Dealing With MP3s

Does anyone know of a useable utility which will let me pinpoint mp3s with
certain bit rates so I can erase them?
Thanks.

ripping with Nero:

I've looked at each component's title and I can't determine which I should
try looking at to rip files. I also don't see an index in their help files

are just a loose collection of pdf files. Any help would be appreciated.

If nero 8 is anything like its predecessors it should be able to rip tracks.

Which Nero programs to keep:

2007-10-04 Thread albert griffith
In Nero 8, you get to delete any of 12 components after you've completed the
installation. Which would be the best to remove? show time, ETC. I'm
thinking deleting those we don't use might cut down on clutter and in a way
make the interface more accessible by limiting the number of choice we'll
get automatically. Any thoughts?

Digital audio recording systems

2007-10-04 Thread Dane Trethowan
Ok, we've been discussing portable digital audio recorders, perhaps
those who are interested in this sort of thing may like to use our
friend Google to look up the Zoom H2 or the high end version, the
Zoom I4, I've just had a look at the specs and in several respects
you'll probably get better value out of the Zoom H2 than out of the
Sony or Marantz recorders we've been discussing, anyway the main
point is that the more devices out there then the better for everyone.

Hi Albert,

The utility allows you to rip files in the mp3 pro, format. There are also
a number of other available plug-ins that work in conjunction with the
encoder utility for ripping to wma, ram or rm for real-player, aif, ak,
flak, ogg vorbis, monkeys aif, etc. write me offlist and I can send you the
encoder and all of the plug-ins.

Hi albert,

If this is the demo version of nero, you won't be able to access all of the
help files. When I upgraded my OEM version of nero 6 to the Ultra version,
I was able to get all of the help files for every program in the suite.

Hi George,
It's okay, but only has 256 mb storage with 1 gig expansion slot or mini sd
slot. It's pretty easy to use for standard play, adding and deleting radio
stations, but I haven't figured out how to use timer for radio programs...
The internal harddrive is rather small at 256 or 128 mb, and the expansion slot
will only accept 1 gig, but I did see where someone used 2 gig mini on it...
Best Regards,
Cornell

Configuring an HP a1560n xp media center for Recording

2007-10-04 Thread Mike Pietruk
I have been spending the better part of today attempting to configure my
xp media center a1560n for recording with MP3 Directcut.
No matter how I set MP3 DirectCut or the settings on the record side of
sndvol32, all I get are blank recordings.
I feel stupid, but I am obviously missing something.
sndvol32 on this pc seems so different than on my older xp home machine.
Anyone with any guidance on this.

Problem catching a stream with Replay 8

2007-10-04 Thread Blackwell, Clifford
I am trying to record the high band stream for:

http://www.wort-fm.org

I am using Replay 8, the latest, Windows XP, Real Player 10.5 and Jaws
8.02173.

I've tried grabbing the stream while listening to the station and the
link does not come up. I've also tried using the URL Finder option and
again it doesn't find the stream. What might I be doing wrong?

Thanks for your help.

Information On Shoutcast

2007-10-04 Thread Tom
Several years ago Jonathan Mosen did a few Main Menu programs
on using Shoutcast. The programs are dated but I think they
will still be helpful. This link will probably wrap so be
sure to get all of it if you are copying and pasteing. When
you get there use your screen reader search command to search
for shoutcast.

Re: Configuring an HP a1560n xp media center for Recording

2007-10-04 Thread Tristan
Hi Mike,
Hmm. I have a Windows xp Media Center Edition as well. In run, are you just
typing sndvol32? To get to the sound recording volume, it is exactly like
this.:
sndvol32/r
inputted into the windows run box.

Another idea is to go into your control panel, which a quick shortcut is hit
Windows+r and type control panel. Then, go to sounds and audio devices,
select your default microphone there under audio tab and under the voice
tab. That should do the trick. Good luck!

Re: Ripping with Nero frustrations:

2007-10-04 Thread Kelly Pierce
Use CDEX or EAC for ripping. both are free and deliver good, and in the
case of EAC, the highest quality results.

In general, people often have many more positive experiences with
stand-alone single function programs than with combination programs that
act like a 100 bladed Swiss Army knife in the digital age.

Hi Gary,

To my knowledge, You can't rip a CD as one track in nero. You'd have to use
