Re: [GNC] Find what was in Accounts Payable some date in the past.
The Payables Aging Report will tell you the *amount* that is outstanding, and to who, and with an aging time frame, as of the date of the report. Once you have the Payables Aging Report - you know who you owed money to as of that date and how much. To see which bills that entails, you have to click the total amount owed to that vendor, which will then give you a Vendor Report where you can choose in Options to see the Detailed Links that show you which payments apply to which bills and which bills were covered by which payments, and thus figure out what exactly was owed and why as of a particular date. (with aging info on both reports) You may need or want to alter this reports date range as well. You *could* just run the vendor report correctly, but running the Aging Report first quickly highlights the amounts and vendors to target for further investigation. I'm fairly convinced it should be £0.00, as I try to settle anything owed near the end of the accounting period. But clearly it is not showing zero, and in fact has never shown zero. There is an £8.99 balance carried forward, and quite often the running balance falls to £8.99. Then after 12/4/22, the balance does not fall to £8.99, and I can't see why. [image: image.png] Then lots more, and ending. It's not obvious to me what is causing this, and I can't seem to find a list what was supposed to be outstanding here. ___ gnucash-user mailing list gnucash-user@gnucash.org To update your subscription preferences or to unsubscribe: https://lists.gnucash.org/mailman/listinfo/gnucash-user - Please remember to CC this list on all your replies. Not so. Go back and read my replies again. You absolutely can get what you are looking for after the fact. Most accountants just want the total AP number. Your input is most welcome. You need to create a security before you can link it to an account. Please read the Tutorial and the Help on creating securities. The reason you can't complete adding the security isn't because you haven't installed Finance:Quote, it's because you've left Namespace blank (I think). I'm on an earlier version but in the one I have you can't leave Namespace blank. Mine defaults to AMEX (no idea why, unless because it's first alphabetically) but as the Help says you can put anything you like if the security you're interested in isn't one of the predefined ones (apparently your version doesn't have any predefined). ___ gnucash-user mailing list gnucash-user@gnucash.org To update your subscription preferences or to unsubscribe: https://lists.gnucash.org/mailman/listinfo/gnucash-user - Please remember to CC this list on all your replies. Re: [GNC] Have I got my USD accounts set up wrong?
David, I could be mistaken, but I think this is influencing your reporting problem. (if the A/P side looks like what you posted below concerning A/R) I'm hazarding a guess that: Assets:Accounts Receivable:Accounts Receivable is in GBP, though you have no indication in the name. If so, I'd rename it. It is possible you don't even need it if that is your book currency. Just stick with the original Assets:Accounts Receivable, but you should verify that. (a single currency book, just has the one account) Either way, I don't think those USD & EUR A/R accounts should be children of a child of A/R. (at least that is how your indentation reads below) Make a copy of your book and test out if one of these does the trick by editing one bill and/or payment accordingly (you might be able to just re-parent the account(s) though: Assets:A/R --Assets:A/R (GBP) --Assets:A/R (USD) --Assets:A/R (EUR) or perhaps more simply: Assets:A/R --Assets:A/R (USD) --Assets:A/R (EUR) Where each child is specifically set to those named currencies and the parent A/R is in your book currency. Re: [GNC] Find what was in Accounts Payable some date in the past.
Weird. Without that bill, do the vendors show but with everything as zero balances? If not, try Options > General > Show zero balance items. If that works and your balances are all zero as of the end of Feb '22, then your A/P as of that date was indeed zero. Any discrepancy otherwise *might* be a multi-currency related bug. Note, some reports still have bugs with multi-currency. I know the Balance Sheet is one. It is possible the P&L and/or Trial Balance also have such bugs. If that is the case, you might have to run each of those for each currency, (Options > Commodities) and manually (using some copy/paste steps to a spreadsheet) assemble a combined report from them pulling only the relevant figures. And if you can verify that all is correct on your end, file a bug report with the details you found, or amend an existing bug or bugs. If I recall, there hasn't been much real-world testing of multi-currency for most reports. [GNC] How do I add AP and AR for multiple currencies?
Reading https://www.gnucash.org/docs/v5/C/gnucash-guide/currency_manual.html it describes how to set up *banks *for multiple currencies -Assets (USD) -Current Assets (USD) -US Bank (USD) -European Bank (EUR) -HK Bank (HKD) -Equity (USD) -Opening Balances (USD) -USD (USD) -EUR (EUR) -HKD (HKD) but there's nothing I can see written about setting up AR or AP. I currently have the following setup, and I'm starting to suspect that this might be wrong, as GnuCash is not generating reports properly. [image: image.png] Assets > Accounts Receivable is a GBP account. It's used for 95% of the transactions. It has child-accounts (sub-accounts?) of USD and EUR. I'm wondering if it is necessary to have instead either 1) Assets:Accounts Receivable *(placeolder account)* Assets:Accounts Recieive:Accounts Recievable (GBP) Assets:Accounts Recieive:Accounts Recievable (EUR) Assets:Accounts Recieive:Accounts Recievable (USD) or 2) Assets:Accounts Receivable(GBP)* (rename the current AR)* Assets:Accounts Receivable(USD) Assets:Accounts Receivable(EUR) If I need to change my current setup, then it is going to be a real PITA. Re: [GNC] How do I add AP and AR for multiple currencies?
As I noted in the other thread, you might not have to delete any transactions, just re-parent the account(s). In a worst case, you'd have to unpost and repost bills/invoices accordingly if you need to assign some to a different AR/AP account. Well against my own advice, and submitted the lack of documentation as a bug. https://bugs.gnucash.org/show_bug.cgi?id=799146 I'm not going to say there's a bug in the reports, as the problem might be my errors. Yes, that's right. The GnuCash word for a read-only account is a Placeholder. On your Accounts panel, you may want to click the down arrow at the extreme right of the headings row, and tick (check) Placeholder. Then if you have several accounts to make read only, you can do that by ticking (checking) boxes in the new column of the Accounts Panel, instead of having to open up a new Edit screen for each account. By the way, Hidden accounts also have an optional column in the Accounts panel. If you want to hide or unhide several accounts at once, it's a time saver too. [GNC] Issues with missing gnc-fq-dump
g'day. trying to setup Gnucash on my Debian Linux system. Installed and working fine, but now need to start tracking crypto currency trading and earnings/losses. I have followed the manual, can get gnc-fq-update to work, but not gnc-fq-dump can't find it installed anywhere. I work with aud as my default currency, and all investments reported back as usd/usdt. I honestly think there are some improvements needed in the manual for helping an ancient beginner! any advice be greatfully appreciated. ___ gnucash-user mailing list gnucash-user@gnucash.org To update your subscription preferences or to unsubscribe: https://lists.gnucash.org/mailman/listinfo/gnucash-user - Please remember to CC this list on all your replies. Re: [GNC] Issues with missing gnc-fq-dump
>From the 5.0 release notes The Online Quotes facility has been completely rewritten and the old gnc-fq-check, gnc-fq-dump, and gnc-fq-helper programs have been replaced with finance-quote-wrapper. The functions performed by those programs may now be accomplished by passing commands to gnucash-cli -Q, see gnucash-cli --help for specifics. The perl module requirements have changed with the rewrite: The new version doesn't need Date::Manip but needs JSON::Parse instead. gnc-fq-update has been, er, updated to reflect that.
