The issue can now be confirmed to be a problem specific to VBox.

I just switched the hypervisor to KVM and everything, in the same use
case, works perfect.

For vbox, I get the following. In that, the interesting line is:

Bug#749063: docker makes df horrible

I'm fairly sure Docker upstream "fixed" this particular problem by
changing the way mounts/mount namespaces are handled such that "df"
(even "df -a" as root) on the host no longer sees the mounts of all
the containers. If someone else could also confirm that their "df" /
"df -a" output is clean with a newer Docker (as mine is, on both
"overlay" and "aufs" storage backends), then I think we're probably
good to close this bug, right?

Keeping Charles in CC to enable him to insist: From my perspective it
is fine to keep the "most promising" repository. If your progress is
larger than the old repository I would not mind about its history.

Hmmm, even if I try to fetch everything we have in our tasks bcftools
seems to have slipped through. I added it right now.

Upstream said that they're planning to remove the FFmpeg dependency
for the next release, so let's do it like this:

- If there's a new upstream version I'll upload it and this patch will
  not be needed.

- If FFmpeg 2.9 is ready before that ping me when it's available in sid
and I'll immediately upload the fuse package with your patch. I have
it ready so I can do it quickly.

Does that sound good?

Is there even a pak0.pak file in Juggernaut or does it require its own
engine to run anyway?

Also, it is a pain to read through your mails and guess what you might
be talking about. Please take the time before clicking the "Send"
button to read through your text again and reconsider if what you have
written may be understandable to others. Also, some basic punctuation,
grammar and orthography won't hurt. Please note that I am not a native
English speaker, either, but I consider it disrespectful towards others
to just hack around on my keyboard and let them figure out. Thank you!

I am in the process of doing so, see my progress at:

https://github.com/teamix/fio-debian

(I am not sure I already updated the alioth repo on Debian, I may have done
so.)

I think I am almost done. I would be asking Sven Hoexter, my last sponsor, or
anyone else who is willing to help for review and uploading then.

Thanks,

Bug#804014: xserver-xorg-video-intel: [experimental] wrong resolution selected after X startup

2015-11-04 Thread Bernhard Schmidt
Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel
Version: 2:2.99.917+git20151019-1~exp1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

after upgrading xserver-xorg-video-intel on my Stretch workstation from
2:2.99.917-2 to 2:2.99.917+git20151019-1~exp1 (which solved a lot of graphics
glitches, thank you!) I am observing one new issue.

I have a Dell Latitude 7240 (native resolution 1920x1080). With the normal
display on the road it works just fine. When it is docked (lid closed, two
external displays connected through DisplayPort with native 1920x1200
resolution) the external displays come up with 1920x1080 as well, which
distorts the desktop.

I cannot select the correct resolution in the KDE software settings. I can set
the correct resolution with xrandr, but only after about 20 seconds after the
login. So it looks like the correct modes are not available directly at start.

root@BADWLRZ-CLBSC01:~# xrandr --output DP1-2 --mode 1920x1200
xrandr: cannot find mode 1920x1200
[wait a few seconds]
root@BADWLRZ-CLBSC01:~# xrandr --output DP1-2 --mode 1920x1200
root@BADWLRZ-CLBSC01:~#

Any hint how to debug this further?

Best Regards,
Bernhard

Killing the loaded node is the easiest; manual unbanning of the other nodes

Ah, I missed that: '--brief --fast' works just fine. So obviously the

Right.

Ok, I will report back the stack traces in a few days (I'm afraid I can

Bug#803012: tar ftbfs everywhere (test suite errors)

2015-11-04 Thread Gianfranco Costamagna
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA256

Hi Bdale,

I applied the patch below and tested a successful build.

Since this bug is RC and is preventing the package from migrating to
testing, and the recursive extract fixes from being included in Debian
(I'm one of the people that hits this recursive problem in my daily
job), I did prepare an NMU called 1.28-2.1 and uploaded on DELAYED/5
queue.

I also included the disable-silent-rules and the parallel builds, as
suggested in this bug report
(I know they might be out of the NMU scope, but they really help the
builders in faster builds and having some more verbosity is helpful in
debugging the builds).

Let me know if I need to delay it any longer or cancel it.

