Re: [GNC] survey: unifying the appearance in different options dialogs
Di Mang, I have no preference for either top or left-side tabs, as long as they are consistent across the application. However, I can see that changing the main app preferences to top tabs might be cumbersome as there are so many. Therefore, if a delineation were made that ‘preference panes’ use left-side tabs, and ‘report-options’ used top-tabs, I think that would help to maintain functional consistency. App and file (book) preferences are something changed less often. Report Options might be adjusted frequently to generate different views of the same data. The only other change visually I would think in order would be to style the report-options similar to the application preferences, by reversing the colors. (the main content area should be lighter colored, the tabs, darker) The styling change would make all preference/option dialogs consistent and easier to focus. With the present scheme, the tabs grab the user’s attention more than the options themselves. (I understand this wouldn’t hold up with any particular alternative gtk theme, but the default should look proper) Regards, Adrien > On Jul 14, 2018, at 5:12 PM, Di Mang wrote: > > Hello gnucash user, > > > during a comparison of the english and german versions of GnuCash, I > have > noticed that the dialog "Book Options" looks different > ly > in both languages: > * in english version this dialog has four tabs, which are arranged at the > top (horizontally) > * in the > german version there are five tabs (one tab more for tax data), which are > arranged on the left side (verticaly). > > To fix this different appearance in both language, I have increased the > global value MAX_TAB_COUNT from 4 to 5 (see my PR: > https://github.com/Gnucash/gnucash/pull/382). [GNC] Cancel the current transaction Button not working in my Gnucash 2.6.19 Linux Mint 19 upgrade
Dear friends, I have been using Gnucash as my personal banking account checking system for many years now and think it is a brilliant system. Many thanks! When I upgraded from Linux Mint 18.3 to Linux Mint 19 and restarted my Gnucash accounts all has been fine. However, when I enter a Split transaction and try to _Cancel the current transaction_ (usually Imbalance-GBP) the _Button_ doesn't seem to work anymore. It always worked a dream before and took out that line. It doesn't make any difference to the accounting because when I check my Trial Balance ledger the Imbalance-GBP is still zero and, therefore, makes no difference to my accounting, but this is just a bit frustrating. Is anyone else having the same problem? Great to be able to join the mailing list and ask this very simple question. Linux is always so good for simpletons like me. Are you sure you're using the right button? To delete an existing split you want the delete button, not the cancel button. The delete button is a white circle with a red border and a black "X" in the middle. The cancel button, which undoes any edits made in the split since it was last committed, is a red octagon with a white border, like a "STOP" traffic sign without the word. Re: [GNC] Saving in GnuCash painfully slow: what can I do?
I am researching the issue with Auto Clear,as it is something that I have not seen before. So far, I found out that it is supposed to be started from the Accounts window Actions menu and it is supposed to cause a screen to open where one can try to coax GnuCash into clearing multiple transactions in one fell swoop, presumably on the account that is currently highlighted in that window. Also, it supposedly has been there since 2010, having been implemented as noted in < https://bugs.gnucash.org/show_bug.cgi?id=608436>. However, I cannot seem to get it started, and I am wondering if others, including Hmm have been able to use it with at least some success. If so, how does it work? Thanks David. I don't see any suggestions other than what I did. Downloaded from the link, opened the disk image, and moved the app to the applications folder. Re: [GNC] New User Can't Open Gnucash with High Sierra
You need to double-click on the app. Also there have been reports that Gatekeeper isn’t passing GnuCash on to LaunchServices after verification so a second double-click is needed to actually launch it. If that still doesn’t work try opening /Applications/Utilities/Terminal and starting GnuCash from the command line as follows: /Applications/Gnucash.app/Contents/MacOS/Gnucash If it fails there may be some output there indicating what’s gone wrong. Re: [GNC] New User Can't Open Gnucash with High Sierra
Hi John, With all due respect, I'm well aware I need to double click the app. In any case, my laptop is relatively new, and I had to call Mac tech support today regarding a completely different issue I was having. The tech person had me do a few things -- including running disk first aid -- which resolved the other issue I was having. I just tried Gnucash again, and whaddya know, it launched with no problem. Whatever we did must have resolved my Gnucash issue as well. Happy camper here.
