hi i want to test the half translated copy of brx bodo language in my
libreoffice 3.4.4 in ubuntu linux, how to do that. i mean how can i use the
brx copy of translation in live libreoffice 3.4.4.

Um.. what template? There are the i18npool/source/localedata/data/*.xml

Hi all, i just downloaded and install on Windows XP.
My File was LibO_3.3.4_Win_x86_helppack_brx.exe and
LibO_3.4.4_Win_x86_install_multi.exe
I install one after other and then run it. But where is Bodo language. Its
showing english only.
Can anyone tell me where do I need to change to make bodo as default..

Ah you've fallen foul of the not-so-intelligent installer. /me frowns in 
the direction of whoever thought that was a good idea


Best go to Tool > Options > Language Tools and choose Bodo for your user 
interface etc. That should change LO to Bodo.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "current months", is that the
month names as currently defined by the  element? Note
that  is an additional element and does not replace the
 element.

In context of the parser, the parser tries to match against both,
GenitiveMonths and MonthsOfYear elements, so if MonthsOfYear specifies
the month name without the leading "de " then things should still work
if they did before, I didn't try yet.

thank you but there is no my language from the drop down list. Except Bodo
everything is there. this might be because Bodo language is not included in
windows. Can you suggest more...because bodo is not listed from dropdown...

For User Interface Setting only four languages are there..
(Default) English (USA)
English (South Africa)
English (UK)
English (US)

No other option in User Interface dropdown.

But in Local Settings there are many except Bodo.

Please help i need to see my language.

Ah ok I think I know where you went wrong. Uninstall LO, then 
re-install. When it asks you whether you want Custom or Typical 
installtion, choose Custom. There's a dropdown where you can then select 
languages. Annoyingly, once you've installed it, you probably still have 
to go to the Tools menu to change it.


I did some screenshots for my locale, have a look at
http://www.foramnagaidhlig.net/foram/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=2075

That should make it clear.

With M, MM, MMM,  and M codes we can generate diferent months
strings. So, what code is used to generate GenitiveMonths strings? there
exists such code?

In Catalan, we use only de prepositon "de" (or d') in long date formats. So
current M, MM, MMM and  codes work fine. Is there some way to generate
 with a custom date format?

I think they use a similar approach for genitive case names (use them if

There is no new code. As said, the decision whether to display
nominative or genitive name is rule based during runtime:

* if a day of month is present in the format code, the genitive name for
  MMM and  is displayed
* if no day of month in the format code is oresent, the nominative name
  for MMM and  is displayed

The M code is a bit problematic, it can't be stored in the ODF file
format and is translated to an equivalent of MMM, so I didn't mention
that while I was at it I also added an optional 
element to the month (and day) name elements ;-)  Something for the
future.

Simple, the runtime rules are applied, no need for specific genitive
case date formats.

spellcheck. Can I get file mentioned, change case and send it to You for
commit?

I'd prefer you produce a diff against the previous version, but if
that's too complicated I'll also take an entire modified file, or just
a snippet with the updates.

For Estonian, a specific code (say, MM) would be useful, actually...
The most usual date format has month name in nominative, though, so it's
not that important. Besides, it would probably be outside the "scope" of
the feature discussed here :)

I presume you're not using source from the git repositories then,
otherwise you could just use

git diff pt_PT.xml >outputfile

in the i18npool/source/localedata/data/ directory with your modifed
pt_PT.xml. Without the git repository, if you're on a sane platform
(e.g. any Unix or Linux) or a sanitized Windows (i.e. cygwin) you
already should have a utility called diff. Copy the original file to
orig.pt_PT.xml, do your modifications in pt_PT.xml, then

diff -u orig.pt_PT.xml pt_PT.xml >outputfile

produces a diff file that you can attach to a mail message, which eases
things for me.

If all this is mumbo-jumbo to you just mail me the snippet with your
changes ;-)

Why? What's special for Estonian?

We currently can't introduce a new code as there is no specification how
to store it in ODF.

Well, let's go!. What I'm trying is

-For long dates, with the name of the day and it's number: «xueves, 25 
de xineru de 2034» or «llunes, 12 d'agostu de 2115»


-For long dates, only with the day's number: «25 de xineru de 2034» or 
«12 d'agostu de 2115»


-For shorter dates, just month's name without «de» or «d'»: «25 xin 
2034» or «12 ago 2115»


-For dates without the number, just month's name: «xineru de 2034» or 
«agostu de 2115»


My best guess for that is the attached file, I've included the full 
ast_ES.xml and not a .diff since it may be useful for catalan and 
galician/portuguese just by adapting months and days names to these 
languages. Also I've converted days, months and quarters names to 
lowercase following the Asturian Language Academy orthographic rules; 
the diff file may be longer than expected ;)
