i think the bug has been reassigned to the wrong package.
in fact in my previous posts i only mentioned that some months ago i had
filed a bug against nvidia-kernel-legacy, as a matter of fact recently
i changed again graphical card, still a nvidia one but i was using:
||/ Nome   Versione   Descrizione

ii nvidia-kernel-2.6.18-3 1.0.8776+5 NVIDIA binary kernel
module for Linux 2.6.18-3-686
and this is the package (together with all the other relevant to
nvidia) which i uninstalled two days ago in order to have xmms and the
other programs working.
as i told in my previous messages they actually did!
today i have reinstalled again nvidia-kernel-2.6.18-3 and now glxinfo is
segfaulting.
pls find herebelow the results of gdb backtrace of the
executable (/usr/bin/glxinfo):

Bug#406443: deinstallation leaves cron.daily dangling symlink

2007-01-11 Thread martin f krafft
Package: cron-apt
Version: 0.3.0
Severity: serious

On deinstallation (not purge) of cron-apt on an etch system,
/etc/cron.daily/cron-apt is left as a dangling symlink, which
breaks policy.

Please either remove the symlink on deinstallation and readd it on
reinstallation, or install a script instead which exits silently and
without error if the cron-apt binary is not present anymore.

Ok, you were right, I just remembered that I already installed 5.0.32-2
which includes a patch that fixes a regression in 5.0.32-1 which among other
things lead to the dependency as a side-effect, too.

Will be fixed in 5.0.32-2!

Bug#400914: brickos: Firmware doesn't work. RCX makes strange noise.

Indeed, brickos seems to work with gcc < 4 only. It might be due to gcc 3.x
producing smaller code, but whatever reason it is: I will try to build a proper
toolchain today and get it uploaded as soon as possible.

Bug#406424: xmms2-client-cli: Should have single-shot status command

2007-01-11 Thread Florian Ragwitz
tag + upstream confirmed
thanks

http://git.xmms.se/?p=xmms2-nano.git;a=commitdiff;h=8e60084b30c46602f7e4b04b2e1fef5a108e73ff

has a changeset that implements a toggle command for the cli interface.
That might fix your problem already.

Beside that I'll do an extension to 'xmms2 current' which will allow you
to get the current playback status using xmms2 current '${pbstatus}' or
something like that, but that'll likely take some longer as it requires
a rewrite of xmmsc_entry_format to be done properly.

Hi,

It appears that bug 323262 is still present in xserver-xorg/7.1.0-9.

Is there a reason not to apply the patch to 7.1 or was this simply an
oversight?

Thanks,

there. I'm linking this bug with the upstream bug so you'll be informed when
this bug is resolved in the Debian packages.

Bug#406444: evolution-data-server: Regular crashes in the LDAP backend

2007-01-11 Thread Josselin Mouette
Package: evolution-data-server
Version: 1.6.3-3
Severity: important
Tags: patch

evolution-data-server is crashing regularly when setup to query a LDAP
server. This is caused by missing checks, for example:
Thread 81 (Thread -1278219344 (LWP 18049)):
#0 0x in ?? ()
#1 0xb714b83d in ldap_op_finished (op=0x82616f8) at

(gdb) print op->dtor

I'm attaching a patch backporting the fixes that were applied to eds
1.8. Please apply it for etch, as it makes evolution almost unusable in
a LDAP-based corporate environment.

2007-01-11 Thread Arunan Balasubramaniam

I'm closing this bug as there have been no activity, or no response to
followup questions, and new releases of the package in question which
likely has fixed this bug or made it obsolete.

Feel free to reopen the report if you think the bug still is valid.

Sorry, I seem to have missed or forgotten to reply to your previous
follow-up.

I can't try to reproduce this as I had a HDD failure in December and am
running from a live CD right now.

From looking at packages.qa.debian.org/rhythmbox, I guess I ended up
trying the version requested when it migrated to testing on 6/11/06. I don't
remember seeing this bug after I reported it, but OTOH I wasn't trying to
reproduce it so may not have had Rhythmbox running during the upgrade.

Yes, it could be a problem with your keyboard and xorg. So it would be
good if you try with gdm.

