Re: Conversion to OpenOffice error
How did you convert it, by copy and paste or export to plain text? I've no clue how ligature affects the conversion, unless it was converted from dvi or ps or pdf format. Errors in LyX 1.5.3 installer for Mac
Dear Lyxers, Yesterday I installed the new 1.5.3 binary for Mac on my MacBook Pro. While running the installer, three errors showed up: 1) ERROR: Cannot install preview files 2) ERROR: Cannot install Srcltx files 3) Cannot install LyX's additonal LaTex.cls and .sty files After thtat, the Installation reports says: No need to update TeX installation. My question is: As I don't have to update TeX installation... are those errors normal Cheers, Jordi

So you can play a bit I have just used the LyxWinInstallerUpdate, to update 1.5.2, but it hasn't updated any of the 3rd programs, like MiKTeX 2.7, that come with the full installer. Is that right. Are these only updated as part of the full install? Graham -- Graham Smith [EMAIL PROTECTED]

It will only be installed if neither MiKTeX 2.6 nor 2.5 is installed on your system. As always with brand new major releases, don't update to MiKTeX 2.7 when you are finishing large or important documents. There is no need for an urgent update." So I think you must un install any previous version of MiKTeX if you want an update... Siegfried.

Siegfried MEUNIER-GUTTIN-CLUZEL schrieb: So I think you must un install any previous version of MiKTeX if you want an update... No, MiKTeX is not touched. MiKTeX 2.7 is only installed together with LyX when you don't have MiKTeX already installed. An update from MiKTeX 2.6 to 2.7 is in general only possible by uninstalling MikTeX 2.6 and then installing (manually or together with LyX) 2.7 , but it is possible to install MiKTeX 2.7 side-by-side to an existing MiKTeX 2.6 installation (http://miktex.org/2.7/Setup.aspx). I haven't tested how it works to have two MiKTeX versions installed side by side. But in case you have this, LyXWinInstaller will set up LyX to use the latest version (in this case 2.7). regards Uwe

Are these only updated as part of the > full install? Third-party programs are not updated. In case of MikTeX this is technically not possible. For the other programs there is no urgent need to - there is no security issue that was fixed, the new version only provide new functionality (not used by LyX). In case there is a security issue, I'll anounce this separately. When you want to check out the latest versions of all third-party programs, then the safest way is to uninstall LyX 1.5.2 and then install lyx 1.5.3 using the complete installer variant. --- Beside this, was the update to lyX 1.5.3 successful for you? regards Uwe
Hebrew on Mac OS X
Hello. When trying to view the DVI for a Hebrew (document class: "article (Hebrew)", Language: "Hebrew") LyX file on Mac OS X I get the following error: Font LHE/cmr/m/n/10=jerus10 at 10.0pt not loadable: Metric (TFM) file not fou \begin{document} I wasn't able to read the size data for this font, so I will ignore the font specification. [Wizards can fix TFM files using TFtoPL/PLtoTF.] You might try inserting a different font spec; e.g., type `I\font='. I'm not an expert on LyX or LaTeX (although I did manage to set up and use LyX with Hebrew under Linux), so please be gentle. Thanks, Alexander (aka Sasha) Maryanovsky.

Graham Smith schrieb: Thanks, I am no desperate rush to upgrade, just wondered, You can update your ecisting MikTeX 2.6 installation to get the latest LaTeX-packages in any case. To do this, use MiKTeX's update program in the Windows Start Menu. This program is executed in by the complete and small installer. I forgot to build in this feature also in the update installer, the next update installer version (for lyX 1.5.4) will have this. So I have to correct myself: MiKTeX 2.6 cannot be updated to MikteX 2.7, but MiKTeX 2.6 can be updated itself to get the latest LaTeX-package versions. regards Uwe

I did the conversion using the File->Export->OpenOffice.org Writer function in LyX, which uses oolatex. I too have no clue as to how the ligature (which appears to be the problem) affects the conversion. Re: MiKTeX 2.7
So, to be completely clear... (I'm slow) If we have used LyXWinInstaller for all LyX installations and updates, and are up to date as of LyX 1.5.2 and MikTeX 2.6, we can just update MikTeX the usual way through its own interface and then use the LyXWinInstaller update version to get to LyX 1.5.3 - and all will play well together?
