[frameworks-kio] [Bug 499727] KIO worker fails to create if the application name is longer than 66 characters
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=499727 --- Comment #2 from Frank Fischer --- (In reply to Nicolas Fella from comment #1) > We are probably hitting a socket name limit here. > > Out of curiosity, how did you find this? The problem occurred in the Lazarus IDE for free pascal if using the Qt5 or Qt6 backends. Lazarus (whether this is a good idea is a different question) changes the application title depending on the current project's path, i.e. by default it includes the full project path in the application title. And this title can become quite long. Someone in their forum found out that setting the application title to something different (i.e. shorter, not including the project path) seems to solve the problem (the application title is a user setting in Lazarus). I hit the same problem and realized that it occurred only for some projects, but not for all, and from there, only for some application titles but not for all. The rest of the story was just playing around and trying to find a small example to demonstrate the issue. So currently, at least for Lazarus, this is a real problem not just an artificial one (luckily one with simple workaround for now). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kmymoney] [Bug 499728] New: CVS Importer Improvements
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=499728 Bug ID: 499728 Summary: CVS Importer Improvements Classification: Applications Product: kmymoney Version: git (master) Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: kmymoney-de...@kde.org Reporter: k...@coupe7.com Target Milestone: --- Unfortunately I can no longer import OFX files from some of my accounts. I have switched to CSV files where possible. I think the import process could be a little easier. Save the defaults on the first screen. If the last time I imported a CSV file I used the banking options and I checked "Skip setup", have those selected the next time I use the CSV import option. Saving these regardless of the account I last imported to would be great, recognizing which account I am currently looking at in the ledger and saving them for each account would be even better. After selecting the CSV file and clicking "Import CSV", find a way to pre-select the account that you want to import the transactions to. I suspect this is not easy since there is no account information like there is in an OFX file. I have a couple of suggestions: 1) Base it on the file name of the CSV file. Require the CSV file name to match the account name in KMM (which mine do) in order to pre-select the account name in the drop down list in the account selection dialog box. 2) If #1 above fails to match an account, use the account that is currently active in the ledger. In both cases the the account selection dialog box should probably open so you can change accounts if necessary. It might make sense to make this an option in the KMM settings so that it can keep working as it does today for those that like it the way it is. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kwin] [Bug 464611] Tiling - ability to be able to use 2 zones simultaneously
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=464611 --- Comment #10 from Alexandre Pereira --- (In reply to Nate Graham from comment #7) > Yes, but then I answered my own question. :) Really sorry for missing the reply!!! My issue for editing the config file directly, is because the editor is really hard to use, in terms that I like similar values, like 62% vs 38% width, which is almost impossible to get to the right pixel in the editor. Also, what I am trying to do, is a zone (lets say left area), that if I drag it into the middle, it uses full height, if I drag it to the top it only uses top half of that zone (left zone), and if I drag it to the bottom, only uses bottom zone. Similar to normal tiling, where it can use 50% width and 100% height/50% height top/50% height bottom. In the editor this is almost impossible to do, since dragging the zones correctly by 1px is a chore, and even if possible, the editor has an issue that making the a zone below another, the one below is inaccessible. Hope that is clear, I am having difficulties trying to put it into words :) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

For example: Scrolling the volume widget from the panel. This applies not only to just scrolling on the widget icon to change volume, but also the sliders within the widgets themselves. The following are affected: - Scrolling the Volume Icon - Scrolling the Volume Widget view sliders - Scrolling the Brightness Widget view sliders - Scrolling the Power Management view sliders Unaffected: - Notification widget view STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open System Settings and go to Input & Output > Mouse & Touchpad > Mouse. 2. Under Scrolling, toggle Invert Scroll Direction on and click Apply. 3. Ensure the volume widget is added to your panel. 4. Test by scrolling the volume widget icon or its sliders on the panel. 5. Observe the scroll direction is not inverted per the user preferences. OBSERVED RESULT The scroll direction for the volume widget and its sliders remains unchanged, not reflecting the Invert Scroll Direction preference. EXPECTED RESULT The scroll direction for the volume widget, as well as the sliders in the widget, should follow the user’s Invert Scroll Direction preference, i.e., scrolling should be inverted (natural scrolling). [systemsettings] [Bug 340982] No way to change the systemwide date and time formats but not their actual translated text
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=340982 --- Comment #288 from Kevin Kofler --- KDE is not a distro, it is a project shipping several things. The main product KDE Plasma is not a distro either, it is a desktop environment. As far as I know, the other desktop environments, apart from Trinity (fork of KDE 3), do not offer systemwide custom locales either. Any custom date/time format there only affects the desktop environment itself (the clock widget in the taskbar) and no applications (except maybe the file manager if you are lucky), because the applications are typically not part of the desktop environment. The only desktop environment that has a comparable application selection (coming from the same project) to KDE Plasma is GNOME. And as far as I know, GNOME does not offer such a setting. GNOME generally by design offers as few settings as possible because they believe too many settings confuse users (with which I strongly disagree). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

