There is a more flexible possibility but one that has to be implemented at the
Qt level : allow a plugin (e.g. the platform theme plugin) to provide an
alternative/extended locale implementation, just as the file dialogs can be
altered through a plugin. Even "pure Qt" applications could have their
date/time formats determined according to KDE conventions or, in another
universe, by GTk/Gnome conventions.

If the military want to pay Qt to implement that, great, let 'em be useful for
a change. O:^)
