KX-T: Certification Doesn't mean Nasty.

2002-02-10 Thread Mack's Communications

I have been watching this form for several months. I'm a certified Technician and I
have had a few questions answered by watching what responces are sent between
participants. In fact I had a question answered that Tech Support couldn't answer for
me.

I thought that this was a help form for those who are interested in Panasonic KX-T
Systems. Some of the certified people who get Nasty with the novice are not what I
like to see. In fact I have recommended to some of my customer to register on this
form if they have an interest in maintaining there own systems. That is what I
thought this form was for. So by being nasty about information doesn't help.

Enough said. Sorry but this was not to be Nasty it was to Help build a good dialoge
between participants.

RE: KX-T: Certification Class availability

2002-02-10 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]

1. Most classes are 3-5 days.
2. Class Schedules are compiled and posted on a quarterly basis, You must
call your Panasonic regional rep for class schedule and access. Classes are
usually at Panasonic in NJ, but there are classes in Atlanta too. There is a
pre-class exam for the tech you are sending to insure that the students have
a certain level of knowledge.
3. $800.00
4. NO, see answer in #2
5. You get whoever is available to teach the class. The NJ class is better
because the tech support team is there to help the instructor or if you have
specific needs that the instructor can't answer, he has a source down the
hall.

Several people have commented/questioned about the KX-TD* certification
class.

I would like to formalize the questions:

1. How long does the training last?
2. When and where is the training?
3. How much does the training cost?
4. Is there a Panasonic web site that lists the schedule?
5. Are any instructors to be sought out or avoided?

BTW: In the DCS (distributed control systems: e.g Honeywell, Foxboro,
Bailey, Yokogawa,...) world, training classes are an important source of
revenue for the manufacturer.

7. How many students are in each class? How many teachers?
8. Does the class include working with the hardware, or is it all

Fw: KX-T: Certification Class availability

2002-02-10 Thread Randy Dell

Additionally,

I have attended several classes, in Cypress California and Seattle
Washington.

Don Nulph is one of the 2 trainers in the CA offices, he has been with
Panasonic many years, does a good class.

In the TD and VM class I think there were 8 teams of 2 persons.

In the 500 class I think there were 8 persons.

Its hands on. In the 500 class you have to configure T1, and tie lines,
etc.

If you don't know who is the local rep, contact the local wholesalers,
Graybar, Alltel etc.

RE: KX-T: Re: Certification Doesn't mean Nasty.

2002-02-10 Thread Adam Savakus

As a 'civilian', I think there are a few 'rules' folks need to follow:

1. Understand that you are asking for free help, and nobody is obliged to
give this to you.

2. Try not to ask stupid questions: Make a reasonable attempt to research
the info first. If it is clear that you are not 'getting it' you'll need to
bring in outside help. Only so much handholding can be done. (Should I
suggest that the manual is a minimum requirement?)

3. Be gracious. Your frustrations are not caused by the folks here- rest
assured that they (may) share in your frustrations with Panasonic.

Just my observations. With 2 years of emails from this board, I can pretty
much do anything I need to on my system.

Thanks Guys!

Thank you Adam.

It's disheartening to have someone without a manual run to the kxt board
and ask questions to obvious answers.
Of course, I confess, I went through a "black period" around Christmas time
where my answers weren't as positive as they should have been. I resolved
to give free answers that take about 30 seconds to research or not answer
at all. Seems fair enough to me.

KX-T: 624 follow up on low door intercom volume

2002-02-10 Thread Bob Bruskin

Thanks everyone for all your suggestions. The card and the door box were OK. Wires
were more than adequate.
The suggestion that worked and worked well was to cut the speaker wire and extend it
just overhead to a 40 watt alarm speaker [8 ohms] available from any alarm supplier.
Works great and customer is happy. No amplifier was needed though that would have
been my next step.
And with I95 on an overhead pass within 100 feet and a 4 lane road out front, it is a
very noisy environment.
So thanks again for all the suggestions.

We all go thru the "black period" when we've come in from a hard day, and
decide to see what email we have from the board. What seems obvious to us
sometimes is just that. But how many times have you had the obvious stare you
in the face, and still miss it? The guys who complain about the system not
working when they use programminator, is just one example. The software was
designed as a hack for the software us certified guys have. In my opinion,
and this is just my opinion, there is no substitute for the real thing. You
don't put GM parts on a Ford and expect it to run 100%. The same is true
with 2nd party software. It's close, but not perfect. Dimitri may do a good
job with it, and I've looked at the demo, it's just not something I'd use,
because of the holes in it.

Nothing is better than good solid training, and the RIGHT tools. That's what
us certified guys offer.
