More on wireless bluetooth multi-media headset

2008-12-31 Thread DayStar Promotions

Hi again folks,

Please ignore my previous post on the subject of a motorolla H700
headset, What I really need is something wireless and I don't know
if the Motorolla is wireless, or even a good choice for my needs.

I am in need of a wireless headset for online schooling starting
soon. I don't want to spend more then $50.00 for it but would want
something with some good quality on both microphone and listening
aspects. As school usually is, there will be lots of online material
I must read,-and in my case re-read perhaps several times. Hence a
wireless set would be nice so I can maybe get up and exercize or
something while I'm listening to class materials. I really respect
the opinions of the folks on this and other lists and would be truly
greatful for any suggestions you guys may have for me to consider.

Thanks,

John Chilelli

Hi list,

Happy new Year 2009!

Has anyone heard of this particular blue tooth headset? Any comments
good or bad about it? Is $29.00 a good price for it?

Sound Forge 9 and a Dell Latitude 830 Running Vista

2008-12-31 Thread Nolan Crabb
First, may I just say it's good to be back on the list. I was a member
several years ago, and when I ran into the problem I'm about to describe, I
must admit to being thrilled and relieved to learn through a Google search
that this list remains viable and active. So thanks first of all to each of
you for being part of this. Now a description of my problem:

One of my Christmas gifts this year was an upgrade from Sound Forge 8 to
Sound Forge 9 so I could use the program on my new Vista laptop running
Vista Business.

I'm in the process of attempting to convert spoken-word cassettes to MP3
files for use on my Victor Reader Stream. My Dell laptop has one of those
Sigma Tel audio drivers, and it has one of those bizarre hybrid jacks that
when you insert a patch cord or microphone, you're forced to pick from a
pop-up list what it is you're inserting into the plug.

When I connect the cassette unit, I select line in when the pop-up list
activates.

Then I bring up Sound Forge 9 and attempt to make my recording. All I hear
when I play things back is whatever the laptop's internal microphone picked
up. I never hear the content of my cassette, and I'm not able to monitor
the sounds coming from the cassette as it records.

I suspect the sound card and drivers in this laptop are of such ridiculously
limited capability that I'm not going to be able to use Sound Forge with it
and have it allow me to hear the cassette both as I'm recording it and later
as I play it back.

I've checked the check box in Sound Forge that deals with monitoring, but I
obviously have some setting somewhere wrong.

I've looked at both the playback controls and the record controls in the
volume program, and I can't see anywhere that allows me to tell the laptop
that the internal microphone should be switched off.

So again, in plain concise English, when I attempt to record from a cassette
using Sound forge, I cannot hear the tape through my laptop speakers as I
would like to; when I attempt to play back what I've recorded, what I get is
the sounds picked up from my internal microphone rather than the data from
the cassette.

If anyone has thoughts on what settings either in Sound Forge or in my
laptop I can change, I'd be most grateful to learn about those.

Again, my thanks to the list moderator and its members for keeping this list
alive so that a slacker like me can run back to it after years of absence
when I'm having a problem I clearly can't solve alone.

Warmest Wishes for a Pleasant, Memorable and Safe 2009,

RE: Sound Forge 9 and a Dell Latitude 830 Running Vista

2008-12-31 Thread Judy W

I had to send back a dell because of this problem. I couldn't use SoundForge
or Skype. It is the sigmatel chip. The dell people acknowledged it.

Try to find a machine using RealTek sp I tested Acer at the store and it
wouldn't work. I have a Sager-Midern, but it doesn't have a line in jack.
Check Toshiba.

Hope this helps,

Judy

2008-12-31 Thread Keith Gillard
Hi,

I think your bang on when you state that the Sigmatell audio on the Dell is
your problem.
You likely will have to upgrade your card as I believe this is a known issue
with the Dell laptop sound drivers.

Just my own thoughts and others might correct me ASAP...Cheers.

Hello Sunshine and all,
I have heard of a program called Wave Pad doing that too as well.
but however, it doesn't use sappy 5 voices, but it can convert text to MP3.
Someone wanted a program that can convert text to MP3 that also uses sappy 5
voices, Open Book 8.02 which is the latest version, does use sappy 5 voices.

And it does a really nice job of converting text to MP3.
So you all may want to do some checking in to it.

Audio CDs containing text files

2008-12-31 Thread Donald L. Roberts
I am writing to inquire how to make an audio CD on which I
also wish to place one or two text files for track listings.

As my CDs are all home brew, the various CD databases won't
help me with track info which is sometimes provided by my
sources.

For a burning program, I usually use Nero 7, although I can
upgrade to Nero 8 if this is necessary. Also, I am
reasonably sure that my burner supports this feature. I
just do not know how to do it.

Thanks for feedback.

