Re: header issues
Just make sure that your text editor saves the file with UTF-8 encoding, and everything should work. For the italiano.ly, I hope that you really use the note names defined in that file. I just tried with \include "italiano.ly" music={do re mi fa} ... and didn't notice any problems. /Mats Michiel Lange wrote: Have been looking around a little, and this can be something where I am doing very stupid things... Re: No stem lines
I recommend to look at the "Tips and Tricks" and "Regression Tests" document included in the on-line documentation. They contain lots of complete examples of what you can do with the program. If you want a searchable collection of small examples, follow the link to the LilyPond Snippet Repository at www.lilypond.org -> Documentation. /Mats Hans wrote: Thanks Bruce. I was also looking at TupletBracket, but playing with font-size. It is indeed difficult for me to understand the docs. I am used to hand code web pages (nothing fancy, just the basics), so my thoughts were that Lilypond wouldn't be that difficult. But, unless HTML, I miss the 'big picture', or 'where to put what'. The docs give you the tags, but - for me - too little in examples to follow or adapt. Amazingly, there is also very little to be found on the web, for example Lilypond beginners tutorials, etc. Just bear with me, I'll get there :-) Basically, for now, I am interested in producing some guitar music with tablature. There is also very little documentation on tablature, so look forward (or not) to some more posts from me regarding this. Re: Spacing between score and tab
If you temporarily change your setting of transparent from ##t to ##f, you will realize what happens. Actually, to get rid of the beams, I would propose to use |\autoBeamOff| |instead of just making the transparent, see "|8.6.2 Setting automatic beam behavior" for the documentation. |This also happens to fix your| |spacing problem. A few other comments: - I would recommend to move #(set-global-staff-size 20) to the top level of the file, i.e. outside \score{...}. - If you want to set properties in the TabStaff context, it makes more sense to use something \override TabStaff.xxx #'xxx = #'xxx instead of your current ||\override Staff.xxx #'xxx = #'xxx, which happens to work in this particular situation. - If you don't explicitly name contexts (see "|9.1.1 Creating contexts"), I recommend to use \new instead of \context. Otherwise you might be unpleasantly surprised if you for example have more than one Staff context in the same score. /Mats || Hans wrote: Hello everyone, As you can see in my latest version of the score I've been working on the final bar lines of the score and tab because they didn't match up. RE: Note chart
It seems to hand biasing advice to the 'springs' but isn't precise. I recall that it can't be used to reduce spacing. I followed the instructions on the "packaging" page, but it didn't work through, even without trying to build the documentation. I also was unable to create a .deb when following the packaging instructions. Should I move this conversation over to the developer list, or should I dig up the output of the failure? I don't believe that I had any problems installing from source (as in, lilypond seemed to compile cleanly as it didn't give me any errors), so I'm a little confused. Granted, the packaging instructions are about a half step short of being magic to me, so I can't begin to understand what went wrong or how to make it better :) Josiah ___ lilypond-user mailing list lilypond-user@gnu.org http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/lilypond-user
New user question
Title: New user question I have just completed my first score with LilyPond and I am *very* impressed and pleased with the quality and the flexibility I have. One of the main things I'm using it for is to rescore pieces to landscape and condensing out whitespace. Because of my vision (I have special glasses), and the angle a clarinet requires, wider and shorter is better. So far, it is working out beautifully. I do have two questions. I was able to reproduce my source score perfectly (with a couple of tweaks for the way I prefer) except for two things. I like to have every measure numbered under the staff (easy enough) except that I can't find a way to have the first measure labeled with a '1' (I have a pick-up (partial) measure so was hoping to be able to do this). When I don't have a pick-up measure, I don't care as much, but it would be nice to do this when I do have one. I haven't tried this, but would it work to put the \override's for the Score.BarNumber after the first note? Second, there are a pair of marks that I cannot find anywhere in the documentation. I've always heard them called "intro marks" though there may be a more "official" name; the first is the top and left lines of a square and the second is the top and right of a square. You see this a lot in hymns and are used to mark a phrase (such as part of the chorus) as what to play as an intro for the song. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Especially for all the great work! Stephen ___ lilypond-user mailing list lilypond-user@gnu.org http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/lilypond-user
