i need some help with audio hijack pro
Hi list, Sorry for the last message, something went wrong. My mac doesn't appear to like gmail's interface much and I haven't managed to get apple Mail working with my account yet. My question concerns something else though: I want to create a podcast with the following criteria: - system sounds (also voiceOver and any sound apps make) must be recorded - the input from my built-in microphone must also be recorded - skype must be recorded, however i suppose the last two kind of make sure that happens already - last one: i want people on skype to hear both me and system audio, is this possible without an external mixer? The last thing I can do without if absolutely necessary but to my knowledge it can be done. Any help would be very much apreciated, Florian -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Mobile Me
Hi All, I'm trying to log in to my Mobile Me account to administrate it, but am having quite a few issues. I have been able to setup a demonstration account, as this is done through the Apple computer setup process at the very start, and I'm happy with the service, and using it quite nicely on my iPhone and two Mac's. But now that I am wishing to administrate the account I visit www.me.com from Safari and just cannot seem to navigate the page, I enter my user details into what I feel are the correct fields but nothing happens when I press sign in. anyone had any success with this or know of a work around? also, I tried to do this from my iPhone, thinking it might work better, but when you visit me.com from your iPhone, you are directed to a iPhone adapted site which seems to have no actual log in button. also anyone got any ideas about this? kind regards. Trouble with Story Mill
Hello all, I just installed a demo of Story Mill, and I can't seem to do a thing. All of the menu options are dimmed, and none of the keyboard shortcuts seem to be working. Now, I am a relatively new Mac user, but this is odd behavior. Can anyone who has experience with Story Mill give me some pointers? I will probably buy the program if I can get it to work, but I'm not buying anything if I am unable to even use the demo. Re: mac os x accesibility with note takers
Hum, Well, the victor stream and booksense both work on the mack. Braillesense works. Braille note apex works as a braille terminal. I haven't tested file transfering capabilities. I haven't tested packmate, but so far that looks to me like more than 10% of notetaking devices right there, more like 50 percent between compatible and non. Then add the braille display support with read/write. Not everything works beautifully, but then it doesn't do that under windows either. Your vr might want to do a little more research. On the other hand, it's much easier to justify the mac for a student if the student is in a mac school. If the school is all outfitted with windows and all the classes are geared to windows, then it doesn't follow that a mac won't work, it just seems to make it easier on the student and their teachers and support people to be using windows like everyone else in the class. And before the uproar hits, I know just as many die hard mac users blind and sighted who got there in this exact way. Their school used macs, so they used macs and never dealt with windows. Uh, The pearl installer script we're r-supposed to run is 0 bytes and does nothing when I run it here. I've experimented with some other things on the disk image but I really think it's either a bug in the tools package, or something has been moved in the vinux system to cause the ubuntoo tools for vmware not to work. Re: mac os x accesibility with note takers
Hi Donna, They have the braille sense working quite nicely with mac OS at this point. You can transfer files back and fourth using mobile disc mode, or you can use it as a usb or bluetooth braille terminal. The sense is just ridiculous with jaws and you can forget all about it since driver signing emerged in version 11. Re: mac os x accesibility with note takers
Hi Scott, I don't think I did. What are the broad and general assumptions you think I made? I wrote "I don't think there is 1 application for the Mac that has the accessibility and ease of use as MS word with Jaws". this was just my opinion. Hardly a broad general assumption. :). I then wrote "Many people get by though. They use pages, open office, text edit and a couple others to get the job done." I think you would agree with this? You just said you used pages to complete a task that you found cumbersome on MS Word thus, getting the job done on your Mac, right? Like I stated earlier, I fail to see the broad general assumptions you thought I was making. Re: Mobile Me
Hi Neil - I had the same problem with my mobileme account login on my mac and for me the issue was resolved by clicking on the item labelled "underline button" rather than clicking on either of the items labeled "sign in" and "sign in to mobileme." Here's a more detailed description of what I hear on the login page: As I VO + Right Arrow through the login fields, I hear the following nine elements: "Clickable edit text blank," "Member Name clickable," "clickable secure edit text," "Password clickable," "unchecked checkbox," "keep me signed in for 2 weeks," "underline button," "sign in clickable," "sign in to mobileme clickable." When I clicked on either of the last 2 "clickable" items nothing happened, so I went back to the item labeled "underline button" and when I clicked on that it logged me in. Program to extract audio from DVDs
Hi Chad, THere is a program that extracts audio from DVDs. It's about $25 I believe but you can download a trial version I believe. I forget where I purchased it from. If you google DVD Remaster you will find it. I also did a podcast on it. I use it almost every week to extract audio from DVDs recorded from TV. It works great, and has a variety of formats to choose from. I hope that helps. Re: Help with Audio Hijack
