Good day, all. I would like to know whether there is any type of hardware, software, or combination thereof, which will allow me to access existing audio described tracks on DVDs. I do not have a television or DVD player which has a secondary audio channel. Is there another way to access these tracks on DVDs? Thank you. a question about Web visum
First, for the person who was having issues installing Webvisum, it appears that once you click the install add on link, a new window opens. In this window, there's a fair bit of tabbing involved to get to the allow button, which you press with the space bar. So, I got it installed now, but, have a question. I thought that pressing command+Option+f! was supposed to yield a list of hot keys that could be used. Well, no such thing happening for me. Oh, almost forgot to mention. After you install webvisum, and restart Firefox, a doalog will ask you for your user name and password. You need to tab from field to field. When you get to the okay button, press return on it. Strange email question
This is in no way an important question, so if I don't get an answer, I will not be surprised. Does anyone have any idea how many email addresses the Mac can autocomplete? To clarify, supposing you know someone with 5 different email addresses. Wout the Mac be capable of autocompleting all of them, assuming you've written to all of them in the past? Is one password worth the $50?
I've been debating whether to buy one password or not. I am very conscientious about creating strong passwords that have random characters but of course this does mean I have to keep a list of them somewhere and don't remember them all. So, while I know nobody can tell me whether it would personally be worth the money to me, I would like input from people who are using this system and maybe also from people who have decided not to buy it. Thanks. -- Cheryl May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to You, Lord, my rock and my Redeemer. Re: Is one password worth the $50?
I have this system, but don't use it because I don't understand how to use it plus I'm not someone who can remember numbers very well. I did buy it because I wanted to use it but I got stuck on the first screen and haven't had time to try and use it since. If someone could do a podcast on how to use it, then that would be very helpful to me. Thank you. Kawal. VueScan and Abby Fine Reader Express
Hello guys. I bought VueScan; I got the update forever professional one for $79. I also already had Abby Fine Reader Express. Anne, I went through the setup process that you sent me; I still have it on my computer in case I need to reread it and things set in my brain. Here's my question. Do I need to first open Abby Fine Reader before I do a scan with VueScan? Also, can I get it to start talking the can I've just done without going through the process of opening up the file first? Re: Carbinite, was: Re: Where are emails stored?
Chris, I have used Carbonite on Mac's and PC's… Windows XP, 2000, 2003 Server, 2008 Server, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8. I also have used it on Mac OSx Snow Leopard, Lion and Mountain Lion… None of these had any issues whatsoever, with JAWS Pro on the Windows side and Voice Over on the Mac side. I've never had an issue and find the control panel perfectly usable. Re: Carbinite, was: Re: Where are emails stored?
This is a bit off-topic, but, especially for the mac, CrashPlan may be a better option, and it's cheaper. In fact, they had an offer for a free year if you switched from Carbonite. Do your own research, but I found Crashplan to be a much better deal for me. Getting back to the topic of accessibility, their app does have some accessibility problems which I and others have brought to their attention. It is useable, but configuring backup sets and changing other settings is impossible with vo for now. Still, I feel that the need to have a sighted person give me five minutes of help does not outweigh the benefits of Crashplan over Carbonite. Re: Is one password worth the $50?
Hello everyone, In my opinion 1Password for the Mac, and iPhone are both great investments. The beauty of this program is that is voiceover accessible, and once one learns how to use the program is a great tool for password generation. The Tech-Doctor podcast in the fall of 2012 has a great episode discussing and demonstrating 1Password. Also, the recent iPhone update for 1Password allows one to type the letters “O” and “P” into the address field before a URL and 1Password will automatically open to that site and let one sign in with their credentials. The Program is great for not only password generation, but for storing other pieces of important information like software licenses, passport details, and credit card information; all of which can be accessed via dropbox. Hope this has been helpful. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Hi. I think Ripit will let you rip the audio from the file; but I haven't actually ever tried it. I saw it in the preferences menu, though. Re: Yorufukurou Trouble
When you start it, the focus should be on your main timeline (once you log in of course). From there, use cmd-right or left to move through your timelines (home, mentions, DMs, favorites). Up and down arrows will read tweets, provided Quicknav is off, and for all other commands, have a look through the dropdown menus, specifically the tweet and timeline menus. You will also wanto to open preferences with cmd-comma, go to the compose tab, and disable the username and hashtag autofill options. Re: Installing Webvisum
Ok, just out of curiosity, why will you never have twitter? I had an acount a while back, but didn't like the fact that you only had so many characters you were allowed to post in a message, so got tired of it fast. The only reason I really got it in the first place, was because I had heard that it was "easy," to get leads through a work-from-home business I'd signed up for, which didn't happen for me. I got tons of followers, from random strangers, just like of myspace, who just seemed to be following me because they found out I was there, but never followed them back sense they never seened to have much for a profile. So everntually I stopped using it because I pretty much found it useless, but that was just from my own experience. I usually a chat client called Adium that handles fb and all your common messengers, and it works really well. I think when you set facebook up with that though, you have to actually have a username aside from just your e-mail address, if you don't already have one created. Re: Facebook Chat with VoiceOver
I do facebook chats with either Skype or the AIM client; in fact, I usually use both at the same time for FB chats, since Skype doesn't make the "new message," sound if you're hovering in the message window, but AIM does, two it alerts me to an FB chat coming in to Skype (and AIM, if Skype should crash)… I guess this is killing one bird with two stones. • Mark BurningHawk Baxter • AIM, Skype and Twitter: BurningHawk1969 • MSN: burninghawk1...@hotmail.com • My home page: • http://MarkBurningHawk.net/ -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Re: Is one password worth the $50?
