Packages listed below need a recompile for some architectures.
Could these be issued? Since they'll have to go into stable
please ensure that you build them on a stable machine.

Re: php4 for potato

2001-03-30 Thread Martin Schulze
Hi!

Petr Cech has compiled php4 for **stable** again, since it contained two
bugs that should not make it into stable. He has placed his files on
pandora.d.o/~cech/php4 so any maintainer can grab it.

Petr, please upload it to stable. Somebody has to recompile it for other
five architectures. Porters, are you listening? I hope so.. be so kind,
please.

boot-floppies for stable

2001-04-12 Thread Martin Schulze
If somebody is compiling boot-floppies 2.2.22 (for stable through
proposed-updates) for any non-i386 arch, please let me know.

At the moment, I know that powerpc does not build due to a
kernel issue. I don't know anything about the other archs.

Arch's in question: alpha, arm, m68k, sparc.

[2.2r3] glibc 2.1.3-18 for alpha and powerpc?

2001-04-13 Thread Martin Schulze
Hi,

why is there no glibc 2.1.3-18 for alpha and powerpc but only
2.1.3-17? This hasn't changed for a couple of weeks now. If
possible I'd like to have it in sync. If that's not possible
I'd like to know why.

I'm not sure if I got you right. What was required to build this
image? Isn't it built through the regular powerpc build targed?

* Several security exploits found to icecast. No simple way to patch

* old version, so upgrade to latest stable version from icecast.org

* If questions or assistance needed join #icecast on openprojects.net
IRC

Do you have a documentation about said security exploits?
That's still pending

Is it something different than this one?

"icecast" is a server used to distribute audio streams to compatible
clients such as winamp, mpg123, xmms and many others.
Matt Messier ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) and John Viega ([EMAIL PROTECTED])
have identified several buffer overflow and format strings problems
in Icecast that could be remotely exploited.
Our latest update to this software changes the package to use an
unprivileged user ("icecast") for the daemon, so the impact of this
vulnerability is not as high. Recent distributions (CL >= 5.1) have
this package compiled with StackGuard to make it more difficult to
exploit buffer overflows.

It's said to be.

Clarification appreciated.

Linux Hacker Meeting (formerly m68k Hacker Meeting)

1999-09-08 Thread Martin Schulze
Hi folks,

we're happy to announce that the Linux User Group Oldenburg is
organizing another instance of the traditional m68k hackers meeting in
Oldenburg, Germany.

The development sesstion will last two days, from 15th to 16th of
October. You're invited to arrive on the afternoon/ evening of the
14th of October.

Since there are other architectures as well, only few m68k boxes left
over, we've renamed it to "Linux Hackers Meeting".

As usual we will provide two rooms, one for hack^H^H^H^Hworking and
one for resting (sleeping). We'll also provide net.connectivity as
usual. Like last year it will take place at the University building
in Wechloy. A map will follow.

I will provide two HP9000/425 boxes (m68k) and one HP9000/7xx (parisc)
for general hacking if you don't want to take your machine with you.

There will be a web page covering this event. I guess that it hasn't
been set up yet, though. Please expect information at

   http://www.debian.north.de/LUGO/

For further questions please contact me or [EMAIL PROTECTED] .

Details will follow later.

At the same time we will organize a LinuxDay that aims to show Linux
and its application to the public. This will be set up on Friday
while he public part will be at Saturday. Both events will take place
in the same building.

Regards,

Joey

Yes, I just haven't gotton around preparing that mail. I was at the
Linux Kongress recently, then had to organize several things, backup
job etc.

We're trying to get it for free, though, our tries weren't successful

We will have 2x 3 different power cycles so we should not reach another
power breakdown - unless you carry tons of hardware with you...

Invitation for the 1999 Linux Hacker's Meeting

1999-09-16 Thread Martin Schulze
This is the official invitation for the the 1999 Linux Hacker Meeting
in Oldenburg (formerly known as m68k Hacker's Meeting[1]).

Date: 15th + 16th October 1999

Location: Oldenburg, University, Wechloy

The development meeting will take place at the same rooms like last
year. However, if "too" many people are coming, we're going to swab
the rooms, so the bigger room would be used for working. We're also
organizing three independend power circuits that should help us avoid
a general power failure. :-)

We will get sponsored IP from the computing center of our University.
We are trying to get food sponsored as well. At this time I can't
give prognostics if and how successful we will be. If we aren't,
there will be fluid stuff and rolls etc. for regular prices. If we
are, they will be free of charge.

