Bug#434994: fglrx-kernel-src: Unable to build module with kernel 2.6.21

2007-07-28 Thread Romain Bignon
Package: fglrx-kernel-src
Version: 8.38.6-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

The module can't be built because of a license problem.

In firegl_public.c:249 we have:

MODULE_LICENSE("Proprietary. (C) 2002 - ATI Technologies, Starnberg,
GERMANY");

When you try to build module with make.sh, this error will occure:

FATAL: modpost: GPL-incompatible module fglrx.ko uses GPL-only symbol
'paravirt_ops'

I can change MODULE_LICENSE() string to "GPL and additional rights"
and it will build, but I think it isn't the solution, because of license
rights.

How exactly is the 18h memory test related to this? How can you run
metacity while running memtest86+? Memtest86+ is some kind of boot image
which has to be run at boot time, isn't it?

Or maybe you are running memtester? In that case, does the bug *only*
occur after having run memtester for 18h or more? This would explain why
nobody could reproduce the bug.

You probably misunderstood me. I wanted to say that this happens
regulary but the system is still able to run memtest86+ without
producing any errors for more than 18 hours, what might be a sign
that there's no problem with the RAM or whatever. Of course,
memtest86+ is not run at the same time as Metacity is run, but on the
same system.

Greetings,

Claudius

Hello,

when I view the changelog of a package with "C", aptitude ceases to
react to keystrokes. Moreover, when I pres C-c, it seems the
keystrokes are handled by the shell (eg. I press Up in aptitude, then
I see the previous command on the command line.

Hi,

steps to reproduce:
1. open aptitude
2. select a package to install/upgrade/remove
3. type 'g'
4. after finished the action I can push any button, but aptitude doesn't react
to the keypress.

aptitude is listed in ps with 'Sl+' (interruptible sleep, foreground process).
When sending a SIGINT (Ctrl+C), aptitude interrupts and all characters typed
beforehand are printed to the shell prompt.

I did a strace. You can find the output at
http://www.kubieziel.de/tmp/aptitude.strace.bz2> (660 kB).

Actually I'm not sure where the problem sits. If I can provide further
information, please tell me what.

Justification: Policy 2.3

centericq is distributed under the GPL. OpenSSL, which is distributed
under a non-compatible license is linked to libcurl4-openssl. centericq
should use libcurl4-gnutls. Perhaps, changing the Build-Depends would
have avoided this binNMU situation.

Discussed in http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2007/05/msg01173.html

With glibc-2.5 and gcc-4.1.2 (and gcc-4.2), the 'long double'
data type did change from a 64bit representation to a 128bit
representation on alpha, powerpc, sparc, s390. To allow
partial upgrades of packages, we will need to rename all
packages holding libraries with the long double data type in
their API. Both libc and libstdc++ do not need to be renamed,
because they support both representations. We rename the library
packages on all architectures to avoid name mismatches between
architectures (you can avoid the renaming by supporting both
datatype representations in the library as done in glibc and
libstdc++, but unless a library is prepared for that, it does not
seem to be worth the effort).

It is suggested to rename a package libfoo1 to libfoo1ldbl;
please wait with the renaming if the package depends on
another library package which needs renaming.

This package has been indentified as one with header files in
/usr/include matching 'long *double'. Please close this bug report
if it is a false positive, or rename the package accordingly.

The version you are reporting does build it, but more recent versions do not
anymore. This is no bug, so I'm hereby closing it.

Hi there!

Due to the recent removal of apache (including it's accompanied
packages of apache-common, apache-dbg, apache-dev, apache-doc,
apache-perl and apache-ssl) and libapache-mod-perl your package most
propably isn't able to get installed or built anymore. These are the
problems your package currently has:

torrus-apache (dependency): libapache-mod-perl |apache-perl (>= 1.3.31-3)

Please either send the ftp team a removal request for your package if
it isn't able to work with apache2, or update it to build (only)
packages for apache2.

 Thanks in advance,

I'd rather expect a kernel message like "Failed to load ... use modprobe

My whole intention was to backup the mtd before working with it - but
now it's trashed.

The kernel I'm using is based on the same code+patches, but with static
NFS+NIC and nfsroot support (so it'll pxeboot), otherwise it's identical
to the package. (my money is on "upstream" anyway).