Hi Florian, Yes, Audio Hijack can do exactly what you need. The only thing I don't know is how to route system audio to Skype, I think it has to do with the settings, but i'm not sure. Sarah told me how to do it once. I will see if I can find the file she sent me. I think she sent it to me anyway. To record your mic, system audio and Skype at the same time, do the following: 1. Open Audio Hijack and choose default system input, interact with the toolbar and check the hijack audio box. 2. Then go to system audio and intereact with the toolbar next to system audio and check the hijack audio checkbox. 3. Lastly go to Skype and interact with the toolbar and check hijack audio. 4. after you have done all this, just go to system audio again and interact with toolbar and check the record checkbox. In order for AH to record Skype, system audio, and internal mic, you have to hijack what you want to record first and then go back to System Audio th check the record box. I think to route your system audio so people on Skype can hear it, you might have to create a new component called system audio two or something. I did this accidentally, so now I have three components named System Audio :). Have a great day. If you need any more help, just let me know. sharing and permissions in SN?
Hello Everyone, I am trying to set up sharing and permissions on my mac mini. I have devided a 1TB usb drive into four partitions. I am using partition four for the use of my family members who use both mac's and pc's. I have created accounts for each of them and created folders for each as well. Furthermore I have created a private folder for them to store more sencitive documents in. I would like to make the private folder accessable so that they must use their username and password to access it. I am the administrator and when I try to change the permissions under filetet info, sharing and permissions. All that I see is that I have read write permission. I have researched this on the net and I read that there should be quite a few drop down boxes that I can select. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? Thank you in advanced. Re: creating new users on the mac
Hi Scott! Ok I do not know what you have tried to do when you have logged into the other accounts, but here is a couple of suggestions [ sorry if you already tried them ] When in one of the accounts and vo is not speaking try command+f5 first and if you think vo is already switched on you can then try fn+f10 [ if you have a keyboard with a fn key] And you've got it set to use f1 f2 f3 and the rest set to normal use! fn+f10 mutes and unmutes vo! Also if this works you'll have to turn on vo on all the accounts then from then on you should have no problems! Just one more thing each account can set vo differently so one could have Alex as the main voice and another could have Victoria and so on and at different speeds and so on! hth Colin On 19 Nov 2010, at 17:38, Scott Ford wrote: > Hello everyone, > I have created new users on my mini and when I log into them I > cannot get voice over to speak. Re: mac os x accesibility with note takers
Ricardo, The general assumption you stated is that "For example, I don't think there is 1 application for the Mac that has the accessibility and ease of use as MS word with Jaws." This may be your opinion, but the assertion is no other product is as accessible as this specific combination. In my case, it was ensuring the document I provided my coworker could be easily accessed without any font issues etc. Btw, from some of the employees who use JAWS and Office, I hear a lot of complaints as well as my complaints with Window-EYes and Office. The issues seem to go well beyond just typing documents etc. In fact I find this considerably easier with anything other than Office. So, that is what I was referring too. Btw, there is an alternative out there called Mark Down, which I guess for a lack of a better description, is an easier way to create documents than using LaTex. This sounds like something that would make Word etc. almost unnecessary. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Re: mac os x accesibility with note takers
Hi Scott, That is not an assumption. That is my personal opinion based on, my level of skill with both screen readers, word processors, how I use them, and operating systems. By all means, you can disagree. Different strokes for different folks. I think we might have a different view of "broad general assumptions". I would view the statement. I think all flowers are yellow" as a broad general assumption. :). In this case though, there is a lot of personal preference involved. A big part of the equation is the tasks one is trying to do with there word processor. I stick by my opinion for what its worth. Something can come a long tomorrow that makes me change my mind. I will certainly make the list aware of this. But until then... Just one more thing each account can set vo differently so one could have Alex as the main voice and another could have Victoria and so on and at different speeds and so on! hth Colin On 19 Nov 2010, at 17:38, Scott Ford wrote: > Hello everyone, > I have created new users on my mini and when I log into them I > cannot get voice over to speak. problem with Mail
Hi All, I have changed something in mail by mistake. normally, if I was in the message list I could then shift tab and I would be on the list of mailboxes. Now when I shift tab it opens up the body of the email. What have I done? How do I get it back to the way it was? As it is now I cannot figure out how to get back to the list of mailboxes. Drag & drop once again...