Hope this helps, I'm attaching the full debdiff to this email

Bug#758116: Bug status

2015-11-04 Thread Ole Streicher

Hi,

I am currently preparing a new Debian Pure Blend (Debian Astro), and I
am curious about the status of this bug. Is this something that is going
to be implemented in stretch? And what are currently the main obstacles?
The last entry was from one year ago -- did anything happen behind the
courtain?

I would be quite interested to get this done; being visible during the
installation is one of the motivations in creating a Blend.

Best regards

Ole

Bug#804016: ITP: libpkgconfig-perl -- Pure-Perl Core-Only replacement for pkg-config

  Description : Pure-Perl Core-Only replacement for pkg-config

PkgConfig provides a pure-perl, core-only replacement for the pkg-config
utility. While pkg-config is a compiled binary linked with glib, the pure-perl
version has no such requirement, and will run wherever Perl ( >= 5.6 ) does.
The package provides a pure perl binary called ppkg-config which can be used as
well as pkg-config.

This package is needed for libmath-gsl-perl (#804015).

I plan to maintain this package under the umbrella of the Debian Perl Group.

Reporting the Debian package version in the version report is useful,
but I didn't like that it was bundled to the reproducible patch and how
it was implemented. So the quick solution was to just remove that part
from the patch. I have nothing against adding it back as separate
patch.

I would prefer an implementation that is upstreamable. So the vendor
and package version should be injected via setup parameter (e.g. ./setu
p.py --vendor Debian --package-version 2015.8.1+ds-1). Then other
distributions could reuse it.

thanks, I committed this on the upstream pull request, giving you the commit
authorship.

While I like the solution, I'm really worried about backporting hedgewars,
(and this is why I took 55 as separator), because that way I wasn't changing
the "current" behaviour.

Now the next backports will take some new functionalities, while before they
were using a deprecated code...

This sounds scary to me, but if upstream applies the patch I have one year
until the next backport need
(I'm backporting hedgewars without the above fixes for this new release)

let me know if you can reassure me because the changes are "safe" or whatever :)

with your code $pid is never modified and contains whatever line
was read from $fh, including whitespace, other
trailing gunk and possibly a final newline.

you seem to have missed the operator precedence in the original
code; the =~ binds stronger, so the fh read result is run through the
regex first and the result of that ends in $pid. in your variant
pid is read, but the following regex-match is a nop without consequences.

Bug#804018: dpkg: provide options to avoid service startup on package installation

2015-11-04 Thread Patrick Schönfeld
Package: dpkg
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

as of today services a started once they are installed. This is a problem
in some cases, e.g. when installing and configuring a service via puppet
and/or in preparation for a HA setup.

We had a lot of discussions around this design decision in the past and I
do not want to restart that. Instead I'd like to propose a feature to
opt-out from automatic service startup by introdocution of a new dpkg
option, e.g. Dpkg::StartServices with a truthy default.

RATIONALE:
By adding a configuration option for this, we allow the administrator of a
Debian system to decide if services are started after installation or not.

It is superior to adding a command line switch only, since it allows the
admin to set this permanent and system-wide (with all its disadvantages) or
on a per-installation base (which would be suitable to be used by
configuration management systems).

Possible implementation:
Per policy 9.3.3.2 have to interface with init via invoke-rc.d for service
startup. A possible (and admittedly naive) implementation which does not
involve changes in each and every package, could possibly just let dpkg
install a policy.d layer and ensure its absence on process end. Though some
sort of IPC between invoke-rc.d and dpkg that does not involve filesystem

Bug#804019: 500 error when resending email challenge

2015-11-04 Thread Potter, Tim (Converged Cloud)
Package: nm.debian.org

Hi there. I tried to start the NM process yesterday but received a HTTP 500
error
after filling out the form and hitting submit. Today I've gone back and
discovered
that the submission mostly worked, but I never received an email to verify my
application. I clicked on the "send the email challenge again" button, but
received
the 500 error again.

Thanks,

Tim.

