The CAT tool we actually have available for AOO is the "Anaphraseus"
extension. This extension has recently be adapted for AOO 4.0.
Anaphraseus allows you to make translations directly in Writer with/without
the help of a translator machine in the background (Google or MS
translator). A translation memory TM is generated during the
translation process.
You can also create glossaries for special technical domains. Anaphraseus
is the "little sister" of Wordfast which is used by translators working
with MS Word. Wordfast has more functions but is not free (400 Euros).

Be careful with the file to download. You have to download*
Anaphraseus_2.04.124b.oxt*, which is not announced as the latest version
but as a daily snapshot of the 17.07.2013. This version is OK for AOO
3.4.1, AOO 4.0 and Libreoffice. The other versions are not OK for AOO 4.0.

IMHO symlinks and redirects reduce simplicity and clarity,
because it soons turns into a confusing 'spaghetti' that
is hard to document or understand for future maintainers.

Users don't care where old stuff lives ; they just click urls.

Nevermind ; if you want it, here is how:

I can create a symlink for you on archive.apache.org

dist/openoffice/3.3 => ../incubator/ooo/3.3

  [ ... or AOO could add the link to dist/openoffice and remove it later ;
the link would remain in archive.a.o, of course.
  ]

Maybe it is better to use a 'Redirect'.
  http://httpd.apache.org/docs/current/mod/mod_alias.html#redirect

In dist/openoffice you can add a .htaccess-archive file

Redirect /3.3/ http://archive.apache.org/dist/ooo/3.3/
Redirect /3.4.0/ http://archive.apache.org/dist/ooo/3.4.0/
etc

A ".htaccess-archive" file only has meaning on archive.apache.org.

It really doesn't make sense
to have our archives split in two places, especially considering that the
"incubator" part contains old files that were released years before
OpenOffice entered incubation.

Hello once again.

We saw your answer, and the translation to english don't give you the right
perspective of what is realy happening to us after the upgrade to appache
4.0.

In fact we have many documents that became out of the parameters after the
process, and the example of a spreadsheet was sent to you, only to give you
an example of an A4 document, where the margins were all pushed to the
right. Our problem consists in a pre-printed paper that we use in our
stationary, where this misconfiguration is a real pain in the head.

At the moment we would like to make the necessary correction in all
documents, hundreds, without the need of doing it document by document.

Is it possible for you to give us some support?

Kind regards.

We now have a problem with the update that did the 3.0 to 4.0 appache.
In fact a huge amount of documents parameterized the spreadsheet, the
update to be made were desparametrizados.

Specifically talk about documents that you send as attached, in which
the text was all pushed to the right, having been completely out of the
margins we need to correct data that we use A4 sheets previously printed
in fields that are invisible in this document that we send you.

How can we fix the problem without having to do each document?

We appreciate your support.

Export of PDF/A-1a faulty ?

2013-08-01 Thread Guenter Marxen

Hi,

AOO 4 under Win 7 Pro x64.

I've exported a Calc sheet as PDF/A-1a file, looked in Acrobat 8 Pro the
properties: No security.

I opened the PDF/A file in AOO 4 with aoo-pdf-import 0.1.0, could
"correct" and save it again as PDF/A-1a file. (In Acrobat "no security"
again.)

Perhaps I do not understand correctly, but I think exporting a PDF/A-1a
file which can easily be changed is a bug?

PDF/A is a document format for long term preservation so it has some
constraints to facilitate this. See ISO 19005 for details or [1]
(provided by the Library of Congress) for an overview over these
constraints. Here is the relevant excerpt:

- Encryption is disallowed
- Audio and video content are forbidden
- Javascript and executable file launches are prohibited
- All fonts must be embedded and also must be legally embeddable for
unlimited, universal rendering

- Colorspaces specified in a device-independent manner
- Use of standards-based metadata is mandated

[Build Environment] Windows - build using Java 7 (JDK 1.7) without having Visual Studio

2013-08-01 Thread Oliver-Rainer Wittmann

Hi,

Our current documentation about building AOO on Windows [1] (legacy one
[2]) references JDK 1.6 and Visual Studio 2008 Express as needed
software tools in order to build AOO on Windows. You might know that
these are no longer officially available for Windows.
Thus, I decided to work on a Windows build environment _without_ Visual
Studio 2008 and _with_ JDK 1.7. I managed to build current trunk on a
Windows 7 64bit HomePremium system using Java 7 (JDK 1.7) and without an
installed Visual Studio instance.

