screen friendly wma editor

2006-05-19 Thread Marijan Janev
Hello Friends!
I'm looking for screen friendly wma editor. Last night I installed Blaze media
pro trial and discovered that editing functions are mainly mouse driven and not
screen reader friendly.
Does any of you have an experience with another wma editor which is more
keyboard driven and allows blind people to work independently?
Thanks very much in advance!
Marijan

Hmm, I haven't checked lately, but for a long time it said it couldn't.
Maybe they fixed that, in which case, that's great!

Replay AV Error?

2006-05-19 Thread Peter Scanlon
I got the following error when setting up the program. When choosing
and testing the sound card.
But I actually heard the test sound.

Audio Recording Method Test
No sound was detected on any available Audio Recording Method for
this sound card: SB Live! Wave Device.
Try installing the Enhanced Sound Card Driver (see the Support
section of www.replay-radio.com), or update your sound card
driver.

Do I need to upgrade Sound card.

I thought at first that it was a problem of having Total Recorder
running with its driver, but I changed to the SB Live card and same result

Ignore it. If you're going to capture the file from the station rather than
"record" off the sound card, you don't care.

decreasing speed

hi all,
can anyone suggest a program to decrease the speed of audio files but keep
the pitch the same? I'd like to learn guitar solos of rock music, but they
go too fast for me to get them in my head properly, so I was wondering if
anyone could suggest a way to decrease the tempo whilst keeping the pitch
the same.
thanks

Re: screen friendly wma editor

I'm assuming that editor converts the WMA file to WAV and then allows you to
edit and saves back to WMA? If that's the case then you could use goldwave
to do the same.

AV again

2006-05-19 Thread Peter Scanlon
OK, so now I have a new problem in setting Replay AV up.,.

I have been using Total Recorder, so I went into the Windows Sound
settings and changed the default from Play and reord through Total
Recorder, to my SB Live sound card.

Note I have an on-board sound set up for Jaws so it does not play
through the SB Live.

However, having doene this, sound now goes through C-Media on-board
card along with Jaws.

Will I have to totally uninstall TR, or will I need to re-install
Jaws with the set up to play though the on-board card?

Re: AV again

2006-05-19 Thread Dean Martineau
I can only share my experience as a former Total Recorder devotee. I
largely use a laptop these days, and the total Recorder driver did
once interfere with my primary sound driver, so that didn't endear me
to the program. If Replay A/V hadn't come along, I would still be
using total Recorder. Now that I use it, I haven't used total
Recorder since. Replay A/V does what it did and does it better,
because now when I want to record a RealAudio stream, my regular
computer operation is not bothered in any way, and I end up with an
mp3 file. With TR,k that wouldn't have happened. So in your place,
Peter, I would uninstall the driver.

Dean

txt2mp3

2006-05-19 Thread Brandon Hicks
Hi list,
I'm sure this has been discussed majorly on the list, but what are your
recomendations for programs that will take various types of files, like htm,
txt, rtf, that sort of thing and put them into mp3 or ogg? if the list mods
want, replies can be sent off list.

I'm especially wondering about a program I saw a while ago on mosen
explosion, I can't find the link now cuz there are wicked amounts of entries
up there now.
thanks

Re: txt2mp3

2006-05-19 Thread kevin cussick
Hi Brandon,

I have text to audio text aloud and yeosoft text to mp3 speaker.

I until recently would have recommended Yeosoft's text to mp3 program as it
turns text files straight to mp3 it does not make a wov then convert it.

But I have made allot of audio books from text files and I have found that
allot of the books if their above a certain size cut out you think you have
got the whole file but when you are listening suddenly the book stops just
as it is getting interesting.

I have went back to text aloud I hope this has been of some help.

compact flash cards

2006-05-19 Thread Joe Bollard
hi friends, i am now the proud possessor of the edirol r-1, it's a fantastic
piece of equipment, and the internal microphones are simply amazing, i do a
lot of high quality audio workand therefore need a high quality blind
friendly recorder, and this baby meets all my needs, just one question, the
flash card that comes with the recorder is not big enough for what i need,
so i went out and bought a compact one gig flash card, but it cost me an arm
and a leg, [and it's bad enough being blind without getting another
disability] seriously, a friend of mine called me tonight telling me that i
could purchase one gig flash cards on the net for half the price i payed
for mine in my local computer store, the two flash cards she mentioned were
"ora" and "scan disk" can anyone advise me as to whether or not these two
cards are any good?? it states in the manual that the edirol r-1 can cope
with a four gigabyte flash card, but it recommends using a two gig card,
finally, if anyone on the list is thinking about purchasing the edirol r-1,
i say, go for it, it's the best recorder i have come across yet, sorry for
going on so long, it's just my irish prattle, thanks, any advice most
welcome, regards from ireland, joe.

Re: compact flash cards

2006-05-19 Thread Lois Goodine
Sandisk compact flash cards are good. I use a 2 gig one and a 4 gig one for
a bookport. A place online you might look at to price and buy is
www.thenerds.net

You can order online or by phone. They are in Florida but have 50
distribution centers throughout the country. I ordered a flash card from
them on a Wednesday morning and it arrived the next afternoon.
Hope this helps.

Re: screen friendly wma editor

2006-05-19 Thread Monica Willyard
Hi. Total Recorder can do a very nice job editing lots of different
kinds of formats including wma, mp3, wav, ogg, pcm, and others. It's
very affordable and has been my editor of choice for around 3 years
now. There are hotkeys and menus for everything you want to do, so
almost anyone can get the most from the software. I recommend the
pro version because of its feature set, but the standard version
edits well too. Go to:

hi all,
i don't have a line in on my pc, however i want to record my electric guitar
with the distortion or whatever that's called, brain went dead. i can plug
it into the mic direct without going through the amp. my question is, does
anyone know how to recreate the effect of an amp so i can have a more rock
sound without having to buy atenuators or a sound card with a line in? is
there some effect in gold wave, or some virtual amp program or something?
thanks
