Re: Reading Word by Word in 10.85
It depends which application you’re using in some circumstances. With VO, you can start quicknav by pressing left and right arrow keys at the same time till you hear “quicknav on” and then use up and left arrow or right arrow at the same time to change to words, then use down arrow to go by word. Or the non-VO way in text documents is to use option-left and right arrows to go to previous and next words. You can get these to work on a web page most of the time by interacting with a text area on it. HtH, Teresa On the other hand, there are different fingers. Re: gmail?
The more messages you have on Gmail, especially in the all mail folder, the more problems you have. I had twenty thousand messages in my all-mail folder, so things were weird for about the first day, then settled down. It would be great not to have this folder exposed in my mail apps, though, as it still has a lot of messages, and I do have some syncing issues. By the way, if you don’t have the all mail folder showing in the gmail settings on the site, it just puts the same messages in your inbox over and over. Hopefully, this setting will be modified in Apple Mail to allow the hiding of the all mail folder, as it was previously. On Gmail’s side, if they didn’t have such a nonstandard imap interface, things would be a bit simpler. I think they have it this way so that messages can be archived and viewable on the site. Go to www.applevis.com and search for recording podcasts. I just did one on how to record VO and my USB microphone. I use Audacity, but the general idea is the same for any recording software. Re: gmail?
Showing All Mail shouldn't be too much of a problem in Mavericks. Even though All Mail is shown on Mavericks, Mail only keeps one copy of each message. It just adds an XML tag to the end of each file to tell Mail which folders/labels it should show up in. In iOS All Mail shouldn't be a problem as it only downloads the most recent few messages anyway. All Mail will give you duplicates on any Mac still running Mountain Lion, though Mail seems to be pretty smart in the way it handles these duplicates now. I never really notice them, not like in the old days when large numbers of duplicates would show up in the search results. Plus, if you trash a message in a folder, Mail knows to trash the All Mail copy as well. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Hi all, I’m a big fan of Launch Bar & typically, I use it constantly. serena
Hello All: Well, my problems restoring my computer are deminishing. The biggest problem I have at present is that I followed the directions to find the voice called Serena and she is not in the customise voices location. It is likely that she bit the dust when everything else did. An internet search revealed that she reside on the UK Apple site. When I tried to go there to get her back I was told that Safari couldn't find the server or some such nonsense. Perhaps one of the UK people has an idea of how I can get her back? That’s odd. When you go to VO utility, speech, customize voices, in the search field type english. Serena should be in those results. I had her in both Mountain Lion & Mavericks. Re: User notification center asking permission, over & over
It is one of those programs that can launch things quickly & gives you several ways to create shortcuts to perform tasks. Just a few examples: If I type a period, I then type an web address, only the name though. So type period, then amazon or google, then hit enter. That page opens. There are many search templates, and you can create your own. For example: I can begin to type goo, which brings up google search template. I then type my query and press enter. There is one for eBay, and I created one to search Etsy. I can type store, then perform a search inside the iTunes store. There are tons of ways to use the program. I know in my own experience, I’ve only scratched the surface. It is one of my favorite ways to shutdown; I just begin typing shut, and it is the 1st result to pop up. I highly recommend. ;) Traci On Nov 2, 2013, at 11:31 AM, BBS wrote: > Hi. Hi, here is the URL. http://www.obdev.at/products/launchbar/index.html There is a 30 day trial and if I remember correctly, it was $30? I’m not sure on that. Re: External Hard Drive Suggestions
i've been using an HD with 2 drives set up to duplicate each other. if one fails you are supposed to remove the bad one and the other will be duplicated on the new one. this procedure failed when my WD drive failed and WD no longer had one of that size! i wound up paying a technician to rescue my info onto the new drive (supplied under warranty) WD gives you 30 days after sending the new one to transfer your data. it worked well to save the data, but there was no financial savings. i monitor this group for my blind 13 y/o grandchild who uses a MacAir because the portable being issued by the school is not accessible. the keys are too sensitive and do not allow her to check the Braille overlays. art On 11/2/13, 7:17 PM, Ray Foret Jr wrote: Gee, only 2 gigs? Re: External Hard Drive Suggestions
I bought a LaCie 2tb external drive from the apple store. It is both USB and Firewire800, and can be used as an external boot drive. This model (2tb) is no longer made, but LaCie is good stuff, and Apple sells it in their stores. It's good to have a combo drive USB/Firewire, so you can use it as a boot drive if desired. For the Air, which has no firewire port, I bought a thunderbolt/firewire adaptor BTW: I have it partitioned into 4 partitions, one each as a boot partition for my iMac and MacbookAir, and two data partitions which I don't currently use. Help with Finder