You are misreading: in your case, "old/vacation.tailor" is the *config* file,
not a project!

A config file may contain more than one *project*, and by default tailor
performs its job on all of them, but you can explicitly list the one you want
on the command line, as the /non-option/ argument.

As said, the config file option is mandatory, except for shebang scripts.
Latest tailor should emit a clearer warning and error messages in this
situation.

hth,

Bug#406445: blosxom: wrong "img src" setting

2007-01-11 Thread Atsuhito KOHDA
Package: blosxom
Version: 2.0-14
Severity: normal

Hi, I'm a new user of blosxom and use it in static mode and found
one problem in /usr/lib/cgi-bin/blosxom.

It includes a line (line #449)
html foot http://www.blosxom.com/";>

but pb_blosxom.gif is in fact in /blosxom/images/pb_blosxom.gif
so, in case of static mode, it failed to display the gif image.

So please correct the "img src=" line to fix the problem.

Thanks your maintenance.Regards.

Yes it does: I had MonitorLayout uncommented and BIOSHotkeys commented
for quite a while and had no segfaults anymore.

If you mean the visual related warnings, those are mostly cosmetic and
harmless, see

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6624
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6689

They certainly don't prevent 32 bit ARGB visuals from working when the
Composite extension is enabled.

Yes, libX11's (lack of) error handling sucks.

It'll ultimately depend on the driver as well, but there still
infrastructural bits and pieces missing for this in the DRI.

We might be able to make a guess whether it's really necessary if you
could point us to the app in question or at least describe what it's
trying to achieve.

Hello. Yesterday I investigated on how to have a signed local repo and
it's actually quite simple:

  #!/bin/sh
  rm -f Release Release.gpg
  dpkg-scanpackages . /dev/null > Packages
  apt-ftparchive release . > Release
  gpg -abs -o Release.gpg Release

So I suppose it could be doable to add a pbuilder configuration option
to tell apt to strictly enforce archive signatures, and then one can
simply sign the local archives and add his/her key to the apt
trusted.gpg:

  gpg --export 797EBFAB -a | apt-key add

Yet, when I start xsane, after scanning for devices, it always

I can scan fine from the HP scanner if I specify it on the command

Bug#406450: perl interfaces for Postgresql

2007-01-11 Thread Matt Taggart
Package: libdbd-pg-perl
Version: 1.49-2

Reading the package descriptions for libdbd-pg-perl and libdbd-pgsql, the
difference is not clear. From reading the package copyright and README files
in the packages I determined,

libdbd-pg-perl:
Uses the perl DBI/DBD abstraction layer.
DBI's homepage is http://dbi.perl.org/
Provides the DBD::Pg perl module.
CPAN homepage is http://search.cpan.org/~dbdpg/

libdbd-pgsql:
Uses libdbi, a database-independent abstraction layer written in C, similar to
the DBI/DBD layer in Perl.
libdbi homepage is http://libdbi.sourceforge.net/
libdbd-pgsql homepage is http://libdbi-drivers.sourceforge.net/

Raphael and David,

Can you work together to differentiate the package descriptions?

I am filing this as a bug against both packages.

Bug#406447: move plugin doesn't preserve /apps/compiz/plugins/move/allscreens/options/initiate_button=Button1 setting

2007-01-11 Thread Enrico Zini
Package: compiz
Version: 0.2.2-1
Severity: normal

Hello,

I like to use my Mod4 (win) key instead of alt to drag windows, so I
went in gconf-editor and set

  /apps/compiz/plugins/move/allscreens/options/initiate_button

to Button1 instead of Button1.

It works (I happily move my windows around with Mod4+Button1 drag) but
next time I start X it'll have reverted back to Button1.

Interestingly, I changed all of the other compiz+plugin keybindings to
have instead of and they preserve the setting correctly.

I can easily work this around by running this somewhere after X starts:

  gconftool-2 -t string -s \
/apps/compiz/plugins/move/allscreens/options/initiate_button \
'Button1'

But of course this looks like a bug.

