Adding a nice kde port "Kwlan"
Hello Guys, Could someone please make a port for Kwlan which is a great app and nice addition for FreeBSD? It make FreeBSD more friendly for desktop/laptop users :) http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=37041 Description: Network manager for kde. Allows you to configure different network profiles using all encryptions wpa_supplicant provides (wep, wpa, wpa2 etc) for wireless networks. Since version 0.4.5 kwlan can connect to unencrypted networks if wpa_supplicant is not available. Kwlan can also store profiles for wired networks. Dialup networks can be edited and connected to as well. Systray icons show connection statistics per interface (can be disabled). Changelog: Version 0.5.8 - - Added broadcom and bsd drivers to wpa_supplicant - Added options to configure phase1 and phase2 options - Added option to prevent interfaces from being configured by Kwlan - Added option to use custom wpa_supplicant config file -- Regards, -Abdullah Ibn Hamad Al-Marri Arab Portal http://www.WeArab.Net/ ___ freebsd-ports@freebsd.org mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-ports To unsubscribe, send any mail to "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"

Unfetchable distfiles reminder
Dear porters, This is just a reminder to please periodically check the list of unfetchable distfiles at http://people.freebsd.org/~fenner/portsurvey/ . In particular, the list of ports with no MAINTAINER with distfile problems, which currently has 245 bad ports, is http://people.freebsd.org/~fenner/portsurvey/[EMAIL PROTECTED] Since no one is responsible for these ports, the problem won't get fixed unless someone on this list takes the initiative. In addition, the list of all ports with any unfetchable distfile is http://people.freebsd.org/~fenner/portsurvey/bad.html if you don't mind coordinating your fixes with the port MAINTAINER. The best solution to this problem is to upgrade the port to the most current version of the software package. If you are a FreeBSD committer, then you can just upgrade the port directly. If not, you should create the updated port on your own machine, test it (and maybe even run "portlint" on it), and then use "send-pr" to submit a "diff -uNr old-port updated-port". gnutls (and all that kde stuff...) and 4.x's old gcc
(Not sure it still really matters given 4's eol date, but...) Yesterday evening I tinderboxed lang/gambas for 4.11 (thinking that it was a compiler :) and it failed with C++ compiler errors in libgnutlsxx in security/gnutls. I looked around in /usr/local/bin and /usr/X11R6/bin and it seemed nothing was using it, so I put USE_GCC=3.4 in the port's Makefile, which made it build. Soo, should libgnutlsxx just be removed from the build on 4, or should gnutls and everything that depends on it (which seems to be all that kde stuff at least) be given USE_GCC for 4? Or should gnutls simply be IGNOREd on 4 since probably noone that still uses that wants to run kde anyway... update to opentaxsolver 4.01 (for 2006)
>Submitter-Id: current-users >Originator:John E. Hein >Organization: >Confidential: no >Synopsis: update to opentaxsolver 4.01 (for 2006) >Severity: non-critical >Priority: low >Category: ports >Class: maintainer-update >Release: FreeBSD 4.x+ >Environment: FreeBSD 4.x+ >Description: opentaxsolver 4.01 was recently released (US tax forms only at the moment; state forms coming "soon"). This is the first update for tax year 2006. As such, this conflicts with the last version for 2005 (3.08). Perhaps there should be a different version of the port for each tax year (at least for a few years back). I'm not sure it's worth it... people can always mine CVS to get an older version when they get audited a couple years later ;) If there is enough demand for that, perhaps a repo copy (and then possibly rename some installed files as appropriate) of the existing port from opentaxsolver to opentaxsolver2005 is the way to go. If that is desired I'll look into a repo copy and any subsequent mods required to rename anything that conflicts with the current version. Most of the files, except the gui, have the tax year in the name. So I may be able to just add to the port so versions from years past can co-exist. I'll look into that, but I am comfortable with committing this patch to update to tax year 2006 and add back support for years gone by later. >How-To-Repeat: Apply patch below. Do a test build. Regarding dns/djbdns
Hello, I have contacted this e-mail address as this is what "make maintainer" gave me for "dns/djbdns". I just wanted to tell you that the IPv6 patch destroys the location facility (or views, in BIND terms) of tinydns. Considering the fact that IPv6 and locations are rarely used, I think that the best solution would be to simply warn the user. It wouldn't hurt to also inform upstream. Should you require further details or if I might be of any help, please don't hesitate to contact me. Re: SCons build, help needed
Hi, Thank you very much for your suggestion, I have sent pr but get declination from the port maintainer because he is in progress in upgrading to 2.43 directly. :-) Let's waiting for the 2.43! The port looks OK, but my desktop machine is hosed and I was not able to build it. I suggest you to: - replace my name and email in the makefile with yours :) - fix the pkg-descr; check the first paragraph on http://blender.org - submit the PR -- Regards, Karel miklav ___ freebsd-ports@freebsd.org mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-ports To unsubscribe, send any mail to "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"
