Re: OT: Change.Org Petition Samsung Attack On Vlind
The missing point is why they are raising the case in Germany? Not in their own country or USA? I suspect their own country doesn't have as strong IP laws. They have lost a case in the USA against Apple, so are they thinking lets use a different country outside USA to see how it floats? Who knows what laws are in their own country surrounding accessibility? Hello Gena, Why would you want to use the camera on an i-device with ABBYY FineReader? Why not just use Prizmo on the i-device to perform the OCR? Hello Paul. I use Pocket Money by Catamount Software. It does what you need and more. I keep my checkbook on my IPhone and my mac is out of the loop entirely. It's very accessible with Voice Over. Re: Scanners or cameras compatible with ABBYY FineReader Express
Hello Anne, I guess it depends upon the volume you want to O C R. Using desk-top applications gives more power and options. Fine Reader is also very good. I can't remember which O C R engine is used by Prizmo. It may be Fine Reader at the back end. But I was just asking as I have a new Mac and when I heard Fine Reader was reduced in price. I purchased it but intend upon trying it with a iDevice before I look at buying a dedicated scanner / camera. I use Fine Reader via Kurzweil and as a stand alone program on Windows and hoping Fine Reader will make my switch that bit easier. Re: Scanners or cameras compatible with ABBYY FineReader Express
Hello Gena, I don't think you'll get a good enough image from an i-device to use with FineReader on the Mac. I use a Canon Lide 110 portable flatbed scanner with my Mac and ABBYY FineReader does a good job. However, don't expect all the features of FineReader for Windows. The Mac version is an express version and has no preferences. I can't personally compare it to the Windows version as I've never used Windows at all, but I know that many people are disappointed by the lack of automation when scanning on the Mac. The OCR engine for Prizmo is Prizmo's own, as far as I know. There is a Prizmo aplication for Mac, too, but it's much messier to use than FineReader. Re: Mac new user
Unfortunately that is easy! There isn't any! Maybe someday Amazon will decide our money is worth the expense they'd incur by making it accessible. The only Kindle that is somewhat accessible is the old Kindle Keyboard which when speech is turned on will become somewhat usable. However a sited person is required to turn speech on initially. Re: Looking for a good checking account program
Thanks, Sarah; but how does it sync with an iPhone application? I don't see a checkbook pro app in the iPhone store. One of the things I want to do is to be able to enter items into my checkbook when I am out traveling. I can do this with clear checkbook which is web based, and also with quicken. However, I guess that quicken isn't accessible on the mac or on the pc. I saw something in the description of checkbook pro mentioning syncing, but they didn't explain what this meant. They also didn't mention an Iphone app which would sync with their Mac app. I could go back to recording my entries when I am out then adding them when at home, but I really like the idea of syncing to my phone via the cloud. Also, do you know if checkbook pro will import qfx files from quicken in case I need to switch? But the syncing with the phone is the big thing if I can get it. Thanks. Re: Looking for a good checking account program
Hi. I assume that pocket money has a mac or Pc program as well as the iPhone app? I'm not to worried about check printing nor budgeting. What I want to do is to enter transactions into my registries whether it is the credit card or my checking account. I want to be able to transfer funds between one account and another. I'm not looking for this to go online and do this with the bank; just enter the information transferring money from a savings account to a checking, etc. I also want to be able to look at a specific registry to see whether an item has been entered into the registry. I also want an end of balance total so I can know how much I have to spend. I am using clear checkbook; but I'm worried as everything is stored on their server. If that server ever goes down, all of my info is gone. I'd like the ability to store my info on the mac with the main program; so I have a hard copy of that data to keep my own backups. Hope this isn't to complicated. Thanks for any info you can add. On Feb 25, 2013, at 2:05 AM, Paul Hunt wrote: > Hello Paul. I use Pocket Money by Catamount Software. Re: Scanners or cameras compatible with ABBYY FineReader Express
Hello Anne, I'm guessing that the only real issues would be around getting enough evenly distributed light. Which I'm waiting for a light box frame to be made. As with scanner scanning there's the problem of holding the print material flat against the scanner glass. After all, we only need 300 Dots Per Inch for effective O C R. I'm hoping to have 1 key scan and OCR. Also to export to Pages etc. Until I open the app I won't know . Re: Using facebook on a mac
Hi there. There is not much to tell. It shows content on an html content area. You navigate that as usual. You use headings to read your feed and it scroles nicely as you move, it doesn't jump back to the beginning as it happens with normal browsers. It does have some problems though. When you leave the interface it doesn't remember your last location. Some times, edit fields show as combo boxes. When that happens and you want to write something there, go to textedit or other editable area, type what you want, copy to the clipboard and then come back and paste it to your edit box on facebook. No voice over feedback on that. Nektarios. Re: Using facebook on a mac
The edit boxes showing as combo boxes is actually the way that Facebook codes it sites. To be honest with you, I'm not 100% sure how it works, however when you begin typing in that combo box you should be able to simply press the down arrow, with the know whether keys pressed, in order to select your option. Scanner to use with ABBYY FineReader Express for Mac
