type of Connector

2013-09-08 Thread Evan Reese

Hi Bud,
That is exactly right, two stereo male plugs into one stereo female plug. I
don't necessarily need that, but I want the option. My main purpose is
because I scan a lot of books for Bookshare, and I want to plug one male
jack into my computer, so I can hear what K1000 is doing, and plug the other
male jack into my Book Sense so I can read BARD books while I'm scanning and
hear both on my headphones. Neither one of those needs stereo input, but
nevertheless, I may want to listen to stereo music from my computer while
I'm scanning and reading, or whatever. I think it's just better to have the
stereo option.

Glad you found something. If it doesn't work let me know. I guess what
you want is two stereo male plugs terminating in a female stereo with both
stereos coming through in paralell.

Yup, that is exactly what I am looking for and I found one on Amazon for
$2.39, and free shipping. Had to make sure it was stereo though, as the
first y cable I ffound just merged left and right channels into one female
jack. But reading some reviews assured me that the one I ordered has stereo

Hi,

I didn't catch the original request. I purchased a Y-cable from Radio
shack

last year. It has 2 stereo mail jacks connecting to 1 female stereo jack.
So, I can connect 2 stereo audio sources to my head phones. For example,
I

can connect my Bookport Plus to one side and my pc to the other and listen
to both with my headphones.

Don't know if this is what you are looking for...But, it is an option.

I agree with Ken. Although what you need is a two in one out
mixer. A headphone amplifier most likely will have one input
and two or more outputs.

Your idea of having an adaptor with two inputs and one output
might work, but it could damage one or both pieces of equipment.

Hi, It's because the outputs will not be the same in each
device.
If you turn both of them on and loading the output of one divice will be
ok, bacause it was made for that impedance match.

The other device might not match those phones.

Like I said one output can feed two inputs, The other way where two
outputs feeding the same load is not alwayse going to work.
That's why I sugested the earphone amp. or if you need to have two
outputs driving one earphone a small mixer is the best way.

The little sampson mixers around $50 are very nice.

Yup, I had forgotten about that because I bought the Pro version quite a
long time ago. You can rip to m4a and a few other formats for free, but the
free version does not allow mp3 ripping. The Pro version cost me $20. Also,
the free version limits ripping to 8x, whereas the Pro version allows
unlimited ripping speed.

Hi there. As was kindly suggested earlier in this thread, I have taken a
look at Station Playlist and it looks like an amazing automation package, at
least according to the testimonials posted on their website. I didn't see a
lot of software description by the developers themselves, but maybe I was
looking in the wrong place.

The information that I could find on Station Playlist lead to the following
concern. Since I will be recording a show and delivering it to subscribing
Internet stations in a yet to be determined format, how would station
playlist benefit me. I'm sure it would, as I've seen it mentioned here
before. But thus far I've been unable to discover how it can play a role in
my project, as I will be marketing a show rather than launching an Internet
station..

Undoubtedly I'm missing something. So feel free to set me straight. Any
thoughts are welcomed and appreciated.

Re: ITunes Player

2013-11-21 Thread Evan Reese

Well, I'm not in a position to be able to use an "audio system." My PC and
the headphones I use to listen to music are my audio system. So the only
bass and treble controls I have are in whatever player I use to play music.
Hence my concern with an equalizer.

I do intend to check out iTunes at some point. I've heard many good things
about it, but I'm in no hurry. Unless some new audio format comes along with
content that I really really want to listen to, or I get a new PC with an OS
that doesn't support Winamp, I think I'll stick with it for a while yet.

Itunes certainly has an equaliser though I'm not sure how many bands are
featured.

This is only me but the playing of files and formats and accessibility is
more important to me than equalisers, if worst comes to worst and you're
into that sort of thing then you can adjust bass and treble controls on
your audio system.

I don't think you understand; while these players may be accessible,
will

they allow one to do _all_ the things that Winamp does? Wil they, for
example, start listening to a file; then you have to stop in the middle;
will they let you go in and pick up right where you left off? Windows
Media
Player won't; at least as far as I know it won't! Can't speak for some
of
the others as I've not tried them! But this is my concern as I want to
be

able to start listening to a show and be able to stop it; then go to the
point where I stopped listening later on! If these other players will
do

this easily, fine!

2013-11-21 Thread Evan Reese

Exactly so. It isn't as though Winamp is just going to go poof on December
20. I will find another player eventually, but I expect to be using Winamp
for a while, maybe quite a while, after the updates stop. The bookmarks will
still work, (they are often the same as those for iTunes anyway), the
Gracenotes service will still work, so I can keep ripping CDs. I'm just
going to keep using it until I get a compelling reason to change, such as a
new PC with an OS that doesn't support it, or some new feature that I just
positively must have.

think about it mate, when wibnamp shuts down, no more winamp updates.
You'll just have to keep using the version you have now forever, or until
there's a version of windows that no longer supports winamp, and the next
version won't be out until at least 2015. I'd not upgrade then, until the
bugs are out, so another 4 or 5 years of winamp use shall be yours.

Re: ITunes Player

2013-11-21 Thread Evan Reese

Yes you can. I don't have iTunes myself, but I've been to sites that have
links to listen to streams that are marked iTunes and (often) Winamp, both
mentioned for the same stream. For example, you can set your Shoutcast
streams to play in iTunes. Sometimes they're mentioned in separate links,
but it's the same address. For instance, The Legend Oldies has a link to
listen in Winamp and another for iTunes, but they're the same stream. I know
because when I click on the link to play the iTunes stream, it plays in
Winamp, and the bookmark is the same address.

Shoutcast Server question

2013-11-25 Thread DJ Reese
Trying to automatically kick stream wrippers off within 12 hours.

Under configurations/settings/advance there's a setting that states, always
disconnect listeners after. I set it for 720 which I understand means,
disconnect any listeners who have been connected for over 12 hours.
However, I still keep getting listeners who go past this limit forcing me to
manually kick them myself. Any idea why the 720 minute setting isn't
working for me. This is shoutcast version 1. Thanks.

Audacity also has the multi-track feature. I just don't know how to create

I create such things for my radio shows using either Sound forge or more
