Hi maintainer,

unfortunately yet another major API and ABI breakage happened
in libgps on the way to gpsd version 3. The result is that your
package does not build against gpsd 3.3/libgps20, which is
available in experimental.

Details why this had to happen are described here:
http://www.catb.org/gpsd/protocol-transition.html

Unfortunately the progress to implement this took a long time,
including gpsd 2.95 which was released with Squeeze and shipped
with a slightly different API and ABI.
Migrating to the new and hopefully final API should be easy,
if there is help needed either ask me or jump into #gpsd
on the freenode network.

The error messages from my test build are attached below.

Documentation:
http://www.catb.org/gpsd/libgps.html
http://www.catb.org/gpsd/libgpsmm.html
http://www.catb.org/gpsd/client-howto.html

Best regards,

Bernd

I think the best solution is to split out the binaries from libbatik-java;
that should allow use to remove the JRE dependencies per Java Policy.

As for the JRE dependencies, I think the java2-runtime-headless might have
been a mistake (and should have been java6 + java7). I will check up on
that.

Bug#667664: a fix for this

2012-06-23 Thread Russell Coker
Bug #667664 is due to the latest versions of the libpcre3 library setting
reg.re_nsub to an extremely large value and dansguardian trying to allocate
memory for that many records and having malloc fail.

I've attached a patch for dansguardian which fixes this. I'll upload a
delayed NMU tomorrow if there is no response.

I am not certain that libpcre3 is doing the right thing here, but I am certain
that dansguardian is doing the wrong thing in trying to blindly allocate more
than 2^50 bytes of RAM. I've made it allocate no more than 1024 records for
sub regexes as I find it difficult to imagine anyone needing more than that.

I am not able to reproduce the the problem.
Could you try:
-starting "thg" from a terinal? Does it work?
-start nautilus from a terminal and paste me the output
-do you have the "/usr/share/nautilus-python/extensions/nautilus-thg.py" file?

Thanks,

Package: util-linux
Version: 2.20.1-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

serial console with getty is broken in current versions:

* getty of util-linux 2.19.1-5 works fine

* getty of util-linux 2.20.1-1 / 2.20.1-4 / 2.20.1-5 no longer
  works, it does nothing but after a few seconds the command returns
  with exit code 1

* I've also tested new upstream versions 2.21.1 and 2.21.2
  (built with debian/)

Rational for severity grave: breaks login for serial consoles

Cool. Thanks for the patch, I will do an upload as soon as possible.

Indeed, both seems wrong to me, but the most important thing is to get a
working dansguardian into wheezy.

Surprisingly, the piuparts website reports the package to be successful:
http://piuparts.debian.org/sid/source/m/masqmail.html

Nevertheless, we're investigating and working on it. We appreciate
the useful and details information you've provided. Thanks.

That's not an upgrade test.

Look here (some time in the future, package is not yet tested,
dependencies are still queued):
http://piuparts.debian.org/testing2sid/source/m/masqmail.html

Or try a dist-upgrade from squeeze to sid.

After some investigation, it appears that PostgreSQL now listens only on
5433 (SSL) while PHP is not aware of this change. Setting `$dbport` to
`'5433'` solves the problem.

I don't know the correct way to fix this. I don't think this should be
fixed in roundcube. Either PHP should default to 5433 instead of 5432
(like psql is doing right now) or dbconfig-common should default to
5433.

I have filed a bug against php5-pgsql (#678626) about this. I am marking
this bug as being blocked but the new bug in the mean time.

Thanks for spotting, I've got an upstream fix ready.

The code in question dates back to 2009 and was never touched ever
since. Looks like

#if __BYTE_ORDER == __BIG_ENDIAN

evaluated to false all the years, but I doubt this can be true.

Anyway, compiles fine now on my QS21. Will upload later next week after
the changeset got some testing by other developers.

Cheers

Dear Maintainer,
*** Please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

The problem appear after an upgrade from postgresql 8.x to 9.x and un upgrade

After upgrade, when I try to load the rouncube web page from a brower, I get

So I tried to reconfigure roundcube database connection, without success. I
also tried to completely
purge roundcube, remove all trace I could see from the previous configuration,
and reinstall it
from scratch. I get the same errors (both in the web page and in the log file).

I tried to change the connection to the database (tried both unix socket and
TCP/IP, tried both ident
and password for authentication). Nothing worked.

