[Dx-packages] [Bug 1397483] Re: Unity restores windows to random workspaces on system resume

2014-12-14 Thread Rocko
I just suspended a second time before restoring one of the windows to
the primary workspace, and when I resumed it was neither on the primary
nor the secondary workspace. I disabled workspaces and it reappeared on
the primary one. My guess is that unity restored the window to its
workspace+1 each time so it went to workspace 3 after the second resume.

Unity restores windows to random workspaces on system resume

Status in Unity:
  Confirmed
Status in unity package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
When I suspend and resume my latop, my windows, which were originally
all in one workspace, are restored to different workspaces (apparently
  at random).

For windows not in the current workspace after resume, the unity
launcher indicates that they are running, but clicking on them has no
effect (it doesn't bring the window to the foreground). These windows
also do not appear in the task switcher so you can't switch to them.

If I have workspaces enabled, this is annoying but can be manually
corrected by showing all workspaces and dragging the windows to the
  current workspace.

If I have workspaces disabled, the windows on the disabled workspaces
  cannot be accessed at all.

I would expect the windows to be restored to the same workspace they
were in before suspend (especially if workspaces are disabled), and
even if this were not the case, clicking on their icon in the launcher
  should display them as normal.

IIRC this is an issue in Ubuntu 14.04 as well as in Ubuntu 14.10.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1244285] Re: Date/time sometimes doesn’t appear in menu bar, settings greyed out (Ubuntu 13.10, 14.04)

2014-12-14 Thread Michisteiner
I see it also on 14.04 (32-bit) but only very recently. And it happened
always right away after boot and log in. A workaround (a bit more
elegant that the killall one mentioned above) was for me to just start
the service in a shell as ...

  /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/indicator-datetime/indicator-datetime-
service

... which i copy/pasted from /etc/xdg/autostart/indicator-
datetime.desktop. Looking in log-files in /var/log and in ~/.xsession-
error i didn't find any errors, so not sure whether it crashed or simply
didn't get started (e.g., whether above xdg autostart was ignored?)

Sending files from notebook (Ubuntu 14.04) to smartphone (SG2, Android

error message in the subject. Nothing on the system was changed.

Running the command bluez-simple-agent produces this:

120GB SSD upon which I installed a newly downloaded version od

essentially a new installation. System started, asked for password
and at that time the panel was visible with date, time and the
shutdown button. After entering password system came up without
launcher and also without panel. I changed density on the screen just
incase launcher was off the screen, no luck.

This now has become a serious problem, as I cannot acces any of the
files on my hard diks, nor can I use this system for any work.

I also do not know how I can send any bug info other than this
description, I have no access to Terminal, only "all settings" is
available and all icons do their job when requested.

I would really appreciate it if this were looked in quickly.

border can remain on desktop as an overlay.

  Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open terminal
  2. Type "ssh yourlo...@yourserver.com" but please mind that you must use
key-based authentication, your key has to be password-protected and it should
not be unlocked yet
  3. Start resizing the terminal window in between pressing "enter" after step
2 and before SSH agent displays password dialog. Keep mouse button down till
dialog appears.
  4. Enter password into SSH agent password dialog and close it
  5. Close terminal

  Expected result:

  Window is closed.

  Current result:

Yellow overlay shown during resizing a window remains on desktop.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1366282] Re: Unable to shutdown

2014-12-14 Thread Andrea Azzarone
Can you try again (this is not going to fix the problem, will be just
useful to debug the issue)

1. Open a terminal
2. Launch dbus-monitor --profile > dbug.log
3. Open the session indicator
4. Click on "Shutdown..."
5. Wait few seconds
6. Alt-tab to terminal
7. Cltr-C to kill the command

At the end you should have in your home directory the file dbug.log.
Please attach it here.

Bug description:
After logging in, Unity doesn't start. I only get the desktop.
I am able to open a terminal with ctrl-alt-t and it has a title and menubar.
When I try to launch unity, The titlebar dissapears.

This didn't happen in 12.10 nether in 13.04 beta.
I updated all the packages after the releas and my system crashed at boot.
When this happens again, I'll file a bug for this.

I'm now on a fresh install of 13.04

I'm also experiancing this on a live usb.
First time I boot it, all is fine.
But when I boot from usb a second time most graphics are gone.

Title:
App icon removed from launcher but not from dconf value after
  installation and "unlock from launcher"

Status in Unity:
  Incomplete
Status in unity package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
On Ubuntu 13.04, after installing an application through the Software Center
or Application Lense, the applications icon gets put into the launcher.
If I unlock the icon from the launcher before logging out, the icon
disappears from the launcher but its .desktop file stays in the "favorites"
dconf value.
This causes the icon to reappear after a reboot.

If removing the icon from the launcher after a reboot, everything
  works as expected.

  How to reproduce:
  1) Install an application through Software Center/Application Lense
  2) Wait until the app is installed
  3) Right-click the newly installed icon in the launcher and unlock it.
  4) Check com.canonical.unity.launcher.favorites in dconf-editor and see if
the .desktop file is still in the list.

Screenshot attached. Notice the wifi-radar.desktop entry in the list,
even though the icon is gone from the launcher.

