[kwin] [Bug 501889] New: NVIDIA Driver 570.86.15 Breaks Wayland Display Restoration on RTX 4070 SUPER with Samsung G95SC - Fixed by Downgrading to 550
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=501889 Bug ID: 501889 Summary: NVIDIA Driver 570.86.15 Breaks Wayland Display Restoration on RTX 4070 SUPER with Samsung G95SC - Fixed by Downgrading to 550 Classification: Plasma Product: kwin Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: core Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: eschoeller+...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- (also submitted to NVIDIA) Description: Under Wayland on Kubuntu 24.10 with NVIDIA driver 570.86.15, turning off and on a Samsung G95SC monitor (connected via DisplayPort to an RTX 4070 SUPER) results in a blank screen requiring a TTY switch (TTY3 → TTY1) to restore the display. The same issue occurs when taking screenshots with Spectacle. Downgrading to driver 550 (e.g., 550.54.14) resolves both problems, with the display and screenshots working normally. Environment: OS: Kubuntu 24.10 (Plasma 6, Wayland session) Kernel: [Insert your kernel version, e.g., uname -r output like 6.11.0-9-generic] GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER Driver: 570.86.15 (broken), downgraded to 550 (fixed) Monitor: Samsung G95SC (OLED, likely 5120x1440 @ 240Hz), DisplayPort connection Compositor: KWin (Wayland) Steps to Reproduce: Boot into a Wayland session on Kubuntu 24.10 with NVIDIA driver 570.86.15. Connect an RTX 4070 SUPER to a Samsung G95SC via DisplayPort. Turn the monitor off, then back on after a few seconds. Result: Blank screen, monitor enters "no signal" countdown. Switching to TTY3 and back to TTY1 restores the display. Alternatively, open Spectacle and take a screenshot. Result: Same blank screen, same TTY workaround needed. Expected Behavior: Monitor should wake immediately with the desktop visible after being turned back on. Screenshots with Spectacle should complete without blanking the display. Actual Behavior: With driver 570.86.15, monitor reconnection fails (blank screen, "no signal" countdown). Spectacle screenshots trigger the same blank screen. Logs show Qt apps creating "fake screens" and Wayland globals dropping (e.g., qt.qpa.wayland: Creating a fake screen in order for Qt not to crash, foot: warn: wayland.c:1467: unknown global removed). Logs (from 570.86.15): Mar 22 16:54:20 hexoid plasmashell[3846]: qt.qpa.wayland: Creating a fake screen in order for Qt not to crash Mar 22 16:55:21 hexoid foot[4011]: warn: wayland.c:1467: unknown global removed: 0x0045 Mar 22 16:55:22 hexoid kernel: workqueue: nv_drm_handle_hotplug_event [nvidia_drm] hogged CPU for >1us 4 times (Full logs available if needed—fake screen messages repeat, hotplug warnings occasional.) Resolution: Downgraded to NVIDIA driver 550 (e.g., 550.54.14 via sudo apt install nvidia-driver-550). After reboot, monitor wakes instantly, and Spectacle screenshots work without issues. Additional Notes: Tested with nvidia-drm.modeset=1 in GRUB (GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash nvidia-drm.modeset=1"); reduced hotplug warnings but didn’t fix the issue. X11 session (Plasma X11) works perfectly with 570.86.15—no blank screen on monitor wake or screenshots. Suspect a regression in 570.86.15’s Wayland hotplug/output handling with KWin. Request: Please investigate driver 570.86.15’s Wayland compatibility with high-res monitors like the Samsung G95SC. Confirm if this is a known issue or fixed in a later release (post-570.86.15). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[digikam] [Bug 501834] Scanning a Directory also reads top tree
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=501834 --- Comment #4 from hoel...@cmhc.de --- (In reply to Maik Qualmann from comment #2) > Only the current album folder is executed during a refresh (reading the > metadata to the database). I tested it again here specifically. > > Does your album possibly contain symmolic links that digiKam could follow? > > Maik No, there are no symbolic links. The album is accessed over a network share (served via samba on debian 12), digikam is running on Windows 11. I did the following test, using one top folder with 578 subfolders (all album folders have been read into the database before): 1. Remove all subfolders except one empty one 2. Populate the remaining subfolder with 100 images 3. Execute "Refresh" on the subfolder Result: The refresh took about 10 Minutes, and digikam now displays only the one remaining subfolder, having removed all the other ones. So digikam is operating on the other album folders, at least reading the directory/file structure. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