Ciao,

Enrico

Bug#406451: perl interfaces for Postgresql

2007-01-11 Thread Matt Taggart
Package: libdbd-pgsql
Version: 0.7.1-3.1

Reading the package descriptions for libdbd-pg-perl and libdbd-pgsql, the
difference is not clear. From reading the package copyright and README files
in the packages I determined,

libdbd-pg-perl:
Uses the perl DBI/DBD abstraction layer.
DBI's homepage is http://dbi.perl.org/
Provides the DBD::Pg perl module.
CPAN homepage is http://search.cpan.org/~dbdpg/

libdbd-pgsql:
Uses libdbi, a database-independent abstraction layer written in C, similar to
the DBI/DBD layer in Perl.
libdbi homepage is http://libdbi.sourceforge.net/
libdbd-pgsql homepage is http://libdbi-drivers.sourceforge.net/

Raphael and David,

Can you work together to differentiate the package descriptions?

I am filing this as a bug against both packages.

Thanks,

Bug#406453: 32bit libgtk2.0 must use /etc/gtk-2.0/gdk-pixbuf.loaders.32

2007-01-11 Thread Goswin von Brederlow
Package: libgtk2.0-0
Version: 2.8.20-3
Severity: grave

When starting a 32bit gtk program on amd64 the libgtk uses the wrong conffile:

open("/etc/gtk-2.0/gdk-pixbuf.loaders", O_RDONLY|O_LARGEFILE) = 4

Subsequently the frong modules are attempted:

(acroread:1689): GdkPixbuf-WARNING **: Error loading XPM image loader: Unable
to load image-loading module:
/usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.4.0/loaders/libpixbufloader-xpm.so:
/usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.4.0/loaders/libpixbufloader-xpm.so: cannot open shared
object file: No such file or directory) = 277

Replacing /etc/gtk-2.0/gdk-pixbuf.loaders with
/etc/gtk-2.0/gdk-pixbuf.loaders.32 [and fixing the version from 2.10.0
to 2.4.0] fixes the problem for 32bit but obviously breaks 64bit.

The proper fix, and what afaik is supposed to happen, is for the 32bit
libgtk to use /etc/gtk-2.0/gdk-pixbuf.loaders.32 if it exists and the
64bit libgtk to use /etc/gtk-2.0/gdk-pixbuf.loaders.64 if it exists.

MfG
Goswin

Bug#406455: libpango1.0-0: 32bit libpango must use /usr/lib32/pango/1.5.0/module-files.d

2007-01-11 Thread Goswin von Brederlow
Package: libpango1.0-0
Version: 1.14.8-4
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Hi,

when running 32bit applications on amd64 the wrong module files are
opened by libpango:

open("/etc/pango/pangorc", O_RDONLY|O_LARGEFILE) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or
directory)
open("/home/mrvn/.pangorc", O_RDONLY|O_LARGEFILE) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or
directory)
open("/usr/lib/pango/1.5.0/module-files.d",
O_RDONLY|O_NONBLOCK|O_LARGEFILE|O_DIRECTORY) = 5
fstat64(0x5, 0xffd9e07c)= 0
fcntl64(5, F_SETFD, FD_CLOEXEC) = 0
getdents64(5, /* 4 entries */, 4096)= 144
open("/usr/lib/pango/1.5.0/module-files.d/libpango1.0-0.modules", O_RDONLY) = 7
open("/etc/pango/pango.modules", O_RDONLY|O_NONBLOCK|O_LARGEFILE|O_DIRECTORY) =
-1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)
open("/etc/pango/pango.modules", O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or
directory)

Subsequently all the modules fail to open:

(acroread:1254): Pango-WARNING **:
/usr/lib/pango/1.5.0/modules/pango-basic-fc.so: cannot open shared object file:
No such file or directory) = 142

Replacing the /usr/lib/pango/1.5.0/module-files.d/* with
/usr/lib32/pango/1.5.0/module-files.d/* fixes this problem for 32bit
but obviously breaks 64 bit.

The proper fix, and what was afaik supposed to happen, would be for
32bit pango to use /usr/lib32/pango/1.5.0/module-files.d/ if it exists
and for 64bit pango to use /usr/lib64/pango/1.5.0/module-files.d/ if
it exists. The same holds for the other files.

