No, I was using this experimental version the last time I ran an X
server, which is different moment than the last time I reproduced the
bug. I reproduced the bug with version 6.8.2.dfsg.1-3 before
submitting, as the pseudo-header of my bug report said. And I
reproduced it today with 6.8.2.dfsg-4 .

> Please upgrade to the latest version of all the X.Org packages

To the best of my knowledge, I did that before submitting the bug in
the first place. "dpkg -l '*'|grep pre1v1" returns an empty output and
"dpkg -l '*'|grep 6.8.2.dfsg | awk '{print $3}'|uniq" returns only
6.8.2.dfsg.1-4. I believe this ensures that all my X.Org packages are
at version 6.8.2.dfsg.1-4, which is, at time of writing, the latest.

Here is the - I believe - full list of my installed X.Org packages:

Sorry, I have no idea what to do here. Here is the output of xmodmap -pp

xmodmap -pp
There are 12 pointer buttons defined.

PhysicalButton

shall I try every permutation of 1..12 until I found the right one?

Ok, now it's getting really strange. As we allready know, the touchpad and my
usb-mouse are working well together, just the up-Button (mousewheel-up) does
not work and down-button is somehow mapped to mid-button.

Ok first thing: it seems I have three mice attached on my laptop. Look what
dmesg sais:

...
alps.c: Enabling hardware tapping
input: PS/2 Mouse on isa0060/serio4
input: AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint on isa0060/serio4
...

Now take a look at the output of /proc/bus/input (attached): As you can see,
there seem to be three mice: usb, ps2 and alps

And to round it up: allthough my touchpad is working, none of:

ls /dev/input/
event0 event1 event2 event3 event4 mice mouse0 mouse1 mouse2

gives an output when I "cat /dev/input/X" it and touch my touchpad, or one of
the buttons. I repeat -- NONE.

>
> Also, run 'startx -- -logverbose 8' and send the generated log, we'll
> probably see more from that.

Ok, the log is attached.

Ok I really have no idea whats wrong here, but I know, that the "mousewheel"
was working a year ago or so, when i manually patched in the alps-patch in
the kernel and installed the synaptics-driver.

I hope you can figure out the problem, and thanks again for your help

Bug#320746: tetex-extra: Problem with language definition in lstlang2.sty

2005-08-01 Thread Pietro Abate
Package: tetex-extra
Version: 2.0.2c-8
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

Hi,
the Ocaml definition in lstlang2.sty is broken.

a simple patch is to comment two lines as follows:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]
  {morekeywords={and,as,begin,do,done,downto,else,end,exception,for,%
  fun,function,if,in,let,match,mutable,not,of,or,prefix,rec,then,%

   sensitive,%
   morecomment=[n]{(*}{*)},%
   morestring=[b]"%
% moredelim=*[directive]\#,% <- (1)
% moredirectives={open,close,include}% <-- (2)
  }[keywords,comments,strings,directives]%

otherwise I get two different errors:
(1) ! Package Listings Error: Illegal type `directive'

or
(2) ! Package keyval Error: moredirectives undefined.

this small example will do:

\documentclass{report}
\usepackage{listings}
\begin{document}
\lstset{language=[Objective]Caml}
\end{document}

The latest version is included in teTeX-3.0 which we have packaged and
uploaded to experimental. I hope to be able to upload it to unstable
at the beginning of next week.

Please also have a look at the changes we made to updmap conffile
handling, see update-updmap(1) and

Bug#267142: posh not a /bin/sh candidate

2005-08-01 Thread Thomas Hood

Several DDs have said that they plan to continue to use "test -a"
and "test -o" in /bin/sh scripts. Given this fact, it is necessary
for reliability that all shells that are /bin/sh candidates either
refrain from implementing a "test" builtin or else implement a
"test" builtin compatible with /usr/bin/test.