You may arrive on Thursday if you like. You may also stay longer if
you like. If you need to picked up at the train station, let us know
when you're going to arrive - i.e. tell us to receive a mobile number
from one of us.

If you can't carry machines with you, I will probably take some
special boxes from me for porting.

1x HP9000/425 (m68k), 16MB
1x HP9000/425 (m68k), 8MB
1x HP9000/7xx (parisc)
1x DECsystem 5000/240 (mipsel), 64MB

[1] I have renamed the meeting from "m68k Hacker's Meeting" since not
only 680x0 people are attending and not only this hardware is
worked on. The last meetings have shown that several people carry
an alpha, powerpc, sparc or whatever with them.

To help us planing with the rooms, amount of food and other please
fill out the following form and send it back to me.

This has been resolved. Food will be sponsored. Thus, no participation
fees will be taken.

Second Announcement regarding the 1999 Linux Hacker's Meeting

1999-10-12 Thread Martin Schulze
Hi,

I'd like to remind those of you who have forgotton about the meeting
or who have forgotton to register.

Please forward this mail whereever you find it appropriate. I'm sure
that I have missed some lists and forgot some individual.

Following a four-years tradition there will be another Linux Hacker
Meeting this year. It will take place next weekend, officially from
friday to saturday, while it is no problem to arrive on thursday and
to leave on sunday.

Date: 15th + 16th October 1999

Location: Oldenburg, University, Wechloy

Web: http://oldenburger.linuxtage.de/meeting/

This Hackers Meeting was formerly known as m68k hackers meeting,
though, with the time there were more and more non-m68k (and non-i386
as well) boxes so it's a general Linux Hackers Meeting. This is the
fourth meeting. Since Franky Neumann is far away in Karlsruhe I have
taken over administration.

Just like the last years, the purpose of this meeting is to get as
much of the Linux core developers and active users together to discuss
current problems, show off projects, exchange news, and generally to
have fun.

For those of you who are new to this meeting, Oldenburg is a town in
the north of Germany. It's some 40km far from Bremen and about 40km
south of the northern coast (the northsea is about 60km far). Like
last year the meeting will use some rooms at the mathematics
department of the local University.

One room is reserved for night issues (sleeping if you like) and there
will be access to showers as well. Food (fluid, bread, marmelade,
butter, coffee, tea, milk, fruits etc.) will be organized by the local
user group and sponsored by a local company, except dinner.

We will have sponsored IP access by the local computing center and
Joerg Dorchain will - as usual - configure his machine as masquerading
gateway during the meeting. This time we will provide three
independent power circuits to avoid a general power failure like last
year.

It would be good if everyone takes all his networking hardware with
him. Even an internal network can be fun (as we noticed in Solingen
'95). That includes things like:

  . Ethernet/ArcNet(uhm..) boards
  . Cabling (RG58, RG62, T connectors, terminators, SLIP cabling)
. Serial terminals for debugging purposes
. PCs (where available) that could act as gateways/cross compile machines

What you should take with you at least:

. Your computer and monitor, mouse, keyboard, cabling
. Other peripherals (CD-ROM, DAT etc.)
  . Technical documentation - 68030/040/060/851/881/882, HP
etc. manuals, VGA controller databooks etc.
. At least one triple plug to provide power for your machine (of
course more where available)
. Long power cable reels where available
. Air mattress, sleeping-bag, cushion, ear plug if those next to
you tend to snort :-)
  . Clothes, tooth-brush, tooth-paste, soap, towel
. programmer's food - fruit, chocolate, "Haribo", chips etc.
. soldering iron, tools, screw-driver, spare parts
. Please also take plate, knife/fork and your coffee mug/whatever
with you. We will try to provide enough for you but that's still
unclear.
  . Road map, http://oldenburger.linuxtage.de/meeting/ contains a local
map beginning at the highway. Please check out Franky's old
description on how to get here:
http://www.informatik.uni-oldenburg.de/~amigo/Oldenburg98/get_here.html

!! Please mark all things that you take with you and want to take !!
!! back as well with your name!!!