MfG
Goswin

PS: I set this to grave because it makes ia32-libs-gtk unusable which
contains the pango debs. Please reassign to ia32-libs-gtk when you
fixed it instead of closing.

Yes libc6 is used by almost all programs, so most backtraces will end in
it...

Bug#383791: checkstyle: source code missing for emma.jar?

severity 383791 normal

Hi,

emma-coverage is now in Debian, so I lower the severity accordingly.

If the tarball contains jars (other than checkstyle itself) they should
probably be removed, and the orig tarball be rebuilt with a "+dfsg" suffix.

can we get a feedback on which patch we need to backport?
according to the bugreport we currently only know that 2.6.18
didn't work but that 2.6.20-rc4 does, so we definetly need more
info on which patch makes the diff.

Bug#406457: gdm: Keyboard stops responding on reboot

2007-01-11 Thread David Maslen
Package: gdm
Version: 2.16.4-1
Severity: important

When I first boot into runlevel 2 or 3 with gdm installed, the mouse
works, but I am unable to use the keyboard to enter my username and
password at the gdm prompt.

Booting into run level 1, logging in as root, then manually starting
"/etc/init.d/gdm start" works. I can then use the keyboard with GDM to login.

The keyboard always seems responsive during boot and in single user mode.

The keyboard is USB, and I have tried purging and reinstalling GDM to no
avail. X windows seems to be working as expected with startx or a
manual gdm start from root.

When the package installs there is an error message about /etc/skel
and I think /lib/gdm or /var/lib/gdm, not sure as it's quick.

A quick google search show other people have found this problem, but I
could not see a gdm bug.

Hmmm, feel kind of silly that I didn't encounter this before. Problem is
that due to the ":" the whole string is automatically linked as a page.
The bug occurs because this is not a valid page name. I'll fix both the
autolink behavior and the check for valid page names.

Bug#406458: ssh-krb5: GSSAPI authentication fails against DNS-round-robin hosts

2007-01-11 Thread Jan Iven
Package: ssh-krb5
Version: 3.8.1p1-7sarge1
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

GSSAPI authentication insists on doing a second DNS lookup when trying
to figure what credentials to get, instead of using the IP of the
currently-connected
server. For quickly-changing replies (e.g. Round-Robin
loadbalancing over DNS), this leads to getting a service ticket for the
wrong host.

This is filed in upstream openssh as
  http://bugzilla.mindrot.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1008
and includes patches (one simple, one more elaborate). Given that these
have been lingering for a while, please consider patching the Debian
version... our users really are affected by this.

jpilot already "supports" multiple running instances.
For example you can start two jpilot yourself. Using two different id is
not more different.

It has no locking mechanism AFAIK. So bad things may happen if the same
file is modified by two jpilot at the same time.

> 2) An option where database files can be given group rw permissions,

You can change the umask before starting jpilot.
Something like "umask 0002" should create files with group rw
permissions.

> 3) An option where jpilot will automatically set the group of
> database files (including new ones that it creates) to a specified group.

do:
create a familly group and add all the familly members in it
$ chgrp familly ~/.jpilot
$ chgrp -R familly ~/.jpilot
$ chmod -R g+rw ~/.jpilot
$ chmod g+s $(find  ~/.jpilot -type d)

start jpilot with
$ (umask 0002 ; jpilot)

now
- every file is in group familly with rw access for the group
- every new file will be created with group familly (chmod g+s)

After reading the source code we have a problem. The code explicitely
calls:
/* Enhance privacy by only allowing user to read & write files */
   chmod(fullname, 0600);
This will have to be removed so that the familly group can be used to
share data.

> 4) An option to select the directory in which the database resides
> (but leave the preferences in ~/.jpilot).

Why? Just store the database any where you want and create a symlink for
~/.jpilot pointing to the real location.

I will report your request upstream. And see if a safe solution is
possible.

