I reproduced the bug with version 6.8.2.dfsg.1-3 before submitting, as the pseudo-header of my bug report said. And I reproduced it today with 6.8.2.dfsg-4 . > Please upgrade to the latest version of all the X.Org packages > and try to reproduce it. To the best of my knowledge, I did that before submitting the bug in the first place. "dpkg -l '*'|grep pre1v1" returns an empty output and "dpkg -l '*'|grep 6.8.2.dfsg | awk '{print $3}'|uniq" returns only 6.8.2.dfsg.1-4. Ok, now it's getting really strange. As we allready know, the touchpad and my usb-mouse are working well together, just the up-Button (mousewheel-up) does not work and down-button is somehow mapped to mid-button. Ok first thing: it seems I have three mice attached on my laptop. Look what dmesg sais: ... alps.c: Enabling hardware tapping input: PS/2 Mouse on isa0060/serio4 input: AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint on isa0060/serio4 ... Now take a look at the output of /proc/bus/input (attached): As you can see, there seem to be three mice: usb, ps2 and alps And to round it up: allthough my touchpad is working, none of: ls /dev/input/ event0 event1 event2 event3 event4 mice mouse0 mouse1 mouse2 gives an output when I "cat /dev/input/X" it and touch my touchpad, or one of the buttons. I repeat -- NONE. > > Also, run 'startx -- -logverbose 8' and send the generated log, we'll > probably see more from that. Ok, the log is attached. Ok I really have no idea whats wrong here, but I know, that the "mousewheel" was working a year ago or so, when i manually patched in the alps-patch in the kernel and installed the synaptics-driver. I hope you can figure out the problem, and thanks again for your help Bastian X Window System Version 6.8.2 (Debian 6.8.2.dfsg.1-4 20050720150243 [EMAIL PROTECTED]) Release Date: 9 February 2005 X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0, Release 6.8.2 Build Operating System: Linux 2.6.11-1-686 i686 [ELF] Current Operating System: Linux chaos 2.6.12.2-laptop #1 Sun Jul 3 23:56:17 CEST 2005 i686 Build Date: 20 July 2005 Before reporting problems, check http://wiki.X.Org to make sure that you have the latest version. Bug#267142: posh not a /bin/sh candidate
Several DDs have said that they plan to continue to use "test -a" and "test -o" in /bin/sh scripts. Given this fact, it is necessary for reliability that all shells that are /bin/sh candidates either refrain from implementing a "test" builtin or else implement a "test" builtin compatible with /usr/bin/test. In other words, "test" cannot be "grandfathered" --- it cannot be treated as an exception to the rule that shells should implement builtins in mutually compatible ways. (Such exceptions have to be dealt with by scripts not using the options that behave differently among shells, and/or by specifying a particular shell in the shebang.) The only shell I know of that implements "test" incompatibly with /usr/bin/test is posh. (It has been alleged that different shells have different precedence rules for the logical connective options of "test", but no one has yet shown that any of the Debian shells is different from the others.) The maintainer of posh refuses to consider his shell's deviance as a bug; so the conclusion must be drawn that "posh" is not a practical /bin/sh candidate. -- Thomas Hood -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#320195: dvdauthor: Assertion failure in dvdvob.c

If a fix is returned, > I'll provide a patch and most likely, do a service release of the > package (another fix for a bug is pending in my tree). I have investigated a little further and found: - The assertion is actually triggered while processing specific VOBs, not at the end of the titleset. - Removing these specific VOBs avoids it. - Attempting to generate a DVD with one of these VOBs on its own (well, plus menus) triggers the assertion. I don't know what's special about these problematic VOBs. They were produced using mencoder with identical or at least similar options to other VOBs that don't cause problems. The warning "WARN: Video PTS does not line up on a multiple of a field." doesn't appear for all of these titles, so is probably not relevant after all. -- Ben Hutchings Hoare's Law of Large Problems: Inside every large problem is a small problem struggling to get out. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". It would seem that dvdauthor is expecting the video PTS values in the input VOB files to all be multiples of the field duration - e.g. 20ms in the case of a PAL stream (50 fields/second) - but that your VOBs do not meet that requirement. I'm not sure if that can be considered a bug. Is mencoder doing the multiplexing of the video and audio streams? If so, then the problem may be there. Does demuxing one of the troublesome VOBs and then re-multiplexing with mplex from the mjpegtools project fix the problem? I can't give you a definitive response, but the mjpegtools mplex is the reference multiplexer for use with dvdauthor - the standard response I've seen on this list (dvdauthor-developers) is to use mplex whenever these kinds of problems appear. Bug#272340: workaround