On friday lunch can be taken by the local cafeteria, on saturday
they're closed but you may eat a second breakfast or walk to McD
*sigh*. Dinner will be eaten as a group in some nice restaurants.

We will get some boxes of water, cola, juice for you.

. Smoking. In the rooms we use smoking is prohibited. Please walk
outside for that.
. No drunkards. We won't mind people drinking a beer or two, but
please stay reasonable. If someone starts going wild, we'll have
him thrown out.
. Phone: I know that most of you will come with a mobile so you'll
know how to get reached. For those who haven't one of use has one
as well and we can provide his number on demand.
  . Entrance fee: None!
. If anyone starts misusing our ip connection (like trying to hack
accounts or flood-pinging the network), we'll send him home
immediately. I mean it! We'll be made responsible for any abuses
of the services we get offered. We haven't had any problems of
that kind the last two years, but I'll better to mention it.

How about those guys who are still very active but have not visited
Oldenburg yet - any chance, Andreas etc? :-)

To help us planing with the rooms, amount of food and other please
fill out the following form and send it back to me.

Nope!

If a bill is to be sent it has to be sent by a treasurer, e.g. the one

Invitation to the Oldenburg Linux Developers Meeting

2005-09-05 Thread Martin Schulze
Dear developers,

there will be another Linux developers meeting taking place in
Oldenburg at the last weekend in September this year. Like last year,
we will be able to start on Wednesday and work until Sunday. So
diligent people can work up to four days in Oldenburg.

Executive summary:

URL: http://meeting.ffis.de/Oldenburg2005/
What: Oldenburg Linux Developers Meeting #A
Who: Every developer interested in Linux on non-i386 platforms
Every developer interested in developing the debian-installer
   Every developer interested in Debian-Java
When: September, 21st to 25th (Wednesday noon to Sunday afternoon)
Where: University of Oldenburg, science building in Oldenburg Wechloy
Orga: ffis e.V., Martin 'Joey' Schulze
Bonus: Regular rooms again, at least partially

The goal of this developers meeting is to provide developers a means
to work in common on the non-i386 Linux ports and related topics and
to further the exchange of ideas and discussion about these ports.
However, Debian developers and Debian Java people have asked whether
they can piggy-back a meeting at the same location as well.

We will have dedicated working and sleeping rooms in the university.
We are allowed to use the shower facility of the sports department
nearby where we can sleep as well this year.

We will have dinner together in a restaurant in the evening. I'll put
a plan will be on the web soon. If you prefer to stay at the
university and not go out having a dinner, please let me know in time
as this affects restaurant space requirements.

We will have a never-ending breakfast in one of the working rooms.
I'll get rolls each morning and try to ensure that there will be
enough butter, cheese, sausages, jam, Nutella and stuff. I will also
take care of non-alcoholic fluids.

Beside machines, equipment and documentation you'll need to take with
you a sleeping bag, maybe a camping mat or cot, towels, shower stuff,
personal toilett accessories, maybe medicine, clothes. A mug, plate
and cutlery are optional but helpful. Don't forget enough power
chords, extenders and network cables.

You'll find routing information on the website mentioned above.

If you would like to attend the meeting, please send back the
following form, so that I can calculate space, power and food.

Invitation to the 6th Linux Developers Meeting in Oldenburg

2001-09-12 Thread Martin Schulze

  -
6th Linux Developers Meeting in Oldenburg

Thursday, September 27th to Sunday, 30th

   University of Oldenburg, Wechloy
  -

This is the public invitation for Linux developers to attend this
years' Linux Developers Meeting in Oldenburg. The scope of this
meeting is to port Linux to non-intel architectures. It is derived
from the linux/m68k meeting 1995 in Solingen , though, recently there
were a lot of other architectures as well.

Just like the last years, the purpose of this meeting is to get as
much of the Linux/m68k core developers and active users together to
discuss current problems, show off projects, exchange news, and
generally to have fun.

Like last year, the meeting will take place from thursday afternoon
(September 27th) to sunday evening (September 30th). You don't have
to attend from thursday, it's an offer for those of you who would like
to and who can afford coming early. If you can't make it that early,
just join when you can afford it. The meeting will take place at the
same place like last year (that is University of Oldenburg, Wechloy).

