Problems with Macappstore

2012-06-06 Thread Daniela Rubio
Hello:
A friend of mine has a very strange problem with the Macappstore. He just can't
install what he buys. All the Apps that he wants appear in the purchased table
with the date and all, but when he clicks install, nothing happens. He already
repaired permissions and all keeps the same.
So, he buys something and when he click install it says waiting and nothing. It
comes back to the Contence page and that is it. Any ideas for helping this
person? Thanks!

Re: question for all voice over trainers: trouble interacting with items

2012-06-06 Thread erik burggraaf
HI again Chris, It's OK to "tell it like it is", in a professional
environment. In fact, having people pay for my opinion the last few years has
forced me to take this more seriously and made me feel responsible to actually
tell it like it is.

It's all in your approach. How you say things is just as important as what you
say, most especially when you have to deliver bad news or help some one to make
an adjustment that they are disinclined to make. I take my clients to task
when they need it. When it comes to practice or hardware maintenance or any
other concern that is going to impact their ability to become successful, I can
lay it all out there for them and not wind up fired.

Have fun,

iPhone question

2012-06-06 Thread Rahul Bajaj
Hi all,

I have decided to purchase a new iPhone 4S.
Its price is substantially lesser in the U.S. compared to India.
Bu, if I purchase it from there, I'll have to use it without warranty.
So, should I get it from India at a higher price with warranty, or should I get
it from the U.S. without warranty?
Is anything really significant covered under the warranty?

Thanks in advance for sharing your views.

Best,
Rahul

Re: Mail Threads

Furthermore, after disabling the placement of newest message first, if
you keep threading on you can move up and down in the message list and
notice a treeview with collapsed nodes for the thread. Just right
arrow on that node and the neoldest message in that thread should be
up first. I forget exactly where I did it but I have all nodes
collapsed by default and further, I can hear VO speak the unread
status of unread messages because I have the preview pane turned off.

This is with latest Lion and the modern view in Apple Mail.

Re: raising audio in iMovie

2012-06-06 Thread Blinkin
Try pressing the letter I when you are on the right clip in the clip list.
This should open the inspector. From there there are a few tabs like
video and audio.
In the audio tab there should be some options that will help. There are
also options to lower background noise or lower music volume if you have that
going on also.

Hope this helps.

Organizing the mailbox list (Lion)

2012-06-06 Thread Buddy Brannan
Hi,

Wonder if anyone has any insight on this:

My inbox expands to have several accounts under it that I read individually.
Somehow, the order of these got rearranged, I'm not sure how. Now, the account
I read most often (this one,as it happens) is at the bottom of the inbox tree
view, but I want it further up. Does anyone know how to move the mailboxes in
the mailbox list around?

There is no WRONG time to interact, unless what you're trying to do is outside
the scope of the portion of the window you're interacting with at the moment.
To interact, press VO Shift Down-arrow, and to stop interacting, press VO Shift
Up-arrow. Just that simple. If interacting yields you no significant results,
stop interacting and try something else.

Re: Organizing the mailbox list (Lion)

2012-06-06 Thread Steve Holmes
The organization of mail boxes and folders in Mail is an interesting
challenge indeed. I while ago, I some how got some folders out of
wack and perhaps even into the wrong mail account. Anyway, I thought
things to be a big enough mess that I just deleted the entire mail
folder under ~/library but that would be quite drastic for your
situation. I also went through recently and reorganized my gmail
managed accounts and folders and it is all good now. One thing you
might be able to do is cut/paste; I haven't tried this for sure but it
or drag and drop might be a thing to try. The bigger question is how
the folder got moved in the first place. I can't see why Mail would
just up and do something like that. Also check the current status of
expand and collapse of folders between different nodes. Also, I find
that while interacting within the mail box folders use the VO-up and
down arrow keys to traverse the list and listen carefully to the depth
level of each node; this will help you track where things actually
are. For example, when enhancing the up and down movements with VO,
you will hear even the level 0 nodes but if you don't use VO prefix,
these will be skipped over. This may sound long winded and
complicated but I don't know how else to describe it.

HTH.

Hi and if they get the hang of quicknav!
You can also interact with down/right arrows pressed together and left/down
arrows to stop interacting also pressed down together!
And just for info up/down arrows together is the same as vo+spacebar!

Re: iPhone question

Hi.

The only thing you would miss if you did purchase from US would be Apple Care.

However, you have to ask yourself, if something went wrong with it, how would
you get it repaired?

Just my thoughts.

One other big deal with interacting is generally at the lowest level,
you will be interacting with a text element at which you can spell the

upper levels of navigation.

