Re: Auto splitting files. Goldwave?
yes, but you will have to do a lot of tweeking. Unless you just happen to know the length of the silence between tracks or what thres holds to set it can be rather time consuming anyway. What I would suggest is to look up that particular cd online and get a track listing that shows the length of each track. then you can set a cue point at each time point. then use gold wave's splitter, found in the edit menu. ** Let a smile be your lantern of joy robert Doc Wright http://www.wrightplaceinc.net skype: talmidim msn [EMAIL PROTECTED] - Original Message - From: "Jason Boston" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "'PC audio discussion list. Re: Most accessible sound editor?
Okay, but we're straying away from the point. The original question was accessibility, not preference. The fact is that if you get good at it, you can do every bit as fine an editing job with Gold Wave as with Sound Forge. Sound Forge has some features that Gold Wave doesn't, to be sure, it's a great editor. For the most part, as was said by one person, they are equal in terms of accessibility. Re: DC6, was, Audacity anyone?
Hi again Hank. With a file open in DC6, press alt+t, arrow left once, then arrow down4. That's where you'll find EZ Impulse Noise, which is the easiest filter if you're not too familiar with noise filter settings. If you keep arrowing down from there, you'll find Expert Impulse Noise, Continuous Noise, Harmonic reject and Dynamic Noise. There are help files which explain these filters very well, though I don't find those help files to be as accessible as GoldWave's. Re: Best mp3 file sharing program with JFW
Hi, In my opinion, BearShare is the best, with SoulSeek coming a close second. BearShare gets lots of results quickly and connects to the limewire network, I believe that's Nutella, so there are lots of videos and other stuff on there. You'll need a spyware program, AOL Spyware is the one I have, and it works excellent. I've also got Avast running, but these are standard precautions. SoulSeek has some rarer stuff, including music from other cultures, less duplicates and improperly named files. It's fully accessible with scripts, and has some other fun features that let you find new friends. RE: Another Gold Wave question
In Gold Wave F5 goes to the end of the file then starts to play it in reverse. You can then press F6 to pause, press F6 again and the file will start to play at that position. If you want to continue going backward press F5 and the file will continue to play in reverse. Re: Best mp3 file sharing program with JFW
maybe it's the groups of people, but I find soulseek to have the best id3 tag info etc. Now, there are newer users who are not as careful as the old school soulseek users, but most of the music I'm interested from slsk is underground electronica and euro music, so I don't encounter as many problems as you might. I will say this, there are some really anal old school soulseek users who have strict rules in their user info about how much you can queue. The one rule I do enforce is that if you don't share I will bann you. but there are some slsk users who will band you if your music is totally disorganized. It anoys me, but I'm not that much of a slsk nazi. Re: Best mp3 file sharing program with JFW
Jason, I'm using the latest version of the Napster client with Jaws 8 and it is quite Jaws friendly, IMHO. Much better access with Jaws 8. As far as the DRM goes, it seems it applies to Napster subscribers, who are very limited in what they can do with the music they download. I buy tracks and albums ala carte so am able to burn to CD, etc. HTH Norma At 11:52 PM 2/18/2007, you wrote: >Hi all, Currently, what's the best file sharing program that works >reasonably well with JFW 8.0 and a cable connection? > >I've used kaza lite in the past, but recently when I tried to use it I >could never get it to download anything. > >BTW in Napster's hay day I really liked that interface. Re: Another Gold Wave question
for me it added features I just didn't need. For example, when splitting a file I only need set my options once. In v.12 every time I would go to split a file I would have to choose the format type of how it should look. IE. ##filename. Once I set this in v.06 it stayed the same until I needed to change it.Otherwise I had no problems with it. Since I rip a lot of books that need to be split v.12 became an unnecessary headache. ** Let a smile be your lantern of joy robert Doc Wright http://www.wrightplaceinc.net skype: talmidim msn [EMAIL PROTECTED] - Original Message - From: "Bruce Toews" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC audio discussion list. Audacity Up & running on USB flash drive
