Module submission Mail::CheckList
The following module was proposed for inclusion in the Module List: modid: Mail::CheckList DSLIP: idpOp description: Check validation of list of email-addresses userid: HOLSTEN (Andrea Holstein) chapterid: 19 (Mail_and_Usenet_News) communities: similar: Mail::CheckUser Email::Valid rationale: This module will wrap an object oriented way to check whole a list of a mail addresses for validation. So it is a wrapper around Mail::CheckUser or Email::Valid. In Addition to these modules, it allows to define a person's name to every email. It can check, wether emails und person's names are in an unarbitrary relation. It's helpful e.g. to take a list of friends and their corresponding email addresses by a cgi-formular. Other useful names for the functionality of this module would be: Mail::CheckList, Mail::CheckUserList, Mail::CheckUser::List, Mail::ValidateList, Mail::Valid::List or Email::Valid::List. I hope, Mail::CheckList is a fair compromis between the existing namespace and the functionality. I think it's important, that Check or Valid is in the module name, because this module won't store an email address list, neither to send mail to an email address list. It's only to check to vality of the addresses and names. Question: I found two similary modules Mail::CheckUser and Email::Valid. Is there a common advice, which one should be preferred. enteredby: HOLSTEN (Andrea Holstein) enteredon: Wed Oct 24 14:35:04 2001 GMT The resulting entry would be: Mail:: ::CheckList idpOp Check validation of list of email-addresses HOLSTEN Thanks for registering, The Pause Team PS: The following links are only valid for module list maintainers: Registration form with editing capabilities: https://pause.perl.org/pause/authenquery?ACTION=add_mod&USERID=3d10_a647548161b29b2f&SUBMIT_pause99_add_mod_preview=1 Immediate (one click) registration: https://pause.perl.org/pause/authenquery?ACTION=add_mod&USERID=3d10_a647548161b29b2f&SUBMIT_pause99_add_mod_insertit=1
Module submission Mail::CollectUsers
The following module was proposed for inclusion in the Module List: modid: Mail::CollectUsers DSLIP: idpOp description: collect email adresses of users userid: HOLSTEN (Andrea Holstein) chapterid: 19 (Mail_and_Usenet_News) communities: similar: rationale: The module will help to collect emails of users. It stores (persistent) the names and addresses of users. In addition it also stores the name and address of the friend who gave us the information about the user. The time, when the email address is added to the collection is stored, too. This information can be exploited in two ways: 1. Create a list of addresses, emails can sent to. 2. Find statistics about the brave users, given us the address informations of their friends. So this guys can get a price or so :-) I'm not sure about the name. Actually the module stores and exploits the data of user's emails. But Mail::StoreUsers, Mail::Address:Users aren't obviously not the right names. Mail::CollectUsers emphasizes for what the module can be used. enteredby: HOLSTEN (Andrea Holstein) enteredon: Wed Oct 24 14:55:10 2001 GMT The resulting entry would be: Mail:: ::CollectUsersidpOp collect email adresses of users HOLSTEN Thanks for registering, The Pause Team PS: The following links are only valid for module list maintainers: Registration form with editing capabilities: https://pause.perl.org/pause/authenquery?ACTION=add_mod&USERID=4d10_2f853c9dd27ab0ad&SUBMIT_pause99_add_mod_preview=1 Immediate (one click) registration: https://pause.perl.org/pause/authenquery?ACTION=add_mod&USERID=4d10_2f853c9dd27ab0ad&SUBMIT_pause99_add_mod_insertit=1

Regarding Tie::Table
I have a few questions regarding the request for the namespace Tie::Table: 1. How does your module differ from Tie::DBI? 2. Table seems to be a very generic term, while your module does specific things. What about something like Tie::DBTable? - Robby Walker PAUSE: ROBWALKER _ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp

Module submission Tie::Restore
The following module was proposed for inclusion in the Module List: modid: Tie::Restore DSLIP: bdprp description: allows for restoration of ties userid: ROBWALKER (Robby Walker) chapterid:6 (Data_Type_Utilities) communities: comp.lang.perl.modules similar: rationale: Tie::Restore provides the opposite of the 'tied' function. That is, given a %hash tied to $object, we can retrieve $object by saying: $object = tied %hash; To do the opposite is not possible, however, without Tie::Restore. With Tie::Restore it is simple: tie %hash, 'Tie::Restore', $object; Note: Although I use hashes in the above example, Tie::Restore can be used to restore ties to any tieable type (scalar, array, hash, filehandle) Though this module is very simple, I find that I use it very frequently. enteredby: ROBWALKER (Robby Walker) enteredon: Wed Oct 24 22:02:48 2001 GMT The resulting entry would be: Tie:: ::Restore bdprp allows for restoration of ties ROBWALKER Thanks for registering, The Pause Team PS: The following links are only valid for module list maintainers: Registration form with editing capabilities: https://pause.perl.org/pause/authenquery?ACTION=add_mod&USERID=6d10_e557aa3d15cf8897&SUBMIT_pause99_add_mod_preview=1 Immediate (one click) registration: https://pause.perl.org/pause/authenquery?ACTION=add_mod&USERID=6d10_e557aa3d15cf8897&SUBMIT_pause99_add_mod_insertit=1

Re: About module
[Disclaimer: I am not a PAUSE admin.] On Wed, 24 Oct 2001 21:34:46 +0300, in perl.modules you wrote: > Hello I would like to register module "webtools" in CPAN > > userid: JLISHEV Please use the URL https://pause.perl.org/pause/authenquery?ACTION=apply_mod for submitting module registrations; it makes things a bit easier on the PAUSE admins. It also asks you for some information which is helpful in categorising your module. For example, what does your module do? Are there any existing modules that have similar functionality, and how is yours different? Did you discuss the module name anywhere previously? "webtools" is a very broad name. Cheers, Philip