Hi, I've been "fighting" with this bug recently, and I've found that two measures should be taken: 1) I found that some structures in the main config file (namely, "Directory") were being interpreted as virtualhosts. A link done in the way that other people recommended solved it. I.e.: # cd /etc/apache2 # ln -s . /etc/apache2/conf 2) See here: https://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=12096377 Substituting the line in /etc/apache2/apache2.conf: Include /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/[^.#]* For: Include /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/* Fixes the "detection" of virtualhosts. With this, you can use the "debian way" in creating virtualhosts, i.e., using a directory to hold the config files for each. Maybe a note with this should be included in the README.Debian for the package, and the bug marked as fixed. -- Roberto Suarez Soto Allenta Consulting [EMAIL PROTECTED] www.allenta.com -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". If you want to have better features you have to wait until I have uploaded a fixed version of vserver-debiantools to unstable or you have to upgrade both vserver-debiantools and util-vserver to the ones in unstable. It can be a bit problematic. Expect a fix for that in the next few days. > > Is this bug big enough for to put an fix into stable release? > > > > > >> Possibly. Package: udev Version: 0.060-1 Severity: normal Tags: patch Hello Marco, the function make_extra_nodes() in /etc/init.d/udev is only executed properly when the current working directory is '/'. Bug#320783: Preserves date/time of files but not directories in SSH2 mode
Package: gftp Version: 2.0.18-5 Severity: minor Hi, When transferring files using SSH2 mode, the timestamps of files transferred are preserved, but not those of directories. "FTP->Options->Preserve file times" is set. Using scp directly does not have this problem (and using nautilus' SSH copying facility works correctly too), so it looks like gftp is not setting the time here. Am Dienstag, 26. Juli 2005 11:49 schrieb Dave Ewart: > I've not done a backtrace before - do you mean to just run 'strace' on > the application? No, you run the program until it crashes, then you get a corefile somewhere. To get the backtrace, you run $ gdb /path/to/prog /path/to/core Then enter backtrace and behold. This will at least tell you approximately where it crashed. To get more information you will have to rebuild the package with debugging symbols and without optimization. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Bug#320785: signing-party: gpg-key2ps doesn't use paper optimally
Package: signing-party Severity: minor The generated output file of gpg-key2ps does not use my (A4) paper optimally: it leaves blank about the 1/4 bottom of the landscape page. A dirty hack seems to be to lower the on a line containing '/numlines def' to something a bit smaller. Hi Steve, 1.1.6 will take a bit longer (maybe end of summer). I already prepared a 1.1.5-4 for upload which addresses this and other packaging related stuff. However Arnaud is currently very busy (moves to his new house) and it seems he has not yet uploaded it. I will ask him if he is able to upload soon. Bug#320786: gs-gpl: pdfwrite doesn't embed type 42 fonts
Package: gs-gpl Version: 8.15-2 Severity: normal (This bug has been reproduced on gs-esp 7.07, gs-gpl 8.15-2, gs-afpl 8.15-2, gs-afpl 8.51 (upstream) and gs-afpl CVS, but gs-gpl looks the most active, so I'm sending it here :-) ) I have a very large (~200MB) PostScript file originally exported from PageMaker 6.5, which I'd like to turn into PDF. However, this file also contains a few TrueType fonts which I'd like to embed in the PDF (subsetted), since they don't look very much like the 13 included standard fonts. However, that simply doesn't happen. The fonts _are_ there alright -- if I show the .ps file in gv, they get rendered perfectly -- but even with -dDEBUG I can't find the slightest hint that gs recognizes them. I've tried various flags; my current set goes something like this: gs-gpl -dPDFSETTINGS=/printer -dCompatibilityLevel=1.4 -dMaxSubsetPct=100 -dSubsetFonts -dEmbedAllFonts -dNOPAUSE -dBATCH -sDEVICE=pdfwrite -sOutputFile=out.pdf -c .setpdfwrite -f in.ps but pdffonts still claims the fonts aren't included (and gv, xpdf and acroread agree): name type emb sub uni object ID --- --- --- - |__TTE155C6B8T00 TrueType no no no 12 0 |__ArialMT Type 1 no no no 16 0 |__TimesNewRomanPSMT Type 1 no no no 9 0 |__TTE18B8428T00 TrueType no no no 29 0 |__TimesNewRomanPS-ItalicMT Type 1 no no no 25 0 |__TTE15655E8T00 TrueType no no no 27 0 |__Palatino-RomanType 1 no no no 56 0 (gs-esp gives me more fonts and different names, presumably since it's an older version.) The only luck I've really had is specifying all the TTE names manually in AlwaysEmbed -- in this case, they are listed as embedded (and subsetted), but are rendered as bitmaps, which doesn't really do it :-) Any good ideas? Everything I've found on the 'net says that this is just supposed to work transparently, and by looking at the PostScript file, it really looks like it defines lots of characters for the given TTE* fonts (I'm no PostScript guru, though). I can give you one of the PostScript files if you need it, but be aware that even the smallest one is quite large (~85MB after bzip2). -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.11.8 Locale: LANG=en_DK.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_DK.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages gs-gpl depends on: ii gs-common0.3.7 Common files for different Ghostsc ii libc62.3.5-1 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libgimpprint14.2.7-10The Gimp-Print printer driver libr ii libice6 6.8.2.dfsg.1-4 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libjpeg626b-10 The Independent JPEG Group's JPEG ii libpaper11.1.14-3Library for handling paper charact ii libpng12-0 1.2.8rel-1 PNG library - runtime ii libsm6 6.8.2.dfsg.1-4 X Window System Session Management ii libx11-6 6.8.2.dfsg.1-4 X Window System protocol client li ii libxext6 6.8.2.dfsg.1-4 X Window System miscellaneous exte ii libxt6 6.8.2.dfsg.1-4 X Toolkit Intrinsics ii xlibs4.3.0.dfsg.1-14 X Keyboard Extension (XKB) configu ii zlib1g 1:1.2.2-8 compression library - runtime Versions of packages gs-gpl recommends: ii gsfonts 8.14+v8.11+urw-0.2 Fonts for the Ghostscript interpre pn psfontmgr (no description available) -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