Description: Programmable web server written in C and Tcl

Naviserver is a programmable web server written in C and Tcl.
The implementation is high performance, but the interface is easy to
use, at both the C and Tcl level.
 Features include:
 * Hybrid multi-threaded / async architecture for easy programmer interface and
high performance
 * Threads isolated from each other with own Tcl interpreters
 * Shares data between threads easily with protected variables and caches
 * Pooled database connections (also: nsdbi)
 * Dynamic Pages in TCL (PHP- and ASP-like syntax)
 * Built-in cron-like scheduling
 * Watchdog for restarting server
 * Efficient handling for large up- and downloads (spooling and writer threads)
 * Optional non-blocking log file writing (to avoid file system latencies,
since 4.99.4)
 * Fully async drivers for HTTP and SSL (based on poll(), supporting several
1000 file descriptors, since 4.99.4)
 * Gzipped delivery of dynamic and static content (since 4.99.5)
 * Tcl configuration file

Bug#804044: network-manager-gnome: nm-connection-editor cannot edit or delete connections

2015-11-04 Thread Christoph Groth
Package: network-manager-gnome
Version: 1.0.6-2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

When running nm-connection-editor (that can be also launched by
right-clicking on the nm-applet icon and choosing "Edit Connections"),
I am unable to edit or delete existing connections (the buttons are
grayed out). I am running XFCE. My user does belong to the netdev

Workaround: I found that the problem is solved by editing
/var/lib/polkit-1/localauthority/10-vendor.d/org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.pkla
such that it reads:

Action=org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.settings.modify.system
ResultAny=yes
ResultInactive=yes
ResultActive=yes

Specifically, I had to change ResultInactive to yes. (I checked that
changing only ResultAny to yes is not sufficient.)

I have no clue about policykit, so I cannot say whether this is a
problem in network-manager-gnome or in some other package. Please
reassign this bug as necessary.

Thanks,
Christoph

Dear Maintainer,

Please consider updating freetype to the new upstream release 2.6.1.

As discussed on IRC this fixes graphical issues (very) visible in the

For reference:

12:08 < mfv> downgrading freetype2 to 2.5.x version, that is in jessie.
12:12 < mfv> or wait for freetype2 2.6.1 to be released, where the fix has been
 merged.

Bug#803881: boost: SSLv3 methods removed

> Please let me know if you need any help.

I followed up on this discussion, created a patch (NOTE: I did use
OPENSSL_NO_SSL3 instead of OPENSSL_NO_SSL3_METHOD, please tell me if I
need to use the latter, because the former was used on SSL2
deprecation patch and upstream)

I'm attaching a debdiff to this bug report and I would like to upload
in the next few days if you don't have any objections.

EDIT:
following up with the irc conversation with xnox I'm uploading
straight away, because my tests with casablanca were successful with
the new build.

I also sent the patches in
https://github.com/boostorg/asio/pull/29
https://github.com/boostorg/asio/pull/30
(after I discovered a similar patch was already there)
https://github.com/boostorg/asio/pull/23

G.

Bug#804052: ITP: ruby-classifier-reborn -- Successor of Ruby::Clasifier

2015-11-04 Thread Youhei SASAKI
Package: wnpp
Owner: Youhei SASAKI
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: ruby-classifier-reborn
  Version : 2.0.4
Upstream Author : Lucas Carlson, et al.
* URL or Web page : https://github.com/jekyll/classifier-reborn
* License : LGPL-2.1+
  Description : Successor of Ruby::Clasifier
Classifier is a general module to allow Bayesian and other types of
classifications. Classifier Reborn is a fork of original classifier
 under more active development.
 .
This package provides Bayes classifier and Latent Semantic
Indexer. Bayesian Classifiers are accurate, fast, and have modest
memory requirements. Latent Semantic Indexing engines are not as fast
or as small as Bayesian classifiers, but are more flexible, providing
fast search and clustering detection as well as semantic analysis of
the text that theoretically simulates human learning.

Bug#795436: Preferences: usability regression

2015-11-04 Thread Yuri D'Elia
Package: iceweasel
Version: 42.0-1
Followup-For: Bug #795436

I also had the same problem. inContent preferences use, for several dialogs,
fake windows that cannot be detached, that do not respect the general GTK
style, that use inferior widgets and often do not resize properly (content just
overflows or breaks when shrinked below a certain size).

It is a regression in every sense.

And now, with ff/iceweasel 42, the fallback is gone.

Oh, and meanwhile ff 42 adds a new "settings" icon in the new empty tab page,
with a *new* animation that cannot be disabled.

Way to go Mozilla.