This doesn't synchronize panels after changing them; rather, that's what https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=446654 is for. This feature will easily mislead people to think it helps with synchronizing panels automatically, when all it does is clone them initially when you connect a new monitor. It will not keep them in sync. (In reply to Maxim from comment #7) > I'm just saying that if such an approach can be implemented in a reasonable > time, it would already be a huge relief comparing to the lack of any cloning > options atm. That doesn't cancel the fact the actual mirroring of a panel > would be really nice to have and I don't see this proposal to be a > replacement of mirroring. Rather a quick workaround or (better) an available > alternative to mirroring. I can definitely see your perspective here, and that's fair enough--again, as long as it's made very clear this feature won't automatically sync/mirror panels. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[plasmashell] [Bug 497100] Feature Request: Automatically clone selected panels when connecting a new display
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=497100 Grant Gryczan changed: What|Removed |Added CC||grantgryc...@gmail.com --- Comment #3 from Grant Gryczan --- As a proponent of https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=446654, I strongly disagree with this suggestion (though perhaps out of ignorance of its purpose?). I would expect the purpose of automatically cloning to be to keep them in sync between different monitors. If that's not possible, it would be superfluous and potentially misleading to only initially clone automatically but not automatically clone upon further changes to the original panel. Users may expect they will remain in sync. You could solve this by somehow adding extra clarification to this option, but I don't understand the benefit of it being automatic if the cloned configuration won't also automatically remain in sync. If users have to create the initial clone manually, then it's much more natural an understanding that it won't remain in sync in the future, and they'll have to clone manually again to keep it in sync. Keeping them in sync will require cloning manually down the line either way, so forcing users to do it manually to begin with makes it clear what they'll have to do, and how to do it, in the future. It's generally very rare you plug in a new monitor, so in the vast majority of cases I would expect it to be easier & more intuitive to simply clone it once or twice than to find and check a box that does so automatically (and understand its drawbacks). What's the value add? I must be misinterpreting the point if it isn't to try to maintain the same panel on multiple monitors. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[konsole] [Bug 499737] New: Offset text after paste
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=499737 Bug ID: 499737 Summary: Offset text after paste Classification: Applications Product: konsole Version: master Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: konsole-de...@kde.org Reporter: jus...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY This is hard to describe but, I'll do my best. I'm using Konsole from git master and bash. I have a custom PS1 for bash and a large .bashrc file which I'll share if desired after I strip it of any personal info. Sometimes when I paste some text, the start of where text input is changes. For example, I pasted a string of text into my terminal just now and it happened. I pasted clusha text in the konsole with Ctrl Shift V. However, the terminal then shows clusclusha. If I press the home key to go to the start of the line, I see the cursor under the second 'c' character. And if I type 'abc' it now shows clusabcclusha. That 'abc' entry is now at the start of my text, even though it shows as part way in. This issue has been happening for a long time, but I moved to fish for a while and didn't have the issue. I recently moved back to bash to test something and ran into it again and figured it was time to report it. [kwin] [Bug 499732] New: Inconsistent Monitor / Screen Indexes for Window Rules
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=499732 Bug ID: 499732 Summary: Inconsistent Monitor / Screen Indexes for Window Rules Classification: Plasma Product: kwin Version: 6.2.5 Platform: Fedora RPMs OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: rules Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: aeryn.evert...@gmail.com CC: isma...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Whenever my monitors go into power save / sleep mode, or when I reboot, the order of my screens for the purposes of Window Rules is reshuffled. This does not involve adding or removing monitors from the system, though it is possible that some of the monitors stop being detected by the system while in power save mode. This makes using an app that *must* be on the primary screen to work properly a pain in the butt, as I have to change my window rules every time. Further, as display numbers don't seem to be shown in Display and Monitor Settings, determining which screen is which is a matter of trial and error. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Have three monitors connected (In my case, 1x MSI MPG 341CX QD-OLED, and 2x Dell G2724D) 2. Either put the screens to sleep *or* reboot the computer. 