Re: Accessible Ulternative browzer?
Hi, How do you use webkit and not Safari? I thought webkit was installed into Safari in some way since I have a webkit menu in the safari menu, but I am probably wrong, do I need to start webkit as an alternativ to Safari to use webkit? Claus - Original Message - From: "Justin Ekis" To: Sent: Thursday, October 14, 2010 4:02 AM Subject: Re: Accessible Ulternative browzer? Hi Mike, I just use webkit as my default browser and don't even worry about safari. They can't use it as the default just yet because it is still a work in progress. However, I have been following apple news sites such as apple insider that have been reporting about private betas of the next free minor update, 10.6.5. It seems someone posted the beta notes, and it mentioned that safari with voiceover has been improved. We will see what comes out of that. There have been 5 betas so this can't be far off. Re: growler helper app?
the growler app comes with adium. its designed to make some aspects of various programs a little m ore accessible (such as skype's chat frames). it has a lot of speech functions that can be helpful. it can also get in the way if you don't need that level of verbosity for a particular application. a drive modification log or something?
When I look at my hard drive, I see that it was "last modified," while at the Apple store being fixed. Is there a log somewhere that keeps track of how it was modified or what was done, etc.? any way to delete remembered WEP key passwords
Okay, here's what's going on. Last night, I finally connected to my AT&T U-verse wireless internet connection. While doing so, I had the check box for "remember this network" checked. If, in future, I wish to remove the password and set it so that I always must enter the password, how do I do this? I red in the Apple forums that a user tried to just delete the password from his keychain via the utilities menu; but his wireless still logged on automatically. I don't want to have to restore from a Time Machine backup just to fix what should be a strait forward issue. Thanks. Sincerely, The Constantly Barefooted Ray!!! what's the best way to move Time Machine backups from one drive to another?
Hi, I'm about to get a new and much bigger drive for my Time Machine backups. I'd like to retain the backups I already have and move them all to the 1TB drive I'm getting soon. If I just copy and paste the entire drive contents from the route directory of the drive, and when I designate Time Machine to use that new drive, Am I going then to see two backup folders or just one? Re: Is there a way to document VO crashes?
Hello Geoff, To find Crash Logs, go to your Home folder, then Logs, then Crash Logs, and that's where they'll be. Except that VO stopping speaking doesn't generate a crash log. Strictly speaking, it isn't a crash since the VoiceOver cursor is still visible on the screen (or so I'm told). Re: erasing music from iPod, but not from Mac
Yes. What you do is this: You plug your phone in, arrow to it, go to the summary tab, make sure "manually manage music" is highlighted. Then, arrow back to your phone in the sources table, and expand it. Then arrow down to music. Then, go to the songs table. Then, do a command+A to highlight them all, then the backspace or delete key and hit remove. HTH Wes. If somethings not clear, ask me to explain it. You could always remove it from the wireless preferences. Selecting it from the table and then hitting backspace or command-backspace should do the trick. Viewing pdf files that contain tables?
Hi all, I am trying to read a pdf that I just downloaded. It contains a listing of contact information that appears to be formatted as a table. This is not working well in preview. Voiceover reads the entire first column, and then starts the second column. This is very difficult since there are almost 100 rows in the table. I hear all of the names, then the addresses, then the phone numbers. This site doesn't have any other file format for this information. Is there any way I can get voiceover to read this? The pdf2rtf service renders the data the same way. This is the first time I've encountered anything that I could read on windows but not in OSX. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Hi. sorry for the on list replies! She wrote blind musicians in the title and that is actually another e mail list I am subscribed to. Every post to that list has the words "blind musicians" in the subject line. I only realized it was posted to the mac list when I saw this message. To the girl that posted, there are a couple e mail lists you can search for online using google etc. they would be good places to post future questions. One is blind musicians and the other is the nfb music link list. the blind musicians list has a lot more traffic and I believe it's hosted by yahoo groups if that helps. RE: Need Help: Blind Musicians
Hello, all:) I figured I might as well contribute to this topic, although it seems pretty exhausted by this point. The only string instruments I play are guitar and bass guitar. I find that the pads of the fingers, which are used for Braille reading, are unaffected--even by bass playing, where all the strings (typically) are wound (rough) and very thick as compared to a standard guitar. If you placehold with your left hand and read with your right (assuming the left hand is the fretting hand), then the problem should be reduced even further. As I previously mentioned, however, I experience no difficulties whatsoever and I don't need to resort (or even think about) things such as lotion, etc. I hope this helps in some way. Hi Scott: Well, I guess you could take that topic to another list then. The list owners and moderators have reasons for making the rules they make. Re: Viewing pdf files that contain tables?
Hi Justin: Two possible reasons for this. Check your view menu, and seen if it is set to collumns. If it is, try experimenting with the icon or list modes to see if they help. Also, in Voiceover utilities, you may want to turn off what I think is called cursor wrapping. Hope this helps some. Hi guys: I have a question that is more of a curiosity than need. I never see my own posts back in my inbox in applemail. I guess I don't need to read what I've written, but I'm wondering why they don't come back to me. If I don't get replies, I'd never know if they were reaching anyone:) Is this a Mac setting, a gmail setting, or the norm? I simply turned off cursor tracking in adium's chat window and then used the chime to announce a new message. at that point I hit VO-end and it reads the last line. it works fairly well for me that way. still, I would like it to read in real time like it does in skype. -Eric On Oct 14, 2010, at 12:37 PM, Rafaela Freundt wrote: > hi, I want to make growl work with adium as it does with skype. If you want lossless, Apple has its own lossless format. If you're an audiophile and need absolute transparency with a reduced filesize, this is the way to go. I find I have a mix of both lossy and lossless formats in my library. I reserve my lossless compression for jazz, classical and a few world music CDs. Everything else is lossy AAC at 256 kbps. If I need to sync my iPhone, I convert everything to AAC at 128 kbps. As an audio engineer, I have yet to find a significant deal breaker in terms of encoding method with AAC. Mp3s are a little too messy for my liking, but 192 kbps and up will do in a pinch. Cheers, Kevin -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Hi, I think it might be a gmail setting. But I believe you can have apple mail CC yourself if you don't want to hunt for the option in gmail. Go to mail prefs and look under compose. hth Ricardo Walker rwalker...@gmail.com Twitter & Skype: rwalker296 Google Voice: 1-646-450-2197 On Oct 14, 2010, at 9:30 PM, Carolyn Haas wrote: > Hi guys: > I have a question that is more of a curiosity than need. Wow that was a completely unnecessary and hostile response. Must be difficult being that bitter all day. I simply pointed something out, the moderator of course can take it or leave it, it's their list. I'm sorry my making a suggestion disturbed your life so or it must have for such a snippy response. Hi, this si very common behavior with gmail. I noticed the same thing at first but confirmed that google's MTA is fairly smart and filters them for you. I believe comcast's business exchange services do something similar but typically you're correct and you should see your posts. Got my recording program.
Hello all, well i've finely done it i have just bought amadayus pro. I have to say i am really happy with it all i have to do now is learn how to use it properly now as all i have really done so far is record tracks but not done anything with them. I look forward to having a go at this. I do a lot of singing so this is going to be very useful for me. Re: Receiving one's own posts to googlegroups -> was My dumb question for the day
Very puzzling -- I always received my own posts to this and the ViPhone list, hence when this question came up earlier I checked the settings in GoogleGroups without finding anything applicable. This may not be relevant, but I set up filters in gMail; the one for this list for example checks for the list address in the to or cc fields and sends all matches to a label named MacVisionaries. It would be interesting to learn whether the filter affects receipt of one's own posts? Take care.