For those of you, who don't know Oldenburg yet, it's in the northern
part of Germany. That means, you'll find lots of green areas (trees,
meadows etc.), good air and less industries. The meeting will be held
at the science building of the University of Oldenburg, in Oldenburg
Wechloy.

If you would like to attend the meeting, please send back this form,
so I can calculate space, power, food and stuff. Space, power and
connectivity will thankfully be sponsored by the University, food and
stuff will be sponsored by ffis e.V., except dinner in restaurants.
We will be able to use showers inside of the sport building.

You'll need to take with you these things: machines, monitors,
technical documentation (very important), enough triple plugs for your
machines, some network cabling, some hubs/switches, sleeping bag, air
mattress, towel, shower stuff, plate, cutlery, coffee mug.

Comprehensive Information are on the web:
http://oldenburger.linuxtage.de/Oldenburg2001/

It would be nice if boot-floppies_2.2.26 would be uploaded into stable for
all missing archs, i.e. for alpha, arm, m68k, powerpc, sparc

Especially a powerpc upload would be nice since the only
reason for 2.2.26 to get into stable is to fix powerpc

Now that there are so many hosts of one arch, that's proper. When we
started, we only had on ia32, one m68k and one powerpc. It was no big
deal to alias them. Nowardays, it's not required and useful anymore.

We won't use he MkLinux installer but try to install it as a whole
or in parts using tar and gunzip.

To be hones this machine even doesn't have the installer as I had
to re-install MacOS on it.

Tomorrow I'll create an account for you on that machine, same

I tried that one but it was very hard as the MkLinux/RedHat is heavily
screwed. It took me several months (i couldn't afford working on it
every day though).

This time I tried a different way and I'm really impressed. Klee
Dienes has created an mklinuxfs.tar.gz (look at his home directory
on masterr, and the /alien directory) which is some debian base for
powerpc.

After installing this one, configuring it and fixing permissions
it works. Ask netgod, his auto-compiler is running as hell.

Hartmut Koptein <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> seems to be working on it.

Yes, I've mirrored it here.

I think this should not be too difficult as you can boot the machine
via floppy, so it should be possible to use the boot-floppies package
(but forget the syslinux stuff)

Please take a look at the system, I'll create the same account as
on master: powerpc.debian.org.

Afaik theres still a problem. Just try to compile it and you'll
see the problem. We're getting internal compiler errors during
compilation of some packages (binutils, egcs...)

Glibc on PowerPC

1997-12-23 Thread Martin Schulze
Good day David,

I've created an account for you on the Debian PowerPC machine. It's
the same password as on master. At the moment only telnet and ftp
access works (no ssh, rlogin, rsh).

We'd be happy if you could try to get a recent glibc compile on that
architecture. This would solve some of our problems with compiling
various programs on that machine.

The machine is aliased to powerpc.debian.org.

As this would be a very strong change, I believe we should first verify
that the new glibc works and that we're able to set up a fresh system.

At the moment we have an mklinuxfs.tar.gz containing "old" libraries.
We need this for a new system, too.

Before Guy is removing the files on master which I think would
be needed (btw. remove it step by step so mirrors doesn't get screwed)
in order to get a consistant system.

BUT: If a new installation is needed we still need the old libraries.
This means we need to store them somewhere. I'll burn them on cd-rom
before the directories vanishes. If there's enough space what I think
I'll put some rpm's on it, too.

We also need to keep the libc6 and libc6.1 debfiles around so we are
able to do new installations.

Well, this also bombs my plans. I was about finishing the
Debian-PowerPC-Howto, seems this has to wait now.

Does this affect the soname, too? I fear yes, but I also don't really
see a way to get around this

Not really...

If we can provide runtime libc6 (current) and new libc6.1 with
new binaries depend on this it should be ok.

Well, do you remember the time when the machine kept crashing at least
every second day and the filesystem got completely screwed up?

Apart from that I'd like to be able to install it on another machine.
I would be very unhappy if we needed to start from the very beginning
again. I'm just careful.

PowerPC won't be ready for 2.0. We still have severe glibc problems

This is a known bug which has been addressed. The base system
currently lacks an awk. Hartmut will include one in the next
base tarball.

Did you try to reinstall the shellutils.deb?

This libc is incompatible with most of all libc's for PowerPC
before. You cannot run old binaries with the new libc.[1]

Check your TERM, LINES and COLUMNS variables. I know from other
systems that they mess up with my screen modes.