It started on 2007-01-07, and last occurred at 2007-01-11 00:28:02.
It wasn't associated with a configuration change, as I hadn't
changed /etc/denyhosts.conf since Dec 16:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 20905 2006-12-16 21:16 /etc/denyhosts.conf

The package installation log is as follows (from /var/log/dpkg.log):

2006-12-16 21:15:08 status installed denyhosts 2.6-1

Around the time the problem stopped, I was fiddling
with spamassassin configuration, and had changed /etc/passwd,
perhaps doing something with the "nobody" user.
(at 2007-01-11 00:04).

It's odd. My best guess is that the central server sent
down some odd text, which perhaps didn't match a regex?

Bug#402451: flpsed really needs gs-esp

2007-01-11 Thread A Mennucc
[forwarding this into the bug, so it is visible from the web page as well]

I tried flpsed on a fresh install of etch and it fails as well: hence
the "confirmed" tag.

Since there is no dependency on gs, flpsed fails this requirement:
Packages must include a "Depends:" line listing any other
packages they require for operation, unless those packages are
marked "Essential: yes". Packages must include a "Pre-Depends:"
line listing any packages required by their preinst.

I already proposed a patch (1 month ago); If the mantainer does not
upload a patched version, I will NMU tomorrow.

I'm not able to reproduce your bug and I was not able to find a similar
bug in KDE's bugtracking system which is not fixed. There were many IO,
CPU and memory related bugs in the past.

Since your report is already a few years old, Do you still observe this

If this bug still happens to appear, I need some more Info. Do you use Arts?

Bug#406462: [bind backend] interprets 10m as months, not minutes, like bind does

2007-01-11 Thread Jeroen van Wolffelaar
Package: pdns-server
Version: 2.9.20-7
Severity: important

>From a zonefile:
@ IN SOA ns.A-Eskwadraat.nl. sysop.A-Eskwadraat.nl. (
2006110903 ; serial
6H ; refresh, seconds
30M ; retry, seconds
4W ; expire, seconds
1D ); minimum, seconds

However:

foo:/etc/powerdns# dig +short a-eskwadraat.nl SOA @localhost
ns.a-eskwadraat.nl. sysop.a-eskwadraat.nl. 2006110903 21600 72576000 2419200
86400

72576000 == 30 * 28 * 24 * 3600

Using bind, this is, with the exact same zonefile:
ns.a-eskwadraat.nl. sysop.a-eskwadraat.nl. 2006110903 21600 1800 2419200 86400

This (M==months, not minutes) is an interesting difference of interpretation,
potentially causing (as in my case) several refresh values to suddenly be 140
days instead of 5 minutes. Because notifies are not reliable, this is
potentially a hard thing fix, hence severity important.

Bug#406465: [bind backend] TXT record parsing overflow with special characters

2007-01-11 Thread Jeroen van Wolffelaar
Package: pdns-server
Version: 2.9.20-7
Severity: serious
Tags: security

(serious because what I see looks like a buffer overflow, however, I
didn't look into the code yet, so I make no claims as to whether this is
exploitable)

Having a TXT record in a bind-backend zone file that contains a
parentizes "(" character, causes all kinds of weird things.

Firstly, the zone fails to serve. Syslog says:
Jan 11 11:40:47 foo pdns[29515]: Zone 'a-eskwadraat.nl'
(/etc/powerdns/zonefiles/db.nl.a-eskwadraat) reloaded

but all queries including zone transfers result in servfail:
Jan 11 11:40:47 foo pdns[29515]: Not authoritative for 'foo.a-eskwadraat.nl',
sending servfail to 127.0.0.1 (recursion was desired)

After replacing

foo TXT "("

with

foo TXT "paren-open"

and reloading, I get the following:

| foo:/etc/powerdns# dig foo.a-eskwadraat.nl TXT @localhost

This is interesting, because the data listed here comes from the *old*
zonefile (afaics). Also, of course the TXT record shouldn't suddenly
contain literal zonefile data like this.

Powerdns should really treat such TXT record strings as opaque strings,
and not treat characters in them specially.

However, when I implemented the fix, it was the overly-large Debian
install of the mime-types in /etc that caused the problem as reported.

Do you have drvc.so installed correctly?

That part of the log file looks incomplete. Please provide the complete
log of the video decoder initialization in verbose mode (-v), the part
between the = signs. Also, if you could put your sample or a small part
of it up for download that would help a great deal.