For $15.00 off Replay AV - the coupon code is: RAVBB

For $10 off Replay Media Catcher - the coupon code is:

For $3 off Replay Music (little coupon since the price is

For $20 off the Replay Capture Suite the coupon code is:

These coupons are just for you guys. I didn't publish them
any where else. And if you already own any of our products
and want to upgrade to the suite you will need to let me
know - since that will require a different kind of coupon
depending on what product you already own.

Well we really didn't do a special for Replay AV this year -
we slashed the price of Replay Music to $19.95 and if you
own a copy of Replay Music you can buy up to 4 other copies
for only $9.95 each - which makes great Holiday presents.
So that was our Christmas mailing.

Re: utorrent, need help getting started

2008-12-31 Thread nick danger
Hi don,

in order to download torrents check out torrent sites like B T junkie.com,
or mininova.oerg or you can do a google search on them.

While you're on the sites you can browse through the different torrents that
a available. Simply select the category you want to grab stuff from like tv
shows. the different tv show torrents will be listed. select the download
link and save it. Once you have it saved on your computer, open utorrent
then from the file menu choose add torrent. Select the torrent you saved on
your computer tab over to ok and the torrent will start downloading. When
finished, itt will be saved in a downloads folder created by utorrent. This
folder by default will be in the my documents folder. Hope this helps.

I am hopeful that someone on this list could give me some
quick start help in learning this utorrent program.
Although Window Eyes 7.01 is my screen reader of choice, I
do have access to JFW 7 if that works better.

Thanks in advance for any help.

burning audio cds using WMP 11

2008-12-31 Thread Alice
I use Windows Media Player 11 to burn audio cds. However, I have a few
questions about doing it:
How do I find out the duration of the cd before anything is burned onto it?
How do I find out the total duration of the audio tracks I want to burn?
How do I find out the total size (preferably in megabites) of the audio tracks
I want to burn?

What you might need to consider is purchasing a USB sound card with line in.
One which was suggested to me for use on my ASUS Eee

Try to find a machine using RealTek sp I tested Acer at the store and it
wouldn't work. I have a Sager-Midern, but it doesn't have a line in jack.
Check Toshiba.

Subject: Sound Forge 9 and a Dell Latitude 830 Running Vista

Nolan Crabb

Re: Text to MP3

2008-12-31 Thread tickpub
I think there is a POD cast on BCT site on the Dspeech. But you can do
it two ways. from your text editor, copy your document and paste it into
the Dspeech editor. To do this just click AlrF for the file menu and hit
new and that will clear anything and bring a new editing field up. Just
paste your copy there and use the tab key to move around in the
keys. You can go through the menues and find the key help list and there
it tells you which keys to use to do what?
If you have the sappi voices from JAWS, you can use anyone of these on
the fly. The main work keys are the F keys.

You can also insert a document by hitting CTRO for open and tab down to
get to the folder and file you want to enter, hit enter and that file
will load. Work it over, sometimes you need to arrange the commas and so
fort to make it bread better. To convert it to an MP3 you open the file
menue and go down to convert to audio and there you will be given two
choices. Just tab to the MP3 and hit enter a but first make sure you save
it to your file of choice.
Listen to the POD cast, it gives more detail.

Nokia n75 and Code Factory or Talx

2008-12-31 Thread JardataLearningCenterEmailService
Hello Nokia Cell Phone Users!

My wife purchased a Nokia N75 Cell phone for me from ATT this Christmas. Can
anyone tell me whether or not Code Factory or Talx speech programs work with
this phone. I think ATT subsidizes either one or both of these cell phone
screen readers. Also, I already have Mobile Speak for my Singular 8525 PDA.
Can I get Code factory to upgrade this one for a smart phone, which I think the
N75 Phone is.

Thanks for your help and have a Happy New Year.

Fwd: The ACB Radio Tuner version 6.9 now released

2008-12-31 Thread Steve Pattison
From: Geoff Shang ge...@acbradio.org
To: annou...@acbradio.org

Hi,

ACB Radio is proud to announce the release of the latest version of the
ACB
Radio Tuner.

Please note: The website has not yet been updated, but the download link
will give you the latest version.

This new version won't look any different, however it will now allow us
to
change the station lists in the tuner without having to release a new
version of the tuner. The tuner connects to our server and retrieves a
list of the stations when it starts, meaning that we can add, change or
remove streams at any time without you needing to upgrade.

People should upgrade if they wish to keep being able to tune into the
Cafe
or ACB Radio Interactive, as we are required to change our listen links
due
to copyright compliance and the current tuner will not be able to access
these stations for much longer.

You can click the following link to download the latest version of the
tuner:

http://www.acbradio.org/tuner/tunersetup.exe

The website will be updated as soon as I get a chance but I wanted you
to
be able to get it now.

Cheers,
Geoff.

Regards Steve