I tried to look at the posgresql pg_hba.conf file, it allowed peer method for
local connections and md5 method
for host connection, both in IPv4 and IPv6. I tried to connect to the roundcube
database from the
command line using a non-priviledged user, with command line "psql -h localhost
-U roundcube roundcube". It
did succeed with the same password that was configured in the $dbpass setting
in /etc/roundcube/debian-db.php.
When connecting to the database from the command line, the command /d does
display the tables that were
created at some point by one of the attempts to reconfigure roundcube, so I
guess the tables are here and

This makes a Backup named masqmail.dpkg-bak, for the old file wich was

Bug#678636: initramfs-tools: dm-crypt partitions not further working. No asking password to encrypt. System will not boot

2012-06-23 Thread Pierre Bernhardt
Package: initramfs-tools
Version: 0.106
Severity: critical
Tags: upstream
Justification: breaks the whole system

After patching my system 3 days ago it will not further boot up. The initramfs
prompt comes before the keypass has to been normally asked for to decrypt my
root partition with the contained lvm root vol disk group.
Before the upgrade been made I didn't hat the problem. I guess this comes with
the upgrade of the initramfs-tools from 0.103 to 0.106.

Work around at the moment is to use cryptsetup luksOpen manually and start all
lvmvolumes before continue with the boot process by using Crtl-D.

Hrm, OK. 3.5.4-4 migrated to testing last Sunday (2012-06-17), so you probably
has it. Weird that it still happens.

Maybe some other (external from LO) extension still has the same bug because it
copied LO stuff over?. Can you give me the output of dpkg -l | grep libreoffice
so see what LO and LO extensions you have installed in exact versions?

Well, as said, there was #619263, so upgrades with sudo can run into it
when it does stuff with $HOME...

Nah, you get them later. (Testing is not managed by maintainers but by
the release team.) :-)

(And no, you shouldn't do "upgrade" but "dist-upgrade" for updated/changes
dependencies, etc ;-))

Nah, that scenario is understandable but I still don't like it ;-/

Now that you mention it, a DIST-upgrade may indeed be a good idea,
since I am not sure what is going on under the hood anyway.

Thanks for your work and diligence, and let me know if I can be of any
further assistance. LO has become one of those essential apps where one
really feels breakage.

This lists both 2.6.32-5 and 3.2.0-2 kernels.
What kernel version do you try to boot, and is its initramfs updated?
By default only most recent kernel does have initramfs updated when updating
packages.
Your setup has many moving parts that can go wrong.
Please list versions of mdadm, dmsetup, libdevmapper*, *cryptsetup*

You are using mixed system, packages may have bugs in their depends, so that
manual updating or bug reporting is maybe needed.

Your raid1 arrays look strange, with only one component device in each.

Bug#678541: closed by Vincent Bernat (Re: Bug#678541: roundcube-pgsql: roundcube cannot connect to postgresql after purge and complete reinstall)

2012-06-23 Thread luc

Thanks a lot!

As you had guessed, the previous version of postgresql had been
removed, hence port 5432 was not used anymore.
I have reconfigured the only remaining version of postgresql to listen
to the default 5432 port instead of the
5433 port it was using (probably as part of the postgresql update). For
the record, the configuration is in the file
/etc/postgresql//main/postgresql.conf and requires
restarting postgresql using the command "invoke-rc.d postgresql
restart".

Roundcube can now connect properly (and I am using it to post the final
message).

Thanks again for the very quick answer, and sorry for the noise.

Luc

Bug#678636: Acknowledgement (initramfs-tools: dm-crypt partitions not further working. No asking password to encrypt. System will not boot)

2012-06-23 Thread Pierre Bernhardt
Hello,

I tried to use older initramfs-tools 0.103 by reinstalling them with
dpkg -i /var/cache/apt/archives/initramfs-tools_0.103_all.deb
update-initramfs -k all -u

All installed kernee have still the same problem so I guess it could
comes not only from initramfs-tool.

Now I will reinstall older initramfs from backup to /boot to see
where exactly the problem comes from and when it has been occured.

Also I will check the grub.cfg for modifications.

  As far as I can tell, the conversion programs were working fine with
java2 runtimes (gij, a few years ago). However, the graphical
interface didn't work (I'm not even sure they work properly with
openjdk 6 or 7). I'm unsure splitting out is a good idea at this
point, since some programs may depend on libbatik-java to provide
rasterize: changing that too close from the freeze isn't a good
idea...

  Cheers,

  Vincent

Subject: Outdated version of Zoph in Debian

Hi,

I am the maintainer of "Zoph", a webbased program to organize photos.
This program has been part of Debian for a long time, but it has not
been updated for a while. I have contacted the Debian maintainer,
Edelhard Becker, about this several times, but to no avail.

The current version in Debian has several issues, including a few
security-related of which some are severe. All of these are fixed in the
latest release, 0.9 which will be released today.

