Re: adium to read
Hello, Press Command comma to go into Preferences once you have the Adium window up. Then, go to interact with the toolbar and click the "Events" button. then, VO right until you get to the table listing the different types of events. Now, here's where it might get tricky. What you want to do, is go down to the "Message Received" event and expand that with VO backslash, or right arrow. Then, once you do that, click the "Add button, and in the menu that comes up, select "Speak Notification." I think that's what it says, I haven't done it in quite a while. I hope this helps, Jeffrey On Oct 10, 2014, at 6:06 AM, Walter Harper wrote: > Hello all, > How do you get Adium to read all incoming message automatically? > > -- > You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups > "MacVisionaries" group. > To unsubscribe from this group and stop receiving emails from it, send an > email to macvisionaries+unsubscr...@googlegroups.com. > To post to this group, send email to macvisionaries@googlegroups.com. > Visit this group at http://groups.google.com/group/macvisionaries. > For more options, visit https://groups.google.com/d/optout. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Hi Chris, My mac has 16gb ram and a quad-core processor. I noticed during the fusion setup process there were some check boxes. The one that was checked was easy setup, I'm wondering if one of the other choices would have been better. Re: Fusion problems and a question
Ok, just wanted to make sure you hadn't allocated all your Mac's resources to Windows :) Sounds like this was a clean install so you should be on the latest virtual hardware version. You can check that in the VMWare Fusion preferences under compatibility. On my Fusion 6 Win7 machine it goes to 10 so I'm assuming the hardware version on yours goes to 11. How much disk space did you allocate to the virtual machine? The default setting is to grow the disk storage as needed so maybe it's still growing that. My basic Win7 machine (Firefox, Jaws) takes 13.9GB. CB On 10/10/14, 9:16 AM, jeff `greene wrote: Hi Chris, My mac has 16gb ram and a quad-core processor. That 80 GB number is the max size the VM is allowed to grow. The 20GB number refers to its current actual size. Kind of like having a virtual 80 GB hard drive with 20 used and 60 remaining. Re: Bookmarks on desktop
The only way I could figure out how to make Web locations without using drag and drop was to create one in a text editor. I just open TextEdit, make sure I'm in plain text mode and then paste in the following text: "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd";> URL http://www.aol.com Then just change the URL on the 6th line to whatever you want and save it as something like www.aol.com.webloc. After that, if you open the file in Finder it should open Safari right to the URL you put in there. CB On 10/10/14, 4:34 PM, The Believer wrote: Thanks David. Re: Fusion problems and a question
Right, VMWare smartly only allocates actual used disk space. That said, if you suddenly add a GB of content to your virtual windows machine VMWare is going to have to increase the disk spaced used by the virtual drive file by 1GB. That allocation process is usually one-way. If you delete your 1GB of stuff the virtual drive doesn't shrink back down (unless you run some special process). It's a lot faster to save a new file in the virtual machine using already available space than to do that with VMWare allocating more virtual disk space. So that's why I was thinking it might have been initially slower while VMWare kept having to allocate more space. After a while vmware should have enough space allocated for day to day use and that overhead won't be slowing things down. Also, I wonder if Windows doesn't do some kind of drive indexing when it's first set up (like OSX). How to rename a mailbox
Greetings, all: I just added the email account for the college where I teach Music Appreciation to the mail accounts on my Mac. Currently, the account shows up as "Exchange". I would like to give the mailbox a more meaningful name, but the option to rename the mailbox stays dimmed no matter how often I try to select the correct inbox from the list. Re: How to rename a mailbox
It's interesting, I just tried to rename a mailbox from its context menu, but pressing VO shift M, while focused on the mailbox name in the mailbox list didn't bring up the context menu. But, if I routed the mouse to the mailbox name and pressed control and clicked the mousepad, I got the right-click context menu and one option in there was to rename the mailbox. Try control-clicking the mailbox name and see if that gets the menu for you. Re: Need help with amazon.com
Amazon appears to be making some bad changes because I'm having trouble with more and more screen readers. What I find works best is to press enter in the edit field after the quantity if I want to add to cart. If I'm using one click I find that using the roter to get to the button is most effective. But I do think they're making some changes so our mileage may vary. On 10/10/14, gs wrote: > This worked fine in the prior version of iOS. navigating tables in safari
Hi all, Is it possible to navigate tables by rows and columns in safari? I know in pages or text edit, one can just interact with the table and navigate that way but this doesn't appear to be possible in safari. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Re: navigating tables in safari
Yes, very possible. You use the same commands in fact. To help, however, you might like to enable "Group items within" for "When navigating web tables" in VoiceOver Utility > Web > Navigation. that is what I do. Re: Merging cells in Numbers?
To add to what Tim said (which was completely correct, of course), you can also merge cells from the context menu which you activate with VO-shift-m. However, whichever method you use, note that VoiceOver will not announce that the cells are merged if you hold down the VO keys to navigate; and VoiceOver will not read the contents of the merged cells if you use only arrow keys to navigate. This usually means navigating with only arrow keys, but if you come across merged cells you'll need to use the VO keys and/or VO-F3 to read the contents. Re: Sending Messages in iOS 8.0.2
Yes, as I said originally, the problem only occurs when sending messages from apps other than Mail or Messages. Sending messages from within Mail or Messages is fine. It's when I send from other apps using the share sheet (e.g. mBraille, Contacts, various RSS clients, Safari) that the problem arises. Based on Greg and others it seems this is a bug in which case I'll take the time to report it. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Re: Any free ways to fill out pdf forms
If you were able to enter text directly into the PDF on the PC, then you would be able to fill in the PDF directly on the Mac using PDFPen 6.3 and later. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group.
