Can you try again (this is not going to fix the problem, will be just useful to debug the issue)
1. Open a terminal 2. Launch dbus-monitor --profile > dbug.log 3. Open the session indicator 4. Click on "Shutdown..." 5. Wait few seconds 6. Alt-tab to terminal 7. Cltr-C to kill the command At the end you should have in your home directory the file dbug.log.