On both x86 and amd64 ML_(do_syscall_for_client_WRK) (with sfMayBlock) both look OK. I found it, but it is a different style. It makes sense to show Width and Height always in the same spots, but greyed out or some indication that the setting is used differently if the window in horizontal or vertical mode. I do not want a tall panel when it is on the bottom, but I do want a wide panel when it is on the side. It would make sense to have Panel Width and Panel Height both be both shown all the time, but have the one that is active shown as such. Dialogs and interfaces that change are an obstruction to usability. and or, show in the title that the Panel is a Vertical panel or a horizontal panel Primary Length is the one that has the fancy shrink and fill logic on. I know there are names for these things in configurations, so there may be one setting that is used different ways, Then show it twice until the next major revision, or add a config option that overrules the single setting. It's quite late at night so I honestly didn't want to try debugging too much, however after an update my Dolphin file manager and the desktop all of a sudden crashed and after rebooting I couldn't login to the desktop (SDDM works though) and when going to run "kstart5 plasmashell" in TTY it says: qt.qpa.xcb: could not connect to display qt.qpa.plugin: From 6.5.0, xcb-cursor0 or libxcb-cursor0 is needed to load Qt xcb platform plugin. qt.qpa.plugin: Could not load the Qt platform plugin "xcb" in "" even though it was found. This application failed to start because no Qt platform plugin could be initialized. Reinstall the application may fix this problem. Available platform plugins are: vnc, vkkhrdisplay, eglfs, xcb, wayland, minimal, offscreen, linuxfb, minimalegl, wayland-egl. I use the open-dkms-nvidia drivers, SDDM, and Wayland. Any ideas on how to fix it without having to reinstal Plasma? Thanks, sorry for the grammar errors or for the question having an easy answer, it's quite late. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Update system 2. Reboot 3. Login to the account using SDDM OBSERVED RESULT With Wayland it crashes instantly (A black screen that returns to SDDM), with X11 Discord opens up with nothing else working (Alt+F2 opens window, but it doesn't run anything) EXPECTED RESULT The desktop working as expected with the wallpaper, applications, and else working. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=500418 Urs Fleisch changed: What|Removed |Added Resolution|--- |UPSTREAM Status|REPORTED|RESOLVED --- Comment #1 from Urs Fleisch --- Unfortunately, these new atom types introduced by Apple for classical music are not supported by mp4v2. You have to disable the Mp4v2Metadata plugin so that TaglibMetadata is used for MP4 files, TagLib supports more atom types, however, it does not support MP4 chapters, which is probably the reason why you have Mp4v2Metadata activated. That is also the reason why "Movement Number" can't be typed in - it is not supported. You can type in anything, but then you will get a free form atom, as you experienced. So this is not a bug in Kid3. If you want to see support for more atoms in mp4v2, you will have to file a bug or pull request at https://github.com/enzo1982/mp4v2. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Konsole sort of does, although it doesn't show the popup selector that Kate shows (instead, it immediately changes to the tab, but at least it does so in most recently used order). [kmymoney] [Bug 501597] Reports not work in Master
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=501597 --- Comment #20 from Brendan --- I think you found the reason the reports tab shows up but is not working correctly on one system. It appears that on that system an old version was not uninstalled back in October. So the real question is why isn't it being created on any of my systems. When I compile a new version and install it, the first thing my script does is uninstall from the previously installed build. Something must have gone wrong with the process on that one system. That's about the time I was able to get the master to compile and install so that might be a 5.1 file. I wonder what else may be left behind.
