Re: Bluetooth Speakers Question
Hey Ricardo, That's fantastic advice. I just tried it with VO on, and your directions got me to where I needed to be with a little practice should be able to remember it. Thanks, going to try it tomorrow with VO turned off, to see if I can do it. Thanks again. Problem with Itunes Match
Hi, I subscribe to Itunes Match which so far has been excellent. Currently I run ML and the latest Itunes. IOS on my Iphone and Ipad is v6. This week I amended a couple of the playlists on my Mac and created a completely new one. Now, the playlists I amended aren't showing on any of my I devices and on the Mac they are saying Icloud error against them. The new playlist works perfectly. Has anyone any ideas on how I can fix the issue? Kind regards Graham -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Hi, Why not just follow the prompt, and erase the music and sync with your library? You would just have to do it once, and after that, your current iTunes library will be the default library for all 3 devices. Re: Dragging and dropping a Mailbox to Favorites yet again
Well, in mavericks this has changed. The drag and drop feature, for mailboxes, at least for me hasn’t worked since I upgraded. What has worked, is the mouse down and up command. So mouse down on the mailbox you want to add to favorites, this is command, option, control, and shift plus the spacebar all at the same time. When you get the mailbox where you want it, then do the same thing to do the mouse up command. This has worked for me on both my macs so I know it works. HTH. Re: Terminal: VO and Alpine Mail?
The most important thing to do is set cursing tracking on in configuration... The default keeps it at the bottom of the screen, you want the cursor to move along as you navigate the file. When in configuration hit w for a search and use show cursor as the terms. You will be on the correct line, hit enter and it will be toggled on. Now the up and down arrow keys will go to items and reading the current line will indicate its function. All features of alpine will then move the cursor in navigation. Re: Dragging and dropping a Mailbox to Favorites yet again
Hi, Dragging a mailbox to the favorites bar has worked for me in Mavericks. I am in standard view though, and turned on full screen mode with command-ctrl f. Interact with the mailbox to be dragged. Command comma to start the dragging process. Move to favourites bar but don’t interact. I could then only get shift vo period to work. The vo period alone didn’t work. I had to restart mail once but upon the restart it definitely worked. Lisette On 16/12/2013, at 6:48 am, Kliphton --- wrote: > Well, in mavericks this has changed. Re: missing some mail. Is this still a thing?
Yes, unfortunately, Gmail syncing is still squirrely. Sometimes I get messages in my inbox that are a couple days old. It’s very disconcerting. I like to explore anyway, but if I can get Alpine to work for me in Macports with Terminal, I’m going to try it for awhile. Teresa On the other hand, there are different fingers. Re: drop box on the mac?
its in the advanced tab of dropbox preferences, under "change setting". it presents a list of folders in the dropbox folder with checkboxes to the left of each folder. those that are unchecked will not be synced onto that device. unfortunately, it is not VO accessible and requires sighted assistance. I have some residual vision, so I used the magnifier feature to magnify the list way up, then used my mouse to click the folders I wanted synced on my MacBookAir, and unchecked the rest. . Re: Facebook Filtering
Yes, I've done this. I'm pretty sure it's in notification settings. I apologise I can't go digging around Facebook settings to find the exact spot for you, but I'm sure with some tinkering you'll get there. Between the differences between the mobile and desktop versions, and the fact that Facebook seems to change everything every few months or so, the settings are probably not where I last found them anyway. Re: missing some mail. Is this still a thing?
I'm having the opposite problem. Messages I have moved into other folders or archived remain visible in my gMail inbox on my MacBook Air, though they appear only in their designated folder on my other devices not running Mavericks. I'm using a 2011 MacBook Air running Mavericks, Apple Mail and gMail IMAP. Latest Prizmo is relatively smooth
Hi all, I got Prizmo for Mac a while ago thanks to a series of promo codes they were giving out on Twitter. When I got it, it was pretty bad and not at all an efficient experience. I just did a scan with their latest update; it is still not perfect, but they have come a long way. First, in Prizmo's accessibility preferences, you can enable auto-OCR, so when a scan completes it will run OCR without you needing to do anything. Just bring up the window chooser, go to the "untitled window, new" item, and your text is there. Second, note that Prizmo breaks up text based on paragraphs, so you will have a bunch of text fields with one paragraph each. You may need to stop interacting with the first one to read the rest. So, is it Docuscan or Abbyy? I don't know, I have never used them. But is it better than it was? Most certainly, and the devs do take accessibility into consideration. The OCR percentage never used to be accessible, now it is; there did not used to be an auto-OCR option, now there is; the scanner selection list was barely accessible, now it works perfectly; and so on. Plus, it is only $50, by far the cheapest OCR solution for the Mac I know of. Follow @Prizmo on Twitter and you might see a promo code giveaway again this year. It's certainly worth a try. Plus, the OCR itself is quite good, at least in my limited tests. Dual booting on a Mac.
Hello everyone, This is my first post. My name is Daniel Hawkins, I have been completely blind for just over a year now. I just got my Macbook Pro last May. I have been slowly learning on how to use the Mac interface and Voiceover. Since my goal is to be an accessabilty trainer, I need to learn everything about technology for the blind. So what I want to do is dual boot or triple boot on my Macbook. From what I understand, Bootcamp does only one extra OS. So I was told to use rEFINd, to make multiple partitions. however I think learning rEFINd is a little over my head and I don’t know if it is accessible. So my question is, do you guys know a way to dual boot to Windows 7 and or 8, and maybe a Linux or two? If anyone know an accessible way, or a link that can explain that, I’d very very much appreciate that. Thanks! Daniel Hawkins - Posted from my Macbook Pro 2012 15in. Re: Dual booting on a Mac.
Wonder if you'd be better served doing VMWare Fusion to host all these different variants. There are some quirks with CapsLock and a few other things but the overall experience is pretty good running Windows in a window. Then you don't have to reboot everything and set up partitions just to switch between OSes. CB On 12/15/13 11:29 PM, Daniel Hawkins wrote: Hello everyone, This is my first post. Re: Dual booting on a Mac.
Speaking of VMware Fusion, you think windows magnification, narrator, or a cheap alternative commercial magnification/screenreader run ok in that, as I don’t think VO would be available there, much less Zoom with tracking. Re: Dual booting on a Mac.
Well, if it's for training then it depends on how they implement things. VMWare is supposed to be emulating low level hardware so that stuff should work. That said, if you just want magnification the OSX one might do what you need while VMWare is running. On a laptop control + two finger stroke up increases magnification while down decreases. I don't recall if that gesture is on by default but the checkbox to turn it on in OSX 10.8 is in the Accessibility preferences under Zoom. Re: Dragging and dropping a Mailbox to Favorites yet again
Thanks Clifton. Waiting until the next update for Mavericks as everything I have read about it hasn't been stellar, but will definitely save this away for when I eventually do upgrade.
