To my knowledge, it is mainly used when the package being replaced (e.g. zoem-doc) is no longer built from any source (as an alternative to use the "highest" known version of that package). There was a request for making Lintian ignore the lack of version in such cases a while back, so Lintian no longer complains about the lack of version in this case. ~Niels -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-release-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Dear release team, I prepared a new revision on gnunet and uploaded it to mentors. You'll find attached the full debdiff to the last unblocked revision (0.9.3-3). Bug#691988: Re: Bug#691988: pre-approve unblock: libpam-ssh/1.92-15
Dear release team managers, by now the minimal version of the package libpam-ssh has been uploaded since 21 days, and an upstream version of the package meant for the experimental distribution is currently investigated by the sponsor. As reported in #685614 and #664177, libpam-ssh is important for some computer and cluster setup; for example, it can be used to mount the home partition on cluster using sshfs. So its absence in Wheezy may cause some troubles during the coming upgrade as it is already in Squeeze; according to popcon, libpam-ssh has grossly 400 users. As noticed in the original bug report, libpam-ssh was removed because some easy to fix RC bugs persisted due to its unofficial orphan state. It took me sometime to realize that this package was in an unofficial orphan state and that is was coldly removed because of easy to fix RC bugs. Second, as fresh Debian Aspirant Maintainer, it also took me sometime to see how I can manage its reintroduction and its update. Hence the nearly one year delay between its removable and its reintroduction in Sid, and its current absence in Wheezy. This didn't show up in the tests because there is sanity checking code in place that prevents huge timeout values that could be caused by clock jumps so luckily it shouldn't be a severe problem in practice. Description of the second change: dix: set the device transformation matrix The property handler is registered after setting the property, so dev->transform remains as all-zeros. That causes pixman_f_transform_invert() to fail (in transformAbsolute()) and invert remains as garbage. This may then cause a cursor jump to 0,0. Since the axes are not yet initialized here and we need to allow for drivers changing the matrix, we cannot use the property handler for matrix initialization, essentially duplicating the code. Bug#682906: unblock: python-defaults/2.7.3-2
Hi Scott, First, a disclaimer: I'm not a python expert or a member of the release team, so please take anything I say with a grain of salt. This review is mostly meant to help get this unstuck. Scott Kitterman wrote: > - Match the version number for python and python2.7.3. Although this is >costmetic, it does cause confusion. The diff is (including changelog and tests) 45 files changed, 466 insertions(+), 205 deletions(-) including dh_python2 | 52 +--- As we've seen shebang normalization is not without complications. So at this stage in the freeze, this wouldn't be the usual candidate for an unblock. On the other hand: (1) The impact is mostly at build time for rbuilddeps, and this change has been in sid for half a year already. Any damage it causes has probably already been done. :) (2) Worse, most packages are built in unstable and only migrate to testing later, except for tpu, spu, and security uploads. Some source packages could be relying on the effect of this upload already and in that case _not_ migrating would just make trouble for stable maintenance and security updates. (3) On the bright side, it's had half a year of testing. So I am (reluctantly) in favor of including most of these changes in wheezy, at least in principle. On to the diff. I believe newer versions of Emacs automatically add directories in some situations. As I recently mentioned elsewhere, I think it might be worth taking some time to review the way we handle the load-path in light of those changes, but that probably can (and should) wait until after Wheezy. >> +Thanks to Hendrik Tews for the report and Kevin >> +Ryde for an initial suggested patch -- posted to >> +#454778. I've now uploaded this additional bugfix, patch follows. All of the changes since 1.6.3-1 in testing to 1.6.4-1 in unstable are here: http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=buildd-tools/schroot.git;a=shortlog;h=refs/heads/schroot-1.6 If some of the included changes here are too big, I'll be happy to make an upload of a subset of the changes to testing-proposed-updates, but I do need some feedback in order to start doing that. There are a number of bugs fixed here: 692213: essential for kFreeBSD 686148,691694: security issue #688304: cosmetic but annoying #689078: broken environment; breaks buildd setup scripts; not critical, but breaks interface.
