Hi,

There is a build failure on kfreebsd-amd64 stalling the migration to
testing. Could you please have a look at it and look at solving it
(even if that is imply nagging some buildd people for a give-back)?

Thank you in advance,
~Niels

It does; it means it breaks all versions of zoem-doc. To my knowledge,
it is mainly used when the package being replaced (e.g. zoem-doc) is no
longer built from any source (as an alternative to use the "highest"
known version of that package).

There was a request for making Lintian ignore the lack of version in
such cases a while back, so Lintian no longer complains about the lack
of version in this case.

Hi,

This was unblocked by Adam on the 6th, so closing. Often you can use
grep-excuses (from devscripts) to see if there is an existing unblock[1].

Thanks,
~Niels

[1] It is not entirely perfect as the excuses are generated twice a day,
so there is up to a 12-hour latency between the hint being added and the
excuses showing it.

2012-12-09 Thread Bertrand Marc
Dear release team,

I prepared a new revision on gnunet and uploaded it to mentors.

You'll find attached the full debdiff to the last unblocked revision
(0.9.3-3). Here is the detail of the changes, with the answers to Julien:

Yes they are, I need them back since they are not symlinked any more.

I kept this one since I am not the author and it seems quite simple to
review.

Since gnunet/0.9.3-4 was uploaded to unstable with too many changes for
wheezy, I targeted wheezy directly in the changelog (not really sure it
shouldn't be testing-proposed-updates) and the revision is now called
gnunet/0.9.3-3wheezy1.

How does it works now to get it to wheezy directly ?

Cheers,
Bertrand

Not really. We have no replacement and it is still used.

Bug#691988: Re: Bug#691988: pre-approve unblock: libpam-ssh/1.92-15

2012-12-09 Thread Jerome BENOIT

Dear release team managers,

by now the minimal version of the package libpam-ssh has been uploaded since 21
days,
and an upstream version of the package meant for the experimental distribution
is currently
investigated by the sponsor.

As reported in #685614 and #664177, libpam-ssh is important for some computer
and cluster setup;
for example, it can be used to mount the home partition on cluster using sshfs.
So its absence in Wheezy may cause some troubles during the coming upgrade as
it is already in Squeeze;
according to popcon, libpam-ssh has grossly 400 users.

As noticed in the original bug report, libpam-ssh was removed because some easy
to fix RC bugs
persisted due to its unofficial orphan state. It took me sometime to realize
that this package
was in an unofficial orphan state and that is was coldly removed because of
easy to fix RC bugs.
Second, as fresh Debian Aspirant Maintainer, it also took me sometime to see
how I can manage
its reintroduction and its update. Hence the nearly one year delay between its
removable and
its reintroduction in Sid, and its current absence in Wheezy.

Jerome

For some reason I had it in mind there was an unversioned libunwind-dev.
So no, a source upload dropping the -cil package via sid should work
fine; thanks for the cluebat.

Please unblock package libaqbanking

This release fixes Debian bug #688831, symlinks in package
libaqbanking34-dev pointing to non-existent files (a policy violation).
Additionally I changed debian/rules so that it injects build flags from
dpkg-buildflags to support the Security Hardening Build Flags, a release
goal.

I uploaded the wanted version 5.0.24-2 already ten days ago to unstable,
so for review you can compare the version in testing (5.0.24-1) with the
version in unstable (5.0.24-2). The changelog entry of version 5.0.24-2 is:

 libaqbanking (5.0.24-2) unstable; urgency=low
 .
   * Don't ship symlink /usr/lib/libaqbankingpp.so as we don't ship its
 destination libaqbankingpp.so.0.0.0 (closes: #688831).
   * Inject build flags from dpkg-buildflags, enabling support for the
Security Hardening Build Flag release goal.

Debdiff is also attached.

Thanks for the detailed review and catching this. This didn't show up in
the tests because there is sanity checking code in place that prevents
huge timeout values that could be caused by clock jumps so luckily it
shouldn't be a severe problem in practice.

It will be fixed in the next upstream release and I've uploaded 0.8.10-4
to unstable that contains this fix.

Thanks for your hard work,

Please unblock package nss-pam-ldapd

Dear release team,

I've uploaded nss-pam-ldapd 0.8.10-3 to unstable that includes the
following fixes (from debian/changelog):

  * fix a problem in sed logic for commenting out disabled options
(closes: #689296)
  * support "EXTERNAL" SASL mechanism in debconf configuration (LP: #1063923)
(the debconf template update has been postponed to avoid having to
update all translations for a relatively minor change)
  * 01-use-poll-instead-of-select.patch: use poll() instead of select()
for checking file descriptor activity to also correctly work if more
than FD_SETSIZE files are already open (closes: #690319)

The first two should be really simple changes. The last one backports a
change from the upstream 0.8.11 release.

Attached is a debdiff between 0.8.10-1 currently in testing and
0.8.10-2.

Thanks.

Thanks Julien! I will non the less resend the debdiff, as some of the changes
have already been uploaded and we also need to tackle a CVS bug.

I hope I'll do it today.

Hi Christoph,

Please could you give back jackd2 to the kfreebsd-amd64 buildds...

It seems to have hung during the waf build, which happens about 25% of

Please unblock package xorg-server

Two changes:
- trivial memory leak in the glyph cache, only affects
xserver-xorg-core-udeb (the debs use a different code path)
- fix for pointer jumps with absolute devices, seems to be particularly
  bad in virtualbox.