Because Edelhard seems to be unwilling and/or unable to fix this, I am
requesting you to either find a new maintainer or remove it from the
package database.

Thank you,
Jeroen Roos

I think the best solution is to split out the binaries from libbatik-java;
that should allow use to remove the JRE dependencies per Java Policy.

As for the JRE dependencies, I think the java2-runtime-headless might have
been a mistake (and should have been java6 + java7). I will check up on
that.

The current released version of rapidsvn is incompatible with the
upcoming Subversion 1.7 due to the way rapidsvn constructs the
Subversion client context object. This causes rapidsvn to SEGV
on the first working copy operation.

A fix for this problem has been committed to rapidsvn trunk, but
is not yet in any release. The patch is r8195 in the upstream
repository.

If openssh-server needs a new version of libssl1.0.0, it must depend on
it. This already brought us a breaks in libssl1.0.0, so I intend to fix
this with a NMU if necessary.

Bug#676717: dh_installcatalogs transition and w3c-dtd-xhtml removal bugs

2012-06-23 Thread Osamu Aoki
Hi,

Thanks for completing sgml-base transition. Here is some comments on
sgml-base from an outside observer.

Since you got enough impressive people, you can treat this as just FYI
and non-blocking comment.

This is non-essential but I thought it may be good idea not to make
postinst script robust. As it is written now, any non-zero exit code of
update-catalog will break postinst script.

Why not like:
   update-catalog --quiet --update-super ||
   echo "SGML catalog is broken. Read
/usr/share/doc/sgml-base/README.trouble." 1>&2

This way, postinst will not stop and it will not be quiet when it should
not be. It will not stop installation. I may be wrong here though.

FYI: I did not understand why this script returns
 * 1=error for normal errors,
 * 0=non-error for goods and
 * -1=error (for shell this 255) for --help and --version.
The last type was not expected.

thanks

Attached is the patch to remove the check completely. In Debian we have
dependencies to express this sort of checks. If (>= 1.0.0) is actually
not enough, you have to fix openssl.

Bug#678644: Outdated version of Zoph in Debian

Severity grave bug opened against package zoph, security tag added,
requesting either some packaging action or removal from the archive.

Popcon says that the outdated Debian package doesn't have many users:
http://qa.debian.org/popcon.php?package=zoph

If the current maintainer (or a new maintainer) doesn't show up very soon
with an upload of the new upstream version, it is probably best to remove it
from Debian, as apparently the users have already given up on the
Debian-packaged zoph and are probably using upstream packages directly.

Jeroen, I am sure our security team would appreciate if you could post the
relevant security fixes in your new upstream version to this bug report, as
we will have to do something about the Zoph package in Debian stable,
regardless of the fate of this package for the next stable release.

This is somewhat intentional. If update-catalog breaks, then something
really is broken and should fail loudly.

>update-catalog --quiet --update-super ||

This would hide failures to write the super catalog and cause very nasty
failures as we have seen in the past.

I think that update-catalog never had a useful distinction between 1 and
-1. For instance it runs into both printing a usage sometimes. (--help
causes -1, --doesnotexist causes 1) Note that a "die" results in -1.

What kind of failures are "normal errors"? Which failures would you like
not to be loud?

This should be working in apt in wheezy (I didn't verify it), but that
is not available at dist-upgrade time.

> A conflict with `roundcube-sqlite`
> may work but is it sane to add "Conflicts" for this?

I just tested Breaks and Conflicts with roundcube-sqlite (in the end
added them to all binary packages built from roundcube source), this
does not help at all (it could influence apt to prefer the decision to
remove roundcube-sqlite, but that was its intention from the very
beginning). (And I also suggested to add Breaks in another bug report
(#677403) for a different Package (gdal) to make a conflict explicit
which could be derived previously by following a chain of several
packages ...)

On the other hand, adding the following transitional package:

Package: roundcube-sqlite
Architecture: all
Depends: roundcube-mysql | roundcube-pgsql
Description: transitional dummy package to aid upgrades
 "Transitional packages are your friend, conflicts are not" D.K.
 Closes: #677803

solves the problem.

The problem is that metafont segfaults on armhf. This looks to be some
odd kind of architecture specific problem in armhf's malloc, which
I've asked for assistance with on debian-arm, but have received
none.[1]

Finally, please don't post the entire build log to the BTS. It's
easily available from the buildd webpage (and in this case, is totally
uniformative.)