In other words, "test" cannot be "grandfathered" --- it cannot be
treated as an exception to the rule that shells should implement
builtins in mutually compatible ways. (Such exceptions have to be
dealt with by scripts not using the options that behave differently
among shells, and/or by specifying a particular shell in the shebang.)

The only shell I know of that implements "test" incompatibly
with /usr/bin/test is posh. (It has been alleged that different
shells have different precedence rules for the logical connective
options of "test", but no one has yet shown that any of the Debian
shells is different from the others.) The maintainer of posh
refuses to consider his shell's deviance as a bug; so the conclusion
must be drawn that "posh" is not a practical /bin/sh candidate.

I have investigated a little further and found:
- The assertion is actually triggered while processing specific VOBs,
not at the end of the titleset.
- Removing these specific VOBs avoids it.
- Attempting to generate a DVD with one of these VOBs on its own (well,
plus menus) triggers the assertion.

I don't know what's special about these problematic VOBs. They were
produced using mencoder with identical or at least similar options to
other VOBs that don't cause problems.

The warning "WARN: Video PTS does not line up on a multiple of a field."
doesn't appear for all of these titles, so is probably not relevant
after all.

Bug#318000: amarok: same here

Same problem here. I've used arts as soundsystem and it worked very
well. But one day amarok did not start anymore -- just crashes on

After I've removed all configs of amarok, it started again but this time
with the default gstreamer as soundsystem.

Trying to put it back to arts crashes amarok instantly, when pushing
"apply".

Hi,

Please remove xfce4-themes from unstable (well and testing possibly to
actually get the new stuff into there though I'll follow this up
separately).

This package has been split and replace by xfwm4-themes and
xfce4-icon-theme and is dead upstream (i.e. it's only part of the 4.0.x
release of xfce4 in testing that we're trying to update to the 4.2.2
one that's currently in unstable).

Thanks.

Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

After "apt-get update & upgrade" this saturday, Anjuta doesn't work

It would seem that dvdauthor is expecting the video PTS values in the
input VOB files to all be multiples of the field duration - e.g. 20ms in
the case of a PAL stream (50 fields/second) - but that your VOBs do not
meet that requirement. I'm not sure if that can be considered a bug.

Is mencoder doing the multiplexing of the video and audio streams? If
so, then the problem may be there. Does demuxing one of the troublesome
VOBs and then re-multiplexing with mplex from the mjpegtools project fix
the problem?

I can't give you a definitive response, but the mjpegtools mplex is the
reference multiplexer for use with dvdauthor - the standard response
I've seen on this list (dvdauthor-developers) is to use mplex whenever
these kinds of problems appear.

Dave.

Bug#272340: workaround

2005-08-01 Thread Roberto Suarez Soto
Hi,

I've been "fighting" with this bug recently, and I've found that
two measures should be taken:

1) I found that some structures in the main config file (namely,
"Directory") were being interpreted as virtualhosts. A link done in the way
that other people recommended solved it. I.e.:

# cd /etc/apache2
# ln -s . /etc/apache2/conf

2) See here:

https://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=12096377

Substituting the line in /etc/apache2/apache2.conf:

Include /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/[^.#]*

For:

Include /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/*

Fixes the "detection" of virtualhosts. With this, you can use the
"debian way" in creating virtualhosts, i.e., using a directory to hold the
config files for each.

Maybe a note with this should be included in the README.Debian for
the package, and the bug marked as fixed.

I will. Filing bugs with inflated severities does *not* help. I am already
working on a new package and this will be fixed there, too. And anyway,
If I didn't already guess what the problem is (because I found another related
problem) your report would have been completely useless because it doesn't
tell what exactly went wrong.

Anyway, will be fixed in 1.1.4-5.

When trying to check out the repository at

Please state your architecture (i386, powerpc, etc.)? What kind of email
account
(Imap, pop, etc.) are you using?

Please backup your Junk.msf in your profile directory, so I can take a look
at it.

