XFree86 + NV_GLX

2000-11-25 Thread Daniel Wagner
Hello,

I've a TNT2-Ultra graphicscard and it works fine with the standard nv driver of
the xfree 4 package, but is there a package where the accelerated driver is
included (that means, mesalibs, xfree-driver, kernel-module)?

thanks for any advice,
Daniel Wagner

Hi,

I've got a problem too with the new bbdb-package in unstable. with the
new package the bbdb-complete-name doesn't work anymore. i always get:
Symbol's function definition is void: bbdb-extract-address-components

seems that there's something missing in the new package.

Hi,

I tried to get a newer version, but i had it already installed.

|Package: bbdb
|Version: 2.2-1
|Package: gnus
|Version: 5.8.8-2

And the problem is still there. Any suggestions to fix that?

thx,
Daniel

hi,

i fall into this pit too, and on bugs.debian.org i found the following
solution:

boot your kernel with init=/bin/bash

remount your your rootfs rw (e.g. with /etc/init.d/checkroot.sh
mount other filesystems (/etc/init.d/mountall.sh)

then install the old packages with dpkg.

that's the i've done it and it worked.

pump

2001-08-08 Thread Daniel Wagner
hi,

i've got a strange behavior of pump here on my box. when i use it to
configure my interaces, i get strange kernelthreads:

|10562 pts/2S 0:00 pump -i eth0
|10563 pts/2Z 0:00 [eth0 ]
|10564 pts/2SW 0:00 [eth0]

i've tried the dhcp-client package, no zombie, static configuration
again no zombie.

i use pump 0.8.3-3 from sid.

i've no idea what's this process is good for, that's why i asked.

|[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# pump -i eth0 --status
|Device eth0
|IP: 172.16.0.243

|Renewal time: Thu Aug 9 04:54:29 2001
|Expiration time: Thu Aug 9 06:24:29 2001

and shouldn't the pump process restore the resolv.conf, if pump
changes it? and isn't resolv.conf a glibc thing, cause the kernel
whould be configured via the procfs?

devfsd 'n halt

i've experienced a strange behaviour when shutting down my machine,
when the devfsd runs, cause devfsd stop-script is excecuted after the

has anybody the same problem?

if've got the problem with /dev/xconsole too, but i can't figure out
what's goin' on cause in /etc/devfs/devices.d/devfsd there's an entry
which should set up, the device node correctly and which did it, if an
other file whit same permissions in that directory and the devfsd
creates the files mentioned there, strange thing.

Okay, i've got a solution now. Simply recall update-devfsd which
recreates /etc/devfs/devices.list.

xemacs and printing + mailcrypt

2001-06-03 Thread Daniel Wagner
hello,

i'm using debian sid's xemacs package (21.4.1-2) and it works pretty
fine except two things:

a) the file/print... menu-entry isn't working - it always brings up
the error "Wrong number of arguments: lpr-region, 1". when i printout
the buffer with lpr-buffer everythings okay, perhaps something went
wrong there.

b) is there an uptodate mailcrypt for xemacs somewhere, that's able to
deal with gnupg >=1.0.5, cause the mailcrypt that comes with xemacs
isn't able to do so.

nvidia (recently) changed there module so that it comes with it's own
agp-driver (see /proc/nv/card*). if you load the kernel agpgart module
NVdriver will use this one instead it's own.

dselect, can't do update

2001-06-07 Thread Daniel Wagner
hello,

since yesterday i've a strange problem with dselect. i tried to look
for new packages at the mirror ( i use sid ), and did a update in
dselect, everything seemed to work, but at the end of operation the
following errormessage came.

|Reading Package Lists... Done
|Building Dependency Tree... Done
|Merging Available information
|Replacing available packages info, using /var/cache/apt/available.
|dpkg: parse error, in file `/var/cache/apt/available' near line 1020 package
`blt':
| `Replaces' field, reference to `blt-dev': error in version: version string
has embedded spaces
|
|update available list script returned error exit status 2.
|Press to continue.

any suggestions what to do. i tried already to remove the available
list to enforce the rebuild of it, but this didn't work.
