[Spectacle] [Bug 500937] In the Region mode, provide an obvious way to reset selection to fullscreen
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=500937 --- Comment #4 from Jin Liu --- (In reply to Nate Graham from comment #3) > In the git master version, while on the rectangular region overlay, you can > click New Screenshot > Full Screen. That'll take a full screen screenshot > and bring you to the viewer window, and from there you can annotate, copy, > export, save, etc. > > Is there a reason this isn't good enough? 1. That would take a new screenshot, where the screen content might have changed from the original screenshot. 2. Personally, I use the rectangular mode as the single entry point for all Spectacle functions (never managed to remember all different shortcuts). So I'd prefer doing everything in the same UI, instead of some in a different "viewer" UI. But if you go back to the same text in the clipboard history after a while (click on the entry and make it relevant), then the non-English text message is replaced by an escape sequence. For example, this is how the inserted text with Ukrainian and English characters looks like: ``` Test \u0442\u0435\u0441\u0442 ``` At the same time, the text is displayed normally in the Clipboard History. When you click "Edit", the text is also displayed normally, but when pasted, the escape sequence is replaced. This behavior appeared after yesterday's Manjaro update. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. [plasmashell] [Bug 500955] NVIDIA dGPU with RTD3 support could not be turned off due to plasmashell using the GPU in Wayland session
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=500955 --- Comment #2 from Sam Duan --- (In reply to Nate Graham from comment #1) > Is there an integrated GPU on the system that Plasmashell could use instead? Being a laptop, there is an Intel iGPU available. I have checked intel_gpu_top, kwin_wayland runs on the iGPU, but the dGPU is still occupied. BTW, I have used supergfxctl to fully shutdown the dGPU, and when I switched from iGPU only to hybrid mode with it and loged off just now for some testing, the dGPU seemed not to be occupied in a new Plasma session without the panels loaded. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[plasmashell] [Bug 375943] With non-grouped windows, audio icon shown on all windows sharing a PID and parent program, not just the window actually playing sound
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=375943 --- Comment #44 from pallaswept --- > I wonder if we should consider just removing the audio badge functionality > entirely. If it simply can't be made to work accurately, it's something > people can't rely on and therefore not something we should be implicitly > promising by making available. I mean you're not wrong it is kinda busted but... It works for most apps, and even on those where it's inaccurate, I still find it useful. We get a quick, per-application ID and mute button either way. It would be nice if we also got it per-window, but I still think it's worth keeping without that. I understand the replies above see the entire feature as useless, but obviously their use-case is 'identify which window from this one app is playing the sound' where it is still useful for 'identify which application is playing the sound'. > If the issue is essentially impossible to fix with the relevant software > stack's current technical infrastructure, I spent a lot of hours testing different apps' behaviours but it made for a very long reply, so if you want those details feel free to quiz me. It seems like this is mostly a firefox and chrome thing, and is fixable on firefox. Chrome looks hopeless, there's very little metadata to work with. Media streams are all just called "playback". But if they did set some identifiable metadata, it could work. I guess the 'correct' thing is to use the APIs of the sound servers. Kai mentioned in the first comment there pulse's window.id and now pipewire has application.id natively and supports the pulse stuff as well. https://freedesktop.org/software/pulseaudio/doxygen/proplist_8h.html#a9fdf6146c8c9f1a5bf2bae0f5ac15c80 https://docs.pipewire.org/group__pw__keys.html#ga7e7975fdc1d4879492d18bd5737fc7d7 If task manager used that method, it'd at least be reasonable to say "well we support it, now it's up to your app, closed downstream". That seems to go really well with my case manager hat ;) I noticed in the past few hours testing, examples of applications which already set this property, are kded, kdeconnectd and libcanberra It seems very rare, though, and even those which set it don't appear to be window-specific. It may be technically correct and theoretically perfect, but given lack of application support, it's probably the least-functional approach in reality. So even if Task Manager did this, it would be nice to have a fallback to the per-application behaviour we have now, or maybe an enhanced version which matches other more specific stream metadata beyond application name/pid/binary name/etc, like grabbing media.name to specify firefox tabs. Trying to think of alternatives to those approaches, if keeping the promise is the goal, perhaps a graphical approach to an audio problem... sound icons which play from a different PID to the window shown, could be marked somehow. Y'know like something that communicates, 'this sound icon is different to the others, that sound could be from any of these windows, so if you click it, we mute them all'. Something like a chain-link badge on the icons, to indicate they are 'linked'? So yeh TLDR it is kinda broken, and kinda fixable but also kinda only in theory... but it's still good. Pls no delete mute icon. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Under the "Member (0)" list it shows 3 users including myself. In the "Members" top-most header it sas there is "1 member" If I look at this channel in Element their website it is 19, the matrix.to link shows 19 and Fluffy Chat on my Android phone shows 19. As I was typing this out (roughly 3 minutes after joining the room) the members list changed to the correct value of 19. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Join a room 2. Some games like "Heroes of Hammerwatch" detect this input and you get stuck walking left forever. The only 2 keyboards I have tested this issue with are both ZSA-brand split keyboards running QMK firmware: an "Ergodox EZ" and a "Moonlander". For me the Ergodox is shown in the Game Controller dropdown as "ZSA Technology Labs Ergodox EZ System Control" in /dev/input/event21 STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. [plasmashell] [Bug 436318] Implement real session save/restore on Wayland
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=436318 --- Comment #207 from devsk --- (In reply to Patrick O'Callaghan from comment #205) > > So this patch has actually nothing to do with session restore. I'd suggest > posting it somewhere else to avoid confusion. Yes. I don't think anybody cares about flipping the gestures behavior. I will keep this patch around. > I've had a quick look at your scripts but haven't tried them. They seem > quite complicated, but maybe they do more than mine. I've taken note of how > you use 'kdotool windowmove' and have added this to my own scripts (don't > know why I hadn't noticed this before :-). I'll upload them shortly (still > not very familiar with Gist to be honest). Yes. My script does do way more..:-) It saves a lot more information in a format which is easily read in bash. Then, it starts all the apps and waits for the user to ack the restoration process which restores their desktop, position and size. I had to add a lot of code for robustness e.g. some random processes make their way into 'kdotool search' when they don't have a real window associated with them e.g. plasmashell. For example, restoring from X11 to wayland, the window class changes from konsole to org.kde.konsole. For example, the size and location on wayland are floating point numbers sometimes, which was not apparent until wayland locked up on creating a window with 0 size with infinite memory allocation loop and got killed by OOM. For example, if you saved session from a crontab periodically, kdotool just doesn't find any windows because crontab does not have access to the user environment to access the DBUS. Lots of accounting for quirks. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

I always use "Save As" for annotated images and I've noticed that the "Save As" dialog will suggest as filename the very string defined in "Configure Spectacle -> Image Saving -> Filename:" e.g. `Screenshot__` instead of say 'Screenshot_20250121_113120' IF the image has been modified by Spectacle's own editor. The behavior is odd if not a plain bug because the very same "Save As" dialog, when invoked from the same Spectacle window but WITHOUT any annotation done, will suggest the filename with the placeholders correctly replaced by actual values. [kde] [Bug 501087] New: applications are started twice (or third)
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=501087 Bug ID: 501087 Summary: applications are started twice (or third) Classification: I don't know Product: kde Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org Reporter: hans.ullr...@loop.de Target Milestone: --- Dear developers, there is s a little issue with KDE I want to tell you. It is not easy to describe, but please let me try:: When you have some application running, that got in its settings an option like "start with windowmanager" and this is activated, then this will be started as usual. As you know, KDE (plasma) also has the option, to save the actual state of running, and restore it at restart. BUT: When, you do this with such running applications, then at next start of KDE, those aplications are started twice, one because its own settings, the other because of KDE`s setting. This should not happen. A workaround is, stopping these applications and save state again, but that is of course not the comfortable way. Applications with this behaviour for this are for example keepassxc, kmail, barrier, telegram or signal. There are probably more. Although some applications got the option in theire setting "start only a single instance", there are two of them running (check with keepassxc). I can not say, which part is responsible for this, but it would be nice, if you could take an eye on it. Thank you very much! (And also for such great windowmanager!)