Thanks,

Scott

Package: tuxguitar
Version: 0.9.1-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Hello,

I can't launch Tuxguitar. Here's a transcript:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ tuxguitar
/usr/bin/tuxguitar: line 6: /usr/lib/j2sdk1.5-sun/jre/bin/java: Aucun
fichier ou répertoire de ce type

For english speaker:
(no file or directory of this type)

In /usr/bin/tuxguitar, the JAVA variable is set to
/usr/lib/j2sdk1.5-sun/jre/bin/java:

export JAVA=/usr/lib/j2sdk1.5-sun/jre/bin/java

But on Lenny the java binary (for Sun JVM) are locate at:
 -/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.00/jre/bin/ for java 6
 -/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun-1.5.0.11/bin/ for java 5

For my own use, I changed the JAVA variable to /usr/bin/java (which is a
link to a link to java 6 VM)

But i'm not sure it will work everywhere, because /usr/bin/java could be
a link to a non-Sun JVM like Kaffe.

Cheers,

Julien

Bug#435056: nfs server hangs on /proc bind-mount

2007-07-28 Thread Aron Griffis
Package: nfs-kernel-server
Version: 1:1.1.0-11
Severity: serious

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
When a client attempts to read a bind-mounted proc directory from the
server, the server never responds. Found this with wireshark and
narrowed down to a simple test. Other bind-mounts seem to be
unaffected (tested with lvm volumes)

server
--
mkdir -p /test/proc
mount -o bind /proc /test/proc
echo '/test 10.0.0.0/16(rw,no_root_squash,async,no_subtree_check)' >>
/etc/exports
exportfs -a

client
--
mkdir /test
mount server:/test /test
/bin/ls /test # < works
/bin/ls /test/proc # < hangs

The problem goes away if I directly mount proc on /test/proc instead
of using a bind-mount.

Uhm, why do you want to export your /proc? I'm unsure if that's supported at
all. In any case, the severity massively inflated -- I assume you meant
"grave" and not "serious", but not being able to export bind-mounted /proc
surely does not make the entire package unusable or nearly so.

This package has been identified as affected by the removal of php4 in debian.

As php4 will soon be removed, it is very important that we:
 - update the dependencies of all applicable packages to coexist with php5
 - remove source and/or binary packages which have no use without php4

for more information on what may need to be done, please see

Hi there!

Due to the recent removal of apache (including it's accompanied
packages of apache-common, apache-dbg, apache-dev, apache-doc,
apache-perl and apache-ssl) and libapache-mod-perl your package most
propably isn't able to get installed or built anymore. These are the
problems your package currently has:

bandersnatch-frontend (dependency): apache

Please either send the ftp team a removal request for your package if
it isn't able to work with apache2, or update it to build (only)
packages for apache2.

 Thanks in advance,

Bug#434950: FTBFS (hppa): /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -ljpeg

2007-07-28 Thread Cyril Brulebois
dann frazier <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> (27/07/2007):
> [snip]
> /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -ljpeg
> collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

For some reasons, the hppa binary for libgd2-noxpm-dev/2.0.34-1 had some
strange Depends, see the below wdiff between e.g. the arm one and the
hppa one:
| Architecture: [-arm-] {+hppa+}
| Depends: libgd2-noxpm (= [-2.0.34-1), libc6-dev, libfreetype6-dev,
libjpeg62-dev, libpng12-0-dev, zlib1g-dev-] {+2.0.34-1)+}

(And the build logs indeed show that libfreetype6-dev and libjpeg62-dev
were missing.)

It looks like it is fixed however, in hppa libgd2-noxpm-dev/2.0.34-1+b1:
| Architecture: [-arm-] {+hppa+}
| Depends: libgd2-noxpm (= [-2.0.34-1),-] {+2.0.34-1+b1),+} libc6-dev,
libfreetype6-dev, libjpeg62-dev, libpng12-0-dev, zlib1g-dev

I believe a give-back could be sufficient, Cc'ing debian-release.

Cheers,

Hi,

I'm forwarding this to emacs22 maintainers, I guess they might want to
add a Conflicts in emacs22.

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
bigloo-devtools: Depends: libgcj7-0 (>= 4.1.1-12) but it is not installable
E: Broken packages

Hi,

it looks like the 1st binNMUs (+b1) are solving this, the appropriate
dependency on libgcj* being picked up. From[1], it appears that the
built binNMU'd packages are now depending on libgcj7-1, which is
available:

 libgcj7-1 |4.1.2-8 | unstable | mips, mipsel
 libgcj7-1 | 4.1.2-14 | unstable | alpha, amd64, i386, ia64, m68k,

It looks like this is actually no longer a problem, the FTBFS is now
caused by a missing ps2pdf. Build-Depending additionally on gs or
gs-common solves this; tagging accordingly.