This is one way in which VO is a little bit awkward; that sometimes you have
have to interact two levels down just to get to the ability to spell or
phonetically sound out a word. I wish there was a "spell current word,"
feature; I guess I could maybe set one up in one of the commanders...

Actually, there is; doesn't VO-W spell the current word? I know VO-C
pronounces the phonetics of the current character.

Re: Launch Pad

2012-06-06 Thread David Griffith
It is not really a solution but I find that the shortcut Command shift A which
will take me straight to the Application folder more convenient than Launchpad.
I cannot see what launchpad looks like but all it appears to offer is some
fancy sound affects on opening an and an inconvenient layout involving grids
and pages.
In contrast command shift A will simply open the application folder with all
your applications in a single alphabetical list. with Finder set to column
view this is a very nice interface. Of course if you start to type the name of
the app you want you do not even need to interact.

You will need to be on the Desktop or other Finder window for the shortcut to
work.

Re: How to Revert Files?

2012-06-06 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

If your volume supports tracking versions in TextEdit, then you should be able
to do the following:

• Open the document.
• Either Stop Interacting with the Scroll area, then navigate to the Versions
menu and choose Browse Versions, or go under the File menu and choose Revert.
• In either case you will probably need to use the Window Chooser (VO-f2-f2) to
get a list of documents.
• You can select one of them, read through it and determine which one you wish
to use.
• After you've determined which one is best, use the Window Chooser again to
select the Version Browser.
• Select the correct one and then press the Revert button.

That should do it for you.

Re: Creating a separate folder in Mail

2012-06-06 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

Try this:

1. Select the InBox where you normally receive MacVisionaries mail.
2. Stop Interacting with everything.
3. Navigate right to the "New MailBox menu" and press it.
4. Choose New MailBox.
5. Give it an appropriate name.
6. Press cmd-comma to bring up your Mail Preferences.
7. Select the Rules tab in the ToolBar.
8. Press the Add Rule button.
9. Give a it an appropriate name.
10. Navigate to the Criteria Scroll area and Interact with it.
11. Change the "Any Recipients" pop-up menu to read "To".
12. Leave the "Contains" determiner as is.
13. Enter Visionaries in the Edit field.
14. Stop Interacting with the Scroll area.
15. Navigate to the Action Scroll area and Interact with it.
16. Leave the "Move to" action as is.
17. Select your newly created MailBox as the location for the Messages to go.
18. Stop Interacting with the Action Scroll area.
19. Press OK.
20. Close your Mail Preferences window.

That should do it. This will transfer all future eMails that meet this
criteria into the new MailBox.

Re: Organizing the mailbox list (Lion)

2012-06-06 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi Buddy,
The various InBoxes order is controlled by the order that they are shown in the
Accounts table of the Mail Preferences. In the sighted world, they can be
re-ordered using Drag and Drop actions. These same Drag and Drop actions also
allow you to re-order specific sub-MailBoxes within the tree structure of the
MailBox list. The problem, as usual, arises with the VO Drag and Drop not
being perfect so it is more or less a "hit and miss" whether you'll be able to
move them around.

I have had success on occasion using VO-comma and VO-Shift-period to do the
Drag and Drop but very inconsistently. I turn off Cursor Tracking after the
VO-comma then navigate to where I want it and sometimes, actually less than
sometimes, it works but most of the time I get annoyed and ask someone in my
family to Drag and Drop it for me.

HTH.

Re: interacting was question for all voice over trainers: trouble interacting with items

2012-06-06 Thread Ricardo Walker
Hi,

I've keyboard commander shortcuts for these individual commands. I find
pressing VO W on a MBP or, BT keyboard quite difficult. lol

Re: Organizing the mailbox list (Lion)

2012-06-06 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi Ricardo,

Key word here is "should". That's my favourite word when assisting all my
teachers with their computer issues. If you're able to use VO Drag and Drop
consistently for this task, I'd like to hear your steps as I spent a bit of
time trying this without a lot of success. Worked about twice out of twenty
times and I was not able to truly replicate it no matter how many combinations
of Lion Drag and Drop, SL Drag and Drop along with Cursor Tracking variations.

Should is good but for sure is better.

Hello; thanks for that. i had found the inspector options, but raising the
volume there didn't help. maybe i need to edit out the noises from voiceover
first? what do you think? thanks, max

Re: raising audio in iMovie

2012-06-06 Thread Blinkin
Greetings,
That is probably a good place to start. Make sure to be close to the
mic as well.
I think in the recording options there is a way to make it just pick
your voice up and not the voice over.
If not then just plug in some headphones when you record so there is no
voice over for it to pick up at all.