Since the libraries this is difficult. We tried this, I believe these
trials did cost us at least half of a year - together with endless
compilations of new and old C libraries, compatibility packages,
screwing the system etc.

Try to compile it on your own. If it's not in main but in experimental
it won't be compiled regularily.

but it didn't work as expected.

Neither do I, btw. I owned intel PCs for about 10 years, did some
hardware hacking in my former life, and learned to hate Apples.
Then I got this machine next to me... Wow, with Linux they're useful...

> me how can i install the powerpc-base.tar.gz ? i don't want to

Ok. You should the the following:

a) boot the disk under Linux, somehow, via installer, boot disk,
cdrom. At least it runs under Linux.

b) Get essential programs to work. These are: shell, mke2fs, tar,
pdisk (fdisk replacement) gunzip, mount, umount (sync, eject
   could be helpful), maybe quik

c) a way to access external data, e.g. by ftp'ing, reading from
a hfs partition, external disk with data written by another
   system.

If these work you should:

. partition the disk
. mke2fs a file system on it
. mount it
. mount the hfs partition (assuming you put the powerpc-base there)
. Install it with cat power-base|gzip -d|tar -x -C /mnt -f -
. Adjust passwords
. Install a working kernel
. Figure how you can boot, either by using quik or a different
  mechanism
. Adjust OF
. try to boot

I hope so.

Currently the PowerPC port seems to be stable. However we don't have
boot disks right now.

Please reload the installation page. I've added the remaining. Sorry,
I was forced to put up *something* and there was no time left to complete
it.

Folks,

it's done.

Tervola now boots from the IDE disk. I noticed that 1.5GB of
space is already used and there's only 400MB left. I'm not sure
if that's the expected disk usage.

fortune-mod needs *more* than fourhundred megabytes? I've seen
big packages, and I've seen large packages, and I've even heard
of huge packages but this breaks everything.[1]

> Have you a second hardisk for compiling purpose ??

Currently there's also the 1gig scsi drive connected and the
300mb scsi drive that we use as backup system. It contains
the last but one system. Please do *not* use it for something
else. The 1gig drive however can be used freely.

Once finlandia (main server) is fixed I'll re-arrange disks in
some systems which might affect tervola as well.

Joey

Re: sid for LinuxPPC, boot-disks

Good choice. I've set CC to the debian-powerpc list. Feel free to
check that list, too, i.e. it's archive at
http://www.debian.org/Lists-Archives/

> Now: How do I do this? I didn't see any LinuxPPC-bootdisks...

Currently we don't have them. I seem to remember that one out of
the porting team was about playing around with them. Until that
you either have to use the linuxppc bootdiske (to be found at
ftp.linuxppc.org) or overwrite an existing system by unpacking a
tarball over it.

> Is there a way to slowly upgrade from RedHat to Debian without

If you're familiar with Debian this is no problem. If you're not,
this will be a hassle.

Basically you should get the powerpc base system tarball. If you
don't want to harm your existing system, you should untar it in
/new and copy as much files to their normal places as you can.

ftp://ftp.infodrom.north.de/pub/Linux/linux-pmac/debian/glibc2.1-system/base-powerpc.tar.gz

The most important files are:
/var/lib/dpkg
/etc/init.d* /etc/rc* /etc/passwd /etc/group /etc/alternatives
/usr/bin
/usr/sbin

These files have to be copied as a minimum since they include
basic tools and configuration files for a Debian system. Once
you have installed this tarball you can continue with dpkg -i
or dselect.

Come to Oldenburg and this is possible. There will be quite some people
with burners around and a debian mirror is good reachable - if the power
is not turned off. Even then I can write you two cd's.

Right now it doesn't make much sense selling ppc cds. The system
doesn't yet boot off off a cd nor do we have a powerpc boot disk
set. This is one of the things we should consider for Oldenburg.
It would be helpful if you could try to work something out so we
would have a start.

The costs for new cd's are so low that it doesn't make sense to
invent a debian office who sends freshly burned CD roms to new
wannabe maintainers. There are a lot of maintainers all around
the world who can burn you a custom Cd if you just ask. Hint:
Phil Hands also lives in the UK.

I know that Espy is working on it. But when three ppc hackers are
around 5 computers there is a fair chance to get it working faster
than by the work of one single person.

