RE: How to set up Microsoft Exchange email in IPhone?

Jes,

What is it you neeed to know.

The exchange setup / ms mail account setup is very easy on an iphone. So
long of course if you have the details for your exchange server.

Subject: How to set up Microsoft Exchange email in IPhone?

Can someone guide me on how to set up an email account that uses Exchange on
the IPhone? My college email uses this, and their website is just not
efficient. I'd rather be able to send email straight from the IPhone's mail
program, or better yet, the mail app from the Mac instead of having to go
through the website.
Thanks
Jes

 Hi,

Both comments and styles work fine with vo and pages. There are a few
 hang-ups however.

 1. Vo can't see bullets or numbers in auto bulleted or numbered lists.
 2. You can't use vo to read or do any operations on in-line objects:
objects embedded in the document. That being said however, you can
read and use objects to a large degree if the are floating. In the
later case, they are in the lay-out area. There ways to make an
in-line object floating and there are indications that an object is
present in a document because vo will say "hi-lited" hen you move the
 insertion point of it.
 3. Templates seem totally unusable to me. Someone else might have a
better handle on that but there seems to be things like text boxes
with in-line text boxes. So it's not a nice situation for vo.

As it stands, I think that document creation using vo is very doable.
Due to the problems I mentioned however, I think that collaborative
writing projects, or any situation where you will have to read a
document that someone else did using Word, will be problematic.

question about mail and IMAP

2010-02-14 Thread Lyn & Twinny
Hi list,

I hope this question is not off topic. I am having a bit of an issue with the
mail application and IMAP settings. Maybe I am doing something wrong here but
if anyone could help with this, that would be greatly appreciated. I have set
up my gmail account in mail using IMAP. However, I am not sure of my settings
because whenever I delete messages in the "all mail folder", they keep coming
back, even after I have deleted the trash. Either there's something wrong with
my settings or could this mean I have to go into my gmail account on the
website and delete the messages in the "all mail folder" there? If anyone
could help me solve this mystery, I'd be very grateful.

Thanks and have a good one.

RE: question about mail and IMAP

2010-02-14 Thread Joe Plummer
Yes, you will need to go to Google email site to do this. You really don't
need to delete the trash in Google because it does it auto every 30 days
that each message is 30 days old. The way I understand it is your spam,
trash folder and your sent mail and all mail folder under your Google name
account in the what ever mail client you are using these are just showing up
on your computer they are not really on it. I think you can find more out in
the help session of your Google email account. I use IMAP in outlook 2003
and outlook 2007 for my Google accounts at home and work and this seems to
be what it is for me. So I don't never worry about the other folders just my
inbox. Unless I need to look up something I deleted or sent. Hope this helps
some.

You have to map the mailbox for deleted items to the trash folder so their is
only one folder for deleting messages. You do this by going to the G-Mail trash
folder and click on use this mailbox for sub menu under mailboxes on the mail
menu and select trash. There are some other settings and when I locate the
article I'll forward it to you.

certain submit buttons and Voiceover

I did have a question. I have a friend who uses Voiceover and is trying to sign

She says the submit button does not show up, or it's there but it doesn't work.
I was going to let the folks know who are running the petition, but I wondered

Thanks.

Re: certain submit buttons and Voiceover

2010-02-14 Thread erik burggraaf
Sorry, I don't have a leopard machine to test it on. It might make a
difference, because accessibility made tremendous strides in SL, but I
seriously doubt it. I never had problems with submit buttons not showing up
and I don't recall seeing mention of it. That by no means proves the problem
didn't exist, but I see a fare number of macs in the coarse of my training gig
and none of them reported such a thing.

In the event, why would your friend the mack user be running leopard at this
stage? Is there some compadibility issue preventing them from upgrading?

Re: certain submit buttons and Voiceover

2010-02-14 Thread Dan Eickmeier
Hi Carin. If the button to sign the petition is there, but not working when
he simply hits VO-space on it, have him try routing his mouse to it, if he
doesn't have his mouse and voiceover cursor tracking each other, he can hit
VO-command-f5 to route it, and then try hiting VO-shift-space to see if that
activates the button. HOpe this is of some help. I've had to do this in some
applications, but I've seen this happen at times on the web as well.

Well, we're on 10.6.3 now I believe and all the major bugs are worked out,

Re: Is there enough VO support in I Work to justify the cost

2010-02-14 Thread Mueller, Matt
Pete, It was my reply which I felt might have generalized a bit too much.
Sorry if that wasn't clear. I agree that application developers are rightly
responsible for conforming to accessibility guidelines. My issues exist in
things like not being able to resize a window or drag a file, and the the
(sometimes extreme) focus jumping which occurs. I don't recall those kinds of
issues using ZoomText. Having said that, I too feel Apple has brought a good
deal of fun back to technology. By and large their solutions are as elegant as
the UI that sits on top.

On the issue of Cocoa, there is certainly a push to move developers that way.
Though the Carbon frameworks still exist, 64-bit, Grand Central, and the like
will necessitate a move to Cocoa.

Hi,

creating structured headings in Pages using Voiceover isn't a problem. You do
it from the styles drawer. I explained how to do it in a prior message, and I
learned how to do it from the Pages on-line help.

Reading PowerPoint Presentations on the Mac

2010-02-14 Thread Jeffrey Shockley
Hi,
I was wondering if there was an accessible program that can be used to read
PowerPoint presentations on the Mac? I am asking because one of the college
classes that I am taking, one of the instructors uses PowerPoint, and it would
be nice to be able to read these presentations on the Mac. I can already on
Windows, but it would be cool if I could on my Mac as well.
Thanks,
Jeffrey

Good afternoon Jeffrey,

I'm not sure about reading Powerpoint on the Mac. You can however
save them as RTF in windows and read that on the Mac, or a better
solution, ask the professor to provide you RTF, or some other more
universal format, of the content.