Ubuntu uses systemd now and the upstart job has been dropped in 15.10,
it would make sense to clear that out from the Debian package too,
attached patch does that

Bug#773480: work-around

2015-11-04 Thread nsa spy
there is one work-around for this bug by installing package 'policykit-1'.
however i don't recommend changing this package to 'depends' category maybe
'suggests' category. not having 'policykit-1' loses some features like reboot
and shutdown. maybe error message should be different meaning that some
features are not available and possibility 'do not show again' option.

Bug#804056: Systemd

2015-11-04 Thread mila_s
Package: systemd
Version: jessie 8.2
Severity: critical
Date: 30 Oct 2015

After upgrade from wheezy 7.9 to jessie 8.2 *server* boot in single ro mode.
(Squeeze to Wheezy: OK)
No network services.
No remote login.
No signs of problems on monitor:
  - sysvinit leave a couple of diagnostic messages on screen (anyone can read
if server is ill)
  - systemd after upgrade - zero messages (server is OK but do not work -> it's
like Microsoft)

My solution:
  A. Back to wheezy.
  B. In file /etc/fstab: bad UUID's for root file system. (UUID changed to
/dev/sda2)
  - after reboot - problem with /etc/init.d/iptables - don't load firewall.

Upgrade to jessie: suspended.

That's perfectly fine.
If you upload a new upstream version without FFmpeg dependency, please

Also affects iceweasel 38.4.0esr-1 amd64 on sid.

Workaround is to use inkscape to regenerate the png icons: as root:

for n in 16 32 48; do inkscape -z -e
/usr/share/iceweasel/browser/chrome/icons/default/default$n.png -w $n -h
$n /usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/apps/iceweasel.svg; done

for n in 16 32 48 64 128; do inkscape -z -e
/usr/share/icons/hicolor/${n}x${n}/apps/iceweasel.png -w $n -h $n
/usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/apps/iceweasel.svg; done

To refresh the icon in the XFCE Application menu, log out and in.

Hi,

Upstream doesn't provide security updates for wine-gecko.

The source package also includes several third-party libraries which
would also need security support; these can't be replaced with the
versions in Debian because wine-gecko is cross-compiled to Windows
(it's used to provide HTML/JS support in Wine).

Stephen

The journal (inspect with `journalctl -b`) should have more information.

That is a documented change in the release notes.

I don't see this file in any debian package. Where did it come from?
Can we see its contents?

If you have the sysvinit package installed you can still boot using
sysv init adding init=/lib/sysvinit/init to your kernel command line.

I have a patch in branch fsateler/resolve in the git repository,
creating a new package.

This is documented in FFmpeg's APIchanges [1], also installed in ffmpeg-doc.

Unfortunately, you didn't copy this correctly...

You always used LIBAVCODEC_VERSION_MAJOR, while that should have been
LIBAVUTIL_VERSION_MAJOR or LIBAVFORMAT_VERSION_MAJOR.

If done correctly, it will surely work fine with Libav 0.8, which has
only libavutil 51 and libavformat 53.

Yes, these changes are safe:
 * AVPixelFormat, AV_PIX_FMT_*:
Only the names changed (due to being too generic before). The binary will be
identical.
 * av_frame_alloc/av_frame_free:
These functions are now in libavutil, while
avcodec_alloc_frame/avcodec_free_frame
were in libavcodec. Actually hedgewars used av_free to free the frames, which
can leak memory, so using the correct free function is definitely an
improvement.
 * for av_stream_get_end_pts:
This is just a getter function for pts.val, which is made private, no
functional change.

Best regards,
Andreas

I might have missed it, but I don't think anything happened.

I can certainly appreciate that. Unfortunately I don't have enough
bandwidth to keep track of or shepherd everything d-i related, and
I can't promise if/when I could look into this, sorry.

This all feels very out of scope for dpkg. More so when policy-rc.d
already supports what you seem to be asking for (as Holger also
pointed out)?

Something like this would mean encoding extremely system specific
policy into the dpkg C codebase, when dpkg has no knowledge whatsoever
on what is happening on maintainer scripts or how init scripts are
invoked or managed etc. It does not feel right.

But perhaps I'm not fully understanding your proposal?

Now that -6 is on the mirror the porter box uses I retried the build but
I still have the same build failure. So something is still missing here.

Next I'll try the test program in the upstream bug report to see if that
is fixed.
