Game Center issue (ios)

2014-05-22 Thread Jessica
Hi
I have a major issue with Game Center on ios.
I downloaded a game; word stack. I did not like it so I deleted it from my
iphone & ipad. When asked if I wanted to keep it in Game Center, I clicked
remove. It did not work, so I tried the process again but it still did not
work. Last night, I backed up & restored my iphone using iTunes on my mac. That
did not work either.
Any ideas of how to fix this? I also did a google search which yielded no
helpful results.

Re: MacBook Air Model Confusion?

2014-05-22 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

Try looking at the specs on the www.everymac.com site where it likes to break
things down really well and might give you some insight into a slight
difference that you'd be able to isolate. This site has detailed specs for
each model and the Mid 2013 and Early 2014 are right close to each other so
easy to compare numbers. You just need to expand on the MacBook Air models to
see their individual details. It's an OK site to navigate if you use the Item
Chooser and look for the word "air". That will take you into the primary info
part of the pages.

HTH.

RE: MacBook Air Model Confusion?

2014-05-22 Thread Tristan
Hi,

I just got off the phone with Apple a few moments before you sent your
message. Apparently the only difference between the MacBook air 2013 vS 2014
is that they now offer a 1.4 GHZ processor on the lower-end model, as
compared to 1.3 last year. According to sales and tech support, since I have
the higher-end I7 haswell processor I already have technology that they
implemented in 2014.

It seems like Apple was just trying to buff the lower end models while
lowering the price, most likely to get rid of more in order to make room for
a MacBook Air Retina later this year.

why they believe a firmware fix will solve this issue. If both the Serial

Pairing the Logitech 811

2014-05-22 Thread Deb Lewis
Good Morning:
I just got the Logitech 811 keyboard and want to pair it with my
stuff. I see where to plug in the cable for charging, where to turn on
the power and where to start the BT pairing. The one thing I can't
determine from the documentation or searching list archives is which
keys are used to select among the devices. The instructions say to
press one of the blinking keys to tell the keyboard which to assign to
the device. But I have no idea which keys except that they're probably
on the number row or function key row. If someone could advise would
be most appreciated. It's a beautiful keyboard.

Yeah this actually went better than I expected. turned it on and it
paired with the first device. Then I turned it off and paired with the
second device. I hadn't seen your message yet, but was able to bash
around until I discovered how to switch between the two. Made it
easier because it was willing to pair even without my specifying which
number. I figured it had to be 1, 2, and 3 on one or other of the
rows. It's so cool and will solve a lot of problems. I love my apple
keyoard but don't love hat the batteries are alwasys running down.

After you went to settings bluetooth and then powered the keyboard on did you
press the bluetooth connect button to get it in to pairing mode?
Next it says on the website that you have to select one of the blinking keys
at the top of the keyboard. I am guessing that this is the number row or the
function keys.
After this double tap on the device you want to pair.
After that enter the pin code then press enter to pair the keyboard.

Iphone 5 keeps going into recovery mode despite successful restore

2014-05-22 Thread Mark Baxter
Yesterday, while rock climbing, my iPhone 5, in my pocket, got put into
recovery mode. I discovered it when we got home, and went through the steps
and successfully restored it from the latest Icloud backup. Got all my apps
back, Voiceover the way I wanted, home screen set up in the folder structure,
everything except, of course, the data, such as BARD Mobile books, music,
pictures and videos, etc.

I locked it and left it on the table and, when I came back to it this morning,
it was in the same state of recovery mode that I had restored it from last
night.

Right now, the phone is connected to my Macbook Pro, and Itunes is still
saying, "Itunes is restoring the software on this iphone." My wife, Amy, says
that there is an apple on the iPhone 5 screen, and a line which would be a
status bar, but there is no progress indicator. My Internet connection is a
Charter Cable (max 60 MBPS) connection and is in all other ways working
normally. My MBP13 (2008 model but working fine) is running Mountain Lion and
the next-to-latest build of Itunes.

I do not understand why, after restoring successfully, the phone went back to
recovery mode, nor do I know how to finish the restore. Once I do finish the
restore, I am unsure of how to save the settings such that when I lock the
phone again, it will come out of locked screen, as it has for the past year,
working just fine. Can someone shed any light on this?

Thanks. Be well.

Hi, Jessica,

I can't find an accessible way to do this. I found a post that says to hold
down the name of the game in games tab, then flick left to "remove", but
Voiceover doesn't seem to work with this using the bypass gesture.

Re: a youtube downloader

2014-05-22 Thread Traci Duncan
Hi, this is what I use.
youTube to MP3 converter
http://www.youtube-mp3.org

Once you have your youTube url, paste it on that webpage and hit convert. It
only takes a few seconds, then your mp3 file is ready to download.