Hi folks. Can someone here tell me what is happening? When I drag and drop files in the finder, they are just copying... The purpose was to drag and drop them (like cut and paste...) Do I have to press an extra key when dropping the files to get them just moved and not copied, or what? Hope for good answers. Re: Drag & drop once again...
Hi, I think what is happening is that in macos you can not cut and paste files. VO Cursor and Editing
Hi, I cannot find the setting which determines whether the cursor is to the left or the right of the character. I went through System Preferences and also reviewed the manual and could not locate it. I lost my setting when I upgraded to 10.6.5 and had not saved them, so I need to reset this setting. Thanks. Face time and Audio Hijack?
Hi all, I tried to record Face time conversations with Audio Hijack. I cannot find them anywhere even though I created a new component for Face Time. I checked Hijack audio and record. I don't understand what the problem is. DOes anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Hi Carolyn, That did it! I thought there was a left or right setting, but obviously not. I saw that setting, but didn't think that was the one to change. Thanks. voiceover, for the ipods, which is best
I had a question because, I could not tell by looking at apple's site which iPod is going to do the trick! The first is I have both a mac and pc, until the pc dies and I can justify an imac like I justified a laptop when the Dell croaked. So I want to be able to connect either to one or the other to obtain media. I have about 70gb of material so far; still ripping cds, the never ending process. I want to beable to record and listen to media. The apple site did not give me enough options because, I know by going to the store, their or more iPods available than what is listed on the site. I plan on using the iPod when traveling out and about and to record meetings. ON apple's site, it said the iPod shuffle had voice over but it did not say for all the others but, I know they all do accept for the iPod classic; correct me if I am wrong! Also if there is another list to handle this type of question, please let me know? Thanks Heather -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Re: voiceover, for the ipods, which is best
Heather, the accessible iPods are: third generation Touch 16 gig and higher, all fourth generation iPod Touches, Shuffles of course (they have and have never a screen, Nanos from fourth generation up to the sixth generation which is the current one. I hope this helps. Just do not buy the third generation iPod Touch 8 gig model. It does not have voice over. hth On Nov 19, 2010, at 9:11 PM, heather kd5cbl wrote: > I had a question because, I could not tell by looking at apple's site which > iPod is going to do the trick! Save an e-mail in html
Hi All, I use Mail for my e-mail correspondence. I tried to save an e-mail in html format but it doesn't allow me to save it as such. But what I want to is to save this e-mail and keep the html tags like headers etc. I also tried to paste it to Textedit and save it in html. It worked in general but during copy and paste the html tags were lost. Does anyone know a solution for this issue? Maybe a script or another mail client or program? Re: Pages Podcast is now up
Allison: Any possibility of doing the same thing for numbers. Right now, Text edit is enough for the vary light word processing work I do. However, numbers is another thing, I would love it if you could do something with that, thanks in advance. Re: voiceover, for the ipods, which is best
I'm not sure, but I don't think the nano has a recording function or even a microphone built-in. The only one I can be sure that has that is the ipod touch 4th gen and as far as I've messed with that on mine, it recorded things pretty well. Aside from that it has 32 or 64 GB, so that means you can have more music on there without swapping music around daily or weekly. And you only need Itunes. -- Ruud -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group.