For commercial vendors there is no market for exprimental Debian
PowerPC stuff. I'm nagged by a vendor in .de for about half a year.
But without boot floppies and stable glibc this doesn't make sense.
Now that the libc is stable we need the boot floppies. :-)

> Did you get agetty working again? I wonder why it stopped because

Anyway, the problem still is that agetty doesn't assign the correct
tty to login or something. This results in accepting the password
on the new (agetty-served) console while login or agetty prompts for
the password on that one, too, but you have to enter the password
on the console from where you started the getty. The resulting shell
uses the correct output but wrong input tty.

Somebody want's to fix this?

Args. I was told that this was fixed yesterday, so I didn't pay
attention anymore. Apparently it was not. I apologize for my lack
for administrator duties.

I'm sorry, but people keep installing exim but forget about contacting
me about it.

I have now re-installed Smail since it's the MTA that causes least trouble
and I'm able to configure it.

It provides:

 . Local user delivery

 . Support for ~/.forward files

. Support for real-user to bypass a .forward file

. Localhost is localhost, tervola, tervola.infodrom.north.de
   and powerpc.debian.org

. Outgoing mail is sent to a smarthost

. Incoming mail is only accepted from the 0 MX machine.

. Execution via inetd, limited by tcpd

Please don't change it without notifying me.

The same setup should be installed on kullervo. If not, I might get over
and remove exim there in order to install Smail, too.

my case it didn't detect the ethercard which made the machine pretty useless.

There are a bunch of packages (~300 irrc) that are not compilable on
our powerpc machines. Hartmut maintainer a list. These need work. For
the regular stuff we have some auto-compiler running.

The second - but very important - issue covers the boot-floppies for

Invitation to the Oldenburg Linux Developers Meeting #9

2004-08-20 Thread Martin Schulze
Moin!

Invitation to the Oldenburg Linux Developers Meeting #9
   ---

Executive summary:

URL: http://oldenburger.linuxtage.de/Oldenburg2004/
What: Oldenburg Linux Developers Meeting #9
Who: Every developer interested in Linux on non-i386 platforms
Every developer interested in developing the debian-installer
When: September, 22nd to 26th (Wednesday noon to Sunday afternoon)
Where: University of Oldenburg, science building in Oldenburg Wechloy
Orga: ffis e.V., Martin 'Joey' Schulze

Keeping the tradition alive we will organise another Linux developers
meeting in Oldenburg this year at the last weekend of September. This
year, however, we will be able to use the facility from Wednesday to
Sunday, hence, one day longer than before.

There were loud complaints last year about the meeting being too
short, so it will be extended by one day this time. The meeting will
take place at the University of Oldenburg in the scientific building
in Oldenburg Wechloy.

the goal of this developers meeting is to provide developers a means
to work in common on the non-i386 Linux ports and related topics and
to further the exchange of ideas and discussion about the several
ports.

We will have dedicated working and sleeping rooms as before. We
should be able to use three more rooms during the nights in case the
number of attending developers is too high for the two dedicated
sleeping rooms. We will be able to use the shower facility of the
sports department nearby.

This year Debian developers will join us again for work on the new
debian-installer. They will probably want to test the installer on
some "obscure" hardware they don't normally have access to, so don't
worry if you should receive such a request.

We will have dinner together in a restaurant in the evening. A
preliminary plan is on the web already, but the restaurants and the
order may still change. We will have a barbecue on Friday for this is
the tenth developers meeting already.

As usual we will have a never-ending breakfast in the large working
room. I will get rolls each morning and ensure that there will be
butter, cheese, saussages, jam, Nutella and stuff. I'll also take
care of non-alcoholic fluids.

Attendance is free of cost including food and beverage in the working
rooms (although we are always thankful for donations, EUR 10-20 per
person should cover the expenses). However, for the barbecue on
Friday instead of a restaurant we would be thankful if you could take
a stake in the expenses, EUR 5-10 should cover the costs.

Beside machines, equipment and documentation you'll need to take with
you a sleeping bag, maybe a camping mat or cot, towels, shower suff,
personal toilett stuff, maybe medicine, clothes, mug and plate are
optional but helpful.

You'll find routing information on the website mentioned above.

If you would like to attend the meeting, please send back the