The problems which I need to solve on my way to the installation set were:
(1) New version 2.7.1-1 of cygwin tool 'patch'.
Version 2.7.1-1 now takes line endings in the patch file and in the file
to be patch serious. Thus, the application of a patch fails when the
line endings are different.

Solution is to tweak the calling of the cygwin tool 'patch'.
(2) Building module accessibility.
In accessibility/bridge/source/java/ 'javah' is used to create a C
header file from a Java class. This does not work with JDK 1.7 as the
classpath does not contain the needed references to our UNO-API Java
classes.

Solution is to adjust the classpath for this 'javah' call.

There are issues 121690 [3] and 121754 [4] regarding building with Java
7 (JDK 1.7) and HSQLDB. I think these issues are the duplicates of each
other [please, can one of the people involved in these issues - e.g.
Fred, Ariel or Andrea confirm this? Thx in advance]. As far as I
understood these issues are solved. Please correct me, if I am wrong.
My build was not hit by any build problem regarding modules hsqldb and
connectivity.

The installation of my build successfully passes the so-called smoketest
- open document /main/smoketestdoc/[platform]/bin/smoketestdoc.sxw and
hit start button.

On a Windows system with JRE 6 the installation of my build does not
recognize installed JRE 6 as an Java runtime environment (Menu - Tools -
Option - Java). This is no problem from my point of view as our Windows
users should not have JRE 6 installed anymore on their systems due to
its security risks. Does somebody contradicts?

I will soon update our documentation [1] in order to enable newcomers to
build AOO under Windows.
I will also update the reference to the Windows SDK, because for
building without stlport on Windows the SP1 of the corresponding Windows
SDK is needed - see issue 122500 [5].

You probably want the signed PDFs and checking them ensures a PDF has
not been tampered with. AOO doesn't yet support it [1], but there are

third-party tools for signing the PDF or for encrypting the file itself.

Depends what you mean. Signing with strong cryptography gives a good
assurance that it hasn't been tampered with.

Help build ... I am frustrated.

2013-08-01 Thread janI
Hi.

When I e.g. stand in trunk/main/l10ntools and say

build

no params, it does not run prj/d.lst and does not copy to solver.

How can I pursuade build to build the targets AND copy to solver.

thx in advance.

Ps. the more frustrated I get, the more I think about replacing the whole
build, but please dont let that stop you from giving me a hint.

2013-08-01 Thread V Stuart Foote
Jamie,

I'll post an archived IA2 branch build of r1484083 up, and send you a PM for
the ftp link a little latter.

Getting the Buildbot to start running to completion, even if with the
1484083 revision would be useful.

Meanwhile, for Steve Yin, any chance of pushing the current ia2 branch back
out to SVN, or better perfrom a merge with trunk and posting it. Having the
buildbot binaries are nice, but at some point we need to start reviewing
code to access IAccessibile2 (v1.3) compliance as well as look at the impact
on the other accessible bridges depending on what is done to UAA and role an
event manipulations for ia2.

I do the same with l10n40, and as far as know rejuvenate01 follow that same

Lets try to keep trunk free of major untested changes, that makes life

Apologies, I was not clear. No intention to suggest that Steve Yin's work on
the IA2 branch be merged back into the trunk at this time. Rather, that
since he holds all work locally, and that the last posting to the ia2 SVN
branch repo was when he'd last merged with trunk at r1484083 on May 18th,
all work since then has not been published or reviewed by anyone other than
Steve and his team in Beijing.

Some of us are getting anxious since an implementation of IAccessible2 at
4.1.0 will necessitate a broad review of all the accessibility framework and
will impact the UAA bridges supporting AT-SPI/ATK and NSAccessibility in
addition to residuals of the Java Accessibility Bridge.

np. However I can think of several reasons, which I support, to keep work
local until its ready for a broader review.

I trust that Steve will publish the work when its ready for a broader
audience.

I personnally expect it to be timed with our upcomming release,, it is a
major update which should be released to users by AOO and not just in svn.

