Re: KRnet> IFly on the 740 or Android
Registration appears low for the Gathering this year. If you haven't already registered please do so at www.krgathering.net Reminder: this year is a dual event with the Gathering happening at Mt.Vernon, Illinois on the same dates as the National Light Sport Expo. Separate events on the ramp but access to both. One trip for both events, a 2 for 1 special event. Re: KRnet> Engine Replacement
I did an engine change out from a Volkswagen 2180 to a 0-200. All I had to do was take pictures and send them to the fisdo and they signed it all off and sent it back. They gave me a five hour testing. Once I did that it was flying again Sent from my iPhone > On Mar 30, 2022, at 11:14 AM, Dave Klingler via KRnet > wrote: > > Hm. Do you have to have a service plan for the ifly to work on a tablet or does it get information from the ADSB I have never used it or foreflight Chadrobertson2951@ Gmail. Chad Robertson wrote: See https://www.iflygps.com/STORE/Product/annual-data-subscription for tablet or phone . $79.99 per year for VFR for two devices, add $24.99 for more. It works on Android devices, Windows, or Apple...iPhone. Something I left out of my rant the other day is about Foreflight. I have Foreflight also, which I keep on the phone because it has pretty good NEXRAD weather depiction, although now iFly is almost as good. Foreflight probably does everything you could imagine, but you need a pretty big brain in your head to keep it all straightat least I do! iFly is very intuitive, and very easy to use. I once tried to enter the GPS coordinates for a waypoint on the way to OSH using my MGL EIFIS, and after twenty minutes I gave up. I went to the iFly and had it done in under a minute! The waypoint was already there on the map, I just needed to drag the route over there and it was added! Lots of people swear by ForeFlight, but be prepared for a learning curve, one that I couldn't handle. KRnet> ADS-B / moving map

N6GM + Subscription for IFLY GPS is $79 a year for 2 platforms, $20 more and you can use it on 4 platforms. My wingtip Uavionics ADS-B out wing tip unit communicates with the xponder via aircraft wiring (magic), and my ADS-B in is a small $200 unit (don't recall the brand) on the shelf behind the seat and communicates via WIFI. My Insignia tablet has internal GPS and that may be required. Not sure how it all works together. It's just magic. Others more knowledgeable but you will need a moving map software for any setup. IFLY GPS offers a 30 day free trial with a simple download. Try it and see. Make sure that whatever you use is compatible before purchase. Larry Flesner P.S. My ads-b in unit is a Stratux. Paid $200 assembled. Here is one with a battery for $70. These are listed for $389 elsewhere. I have no idea who the seller is. Caviot Emptor or something like that. I had Latin class 60 years ago. https://tedcd.shop/product/blackfriday-stratux-ads-b-dual-band-receiver-aviation-weather-and-traffic-ahrs-battery-pack-suction-mount-internal-waas-gps-antennas-sdr-case-with-fan-for-foreflight-ifly-flyq-wingx -- KRnet mailing list KRnet@list.krnet.org https://list.krnet.org/mailman/listinfo/krnet