Bug#406471: liblockfile1: dotlockfile leaves temp file around when interrupted

Version: 1.06.1

Hi,

given the following script:
#!/bin/bash

dotlockfile -p -l bla
sleep 30
dotlockfile -u bla

Start this script once in one shell, and one more time in a different
shell. Then, abort the second script while it is still waiting for the
first to release the lock. You'll find a file .lk$(hostname)$(number)
in the current directory.

dotlockfile should properly clean up behind itself.

Greetings

Bug#401073: redhat-cluster-source: does not repackage gnbd-kernel

2007-01-11 Thread Markus Hochholdinger
hi there,

perhaps the reason is that gnbd-kernel doesn't build against kernel 2.6.18?

The problem is, that devfs was removed from the kernel. So i checked the
source an with the following diff (removing devfs parts) i can compile the
gnbd.ko and it works very well:

$ cd redhat-cluster-1.03.00
$ diff gnbd-kernel/src/gnbd.c.original gnbd-kernel/src/gnbd.c
33d32
< #include
848d846
< .devfs_name = "gnbd_ctl",
929d926
<   devfs_mk_dir("gnbd_minor");
985d981
<   sprintf(disk->devfs_name, "gnbd_minor/%d", i);
1039d1034
<   devfs_remove("gnbd");
$

It would be nice to find this gnbd kernel module in redhat-cluster-modules and
just another manual compile would disappear for me. Thx :-)

"A_DIM is ignored" is backwards (for X terminals).
The terminal description for those do not state that the terminal
supports the feature. Masking in A_DIM will fail for the same reason
that attempting to use color on a monochrome terminal will fail.

For Linux console - whether "dim" is actually implemented appears to
depend on the configuration (and fonts ;-).

Drawing black-on-black is guaranteed to be nonportable.
Writing a terminal description that corresponds to the particular
configuration that you are attempting to support is the way to go.

What symbolic link are you talking about? drvc.so should not be a
symbolic link. Please provide 'ls -l /path/to/drvc.so'.

An AMD64 version of that codec exists, it's called drvc.so. drv4.so.*
is just the older version.

Come to think of it, the i386 version of drv4.so.6.0 should not work for
you at all. Are you running your AMD64 machine in 32 bit mode?

I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. Mailman uses this of
course, as the original bug submitter rightfully indicates. The problem
is that there's no easy way to noninteractively pass in a password when
using that function.

I agreee with Ian's original assertion that Python might be a good place
to fix this, since it would then solve the same problem for every script
using it.

Or am I missing something?

This has been registered upstream since 2002 but action has yet to be
taken. I'm marking it as such.

I'm not in favour of applying Debian-specific patches for wishlists, so
let's hope this gets integrated sometime soon :)

Bug#406469: mimms: please strip down package description

2007-01-11 Thread Filipus Klutiero
Package: mimms
Version: 2.0.1-1
Severity: wishlist

Please strip down the package description from less useful information.
For example, "Similar
functionality is available in full media player suites
such as Xine and MPlayer, but MiMMS is quick and easy
to use, and for the time being, remains a useful program."
is not useful. BTW, I would be interested to know how Xine can be used
to download MMS streams.

I suggest

MiMMS is a program that downloads streams using the MMS protocol and saves them
to a computer, as opposed to watching them live.

The rest of the information may be useful in a less prominent place,
like doc/mimms/README.

Bug#406378: gnucash: GnuCash crashes when I open an account register

Concerning #378346, Steve Langasek was able to reproduce a crash with
Gnucash on alpha and in the end we found a fix for this particular
crash which is included since gail 1.8.11-3. I see you have a later
version of the gail libs, so I think this could be a different bug, and
hence it's ok to have a new bug (this bug) to discuss your problem.

Now back to your problem, could you please install libgail-dbg and
libgtk2.0-0-dbg, launch Gnucash from a terminal, reproduce the crash,
and copy all messages printed on the terminal to this bug?
When you get the "Quit unexpectedly" popup, could you please click
the "inform the developers" button and then the "show debugging
information" button and send the complete debugging information to this
 bug?