Description of the second change:
dix: set the device transformation matrix

The property handler is registered after setting the property, so
dev->transform remains as all-zeros. That causes pixman_f_transform_invert()
to fail (in transformAbsolute()) and invert remains as garbage. This
may then cause a cursor jump to 0,0.

Since the axes are not yet initialized here and we need to allow for drivers
changing the matrix, we cannot use the property handler for matrix
initialization, essentially duplicating the code.

Triggered by the fix to (#49347) in 749a593e49adccdf1225be28a521412ec85333f4

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=852841

Also reported upstream at
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54353
and in Debian as #694598 and #688860.

Apologies for the long delay in getting back to you about this; it
managed to slip under the radar somehow. Please go ahead with the
upload; thanks.

Please unblock package guile-g-wrap

I just applied the patch of #694272 which seemed straightforward and
uploaded to DELAYED/3. The maintainer did not insisted and thus I
assume the package is fine for testing.

Bug#682906: unblock: python-defaults/2.7.3-2

2012-12-09 Thread Jonathan Nieder
Hi Scott,

First, a disclaimer: I'm not a python expert or a member of the
release team, so please take anything I say with a grain of salt.
This review is mostly meant to help get this unstuck.

Scott Kitterman wrote:

> - Match the version number for python and python2.7.3. Although this is

This is why the unblock is blocked by #683053, right?

The diff is (including changelog and tests)

  45 files changed, 466 insertions(+), 205 deletions(-)

including

 dh_python2 | 52 +---

As we've seen shebang normalization is not without complications. So
at this stage in the freeze, this wouldn't be the usual candidate for
an unblock.

On the other hand:

 (1) The impact is mostly at build time for rbuilddeps, and this
change has been in sid for half a year already. Any damage it
causes has probably already been done. :)

 (2) Worse, most packages are built in unstable and only migrate to
testing later, except for tpu, spu, and security uploads. Some
source packages could be relying on the effect of this upload
already and in that case _not_ migrating would just make trouble
for stable maintenance and security updates.

 (3) On the bright side, it's had half a year of testing.

So I am (reluctantly) in favor of including most of these changes
in wheezy, at least in principle.

On to the diff.

Not currently satisfied by python2.7 in wheezy. Would a tpu upload
that makes the other changes but leaves this one out make sense to
you?

Then the bulk of this upload could cleanly migrate to wheezy and the
python2.7 update could be considered separately and still could happen
if it seems appropriate.

That's

  * pyversions, dh_python2, pycompile: allow to override system's list of
supported Python versions via DEBPYTHON_SUPPORTED and default Python
version via DEBPYTHON_DEFAULT env. variables

Do any packages in wheezy use these envvars? What will happen if they
are rebuilt against python-defaults from wheezy?

If I understand #625740 correctly, without this change, dh_python2
generates "python2.6 | python2.7" dependencies which apt (sometimes?)
takes as defaulting to python2.6. I think this change should be
included in wheezy.

Please unblock package gri

I just applied the patch of #694275 which seemed straightforward and
uploaded to DELAYED/3. The maintainer did not insisted and thus I
assume the package is fine for testing.

packages are not using it yet. Once they do, they should use it for
tests only. Wheezy administrators will be able to easily re-add support
for Python 2.4 thanks to these envvars (rebuilding one package to add
2.4 symlinks should be much easier and safer with envvar than with
changing list of supported versions system-wide)

yes, at least one package was depending on the pil line, the rest is
just an update (fallback list is not generated at every build as it
requires network connection to download Contents file)

you should see what SQLAlchemy author does - there are over 100 KiB of
pure Python unit tests (for almost every bug reported) in sqlalchemy
0.7.9 (for which I still didn't send unblock request - I'll do it once
0.6.9 update for Squeeze is ready - I will need to convince you upstream

Right. I believe newer versions of Emacs automatically add directories
in some situations. As I recently mentioned elsewhere, I think it might
be worth taking some time to review the way we handle the load-path in
light of those changes, but that probably can (and should) wait until
after Wheezy.

Possibly. Also...

Release team: at this point, please hold off on 2.0.4 -- another bug has
been discovered that should probably also be included in wheezy:

  http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=693472

I'm waiting to see if Sébastien has time to review my fix, and then I'll
generate a 2.0.5 and resubmit.

And when I submit 2.0.5 here, should I include the debdiff against
2.0.4, or the full debdiff against what's currently in wheezy (i.e
including the 2.0.4 and 2.0.5 diffs)?

Thanks

I've now uploaded this additional bugfix, patch follows.

All of the changes since 1.6.3-1 in testing to 1.6.4-1 in unstable
are here:

http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=buildd-tools/schroot.git;a=shortlog;h=refs/heads/schroot-1.6

If some of the included changes here are too big, I'll be happy to
make an upload of a subset of the changes to testing-proposed-updates,
but I do need some feedback in order to start doing that.
There are a number of bugs fixed here:

692213: essential for kFreeBSD
686148,691694: security issue
#688304: cosmetic but annoying
#689078: broken environment; breaks buildd setup scripts; not
critical, but breaks interface. Required refactoring to
fix, which results in the bulk of the diff
#691376: mounts wrong filesystem on recovery.

And it also fixes a number of other issues including locking and
upgrade notes.

Regards,
Roger

Please unblock package guile-g-wrap

I just applied the patch of #694272 which seemed straightforward and
uploaded to DELAYED/3. The maintainer did not insisted and thus I
assume the package is fine for testing.