Just a quick note to all who replied to my request for information about which scanners work best with ABBYY FineReader Express for Macintosh. After reading your posts and researching the products that you recommended, I have come to the conclusion that the Canoscan Lide 110 is a good option; it works very reliably with ABBYY FineReader, according to Anne Robertson, and it is relatively inexpensive ($55 through Amazon). ABBYY FineReader Express for Macintosh and Hovercam T5 V
Hello all, I for got to mention in my last post that the Hovercam T5 V does not appear to work with ABBYY FineReader for Mac. I believe Erik expressed an interest in using it. ABBYY FineReader does not appear to detect that the camera is plugged in to the Mac, and the software that comes with the camera is completely inaccessible with VO. Just thought I'd pass that on. Re: ABBYY FineReader Express for Macintosh and Hovercam T5 V
Hi. I've actually gotten this to work quite nicely. I use the HoverCam Express software. The HoverCam Flex is indeed not accessible. The Express software should come on the disk that came with the camera. With the express software, some button labeling is required though in order to make the most out of it. RE: Looking for a good checking account program
Paul, you don't need a mac version of Pocket Money. A Mac version exists but it's inaccessible. You can work with all of your registers on the IPhone and get ending balances. You can backup the data on your mac and restore it from their. You can also back it up in the cloud so you're covered both ways. -Original Message- From: macvisionaries@googlegroups.com [mailto:macvisionaries@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Paul Henrichsen Sent: Monday, February 25, 2013 10:45 AM To: macvisionaries@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: Looking for a good checking account program Hi. Pairing BrailleNote Apex and iPhone 4S
Hi. I have been able to successfully pair my iPhone 4S and my Mac Book, but thus far, I have been unable to pair my 4S with my BrailleNote Apex. My Apex is currently running Keynote version 9.10, build 1031. If all goes according to plan, I will be upgrading the Apex to something more recent in a few days. Will I have to wait for the upgrade, or is there a way to make this current version of Keynote and the Apex talk to my 4S? As for pairing, I tried both and . I entered both of these values on the Apex keyboard. Any suggestions would be great! Thank you. Word Count in TextEdit
Hi, For those of you who were looking to use a word count function in TextEdit. Try this: • Go to your Utilities folder. (cmd-shift-u when in the Finder) • Open the Apple Script Editor app. • Paste in the following text. tell application "TextEdit" set WordCount to the number of words in the the front document display dialog "The wordcount is: " & WordCount end tell • Press cmd-comma to bring up the Preferences menu. • Make sure the "Show Scripts menu in Menubar" is checked. • close the Preferences window. • Save the Apple Script as Word Count" to your Desktop. • Open Macintosh HD. • Open the Library folder. • Open the Scripts folder. • Open the TextEdit Scripts folder. If one doesn't already exist, create it. Make sure to name it "TextEdit Scripts". • Copy the Word Count AppleScript document you saved to the Desktop into this folder. • Close all the windows. • Open a TextEdit document. • Press VO-M twice to get to the extra menus. • Locate the one called AppleScript menu and activate it. • Go down to TextEdit and over to the "Word Count" script. • Press cmd-tab to take you back to TextEdit and a dialog will be there announcing the word count. A few things to note: • It will only count the words in the front most TextEdit document. • If you don't like using the AppleScript menu, you can save this script as an application to your Desktop. All you'll need to do then is have the TextEdit document open, get to your Desktop and run the Word Count app. The same dialog will appear over your TextEdit document. Hope I didn't forget any steps. Re: Pairing BrailleNote Apex and iPhone 4S
I did a recording on how to do this. Visit www.braillenoteusers.info/media and find the section on pairing the Apex with the iPhone. Keysoft 9.1 will work just fine, as will the 4S, though 9.2 does make it possible to enter commands like space-e or space-o without keysoft interpreting them. If you have questions or still cannot get things working after listening to the recording, let me know. ABBYY FineReader Express for Macintosh and Hovercam T5 V
Hi all, The Hovercam Express app is indeed accessible with VO; thanks to Matthew for bringing that to my attention. The only drawback I see is that it is not possible to access the camera from within ABBYY FineReader Express, so creating a multi-page file from multiple images is consequently not doable. I had to scan several pages, making several separate images, and then I had to process them one at a time, using ABBYY. Of course, I could be missing something, so if anyone knows how to do this more efficiently, please do let me know. Hi, I believe its in Home/user/library/mail. The library is hidden in Lion and mountain lion so, from the finder press command shift G, and type in ~/library and press enter. New to Fusion 5
Hello all, I just installed Fusion version 5 on my MBP. Before I set up any virtual machines I was able to use VO M to get to the menu bar (Apple, File , Edit, View, Machine, etc) now that I have installed one virtual machine I can't seem to do that. Can anyone tell me how to change keyboard focus from the virtual machine windw to the menu bar and back and also how to get back to the virtual machine library? Also are there any tutorials on using Fusion? Thanks Frank -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group.
