[Dx-packages] [Bug 1397483] Re: Unity restores windows to random workspaces on system resume
I just suspended a second time before restoring one of the windows to the primary workspace, and when I resumed it was neither on the primary nor the secondary workspace. I disabled workspaces and it reappeared on the primary one. My guess is that unity restored the window to its workspace+1 each time so it went to workspace 3 after the second resume. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. Matching subscriptions: dx-packages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1397483 Title: Unity restores windows to random workspaces on system resume Status in Unity: Confirmed Status in unity package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: When I suspend and resume my latop, my windows, which were originally all in one workspace, are restored to different workspaces (apparently at random). For windows not in the current workspace after resume, the unity launcher indicates that they are running, but clicking on them has no effect (it doesn't bring the window to the foreground). These windows also do not appear in the task switcher so you can't switch to them. If I have workspaces enabled, this is annoying but can be manually corrected by showing all workspaces and dragging the windows to the current workspace. If I have workspaces disabled, the windows on the disabled workspaces cannot be accessed at all. I would expect the windows to be restored to the same workspace they were in before suspend (especially if workspaces are disabled), and even if this were not the case, clicking on their icon in the launcher should display them as normal. IIRC this is an issue in Ubuntu 14.04 as well as in Ubuntu 14.10. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1244285] Re: Date/time sometimes doesn’t appear in menu bar, settings greyed out (Ubuntu 13.10, 14.04)
I see it also on 14.04 (32-bit) but only very recently. And it happened always right away after boot and log in. A workaround (a bit more elegant that the killall one mentioned above) was for me to just start the service in a shell as ... /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/indicator-datetime/indicator-datetime- service ... which i copy/pasted from /etc/xdg/autostart/indicator- datetime.desktop. Looking in log-files in /var/log and in ~/.xsession- error i didn't find any errors, so not sure whether it crashed or simply didn't get started (e.g., whether above xdg autostart was ignored?) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to indicator-datetime in Ubuntu. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1319146] Re: new installation of 14.04LTS, no panel or launcher
System: Dell Vostro 3555 laptop with AMD processor and video Proprietary drivers were installed, removed and installed again I created a "standard" user and the unity shown is similar to booting a test drive from a USB stick or CD, that is a purple background and a small list of launch icons All functions such as NFS are available, however when I tried to start an existing VirtualBox, a new one was suggseted. All this seems correct. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. This has been repaired and installed as of today. I also installed a brand new 120GB SSD upon which I installed a newly downloaded version od 14.04LTS. I kept my /home on another drive, but for that it is essentially a new installation. System started, asked for password and at that time the panel was visible with date, time and the shutdown button. After entering password system came up without launcher and also without panel. I changed density on the screen just incase launcher was off the screen, no luck. This now has become a serious problem, as I cannot acces any of the files on my hard diks, nor can I use this system for any work. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1319146] Re: new installation of 14.04LTS, no panel or launcher
I own this laprop, I installed Ubuntu, and I am the only user. I do not have Unity working, I do have Gnome. Upon your suggestion I created a user, that user gets Unity every time that user logs in. I also do not know how I can send any bug info other than this description, I have no access to Terminal, only "all settings" is available and all icons do their job when requested.