I am sure the 4.1 release manager will make sure there are ample time for
QA, review and other issues.

returned to work Open office crashed again. So now I know the reason i
don't use open office I have had to try to recover 4 documents in 24

I am sorry about your problems. We have a saying in Denmark, thst might
apply here "If you hate/dislike someone, they problaly dont ike you".

I have used apache OpenOffice for years, and yes it has bugs, but so nave
all software, would you rather pay a (to me small fortune) for another
office package and still have problems, the choice is yours.

If you goto forumd.openoffice.org and explain the exact problem, they eill

Re: Web Development program?

2013-08-01 Thread Donald Whytock
Depends on what you mean by a "web development program". There's webpage
editors that you can use to prepare HTML files that can be placed on a
webserver; Dreamweaver is a big commercial name for this. There are some
free editors too, but I don't know if any of them have commercial-grade
functionality. You may be interested in the following links for this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Website_builder

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTML_editor

There are also packages that you can load onto a webserver that run as web
applications and act as a website, which allow you to add and modify
content online. Have a look at

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_content_management_system

You can start at these links and find lists of software packages. Please
note that this is not an official recommendation or endorsement of any of
them by the Apache Software Foundation.

Good luck...

You say "you can get it from your history". Do you have a continuously running
backup utility (such as some versions of Comodo)? If so, this may cause
crashes. Anything that touches open OpenOffice files has been reported as
causing crashes.

For what its worth, OpenOffice is, in my experience, very stable. Since Monday
I have written 16,000 words in OpenOffice, with no crashes, program hangs, lost
data. Since 2007, when I started with OpenOffice's precursor, I have written
four books, numerous illustrated booklets, many presentations, all without
crashes.

Looking at the 3.4.0_checksums.html page, in the "This is how

keys/group/ooo.asc
That's renamed to
keys/group/openoffice.asc

Fixed too.

There is only one remaining occurrence, in

but I didn't touch it (Marcus probably knows what's best to do here).

Looking at
http://www.openoffice.org/download/globalvars_improved.js
I see (*) : var MIRROR_APACHE_URL = ...

I'll still leave this to Marcus and we are done.

But this policy means that we will really have to think twice before
linking to materials on the Apache mirrors: going back and correct links
in old download pages, old security bulletins, that have in the meantime
been translated, converted into PDF and very likely republished verbatim
on other sites, is something that we simply cannot do; and even if we
limit ourselves to doing what is actually possible (i.e., fixing
everything that is under control, like in this case), it's still a large
waste of time.

Please, this is not the mailing list for such questions, at least use
the user lists for general support. Developers use vim/emacs/sublime

There is also Kompozer http://www.kompozer.net/

But please, this list is for development of AOO. Feel free to discuss
patches for our HTML editor thought which i am sure there might be
some.

I tested exported files from Pages on my Mac as .doc files. They do not open in AOO 4.0. I get
the "ASCII Filter Options" dialogue and they open as garbage. They do open in AOO 3.4.1, Bean,
TextEdit, and LibreOffice 4.1.0.4

course respect and understand our need to have 3.4.1 available to users
(especially because 3.4.1 contains languages not released in 4.0).

I see the following possibilities:

1) remove openoffice from incubator, but leave version 3.3.0 and 3.4.1
(with language packs) on the SF mirror. This is preferred by infra.

+1 to keep it on SF

2) remove 3.3.0 since its a legacy version, and move 3.4.1 parallel to
4.0. This is however an expensive operation for all mirror, and should
only be done if we anticipate patches for 3.4.1

Removing 3.3 is ok to me but I see demand for keeping 3.4.1. Having it
besides 4.0 would be natural but needs some work in the download scripts
...

Just for me, do you prefer 1) or 2) ... I personally dont see a big need
to
keep 3.4.1 on our servers.

INHO it is fine to keep 3.4.1 and early on archive.apache.org and SF
only, provided Infra is OK with us pointing our website links for the
hashes and signatures of 3.4.1 and earlier to archive and not to the
dist. I don't think the bandwidth will be significant for these.

