Non-breakable spaces on front page links
I was tracking down a problem I see with the Bulgarian translation of the front page of the website. The problem is that the thanslation of "Mailing List Archives" (the link before last in the fourth column) overlaps with the sponsor logo and is not entirely visible. The English pages don't exhibit the problem because of the minimal width of 11em set on the columns. First I thought there may be some CSS oddity, but in the end the reason was far more ordinary. The text uses non-breakable spaces and therefore can't be wrapped by the browser. The source of the non-breakable spaces are the original English texts in template.pot. I can see the reason for using in the old site, where this was used as a way of setting the width of the links menu. However, the new site doesn't seem to need such a crude method. My proposal is to replace non-breakable with ordinary spaces both in templates.pot and all the translated template.XX.po files. Any objections? signature.asc Description: Digital signature

If we remove non-breakable spaces then it will breake red dotted lines under columns in small resolutions (dotted line of one column will under other, while they should be in one line). As possible solution can be changing min-width of ul#hometoc-col{a,b,c,d,e} from current 11em to proper value to each language (near 14em or 15em for russian). This min-with from debhome.css. It can be included in debian-XX.css (where XX is language code) of each language. signature.asc Description: Digital signature
Bug#623586: www.debian.org: new style sheet - line/item spacing is too big
Package: www.debian.org Severity: normal The new style sheet used for web pages could use some fine tuning. In the old pages it was possible to browse pages without much scrolling. Like e.g. package pages listing fit snuggly in a "page": depends recommends suggests With the current style sheet, there are huge gaps between the lines and bullets, and the rest. That requires constant need for scrolling in order to access the information. This is especially painful with low resulution screens; usually with laptops, sub notebooks and netbooks. Please find a way to fine tune style sheet's overall line spacing of elements; which also tightens spacing of bullets, lists etc. -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.38-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_DK.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_DK.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-www-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Patch for distrib/netinst.wml - 2nd try
(This is a re-post of my message from February 7th of 2011.) Hi! It seems some lines are mixed up in the "Tiny CDs, USB sticks, etc." section. Bug#505254: www.debian.org: Ability to sort RFP/ITP pages by age
Hi, Le lundi 10 novembre 2008 23:21:22, vous avez écrit : > It would be nice to have the ability to sort the WNPP sub-pages by age. > Possibly even additionally the "age since initiation" and "age since > last activty". We're talking about the http://www.debian.org/devel/wnpp/being_packaged page (and similar ones). I'm willing to try and implement such feature, but would like some help for the wording. Currently, we have: - , in preparation since today. - , in preparation since yesterday. - , %s days in preparation. I'd propose something like: - , %s days in preparation, last activity today. - , %s days in preparation, last activity yesterday. - , %s days in preparation, last activity %s days ago. Or eventually, if a rewording of the first part is really needed: - <...>, preparation started %s days ago, last activity today. - <...>, preparation started %s days ago, last activity yesterday. - <...>, preparation started %s days ago, last activity %s days ago. Also, for the index, I hope the following would be fine: - %s packages being worked on, by age - %s packages being worked on, by last activity Even if it's short, I'm pretty sure I may propose ugly cheesy English as usual, so I'd welcome some proofread; better wording highly welcome. Regards David P.-S.: Not sure someone already wrote it, but I'm not the only one who agree with the following: Justin your help on the DPN (among other stuff) is really welcome, thanks a lot for being usually responsive on such a short notice. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-www-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
