Re: accessible spotify on os x? or alternative music service on osx
Yup it sucks doesn't it? Would love to use Spotify as a music lover but can't due to the stupid accessibility or lack of it thereof on the desktop platforms. Can't stand listening to music on the iPhone with its built in speakers and don't want to be strapped to wired or have issues with wireless headphones. Am hoping to get a bluetooth speaker as a Christmas present for myself so may look into Spotify after then. On 03/08/2013 05:28, Kevin Gibbs wrote: Actually, I'd like to know about this as well. Sending a group text on the iPhone
Hi, I know how to send the same sms to multiple people, but is it possible to save this collection of numbers as a group in contacts and send a text to that group next time. I want to avoid choosing the same 20 names each time I want to send the group text. I know it's possible from the Mac side using contacts and email, but is something like this possible on the iPhone to send sms messages? Thanks. Re: Accessible FTP software
I’ve seen a couple posts asking for FTP software. I wanted to chip in my 2 cents here. So I haven’t ever seen a fully functional FTP client for mac from a 3rd party developer. Ignoring accessibility issues they tend to be buggy. It is, however 100% possible to send files via FTP using your terminal (not sure that’s been discussed). Attached is a link with a brief tutorial on how to do just that. http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/how-to-use-ftp-from-terminal-to-transfer-mac-files.html On Aug 3, 2013, at 1:00 AM, Edward Green wrote: > Hi, > > Please could someone recommend some accessible FTP software for use under OSX > Mountain Lion? > > Many thanks, > > Ed > > -- > You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups > "MacVisionaries" group. > To unsubscribe from this group and stop receiving emails from it, send an > email to macvisionaries+unsubscr...@googlegroups.com. > To post to this group, send email to macvisionaries@googlegroups.com. > Visit this group at http://groups.google.com/group/macvisionaries. > For more options, visit https://groups.google.com/groups/opt_out. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. problem reading brf files on mac
Hello all, It's been a while since I tried to read a brf on my mac using a braille display. I thought that I should be able to open it in text edit and turn off braille contractions and be good to go, but for some reason that isn't working right. For some reason VO isn't representing the braille symbols correctly. Dropped symbols, such as the symbol for con or in have a number sign in front of them, as if they were the numbers 3 and 9. It mangles other contractions even worse. As far as I can tell, this is a VO or braille display problem and not just bad transcription. I can't actually navigate to the number sign in front of these symbols, which tells me there isn't actually a number sign in the brf file. I tried it with two files, a book from BARD and a practice exam from the National Certification in Literary Braille Test. Both had the same problems. I'm running the latest update of mountain lion with VO and a Brailleconnect 32 bluetooth display. My braille translation table is just plain english but the problem persisted even when I switched to UEB. Has anyone run into a similar problem? What settings might I change to fix this? Thanks for any help. Best, Greg -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Downcast on the MAc Busy Problems
Since I have been having iCloud sync problems with Downcast on the mac I decided to delete the app and reinstall it. Don't think this did anything as all of my podcasts were still there and the iCloud settings were all checked once I reinstalled. Now I am also having another issue as when I click on the playlist tab I get stuck in a busy busy loop that doesn't end and I have to force quit Downcast but when I restart the app and click on the playlist tab it gets stuck in the busy busy again. Any ideas? Thanks. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Re: problem reading brf files on mac
Hi, Greg, Go into vO Utility, Braille, layout tab and turn on eight-dot Braille. This should fix the problem. This checkbox only appears when contractions are turned off. Also, another reason contractions have to be turned off is that the file has already been translated. In the case of brf files from NLS, the text is all upper-case, so you may want to go to edit/transformations once you highlight all the text and make it lower-case. Re: braille commands and more
Yep! I'm thinking about turning the darn thing off for the time being. Just about everything I read is underlined, too-I think this is showing that it's highlighted, but it's annoying. Can I turn this feature off, too? Since listening to a podcast recently, I've learned that I can do way more input from the actual display then I thought I could originally, so am using the display more these days. Any help anybody can give, etc, would be great so I can use this more. Cait On 2013-08-03, at 2:54 PM, Paul Henrichsen wrote: > I have the same concerns. What does that status cell mean? Re: Sending a group text on the iPhone
Hi, If you've sent the Group message one time, then when you go into Messages another time, and look at your history of sent messages, you'll be able to easily send to that same group. Just double-tap on that message item and you'll be be brought to the list of previous messages that were sent between the various members and you can double-tap in the edit field to enter a new message. I use this method all the time to send group messages amongst my family. As far as I can tell though, there is no way of creating the group on the iPhone itself. HTH. Later... Re: braille commands and more
I think the purpose of the DOS is the show you where the cursor is. I've experimented turning that off as well. However, I find that I like having it on because then I know for certain where the cursor is actually located. The other option you have is to have a blank. That might be worth trying. And you wouldn't see the dots. I think I may have missed dictated. What I'm trying to say is the third option is a blinking cursor. I may try that myself. Re: braille commands and more
Les, How do I get the blinking cursor? I've just been playing around the braille section of VO help and didn't see anything about this? I'm using a braille sense plus as my display. Kate, I have the YouTube, so I don't know if it's the same. And my unit, this option is found under global settings. The three options are always out, off, and blinking. Re: braille commands and more
Oh, so I set that from the sense unit itself! thanks, I'll try that and see what happens. I finally got rid of the continuous dots 7 and 8 by just turning off the "dots 7 and 8 to indicate cursor, on" button in VO utility. this is good, but knowing exactly where the cursor is, like what character, etc, would still be good. Re: braille commands and more
Yes, I would rather know where the cursor is it have a turned off completely. I do wish they had an option which would allow for all six dots to be displayed as the cursor. For me, there was no confusion when that was the case with the braille note. In any event, blinking is okay. When you going to global options and you find the choice for how you want to cursor displayed, just hit the space key to cycle through the options. When you find the one you wish to change, Press the enter key and your choice will be saved. viva client (spotify on os x)
Hi everyone, Someone tipped me about the viva client on os x, an apparently accessible although rather basic spotify client for os x. I downloaded the vivamaster.zip but this is just the source code (you can find the client if you google for viva spotify then follow th elink on the spotify page that links to the project page and then go to the download zip link). I have no experience whatsoever with compiling sourcecode though and there does not seem to be a precompiled binary. Is there anyone hwo can compile this client so that we can give it a go? To the person wanting feedback on Kindle app and braille
I'mm using Kindle on an iPhone 5 with a Braille Sense OnHand from Hims. There's about a two second delay from pressing the panning button to the braille actually changing. I don't get this lag on iBooks so is it something unique to the Kindle app? Do people experience this sort of lag on other Hims displays? Thanks. Re: Accessible FTP software
I find Transmit to be an excellent FTP client and it is fully accessible too. It's a lot like FileZilla for windows in case you had ever used that excellent program. Re: Downcast on the MAc Busy Problems
I had a lot of problems with that too. I've been in touch with the devs and given them numerous logs. I've also had the program crash on me several times when attempting to retry multiple downloads from the download pane. In fact, you might wanna go into the download pane with Command-4 and see what's in there. Under ideal conditions, you should have no downloads pending. I like the program in general but I'm having too many problems with it downloading the same files over and over again and leaving a bunch of broken downloads in the download pane. I think I'm gonna have to put this one on hold until they get a newer version out there. This is proving to be too buggy for me.
