   Then why was I or other upstreams never contacted? At least to
enquire about the ABI/API evolution plans. Shipping a PIC library
means that upgrades are not automatic and as the (co-)maintainer of
two x264-using packages, I don't want to deal with static libraries. I
didn't spend countless hours working on making libx264 buildable as a
shared object to see only a static version in Debian.

 Kiwi is a framework and a set of enhanced PyGTK widgets designed to
 make building programs with graphical interfaces both easy to write
 and easy to maintain.
 .
 Kiwi consists of a set of classes and wrappers for PyGTK that were
 developed to provide a sort of framework for applications. Fully
 object-oriented, and roughly Smalltalk's MVC, Kiwi provides a simple,
 practical way to build forms, windows and widgets that transparently
 access and display your object data.
 .
 Kiwi is inspired by Allen Holub's Visual Proxy.

Bug#391309: RFP: gnome-app-install - the easiest-to-use software installation tool available

2007-03-10 Thread Loïc Minier
Hi folks,

 I'd like to get gnome-app-install in Debian ASAP, preferably under
 pkg-gnome co-maintenance. I would like to benefit of your efforts to
 Debianize the Ubuntu package, but there were newer versions of the
 package in Ubuntu addressing some of your TODOs mentionned in #391309
 (at least the Python policy stuff).

 Would you one of you two (or you two) be interested in being the
 official Debian maintainer(s) with the GNOME team as uploaders? Do you
 have time to prepare the package right now?

 I would like to import the package in pkg-gnome ASAP, perhaps starting
 with the Ubuntu version and merging any Debianization changes you did;
 if you're interested in maintaining this package, I can start with the
 import and give you commit rights to do the merging.

 Please let me know if you're not interested in maintaining the package;
 in all cases, I'm interested in any help to integrate the latest
 version of the package (0.3.26) with Debian.

   Bye,

Bug#405212: RFP: libx264 -- free library for encoding H264/AVC video streams.

2007-03-10 Thread Fabian Greffrath
Hi Sam and Daniel,

indeed my package was meant to only build PIC static libraries. I took
Christian Marillat's packages as a prototype. One thing I remember is
that the x264 binary was not dynamically linked against the .so although
I compiled with --enable-shared, so I finally built only the static
version.

Sam, if you are also upstream for x264 and maintain x264-using packages,
I am sorry that I have not contacted you about packaging the library.

Of course I happily hand the package over to you! ;)

Nice greetings,
Fabian

2007-03-10 Thread Armin Berres
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Armin Berres <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

* Package name: apparix
  Version : 06-314
  Upstream Author : Stijn van Dongen
* URL : http://micans.org/apparix/
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : console-based bookmark tool for fast file system navigation

Fast file system navigation by bookmarking directories and jumping to a
bookmark directly. Apparis integrates regular bookmarks with
CDPATH-style bookmarks. Subdirectory specification and (bash) tab
completion add further power.
Apparis maintains a mapping of user-defined marks (hopefully short and
descriptive) to file system locations and is wrapped in other commands
to either jump to those locations or to invoke edit/copy/move commands
involving them.

I intend to orphan the docbook-ebnf package. I have maintained it
till now because it is needed to build docbook-defguide, which I just
orphaned.

The package description is:
 DocBook is a general-purpose and modular SGML and XML Document-Type
 Definition. This is a module that adds to DocBook elements for the
 markup of EBNF grammar rules.

Description:
 docbook-ebnf - EBNF module for the XML version of the DocBook DTD
Closes: 295580 299692
Changes:
 docbook-ebnf (1.2~cr1-1) experimental; urgency=low
 .
   * New maintainer (closes: #295580).
   * This is not really a new upstream version, just an update of the packaging
 files along with a bug-fix. It further lets me create a new .orig.tar.gz
 tarbll based on the new rules in the get-orig-source target, so the
 tarball creation is more transparent.
 .
   [ Daniel Leidert ]
   * debian/compat: Increased debhelper compatibility level to v4.
   * debian/contrib/catalog.*: Added. They are templates to create the real
 SGML and XML catalogs via debian/rules.
   * debian/control: Added XS-Vcs-Browser and XS-Vcs-Svn fields.
 (Maintainer): I'm the new maintainer.
 (Uploaders): Added the Debian XML/SGML group.
 (Build-Depends-Indep): Moved debhelper to Build-Depends and adjusted
 version dependency (see debian/compat).
 (Standards-Version): Bump to latest standards version.
 (Description): Fixed package reference and added Homepage field.
   * debian/copyright: Updated. Added copyright information found in DTDs.
   * debian/docbook-ebnf.dirs: Added. Removed the related part in debian/rules.
   * debian/docbook-ebnf.links: Ditto.
   * debian/docbook-ebnf.sgmlcatalogs: Removed. It's created by debian/rules
 automatically.
   * debian/docbook-ebnf.xmlcatalogs: Ditto. But the created file does not
 longer miss to register the entries in the root catalog (closes: #299692).
   * debian/rules: Cleaned the file a lot. Moved stuff to be done via debhelper
 scripts out of debian/rules into debhelper template files. Added rules to
 automatically walk through the source(s) and create catalogs and related
 debhelper templates. Added get-orig-source target to document the way, the
 upstream tarball is created.
   * debian/watch: Removed (useless, because it doesn't work).

Eva,

Thanks for packaging this. I have been meaning to package this for a