I have asked help in debian-devel@ (but forgot the Cc). But your
solution seems good in fact. I didn't think it in this way. This seems
equivalent to the current situation where someone installs roundcube
From scratch and get roundcube-mysql unless it explicitely installs
roundcube-pgsql. If I don't get any answer tomorrow in debian-devel@, I
will implement your solution.

 appropriately.

There is no migration path. That does not seem too hard but not too easy
either. There is already a bug report where the question was asked (but
maybe there should be a dedicated bug report):

So you mean --quiet and error exit is good? I see. I still worry about
being too quiet to hide source of the trouble. Do you think we need

  update-catalog --quiet --update-super || update-catalog --update-super

If --quiet gives good enough indication of error, we do not need this. I
have not checked Maybe I am too worried with no reason. If you
think this is OK, no problem with me.

I have no idea. That is why I marked FYI. Maybe non-essential
variation.

Bug#678684: llvm-defaults: reversion to llvm 3.0 makes binary versions regress

2012-06-23 Thread Adam D. Barratt
Source: llvm-defaults
Version: 11
Severity: serious

Hi,

The reversion of the default llvm version from 3.1 to 3.0 means that the
version numbers used for binary packages have regressed, as they encode
the llvm version.

This is why most architectures are stuck at "uploaded" on
https://buildd.debian.org/status/package.php?p=llvm-defaults - the
binary packages currently in the archive have version 3.1-10, whereas
the newly uploaded binaries have version 3.0-11 and therefore get
automagically removed by dak. I imagine an epoch for the binary
packages would be the simplest solution at this point.

Regards,

Adam

Well, I don't really care, I don't even know what roundcube is. It just
failed to upgrade :-)
At least there should be a roundcube-sqlite.NEWS describing the issue to
your users.

Unfortunately, ppp is not available on kfreebsd and this change

Indeed. It's obviously not unstable, nor even stable as that had perl

particularly impressive at having to do it again.

This bug (cups needs a more strict dependency on libcups) is now
properly fixed in cups-client with
  Depends: libcups2 (= ${binary:Version})
but not in cups with
  Depends: libcups2 (>= ${binary:Version})

Please fix the dependency in cups, currently there is still the
potential problem that a private symbol removed in a more recent
libcups2 package causes breakage.

Thanks in advance

I've seen you have replied on GitHub two weeks ago. Great!

Do you think you'll be able to fix this in the next few days,
or shall we workaround it to ship Dancer-Plugin-Database in Debian Wheezy?

Bug#675971: what should we be doing?

2012-06-23 Thread Michael Schmitt

Hi folks,

I guess shipping both versions with wheezy is not a viable option? At
least I think that it would make sense. Disclaimer in the readme,
explanation of the situation, if a major security exploit does surface
(a mumble-client-crash is not a major security risk imho), remove that
second version (if there is no somewhat easy fix at that time). Call the
package mumble-client-buggy that conflicts with the "normal" client and
I guess all users can decide on their own if they want to be safe or
actually talk to other people.

regards
Michael

Source: sgml-data
Severity: serious

Dear maintainer(s) of sgml-data,

TL;DR: Please upload a new version of this package closing this bug.

Problem
~~~
Your package uses the dh_installcatalogs helper from debhelper. This helper
added code to the postinst that unconditionally overwrites files in /etc which
is a policy violation. The corresponding bug #477751 is now solved in
debhelper. Nevertheless the code overwriting files in /etc is still present in
a binary package built from this source package, so your package needs a
rebuild. Unfortunately the binary package in question is Architecture: all, so
a binNMU is not enough.
How to solve
This bug tracks the progress of the rebuild and should be closed by any upload
of this package. Before building, please ensure that your debhelper version is
at least 9.20120528 which should be the case if you are running sid.
Is my package really/still affected?
Any binary package using the dh_installcatalogs helper will add a versioned
dependency on sgml-base. If the depended upon version is at least 1.26+nmu2,
your package is not affected. In that case, just close this bug.
If you have any further questions concerning this issue, please don't hesitate
to contact me.
Thanks for your help
Helmut
Bug#678714: kde-config-gtk-style: Applet tries to scan user home directory, endlessly following symlinks
2012-06-23 Thread Grigory Ivanov
Package: kde-config-gtk-style
Version: 3:2.0-3
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable
Dear Maintainer,
At the initialization this KCM hangs infinitely. Strace shows, that module
walks through file system, follows circular symlinks, and never stops.
1. Following the symlinks without checking may cause an infinite loop if they
are circular. Search should not endlessly walk in circles.
2. Its pointless to fully scan user home directory anyways. What it is trying
to find? Size of mine ~ is several Tb, it contains millions of files, such full
scan would take hours. Search should be limited to some specific folders.