Hi guys I finally got back into Mavericks, and that is the root of my problem. I can't use my Braille Edge 40 and Bluetooth right now and have to use it in USB. The other thing, and somebody on this list said they had this problem too, I can't seem to be able to use column view. Every time I do I get Finder busy and I have to bail out. But here is the thing that's driving me crazy and I want to know if any of you have figured out a solution. Since I had to go to List view, I can't seem to paste files into my folder. Yes I know you have to get on top of the thing, but every time I try to move a file into the folder I wanted, it said it was moved but it wasn't. I got it pasted finally by briefly going into column mode. Actually, what I did was to go to the desktop and choose the folder, which fortunately, I had an alias for it. When I got right to the folder that's when I went into column view to do the paste. So now what do I do beside write accessibilityápple.com, that is? I can stay in mavericks, and I will unless I get too annoyed by the busy. Regards, Gigi -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Re: Anyway to get mail to follow rules in IOS
Hi Use your mac. You need to change gmail on web from standard view to basic html view. Here is a link to a how to do that http://webapps.stackexchange.com/questions/24763/how-can-i-convert-gmail-from-standard-view-to-basic-html-view Other may fill in and add details or correct. No problem. You may place a check mark in step 15. it will filter the most of your emails already stored, but it may take several days to filter. That scared me first time from check mark this because it looked scarying wtih so many emails falling down from the net like an never ending river. In my opinion a filter option is a great tool to keep order in our inbox. Noticed that some have 3000 - 4000 emails after 3 days without checking the email. I like many others are using gmail. A very good email client. Accesible. Filtering using Label and filter. You can use the Mail account built in IOS with gmail inside Mail IOS. If you make a new Label or a Map(this is the same i.e..Label is an map in your mailbox list under inbox, sent, deleted etc). If you don't have an gmail account you ca register one first on google.com Don't remember exactly how, but it is pretty straight forward and not dangerous. Chose IMAP if it is an option between IMAP or POP. IMAP synchronize email between iPhone, iPod, Mac and iPad. If you want to use the built in Mail program in IOS you register first on google.com then go to Settings > Mail > add Account. Find gmail in the list.. If memory serves, you only have to set username and password inside the built in IOS MAIL IF you already have signed an account on google.com Making a Label or Map. 1. Log in to gmail. 2. Go to Settings > Label. Settings are in the upper right corner. A window pops up and you find the Label knob.Above the inbox there are also an link called make a filter and after above the inbox. Opening this, the same window opens. 3. Find the text box. Type the name viphone for the Label or Map(it is the same). Hit setup knob. Now you have a Label or Map in your list under Mailbox i.e. inbox, sent, all e-post etc. Make a filter rule. It is easy. Gmail is accessible and straight forward in this case at least. 1. Find the knob Filter in the same window above the table in a list above the table. Hit filter. Now we want to filter viph...@googlegroups.com to go into the Label or Map you made. 2. Find the knob "make a new filter". A new window with a table opens. Set a filter. Make search criteria. 3. Find the text field "from". Do not type anything here - leave this field empty. 4. Tab to "to" field Here you type viph...@googlegroups.com. 5. Tab to subject. Leave this field empty. 6. Tab to "cotain these words". Leave this field empty. 7. Tab to "do not contain". Leave this field empty. 8. Tab to have attachment. Leave this empty. 9. Before you tab to next step, be aware of that the only field you enter any text or mark is in the field "to". Tab to the knob "next step" A new window containing an headline called "make a filter" a table called something lile chose an action or command for this filter. 10. Tab to jump over the inbox. Place a check mark here. Very important. 11. Tab to mark it with a star. Leave this empty. 12. Tab to use the label. Make a check mark here. Very important. 13. Tab once to a know with a drop down list.Find the Label or Map called "viphone and hit it. Important: check that the Label viphone are chosen. 14. Tab to "delete it". Leave this field empty. 15. Tab to "do also use this filter on the conversations below. Leave this field empty. Very important that this field is empty. You can chose to check mark this step if you want to filter the mail you already have in your mailboxes. The reason why i did not recommended this is that it can take several days if you have 20 000 emails +. The emails will be filtered htough e.e. old emails. 16. Tab to "make filter". Finished. Now all the e-post sent to viph...@googlegroups.com will be sent to the label or map called viphone. This Label will reside in the last list under your inbox, sendt e-mail, delete etc. If it do not work, you have entered wrong address i.e. email address, period. It works. If you do exactly as described above. You will receive exactly the same 3000 emails as before, but the will be in the label viphone. You have therefore more space in your inbox for non list emails. You can do these steps for any list or from any sender. You can test the other options and delete those filters which do not works. Let us think about 8000 thousand emails. You can have 4 Labels or Maps containing 2000 in each. And only have 70 emails in your inbox with more private subjects ore none email list post. Take care 1. nov. 2013 kl. 06:02 skrev Brian Fischler : > Hey Ricardo, > > Of course I went to gmail in safari and go figure I open the rotor and tried > to find labels and filters and neither comes up when using the web rotor to > navigate links.
