Re: Workflow: getting images of a particular date

All I can suggest is asking @WorkflowHQ on Twitter. Or visit the Workflow
website, and send them an email. They might not answer specific questions that
aren't tech support, but they probably will.

Re: Xcode playgrounds

2016-03-11 Thread Alex Hall
You don't need the Assistant Editor, first of all. That's good for opening
multiple project files at once, but I don't know how it would help a basic
playground. Once you type code, it should run after a few seconds. Any output,
or problems, will appear in the Debug Group inside the Editor Group. Stop
interacting with your playground and vo-right to the Debug Group. Find the text
area and interact (you may need to interact twice), then use VO navigation
commands to read the output.

Lost VoiceOver in Recovery Manager Not Sure If MacBook Air Is Doing a Cold Reboot from Scratch

2016-03-11 Thread Mika Pyyhkala
Hi,

Normally after booting up with Command+R you can press Command+F5 as
usual to activate VoiceOver.

Recently on a 2014 MacBook Air 11, I booted up in this way and used
disk utility to erase the hard drive. I was then going to use the OS
Install Utility, but due to most likely restrictions on my work Wi-Fi
network, it was not able to contact the app store.

Now when I boot up with Command+R and do Command+F5 it will not
activate VoiceOver.

This is the first time I've seen a Mac where VoiceOver would not
activate in this way.

Several times I've held the power button down for 10 seconds, and
rebooted, but VoiceOver will still not activate.

I've taken a picture of the screen using the KNFB Reader, and it
appears that is is booting up to the choose network screen.

I even tried to follow the instructions to do an SMC reset, but still
when I boot up, I cannot do Command+F5 to activate VoiceOver. I even
tried plugging in a headset, but it still does not work.

Has anyone encountered this situation where it appears VoiceOver
somehow gets disabled in the recovery manager?

Is there any other reset procedure I can try? It sseems odd that it
is coming up to the network choice instead of the normal choices where
you choose disk utility, OS reinstall utility, etc. So I'm wondering
if it really has done a cold shut down & reboot?

Best,
Mika Pyyhkala
@pyyhkala

We also must remember that Apple has admitted time and time again that it
tracks its users. The government is only forging a legal precedent in the case.
Both sides have every possible technological door, be it front or back, to get
any information from any Joe Blow, Jane Doe or whomever they'd like. The
government is simply vying for precedent.

Where will this end? I reckon it will end when Mr Trump becomes president
and he will say Apple is so and so even though he has an I phone as he
regularly seems to slag Apple off. Seriously, will he win or will it be
Hillary. I notice Mr Abama is not saying anything about Apple but Mr Trump is.
Very cynical that Mr Trump has an I phone which he says he loves but he slags
Apple off anyway.

Re: Lost VoiceOver in Recovery Manager Not Sure If MacBook Air Is Doing a Cold Reboot from Scratch

Hi,
What you're experiencing is Internet recovery. In Internet recovery, voiceover
will not work in the select a network screen. You will have to either get
sighted assistance using an app of your choice, or somehow figure out a
combination of times to press the down arrow key. Once you find your network,
press enter and then enter your password. Upon pressing enter again, you should
be placed in your recovery partition. Now go ahead and install the operating
system as you normally would

Also, remember to wait awhile for internet recovery to be downloaded to your
RAM. Sense the partition doesn’t exist on the computer hard drive it’s loading
all the recovery files from the internet.

Re: Lost VoiceOver in Recovery Manager Not Sure If MacBook Air Is Doing a Cold Reboot from Scratch

2016-03-11 Thread Mika Pyyhkala
So once I get the network chosen, and internet recovery downloads,
will VoiceOver work at that point?

Are there any other work arounds for this situation like booting from
a usb drive?

I should be able to use Be My Eyes, or my neighbor, or another
sighted person; but I'm just wondering what other work arounds if any
may be available?

I've seen this a lot on pcs, but never before on a Mac.

Best,
Mika

iTunes is all you need on Windows to get to your iTunes Music subscription or
iTunes Match, if that’s what you’re asking.

You need the “iCloud Control Panel” for the other stuff, like iCloud Drive.

RE: could Siri's iPhone voices finally be coming to the Mac?

2016-03-11 Thread BBS
I heard something similar to that extent from a friend. I heard that Nuance was
developing new voices for the Mac. One was called Zoey and the other was called
Aaron. That would be cool if the rumors were true. I just hope that older Macs
will be able to handle Fuji. A friend of mine said that me upgrading to El
Capitan on this thing was pushing it and that I should've stayed on Yosemite.
So I wonder if this thing will be able to handle Fuji? If not, I guess I'll
have to save up for a new Mac.

Re: could Siri's iPhone voices finally be coming to the Mac?

2016-03-11 Thread Ray Foret jr
Well, got news for yuh, Aaron is already on the iPHone. Under the default
dialect, you’d click on what Apple calls the “male Siri” voice. Actually,
that’s the newer Siri voice we got back with IOS8 but many of us thought it was
strictly server side until a jail breaker discovered that in fact the voice was
on the phone itself. It wasn’t until we got in to IOS9 that the Siri voices
(the newer ones I mean) were made available for Voice Over. So, Looks like
both you and I might have to spring for new Macs: that is, unless I really
really want to try pushing this mid 2009 Mac book pro in to the realm of Foji.
And you know what? I might just attempt it.

Re: could Siri's iPhone voices finally be coming to the Mac?

2016-03-11 Thread Shawn Krasniuk

2016-03-11 Thread Devin Prater
Aaron, yes. But Zoey isn't the name of the female voice. The female voice is
