Re: Virtualbox 3.1.4 released without VO working
There is a command line interface which lets you do everything you can do from the GUI, so it is 'accessible' but not so 'usable'. Better bet is probably to go buy VMWare which works well and is accessible (and cheap if you hunt for deals). I also just installed the latest updates to Parallels 4 and found the Jaws intercept driver still ruins the VM so you have to roll back to the last known good configuration. I haven't bothered with Parallels 5 since its track record with Jaws has been so bad. CB Simon Fogarty wrote: So are you saying that virtual box is not useable? Re: Removing files in iTunes
Hi, Well, though this topic has died down, and been nonexistent for weeks now, I thought I'd bring it up again. This didn't even cross my mind at all. I got to thinking it last night, and decided to test my theory. I tried the following: 1. I went to one of the files having this problem. I had renamed it, so I changed it back. 2. When I renamed it, I forgot all about ASCII characters in that file. While the folder it had unzipped to had converted properly where the characters were concerned, the filename itself did not. 3. I renamed it again, putting "'" which is the ASCII for the apostrophe in the original name. Bam. That did the trick. Now, my question is this. Does anyone know of a way to make Mac OS X show these characters properly? I hate seeing ' every time I see an apostrophe on these files, but if you get rid of the ASCII and replace it, it disables iTunes ability to change its settings. Thanks in advance. I've been looking everywhere, but no luck. To fill everyone in not wanting to read this thread from top to bottom, the problem is basically that I am unable to change settings such as "Remember playback position" in iTunes after unzipping the file, nor am I able to remove it from my library. I found the solution, but I'd like to be able to display the ASCII characters properly. I have also seen this issue on several websites, including edit fields. Does anyone know where to find the cool music which starts when you switch on your Mac for the first time?
Hi list, Does anyone know where to find the cool music which starts when you set up your Mac for the first time please? I am sure it is on here, but I just cannot seem to find it. I think I've looked in all the obvious places. Thanks for any help TC James, Lyn, Nash & Twinny -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Re: omitting images when opening a pdf
Hi Yuma I assume from your post that you are just opening these PDF files with preview? Preview is not that robust when it comes to malformed PDF files and I have had some issues like your too. I use Skim http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/24590/skim which is pretty good and also is an electronic highlighter and sticky note adder for pdf files, which is handy for reference material. Problem PDF files can be fixed with Adobe Acrobat. You might be able to use the trial just to resave the document with the images reduced in size. I had to do this once with a large (over 1GB PDF) and it reduced the total size back to ~200Mb which was still very readable even when zoomed up. PDFPenPro also has a trial but I cant remember if it watermarks each page. Re: Does anyone know where to find the cool music which starts when you switch on your Mac for the first time?
Hi James, I know. There is no way you would find it by searching with Spotlight, or whatever. It's darn hard to find if you don't do it like this otherwise. :) 1. Find your main hard drive, and open it up. 2. Find the folder called "System", and open it. 3. Find "Library". 4. Find "Core Services". 5. Find the application called "Setup Assistant." 6. Open the contextual menu on this application "VO-Shift-M" and hit enter or VO-space on "SHow package contents". 7. Now, instead of having to open the .bundle file and show its packaged contents, the easier way is simply to interact with the toolbar when in the Setup Assistants package contents, and search for mp3 in the toolbar item all the way to your right. 8. Make sure that the radio button "Setup Assistant.app" is selected. 9. Now, here it is. You will see it in the list view if you VO-arrow to the table.