I am successfully running Audacity on a USB flash drive here. It's a portable version of Audacity 1.26 and I found it on the site: http://portableapps.com/ Installation was a breeze. I was looking for a very simple editor and I think I found it. I subscribed to the Audacity 4 Blind list at freelists to learn and ask questions about Audacity. I am also successfully using VLC portable on the USB flash drive. VLC is excellent media player. Works right off a USB flash drive. Trying these apps on a thumb drive allows me to test and see if the apps are accessible or not. furthermore I don't want too much software on my computers. Let them run on the USB flash drive. hi guys, I'm on the look out for some good old song lyrics. I know, you can probably use google, but Unfortunately, when I have tried this, it comes up with single lyrics for particular songs, or search engines. Search engines, are the same, single lyrics. I'm looking for something like an ebook in txt format or something along these lines, Thanks, Billy Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Re: mad plugin
Hi Joe, And glad someone elsse is interested in the mad plugin. I've been using it for the past year or so, and noticed a little difference in 16 bit mode. Then I discovered the 24 bit setting and Winamp, got both mad and Winamp on the same page, and I've never looked back. The first thing you need to do is to find the now playing options in the preferences dialog box, and check the 24 bit box. Next go to the mad configure dialog box, and to the decode tap. Then look for resolution. Set your resolution to 24 bit. Then go to equalization, and link eq to Winamp. After going through all that, you should be all set. This thing really shines with mp3 files above 160kb. Give it a shot, I think you'll like it if you really give it a chance. If you need any further help, just let me know. I do have what I believe to be the latest version if you need it. Larry At 01:46 AM 2/19/2007, you wrote: >Hi again.A Few months ago someone mentioned the mad plugin for >winamp. RE: mad plugin
The mad decoder plugin lets you listen to mp3 files in 24 bit resolution if your sound card will let you. I understand that it presents problems in the display of ID3 tag information and the like, which is why some don't care for it, but the vast improvement in the listening is definitely worth it in my humble opinion. If at first you do not notice a difference in the resolution of your music, then make sure you have everything set as I have tried to explain below. Keep in mind that I am using the equalizer with the rock setting. I also have my midrange cranked up quite high. In high quality mp3 encodes, your bass response should really increase. Anyway, needless to say, your mileage may vary. Re: mad plugin
Hank, Go to the output tab in the mad configuration dialog box, and tab down a couple and you should hear it. I also have the enable internal checked Keep in mind, I'm not as technically minded as some of you on the list, so I would just encourage some experimentation with this plugin until you get it right. I did have some rather interesting experience with mad apparently conflicting with the direct sound output plugin. When at first using the plugin, I had no trouble, but after a week or so, at times I couldn't use the DSO, but after linking eq to winamp, the problem went away. And a couple of days ago, I had a Window-eyes sound crash, and had to reboot the puter, and after doing so, the DSO once again stopped working. However, the next day it mysteriously started working again. Why? Your guess is as good as mine Hopefully your listening experience will be just that much more enjoyable with this plugin. But if not, you couldn't prove it by me. Just give it your best shot. Larry . this is probably barely responsive to your request, but somebody will want to know that for U.S. citizens, National Library Service has produced rise up singing, the Group singing Sonbook, which comes n ten volumes of braille. It's downloadable by eligible readers, so though the file would contain some chord notations and perhaps melody lines that would be jumbled by the reverse translation process, lyrics could be usable even by those who don't read braille. Re: mad plugin
Hank, I have sent you a copy of the plugin in a .zip file, which also contains the source code. I am not a coder, but maybe you'll find it useful. I must also tell all of you that it is necessary to either rename or delete the Winamp mp3 decoder plugin in order for MAD to work properly. You will also need to restart Winamp. If this should present any problems, You will have to either work them out, or just forget it I guess . Re: Best mp3 file sharing program with JFW
I'm using Napster v. 3.8.0.9. As far as the DRM scheme is concerned, I find it quite liberal and it suits my needs, in addition to being legal. Reciva Radio
Hello Would anyone out here on the list have any experience with wireless internet radios? I have run across the Reciva radio website and player. Various wireless internet radio manufactures useReciva. I have become interested in one such radio made by Acoustic Energy. Thanks in advance. mad plugin
Hi. The only part of the instructions I don't understand is "link eq to winamp" How do you do that? Does this plugin do anything for mp3 files encoded at 160kbps? that is what I use and they sound good even without a plugin. unless my ears arent as golden as I'd like them to be. thanks, Joe.
