Rockbox/iPod Question
Hi All. Okay, I did it...I went with a 30GB iPod (only because the 60GB doesn't appear to be made anymore), and have loaded Rockbox on to it. I have to say, over all, I love it and find it makes the iPod VERY accessible. However, I have a question that I'm hoping someone here can answer. I'd much rather use the iPod with Rockbox in Database mode as opposed to the standard Windows Explorer style...However, I see from the manual that it has to initialize the Database, and that I'm supposed to access this from the "File View" menu under "General Settings"...The only problem is, I don't find a "Database" menu under the File view. I find: "Sort by Case", "Sort by Directory", "Sort Files", "Show Files", and something that sounds like "Peg Cache". My question, I guess, is 2-fold...What am I doing wrong, and where, really, do I find this "Database" menu? Like I said, otherwise, I find Rockbox to be pretty accessible...And I must say, I found a lot of Brian Hartgen's information at hartgen.org VERY useful and would recommend his site to anyone thinking about an iPod. Re: audio on laptops
if you need a good sound card, especially for audio deal The SB Audigy 2 ZS for laptop is cheap and quite nice. it's a pc card sound card, so no USB glitch , because many USB audio interface sometimes have some sound drop due to the nature of the USB specification. if you can afford it, the Echo Indigo pc card may be even better than the Creative one, but it's three times the price of the creative. Re: i audio question
remember that the socket on the iaudio is a line in socket. thereford, it's not originally intended to use a a mic input. So yuo will need a battery powered mic and possibly a preamp. the Sony EMS CF 907 work well with the X5 for example, but anyway the recording won't be very loud due to the limitation of the recording gain you can have from the line in socket. Using Linerec in Winamp
Hello List! I've been trying to set up my radio station for talking. I use Winamp and recently installed the linerec plug-in. Whenever I am playing my station through winamp and do the Control-L to talk, I get asked for a URL. then when I repeat the CTRL_L command to resume playing music, I get nothing. What is the process? Now, I have "what you hear" set on my sound card; the mike plugged through a mixer into the line-in jack on the sound card; I have my encoder set and playing music; and I can't figure out what to do next. How do you know you are talking and broadcasting? If possible, could someone give me the step-by-step approach to talking on air through winamp (a simple 1-2-3 approach)! Re: More on Possible Accessible XM Radio
Hi All...Thought I'd make some comments on this thread. I'll admit, I haven't been keeping up with the list lately, but seeing this about possible accessible XM radios is very cool...As many of you know, I've been an XM subscriber for almost three years, and would NEVER go back to using terrestrial radio, but the thought of a more blind-friendly radio will definitely continue to keep me with XM, merger or not. I've also been an XM411.com member since July of 2004, and can tell you it's a great site. Ziggy and Ed run a great forum, and any time I've had issues navigating something on the site, they've always been happy to assist...For that reason, I'd encourage ANYONE thinking of buying XM products to support Ziggy's store at www.myradiostore.com. Unfortunately, I bought my receiver before I knew about him, and my MyFi was a gift from a friend who works for an electronics retailer, but I can tell you that my next XM receiver will come from My Radio Store. Personally, if they're trying to modify a current radio to make it more accessible, I'd like to see them do the Inno because of its storage capacity. Check out my articles at Associated Content. Very good article. Without giving away too much detail about where I work, we're going through smething similar with the streaming of our radio reading service...Other than us, I've never seen a radio station use DRM; many of us are hoping that we WON'T be using it much longer. I think this article shows something I've always found to be true with my friends; it's not just those of us using screenreaders who have difficulties with, and find DRM annoying...I think sighted consumers hate it just as much. Easy CDDA Extractor Problem
This one's really got me. I've been using this program since the flood, or at least back to Version 3 or so, and I can't believe I haven't wanted to do the following task in all that time. Task: Rip a CD with only certain tracks selected. In Easy CD Creator, I find a graphic which, when touched by the mouse pointer (JAWSCursor, if you insist) says SELECT. Further, there's a choice on the right-click menu if you right-click on any track for select all, select none, and invert selection. I have found none of these things perform the desired function. Audible bookmarks
Hi I've recently been trying to burn programs bought from the Audible site. They are 25 minutes long and so far I've failed to put 3 onto one disk. My latest problem is however that when I copythem to disk they are somehoware somehow separated into 3 sections each program. I suppose this must be caused by Nero recognising the bookmarks and splitting the 25 minute program. This I don't want as when the disk runs oover the join there is a noticeable jump. Has anyone a solution to this? Re: winamp library
I'm finding, if I use my JAWS cursor, get to Audio, route PC to JAWS, then I can tab...But initially, when I first launch the library, no, tabbing and arrowing around isn't possible. Hopefully, Jim or someone will come up with some new scripts for this version. I AM glad to see they included the Transcoder plugin as a standard part of Winamp (at least in Winamp Pro), and the plugin seems to work better than it did when I last downloaded it as a "extra" plugin about a year ago. Re: advice needed
Easy CD DA Extractor version 10.0.4 is now available and one place where you can download it from is at www.poikosoft.com . Here are the changes in this version: Coding Technologies AAC and aacPlus encoder v8.0. Sound quality improvements. Updated MP3 encoder to LAME 3.97. Sound quality improvements. Support for converting & burning 24-bit files Support for converting & burning files with samplerate > 48kHz (e.g. 96kHz, 192kHz) Added options "Create new 'filename (n)'", "Overwrite", and "Skip" to the Audio File Format Converter's output file handling ID3V2 "Cover Art" metadata workaround: If the ID3V2 tag of source file does not contain COVER ART image, the default image of the file is read instead Bugfix: ID3V2 metadata field "Composer" reading/writing fixed. Bugfix: MP3 VBR (lame)header bug fixed. Bugfix: Source files were not always deleted when the "Delete source file after successful conversion" was enabled. Fixed. Bugfix: Sound quality error in LAME 3.97 encoder caused by the C++ compiler optimization fixed. (now produces bit-to-bit exact sound quality as the official LAME 3.97 command line encoder) Bugfix: A bug in sample rate conversion fixed Bugfix: Burning an Audio CD froze the program occasionally on some systems. Fixed with the new MP3 decoder (old MP3 decoder had a memory leak that was causing the problem) ** Let a smile be your lantern of joy robert Doc Wright http://www.wrightplaceinc.net skype: talmidim msn [EMAIL PROTECTED] - Original Message - From: "carl" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC audio discussion list.