Thanks for this info. I just got through reading the new updated "Take Control" book about passwords and I've decided to take major action to fortify myself. So as soon as I can spare the $50 I'm buying one password! Right at the moment I'm implementing file vault on my Mac. I wanted to do it on my last Mac but I had already done bootcamp and if you are going to do filevault you have to do it before you do bootcamp apparently. -- Cheryl May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to You, Lord, my rock and my Redeemer. Re: Installing Webvisum
Just plain useless, as is Face book. Back to Webvisum. I got it installed. It's working; but, I need to know how to type in the key mapping. What I mean is this. I can focus on the button I want to set up a new hot key for, but, control+F6 is not going to work for me. I need to set up something like command+Option+F7 for the grab captcha button, but, I need to manually type that in as merely pressing the key combination will not work. So, would I be right in guessing that Cmd stands for command and Opt stands for the option key? Thanks. Hello Alex, Thanks so much for pointing me to your materials. Anyone who owns any BrailleNote product would benefit by visiting your site. I was immediately able to connect the Apex with my iPhone 4S via bluetooth. When I went to the files in which you described some of the commands that could be issued from the Apex keyboard, I stumbled just a little. I own an Apex with a querty keyboard, so I wasn't able to fully take advantage of the information that those files contained. Re: Pairing BrailleNote Apex and iPhone 4S
I recommend calling Humanware to be sure, but I believe there are problems with qt units. There is a special command to type using the homerow like a braille keyboard, which should be in the braille terminal section of the manual assuming you have 9.1 or later, but I don't know what would happen with corded commands. I have never used a qt device so cannot say for sure whqat can and cannot happen, which is why I say to call Humanware. Sorry I can't help more. Re: Facebook Chat with VoiceOver
Hi, Harry, You can use the Facebook chat in safari, but it's a bit tricky. I'd recommend using messages. Add your new account as Jabber, server name: chat.facebook.com, and put your username and password for Facebook in the appropriate areas. Your Facebook friends will show up in the buddy list, and you can check the box that says "text chat". Re: Facebook Chat with VoiceOver
Harry, I can't give any suggestion on FB or chat clients however, I use Voiceover exclusively with FB chat on the main site and it works well. It helps that each time someone starts a chat with you, you'll receive an audio signal. If you move VO focus away from the FB chat area and you're reading or writing something at a different part of the site, you'll always receive said audio cue letting you know person has responded to your chat message or that someone has begun a new chat with you. For the most part, friends start chats with me. It use to be easier to start chats prior to about a year ago when there was a list of every person online at the time. Each link was labeled a friend's name and you could simply clicked to activate any link you wanted within the list and a new chat window would open up right there with an option just below, I seem to recall, for when you wish to close the window. Nowadays, I still see the list of links labels Friends On Chat however to whom each link corresponds is not labeled. However, just before the list begins, there is a link which reads Show Sidebar. If you activate that link and move VO to the bottom of the FB page, there you can find a list of links with your friends who are online or whether they are idol but still logged in. You can move through this clearly labeled list and pick the friend with whom you wish to chat. When you click on the name, a new chat window opens and you can begin to chat. I hope that helps should you wish to chat on the main FB site with Voiceover. Re: New to Fusion 5
Frank, Sorry this has taken so long to get a response for you. If you have VMWare fusion set up correctly, and you're in your VM, you'll want to press ctrl+commmand and that will relinquish command to the Mac. I would either command tab out of VMware and then turn on VO or do your stuff you need to do with vmware i.e. setup etc. Then when you want to go back into your virtual machine, press an arrow or something or tab, and you should be back there. I think there is a keyboard shortcut to grab keyboard focus to the VM regardless, but I don't remember it because usually it just works if you are in the focus of your actual virtual machine. There's no real need to turn off voiceover, but unless you have keyboard mappings set to not map osx keystrokes, and if you don't use control alt much (if you are using Windows), I'd turn it off. Hope this helps, and let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. Ner On Feb 26, 2013, at 1:38 AM, Frank Ventura wrote: > Hello all, I just installed Fusion version 5 on my MBP. VoiceOver and HTML
Are their any good references/resources that describe how VoiceOver reads HTML? I've found that it works slightly differently to JAWS (surprise surprise). For instance, sometimes VoiceOver seems to read the file extentions on links, and it also seems to read the alt text on links like a help tag. I do a little amature web design like so many others and would like to know how best to create a website for VoiceOver accessibility. Thanks for any help. Re: displaying only Unread messages regardless of mailbox?
In that case I'm not sure there's anything you can do. You could possiblly create a rule, but it would run in to the same problem as the smart mailbox. However, the first time you create the rule you can apply it to your existing messages and this might work. But from then on all new messages will be unread and so the rule will apply to them all, unless you then deactivate it. I personally archive most messages I have read and dealt with, or file them in some other mailbox, leaving my inboxes primarily for unread messages. Otherwise it's just too difficult to find which messages I've read and dealt with and which ones I haven't. Re: Maybe a little off topic
Oh, you're trying to get the contacts from the phone to Outlook? I don't think that's going to work. You definitely can't get your iCloud contacts to sync with Outlook. You could perhaps export any iCloud contacts and import them into Outlook, and then sync them with the phone. Otherwise the iPhone just keeps two separate contact accounts; the Outlook will sync via exchange, and the iCloud via iCloud, but the two won't merge, update or sync with each other. Much better off using a Mac where your iPhone and Mac contacts sync seemlessly. It's brilliant. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group.