One thing to note here, when I use that site, I turn off Open "safe" files
after downloading. This way the files go into my downloads location, and not
automatically open in iTunes.

Have fun,

Has Yahoo Given Up On Improving Accessibility

2014-05-22 Thread Brian Fischler
Hey all,

Is it me or Yahoo really gone backwards as far as accessibility is concerned on
the web? They are doing a fantastic job in improving accessibility on the
mobile platform but as far as on the web every time they redesign the site
accessibility gets worse and worse. Try logging in or out of your account with
a screen reader and it is impossible, or finding where to edit your account
settings for some reason they make that impossible to find. Would love to hear
other thoughts. Thanks,

Editing notes in native Notes app under iOS

2014-05-22 Thread Robert C
Can one actually edit a note in this app or not under iOS? Not going
to use Siri.

It does not look like I can edit a note in this app. I cannot get
the cursor to a point other than start or end of the note. All I want to
do is ab able to add a line or delete one. yuh know, simple editing of
an existing note.

Sure there are other notes apps but I want to see if editing is
possible. I have Notes set to sync on the Mac and iPhone.

Quote of the nanosecond . . .
I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the

I think it can, provided the download from the website never changes its

in 10.9 since you can borrow Cocoa libraries), and the Numbers scripting
dictionary (cmd-shift-o in AS Editor).

iPhone 5 stuck in restore mode with Itunes

2014-05-22 Thread Mark Baxter
Itunes has been saying it's restoring my iPhone 5 for about 6 hours now. There
is no indication of any progress. Its software was up to date (IOS7.1.1) when
it went into recovery mode. My Mac is an older (2008) MBP15 running Mountain
Lion and the build of Itunes before the latest. Nothing seems to be working.
What the HECK do I do with this thing, other than blow it up or toss it under a
train?

type2phone question

2014-05-22 Thread Rhonda Hornbacher
Hi Mac Friends,

I have the Mac application Type2phoen installed. My Mac sees my iPhone and vice
versa. I am able to type in text fields just fine.

I am unable to use the arrow keys to move around my iPhone screen. I saw a
podcast in which someone was able to do this. Oh, I have turned on quicknav by
pressing the left and right arrows together and voice over announces quicknav
is on.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Rhonda

Re: type2phone question

You have to make sure that VO is turned off in order for the arrow keys to work
with your connected device.

Oh yeah, make sure that Type2Phone is the app that is in focus when you turn VO

You get ten free solves before they want you to pay, and I am not sure how they
solve captchas. However, it is really difficult to set up, at least it was for

set up once, but lost it after I reformatted my computer. Honestly, at this
point, I just grab a sighted person or do a screen-sharing/remote control

type2phone question

2014-05-22 Thread Greg Kearney
A much simpler and faster way to do this is to invest in an inexpensive
bluetooth keyboard. Pair the keyboard to your phone and then most of the
VoiceOVer keys you are accustom to using on the Mac do the same thing on your
iOS device.

You can buy cheap bluetooth keyboard for well under $20 now. really good ones
like those from Apple go for less than $100 but they will all work the same.

I think it sounds like the people who were doing a good job over year ago must
have been let go, it's to bad, as I have been speaking with one of their app

accessibility for VoiceOver on the iPhone side, but everything he has passed

It may be worth upgrading to Mavericks from Mountain Lion but for
some, like me, I want to keep using ML until I am ready. I dont want to
run into something that changed in Mavericks and think its either a bug
or I did something incorrectly.

When I updated a few months ago, all hell broke loose, with gmail, my files,
applications loaded horribly, iBooks was virtually worthless, and I got more
"busy" messages than anything productive. Not willing to risk another try until

Alex,

Could you write me off list at sb356...@gmail.com. I'd like to see if we could
work on this together and come up with an awesome script cause I have more
little scripts that may also be cool for college students and maybe blind
teachers as well.

Re: numbers & voiceover: moving sheets?

2014-05-22 Thread Nicholas Parsons
On OS X I've successfully reordered sheets in the sheet navigator with the
standard VO-comma and VO-shift-comma/period. I do this often enough, but as it
can take several tries I now always try to create the sheet in the right place
to begin with. Sometimes when using the VO drag and drop commands its best not
to be too ambitious and only try and move it one space at a time.

To move a table in OS X:
Navigate to the table and jump to the format inspector with VO-J;
Select "Arrange", jump to the last item and interact with the scroll area;
Navigate to position and adjust the X and Y coordinates as desired. You will
most likely need to inspect the size and position of other tables to know where
you want to place the table.