I was told that these files must be linked from "www.apache.org/dist/" only
and always. If we can get now an exception for "archive.apache.org/dist/" -
hey, it's hosted by Apache, too :-) - this would be good.

www.apache.org/dist/ - current release(s)
archive.apache.org/dist/ - archived releases

See:
http://www.apache.org/dev/mirrors.html#location
http://www.apache.org/dev/release.html#when-to-archive

Thanks

Marcus

3) persuade infra to keep incubator for 3.4.1, but limit the footprint
as much as possible, remove 3.3.0 and put a timelimit up.

I believe we can manage to move it out of the incubator in some way.

We are also adviced, that if/when we change our layout infra need to be
adviced well in advance. In my opinion we should consider not using
externaldist, but have the total release in one folder with subfolders.

Well externaldist was not our idea and I copied the files in this
structure of advice from infra. We should first clarify what's preferred
here. "externaldist" caused some confusion and extra work on our side as
well.

We can move the discussion to dev@ is nobody objects.

The answer is simple:
It's a relict of the past. No need to change this.

One of my tasks on the todo list is to cleanup the download area from
old files. It seems I should do this next to prevent any further
efforts. ;-)

Marcus

But this policy means that we will really have to think twice before
linking to materials on the Apache mirrors: going back and correct links
in old download pages, old security bulletins, that have in the meantime
been translated, converted into PDF and very likely republished verbatim
on other sites, is something that we simply cannot do; and even if we
limit ourselves to doing what is actually possible (i.e., fixing
everything that is under control, like in this case), it's still a large
waste of time.

Releasing a new language should be rather easy and repeatable, so it is
something that we can do once a month (but I can understand that August
may be problematic due to holidays).

Ideally, we should have a monthly update, say around mid-month, where we:

1) Release new languages (of course, based on the same code revision as
4.0, exactly as done for 3.4.1) that have reached 100% UI translation.

2) Formally unrelated to #1, we make (unreleased) dev snapshots
available of languages that have UI at 75-99%.

As I haven't seen any objections, IMHO it's safe to assume we have an
agreement.

Thanks Stuart. I got the build and installed it.

Unfortunately, I'm having some major problems with this one that I
didn't have with a build from February. When Writer starts, the main
window is invisible and isn't in the alt+tab task switcher or the
running applications bar. Furthermore, I can't see any text in the
document when I look at the object hierarchy. I can access the menus,
though. Strangely, if the document recovery dialog comes up before the
main Writer application, that works just fine; it isn't invisible, etc.
I don't have this problem with Calc.

I tried reinstalling, including removal of all relevant application data
and registry keys, but to no avail.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas?

Re: IA2 branch testing of r1484083 merege with trunk

2013-08-01 Thread V Stuart Foote
Jamie,

Cleared off all LibreOffice and OpenOffice and then installed the revision
1484083 ia2 branch build.

Two things jumped out:

1) I had to back out NVDA from 2013.1, and install a copy of NVDA 2012.3.1
to get useable IAccessible2 rendering

2) also, I had to run the OpenOffice ia2 branch as Administrator. If I ran
as normal user, AOO would not render with IAccessible2 and NVDA would not
parse the IAccessible2 events--everything was unknown.

Seems like before we only had to run once as Administrator to register the
.dll
But, as I had Accprobe open while running, I could follow that when I
launched AOO ia2 as an Administrator, IAccessible2 events would generate and
NVDA 2012.3.1 would sound. If not run as Administrator I would only see MSAA
renderings. And, I could not reliably get 2013.1 to sound even when
IAccessible2 was showing while run as administrator.

I'm writing this before I've rebooted, so may see some improvement in having
to run the ia2 AOO as Administrator after that.

Also, Steve had posted up some hints on handling un regsitering the
UAccCom.dll, that could be some of the issue.

Re: IA2 branch testing of r1484083 merege with trunk

2013-08-01 Thread V Stuart Foote
Jamie,

So a reboot did fix the IAccessible2 behavior of AOO ia2 branch, following
reboot I did not have to run AOO as Administrator to get IAccessible2
rendering.

I then upgraded back to NVDA 2013.1.1 and now was getting good IAccessible2
rendering with that as well.

Also, no problems before or after the reboot with navigating onto the AOO
ia2 Writer session with movments so not sure what was happening
there for you. But I have to say that getting this build consistently
configured is a bit of a challenge. But once it is configured, it seems
pretty functional.

Stuart

I would like to (properly) exclude dist/openoffice/4.0.0/binaries/
