Re: Sound Editors for Windows
I really don't know what spoken word has to do with anything much, the question was about a sound editor and that should be able to handle exactly that, "Sound!". This brings up an interesting point, Sound Forge have a version called Sound Forge Audio Studio, that's the basic version of Sound Forge which used to be know as Sound Forge Express so I wonder if the developers of Audio Studio Recorder may consider changing the name to avoid possible confusion? . net speed question?
My wife and I are Steelers fans. When she is watching the game on TV, and I bring in the radio broadcast on a radio station on the net, I am about a play behind the TV. Hi, All! Thanks for all your help. I'm looking for a robust sound editor that I can "grow into" as I develop my skills in this area. also, plan to convert my old vinyl to CD in the future, so flexibility's important. Re: Sound Editors for Windows
One thing I do appreciate about the Goldwave and Total Recorder packages are the amount of support users can access, in the case of Total Recorder you can go on to their web site and read primers and tutorials covering all the topics you've mentioned. In the case of Goldwave an extensive manual that covers just about everything you can think of to do with audio recording and editing is available to the user at the touch of a button, it loads into your web browser so and is well marked with links to all sections. Matt, if you want to convert your albums to cd, I wouldn't recommend studio recorder. It doesn't have any noise reduction facilities kr click and pop removal while programs such as goldwave have these facilities. On Sat, 11 Dec 2010 08:58:37 -0500, Matthew Chao wrote: >Hi, All! Re: Sound Editors for Windows
Hi, Tim! Thanks for the tip. Will use something other than the one yu mentioned. I have GoldWave and Sound Forge; have to learn them from scratch, as I haven't used them in a while. Also, decided to get the Sony PCM-M10, as it's likely to meet my needs for a while, and it's a recorder I can grow into as my skills working with sound improve. Would really like to take it on the go, skiing, sailing, etc., so others get a "soundscape" of my world.--Matt. Turn your Mac into a dictation machine
Hi! Found an article in the Age Green Guide on Thursday which talks about turning your Mac into a high quality dictation machine complete with foot pedal. Why use this? Well the fact is - if you believe the article - a lot of people still record lectures or notes and prefer to transcribe them to be printed out later on paper etc. So taking the articles assumptions for granted you need a system on your Mac to facilitate this, a Word processing package is obvious but then you need a foot pedal and some software to manipulate your audio recordings. The article details where the new wireless foot pedal and the Express Scribe software can be obtained as well as other audio tools you may need. Search for Garry Barkers Macman on the web or email me privately if you can't find it. To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org

Sound Forge 7 upgrade to 10 pro
I wonder if it is worth getting the Sound Forge upgrade to 10 pro. I have 7 and am still running XP but may want to get one system running Win7 soon. Sony has a special on now so I would like to decide soon. Thanks. I know there may be some pros but I'm more interested in the cons, especially with regard to Jaws. Re: Sound Forge 7 upgrade to 10 pro
Hello, especially if you're running SF with Jim's extra scripts for Jaws, you'll still be enjoying great functionality. I believe that version 8 was the first one to introduce the shuttle controls, which run the audio file at a faster speed, which is different from Jim's scrubbing function. I use the SF function extensively, most when I'm near a point I want to mark, and I want to move back half a second and stop. I use the audio itself to gauge this. Anyhow, there are many features which have been added since Sound Forge version seven, but I just can't remember all of them. I've been a user of SF since version 4.5. I believe I even heard of another user who has been using version 6 on Windows 7, so you may decide to stay at that version. I'd personally upgrade to be current though, if you can manage it. RE: USB headphones
You should be able to plug the USB Headphone into any USB port on your computer and if it doesn't play sound through the earpiece, open the Volume Control and ctrl-tab twice and you should be in a list of sound devices. Arrow to the one the sounds should play through the headset. The other way is just reboot the computer and it should detect your USB headset and begin playing through the headphone.