3. Screen Numbers are now randomized. OBSERVED RESULT Screen Index for window rules has been randomized, and windows rules need changed to assign windows to the correct screens. EXPECTED RESULT Screen Indexes remain consistent so long as the same display setup remains in use. *Ideally*, this would follow the Screen Priorities setting, to allow users control over these indexes, and allow them to remain somewhat consistent between types of setups even as screen are connected and disconnected. Alternatively, a window rule option that allows setting screen by some sort of monitor ID / serial number specific to the monitor hardware (and doing nothing if said monitor is not connected) would be extremely useful, allowing very fine control over the windows in specific setups. I've been spending some time investigating this. In the end, it turns out this is a problem with the upstream VLC library. We can't do anything to solve it on our end, so I'll close the bug here. Feel free to open a bug against libVLC. Switching to another backend is also not a good solution. Here I list the steps I follow but I don’t know what conditions are important. Procedure - Open a directory with Gwenview. - The directory has 72 images from 7MB to 11MB, but I've been able to replicate it with smaller images. - Display the images in the `Browse` view - Set the zoom so the vertical scrollbar is about half the window. - Select the last visible image with the vertical scrollbar all to the top - Start deleting images from the the selected image to the first one. Move using the arrow keys. - Repeat delete process if the app doesn’t crash - I've seen it crash at the 6th deleted image but sometimes it takes more than 20 deleted images, or even it doesn't happen and I need to copy the images and try again. [kwin] [Bug 499733] New: Review and deal with p-p-d configurable actions
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=499733 Bug ID: 499733 Summary: Review and deal with p-p-d configurable actions Classification: Plasma Product: kwin Version: git master Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: jpe...@petsovits.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Mario Limonciello has merged his patch for power-profiles-daemon to allow enabling or disabling power actions, and added AMD GPU actions that are disabled by default. This change will be part of the 0.24 release once it comes out. Two links into the MR that seem relevant to us: - https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/upower/power-profiles-daemon/-/merge_requests/210/diffs#note_2768758 - https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/upower/power-profiles-daemon/-/merge_requests/210/diffs#8ec9a00bfd09b3190ac6b22251dbb1aa95a0579d_58_58 Specifically, he mentions that he expects desktop environments to expose the actions "amdgpu_dpm" ("Adjust GPU dynamic power management") and "amdgpu_panel_power" ("Panel Power Savings (may affect color quality)") to users. Those make for a bad default experience, but could be right for an informed user who prefers battery life over fidelity. We already have a "Prefer efficiency" vs. "Prefer color accuracy" setting in the Display Configuration KCM, I don't know how that would interact with these new settings. Filing as bug for awareness at least until the KWin team determines what to do (or what not to do) about it. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kmymoney] [Bug 499729] New: Create a Lock File when running KMM
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=499729 Bug ID: 499729 Summary: Create a Lock File when running KMM Classification: Applications Product: kmymoney Version: git (master) Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: kmymoney-de...@kde.org Reporter: k...@coupe7.com Target Milestone: --- I use KMM on various systems and I sync my KMM data file in real time with Syncthing. This can cause problems if I forget that it's open on one system when I open it on a different system. To get around this, I run KMM using a bash script that checks for the presence of a lock file named "MyFileName.kmy.lock". If the lock file is present, my script reads the hostname from the lock file and uses zenity to open a dialog box telling me that KMM is already open on the hostname stored in the lock file and it does NOT run KMM. If the lock file is not present, my script creates the lock file and copies the hostname into the lock file. When KMM closes, the lock file is removed. It would be nice if this functionality was all handled by KMM. It could be turned on and off in the KMM settings since some people may prefer it the way it is today. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[systemsettings] [Bug 340982] No way to change the systemwide date and time formats but not their actual translated text
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=340982 --- Comment #286 from RJVB --- (In reply to Kevin Kofler from comment #284) > * Even now, it is not too late to reintroduce a KLocale Framework, either > resurrecting and porting the original KLocale code or rewriting it from > scratch, and getting Plasma and those KDE Applications (be they Gear or > Extragear ones) that display dates and/or times to use it. Third-party Qt > applications will then likely follow if they care at all. There is a more flexible possibility but one that has to be implemented at the Qt level : allow a plugin (e.g. the platform theme plugin) to provide an alternative/extended locale implementation, just as the file dialogs can be altered through a plugin. Even "pure Qt" applications could have their date/time formats determined according to KDE conventions or, in another universe, by GTk/Gnome conventions. If the military want to pay Qt to implement that, great, let 'em be useful for a change. O:^) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[Haruna] [Bug 499342] Haruna crashes when dragging the progress bar to the end of huge video files
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=499342 --- Comment #8 from george fb --- There's the point posting videos showing the bug. What you need to post is a backtrace with debug symbols installed, as described in the page https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[Haruna] [Bug 499342] Haruna crashes when dragging the progress bar to the end of huge video files
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=499342 Fernando M. Muniz changed: What|Removed |Added Resolution|WAITINGFORINFO |--- Assignee|georgefb...@gmail.com |fernandommu...@gmail.com Status|NEEDSINFO |REPORTED --- Comment #9 from Fernando M. Muniz --- Created attachment 178092 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=178092&action=edit It crashes with light Short videos. Seems like the real issue is that Haruna panics when holding the end of the progress bar because it will replay the video multiple times under per second, which crashes the player. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/zT0SRSh0JIo The only solution seems to be not allowing videos to replay if the user is holding the progress bar, otherwise it will replay until it crashes or hard resets the video. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