SIDENOTE: Shouldn't newly installed apps be put above running apps?
  (additional bug report needed?)

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1319146] Re: new installation of 14.04LTS, no panel or launcher

2014-12-14 Thread ealthuis
System: Dell Vostro 3555 laptop with AMD processor and video
Proprietary drivers were installed, removed and installed again
I created a "standard" user and the unity shown is similar to booting a test
drive from a USB stick or CD, that is a purple background and a small list of
launch icons

All functions such as NFS are available, however when I tried to start an
existing VirtualBox, a new one was suggseted.
All this seems correct.

Bug description:
In reference to bug # 2304568, lost launcher and panel in 14.04LTS
  Beta2,

I ended up sending the motherboard for repairs. This has been
repaired and installed as of today. I also installed a brand new
120GB SSD upon which I installed a newly downloaded version od
14.04LTS. I kept my /home on another drive, but for that it is
essentially a new installation.

What you mean?

So with a recently created user Unity works fine?

Status in Unity:

Status in unity package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
In reference to bug # 2304568, lost launcher and panel in 14.04LTS
  Beta2,

I ended up sending the motherboard for repairs. This has been
repaired and installed as of today. I also installed a brand new
120GB SSD upon which I installed a newly downloaded version od
14.04LTS. I kept my /home on another drive, but for that it is
essentially a new installation.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1067274] Re: Annoying behavior of a boinc-manager window

2014-12-14 Thread James
I am currently running Boinc 7.2.42(x64) on Ubuntu 14.04lts.
I have the same problem. When I minimize Boinc then close another window,
Boinc maximizes on it's own.
I have had this problem for a while even with consistent updates.

2014-12-14 Thread ealthuis
I own this laprop, I installed Ubuntu, and I am the only user. I do not
have Unity working, I do have Gnome.

Upon your suggestion I created a user, that user gets Unity every time
that user logs in.

system-config-printer-gnome depends on python-gobject, which means
python-gobject cannot be removed from the system. python-gobject is a
transitional package, and packages should be updated to no longer
  depend on it.

  [Test Case]

  * Install system-config-printer-gnome, and verify that python-gobject
  is not installed with it.

  * If it is already installed, you should be able to run 'apt-get purge
  python-gobject' without removing system-config-printer-gnome.

  [Regression Potential]

Negligible. There are no code changes. The fix only removes a
dependency on a transitional package that doesn't provide any files.

  python-gobject' without removing system-config-printer-gnome.

  [Regression Potential]

Negligible. There are no code changes. The fix only removes a
dependency on a transitional package that doesn't provide any files.

Bug description:
If SSH agent asks about key password when you resize a window, window
border can remain on desktop as an overlay.

  Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open terminal
  2. Type "ssh yourlo...@yourserver.com" but please mind that you must use
key-based authentication, your key has to be password-protected and it should
not be unlocked yet
  3. Start resizing the terminal window in between pressing "enter" after step
2 and before SSH agent displays password dialog. Keep mouse button down till
dialog appears.
  4. Enter password into SSH agent password dialog and close it
  5. Close terminal

  Expected result:

  Window is closed.

  Current result:

Yellow overlay shown during resizing a window remains on desktop.

  window disappears on toggle shade

Status in Unity:

Status in unity package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I used Unity Tweak Tool to enable Toggle Shade using middle click.
When I click to top of the window, it rolls up and disappears. A
"ghost" outline of the window appears and the only way to get the
window back is by using Alt-tab. Sometimes, when reselecting the
window using Alt-tab, Ubuntu freezes (crashes) and an internal error
is generated. It seems to be related to Compiz but I'm not sure. An
error report was generated and sent.

  Description: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (64-bit)
  Release: 14.04
  unity-tweak-tool 0.0.6ubuntu1

I expected the window would "roll up" and I'd be left with the
window's top bar like with previous versions of Ubuntu.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1098959] Re: 12.10 Bluetooth Battery Indicator Interferes with Bluetooth Mouse Moves

My BT mouse worked OK (but with red batt indicator) until last update.
Now it connects, but cursor doesn't move.

When I switch mouse off and on I can see in syslog:

12.10 Bluetooth Battery Indicator Interferes with Bluetooth Mouse
  Moves

Status in Gnome Powermanager:
  New
Status in indicator-power package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
A fully updated (Jan 11, 2013) Ubuntu 12.10 allows the bluetooth
mouse to "connect" but fails to move the cursor. The bluetooth
battery indicator is created and works.

If bluetooth is turned on just before mouse connection is attempted (before
the battery indicator shows the mouse battery), sometimes there is mouse
cursor movement for a fraction of a second. One time, a mouse onnection
succeeded, and at that time, the battery indicator for the mouse no longer
reported the current battery state (switching batteries of different charges no
longer accurately indicated the battery charge).
hcidump reports the mouse moves, but the cursor does nothing, nor do clicks.

** The mouse does work if the battery indicator is killed soon after
boot before bluetooth is turned on.**

Taking a wild guess, the bluetooth battery indicator handler is not
re-queueing the mouse moves it sees while looking for the battery
info. Additionally, the mouse handler, when it rarely gets a position
before the battery handler is not re-queuing the battery messages.