If you're using GNOME, could you try disabling accessibility in the
GNOME preferences, logout, log back in: do you still get a crash?

   Thanks,

Do you have drvc.so installed correctly?

of cource I installed drvc.so correctly. login as root and run
"/usr/share/mplayer/scripts/binary_codecs.sh install",then the
/usr/lib/codecs is created by this script, the symbol-link is correct.

That part of the log file looks incomplete. Please provide the complete
log of the video decoder initialization in verbose mode (-v), the part
between the = signs. Also, if you could put your sample or a small part
of it up for download that would help a great deal

OK,I will give the complete log file later.
But I'm quite sure before I manually add a symbol-link like this "ln
-s /usr/lib/codecs/drvc.so /usr/lib/codecs/drv4.so.6.0",None of rmvb
files in my pc can be played but just after the symbol-link is
made, almost all the rmvb files can be correctly played by mplayer..

None of this is a correct solution.

Solution 2 is just my lazy workround for this issue, may be there are
better way such as push the maintainer of real video codecs provide
more arch specific drv4.so.6.0 besides i386 :)

Bug#406468: Please follow includes with bind-check-interval

2007-01-11 Thread Jeroen van Wolffelaar
Package: pdns-server
Version: 2.9.20-7
Severity: wishlist

With using bind-check-interval, zones are automatically reloaded once
their mtimes change. However, it's also possible to have $INCLUDE
statements in a zonefile, and those are not chased. This means that one
needs to touch the zone file itself to trigger a reload if you just
change one of the included files.

It'd be nice if the bind backend would maintain a list of files that
were read during parsing of a zone file, and monitor them all for
changes. I do realize though that normally the master file would be
updated anyway for the serial, but in certain in-house situations that
is not otherwise required.

#255331 should be forwarded to http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=95139
but this bug was closed (fixed?) and marked as duplicate of
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=74832.

Looks like this bug will be fixed with KDE4.

Addressing this issue was a little harder than actually expected and
resulted in a major refactoring of the daily cron job code. Can you
please try with the attached new cron script which I have commited to

Bug#399980: libxklavier -slovak keyboard in qwerty variant dosen't work and has very strange effects

2007-01-11 Thread Mgr. Peter Tuharsky

Now I change the order, because I want the sk to be the default:
Option "XkbLayout" "sk,us"

I'm afraid such configuration is not and won't be supported by xkb.

I have reported this at Xorg and received the answer, that works:
  Option "XkbLayout" "sk,us"
  Option "XkbVariant" "qwerty,"

The keyboard switching has "just worked" with Debian Sarge. I see room
for much improvement in Etch only to keep up with the old good Sarge.

Bug#406416: It'd be really nice to share access to a jpilot database

2007-01-11 Thread Greg Kochanski

4) An option to select the directory in which the database resides
(but leave the preferences in ~/.jpilot).

Why? Just store the database any where you want and create a symlink for
~/.jpilot pointing to the real location.

Why? Because you want to share the databases, but you don't
want to share user preferences.Jpilot puts them both in
the same directory. If you symlink ~/.jpilot, you share
them both. That's what I do, and it's not bad,
but it could be better.

You could do something more complicated, using
symlinks for every database file,
and a real file for the user preferences info,
but that would be a kluge.

I will report your request upstream. And see if a safe solution is
possible.

Thanks!

Your kernel is tainted, fix that.

That is right, i'm wondering how this could be appear.

# ll /dev/null
crwSrwSrw- 1 root root 1, 3 2006-12-04 13:27 /dev/null

After i correct the permissions the upgrade works.
Thanks a lot.
The only open question is why the permissions becomes an setuid bit?

I'm sorry that no-one has replied to you about this bug before. It may
come as no surprise to you that it's too late to do anything about
upgrades from woody now. I'm pretty sure that the problem is not present
in a sarge->etch upgrade, at least here it works fine. I'm taking the
liberty of closing the bug with the etch version.

If there's still a problem, please let us know.

Bug#257888: fixed

2007-01-11 Thread Bastian Venthur
Marc told me on IRC that KMail does not crash anymore. It now has an
alternative bug, but is seems not related to this one, so closing it.

Cheers,