Re: TextExpander app on sale for $1.99

2010-02-14 Thread Esther

Hi Robert, Mike, and Others,

Yes, as Mike says, TextExpander for the Mac is VoiceOver friendly.
(And oddly enough, although I was away when this post came in, the
next post from someone on the mac-access list was a recommendation for
the desktop app, along with an account of excellent customer support
to a query in the form of an AppleScript that he's started using with
TextExpander.) I should correct him that he got a 20% discount in
connection with this year's MacWorld event by using the link at his
posted site to make his purchase ($23.96 instead of $29.95):

http://smileonmymac.com/mw2010/
This offer is good through February 28, 2010.

Here's some more background. I'll cc this post to the macvisionaries
list, since it concerns the TextExpander desktop software for the
Mac, which can work in tandem with the TextExpander Touch app for the
iPhone and iPod Touch.

Like the TextExpander Touch app, the original (Mac only) TextExpander
software lets you define shortcut "snippets" that expand to phrases
like Mike's signature line. Since you can access and create snippets
by bringing up the TextExpander preferences pane, you get the features
that show up when the icon is accessed from the status menu bar (which
can be a potential problem for VoiceOver for some apps).

Snow Leopard on the Mac allows you to define keyboard shortcuts that
expand into larger phrases, but they only work in a subset of
applications while TextExpander's snippets are system wide. (To be
fair, these are probably the applications you are most likely to
use). The TextExpander snippets are more sophisticated: you can use
their sample snippets to expand to the current date or time in a
format of your choosing. If you are a web page designer you can used
the pre-defined samples to expand HTML elements around the word you
just typed, and you don't have to worry whether you've correctly typed
the various characters, or you could use the snippet classes defined
to assist computer coding. If you have to generate reports with
similar discussion sections you can custom-define snippets for
specific text that you can later modify.

I use TextExpander to type accented names or characters. If I want to
type a few paragraphs in another language without having to rely on
bringing up the spell-checker for a different language for certain
phrases, I can use predefined snippets. I can also use this to type
in Greek characters and formulae, or text snippets in languages with
non-Roman characters (like Russian).

The other factor that might make this interesting for Mac users is the
interface with the TextExpander Touch app for the iPhone and iPod
Touch, because you can share definitions between the desktop software
and the iPhone app. (The Desktop app allows more scope for
definitions, and use with AppleScripts, so more advanced Desktop
snippet definitions may not be sharable with the iPhone app version).

Again, the TextExpander Touch app can be used whether or not you get
the desktop (Mac only) TextExpander software. It's mostly useful if
you use one of the other apps that directly support TextExpander
Touch, like Twittelator Pro, Simplenote. There are a few unlabeled
buttons on the app: on the screen that lists groups of snippets,
including sample snippets, and any new groups of snippets you choose
to add, the unlabeled button in the bottom left corner is the
"Settings" button. The "add" button in the bottom right corner lets
you create new groups, or add predefined groups (e.g., for accented
words, symbols, HTML, etc.). On the "Compose" screen there are two
unlabeled buttons. The one in the bottom center lets you view and
select from a list of your recent note history. The unlabeled button
at the bottom right lets you erase the note or cancel your editing
changes. In general, you will mainly use the "Actions" button at the
bottom left to either send what you've composed to Mail, or to Tweetie
(if you have the Tweetie 2 app), or to copy all text so you can paste
it into another app. TextExpander Touch is on sale for $1.99 (from
$4.99) to celebrate the release of additional apps supporting
TextExpander snippets. (I'm not sure for how long).

There was a sign button at the end of the petition, I had no problem finding it

I am using Snow leopard ver 10.6.3 and Safari 4.04 with Voiceover. It's
possible that your friend is using an earlier version, and, of course, I can't
be sure the button would show up in an earlier version, however, it looked

Re: certain submit buttons and Voiceover

2010-02-14 Thread Les Kriegler
Hi Ryan,

Yes, I've done exactly as you did. There were 4 updates, including iLife and a
security update, but no OS update. I'm quite certain we're all running 10.6.2
if we have the latest release.

I would also point out that if you use the Web Spot feature, it is quite
accurate indeed. I have a sweet spot set for a number of locations on the
banking website I use and it surely is the greatest thing for making
navigation of a site efficient. I have it setup so as soon as the page
loads, I'm on the location to enter my login info. Once I'm logged in, I
am immediately on the list of accounts and on the balance information. If
folks have not really explored the possibilities of Web/sweet spots, do
yourself a favor and give them a try, they are very useful.

DPS plugin for itunes

2010-02-14 Thread Yuma Antoine Decaux
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3678065/BongioviAcousticsDPS.dmg

The difference with this Digital ro System plugin is like night and day.

All my tunes are now seriously clear and each track is separated perfectly.

It works seamlessly with itunes so there's no fuss.

All you have to do is add your laptop/desktop/headphone model in the audio
preferences and the plugin does the rest.

There are unlabelled buttons but here is the list from left to right of labels
i got from sighted assistance:

-info
-built-in
-desktop
-headphones

Then there is a space label which turns on the dps when you VO space on it

-preferences
-music
-movie
-show/hide play controls
-company

then there's an image

-previous track
-play
-next track
Then there are two labeled spaces

track
artist.

For those who don't know how to label:

go on the unlabelled button and VO backslash, then type the label you want, or
in this case, what i listed above

Enjoy :)
