Network Configuration Assistant Online Course and Badge
Hello list, I am Alicia, content designer for IBM Configuration Assistant for z/OS Communications Server. IBM Configuration Assistant for z/OS Communications Server, also known as Network Configuration Assistant or NCA, provides a guided interface to help you create and manage TCP/IP profiles, and simplify configuration of TCP/IP policy-based networking functions. You can import your existing TCP/IP profiles into the NCA. This function eliminates the need to recreate your TCP/IP configuration by hand in the NCA, giving you an accurate representation of your existing configuration within the NCA GUI and enabling you to begin working with your existing configuration right away. Recently, my team created an online course about TCP/IP profile configuration with the NCA. After completing this course, you will be able to use the NCA to create and manage TCP/IP profiles, including import of existing profiles, dynamic reconfiguration of running stacks, and configuration for disaster recovery and planned outages. If you pass the final assessment of this course, you will earn an IBM Open Badge ( http://ibm.biz/NCAbadge). With IBM open badges, you can easily and quickly share verified proof of your achievements both within IBM and externally. Course Link: http://ibm.biz/NCATCPIPcourse Estimated Time: 3 hours and 30 minutes Thanks, Alicia Mao -- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to lists...@listserv.ua.edu with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN
Re: z15 System Recover Boost
We have it running on our z15 and added shutdown boost to our automation . I followed this white paper to have it set up. Since it is included in z15 I can't see any reason not to use it. We have not measured if it helps ipl and shutdown but it works without problems and that is good. http://publibz.boulder.ibm.com/zoslib/pdf/z15SystemRecoveryBoostWhitePaper.pdf Doug >By the end of the month we will have a z15 running. Re: z15 System Recover Boost
All, Just to be a little clearer about those HW feature codes... For SRB, what are no extra charge z15 HW functions (there is no priced SRB feature in z/OS V2.3 or V2.4!): Sub-capacity to full-capacity boost for CPs, zIIP boost that use a client’s entitled zIIPs, and GDPS scripting and firmware enhancements (if you are a GDPS customer). For SRB *if* you decide you want it, as priced z15 HW features (9930 and 6802, fairly newly renamed): a priced activation of extra zIIP capacity for boost usage. -Marna WALLE z/OS System Installation IBM Poughkeepsie -- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to lists...@listserv.ua.edu with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN

First, "Fifth" & "Third" are ordinal numbers in this context, not denominators. The slash in the logo is merely to distinguish it from "fifty-three". Second, since that looks like an (improper) fraction, some play on numbers came into use. And no one expected it to be subjected to meticulous scrutiny. Charles Mills' comment on engineers' humor is starting to sound more sarcastic than I first thought ;-). sas On Fri, Jan 10, 2020 at 12:53 PM Mike Schwab wrote: > Fifth is 1/5, Third is 1/3, > Fifth Third might be expressed as 1/5 1/3. > Maybe abbreviate to /5 /3 assuming the 1. > Improperly drop the first / to get the 5/3. -- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to lists...@listserv.ua.edu with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN

Of course one of the things that makes it amusing is that all highly skilled teckies get irritated by people that are too dumb to realize they are dumb. AW: TN3270 from 3174 -ExSel Problem
HI, Found that for Alfaskop 41: http://storage.datormuseum.se/u/96935524/Datormusuem/Alfaskop/Alfaskop_System_41_Terminal_Console_Functions_and_Customizing_Instructions_IBM_3270_Emulation.pdf http://www.datormuseum.se/peripherals/terminals/alfaskop Interesting story: Beginning in the late sixties continuing in late nineties there were development of IBM compatible terminal system under the brand Alfaskop. At the beginning the terminals were compatible with the IBM 2260, but the later models were 3270 compaible. The System 41 depicted above were actually an entire system that could either run various terminal emulation software or a be used as a personal computer running UCSD p-System. The development took placed under many different companies ownership. It started in ITT owned SRT (Standard Radio och Telefon) and then transfered into Stansaab onto Datasaab, which then was bought by Ericsson. Ericsson sold the division to Nokia that sold it to ICL and then it ended up with computer terminal manufacturer Wyse who closed down operation in 1998.