Then remove it and restart thunderbird ... let me know if it helped.

Bug#320702: Acknowledgement (Py-Slice Filter did not work)

Hash: SHA1

I have fixed the gimp Py-Slice filter problem by installing the package
'python2.3-gtk2' and making a soft link from
'/usr/lib/python2.3/site-packages/pygtk.py.python2.3-gtk2' to
'/usr/lib/gimp/2.0/python/pygtk.py'.

Quick fix:

apt-get install python2.3-gtk2
ln -s /usr/lib/python2.3/site-packages/pygtk.py.python2.3-gtk2
/usr/lib/gimp/2.0/python/pygtk.py

If you want to have better features you have to wait until I have uploaded
a fixed version of vserver-debiantools to unstable or you have to upgrade
both vserver-debiantools and util-vserver to the ones in unstable. It
can be a bit problematic. Expect a fix for that in the next few days.

Legacy mode is what is expected in sarge. The other method was not
tested enough to be allowed to go into stable.

This should not be a problem, but if you want to use the new
method you have to use the new method.

Bug#315158: Estimation?

Hard to say. Problem is that I am completely revamping the packaging
since I don't want to get into that upgrading-mess again. Basically
OpenLDAP 2.3 will be installable in parallel to 2.2 which requires quite
some changes.

Hi!

Here's another fix for xserver-xorg. On GNU/kFreeBSD, it obtains the list of

I have seen that this bug has gotten the tag unreproducible, which
suprises me, as I can reporduce it always:

Here more information:
First I start gdesklets from a shell:
$ echo $LANG
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
$ gdesklets start
gdesklets-daemon wird gestartet...
In 1618 Millisekunden mit dem Daemon verbunden.

(gdesklets-daemon:5166): Pango-CRITICAL **: pango_context_load_font:
assertion `pango_font_description_get_size (desc) != 0' failed

(several of these messages ...)

Then I start the gdesklet shell
$ gdesklets shell
$

Which works.

Now I start "Memo display ver 0.2.1" with a double click and the
followingRuntime Error window pops up:

Runtime Error
/usr/share/gdesklets/Displays/memo/memo.display

An error occured while executing a desklet:

TFBS Perl OO modules implement classes for the representation of objects
encountered in analysis of protein-binding sites in DNA sequences. The
objects defined by TFBS classes include:

  * pattern definition objects, currently position specific score
matrices (raw frequency, information content and position weight
matrices)with methods for interconversion between matrix types, sequence
searching with a matrix profile, sequence 'logo' drawing and matrix
manipulation;
  * a composite object representing a set of position specific score
matrices, with methods for the identification of motifs within DNA
sequences with the set of profiles from its member matrices;
  * methods for searching pairwise alignments for patterns conserved
in both sequences (phylogenetic footprinting) defined for both matrix
profile and composite (matrix set) objects;
  * an object representing DNA binding site sequence, and an object
representing sets of DNA binding sequences, with methods and helper
classes to facilitate scanning, filtering and statistical analyses;
  * an object representing a pair of DNA binding site sequences, and
an object representing a set of such pairs, for storage, manipulation
and analysis of phylogenetic footprinting searches;
  * database interfaces to relational, flat file and WWW database of
position-specifc score matrices, with methods for searching existing
databases, as well as creating new ones containing user-defined
matrices.
  * interfaces to matrix pattern generating programs

The modules within the TFBS set are fully integrated and compatible with
Bioperl.

Description : Accessible (queryable, serializable object) result
collector for Test::Harness::Straps runs

This module is a subclass of Test::Harness::Straps. It uses callbacks in
the straps object to construct a deep structure, with all the data known
about a test run accessible within. It's purpose is to ease the
processing of test data, for the purpose of generating reports, or
something like that. The niche it fills is creating a way to access test
run data, both from a serialized and a real source, and to ease the
querying of this data.

Bug#320776: missing slash in make_extra_nodes() of /etc/init.d/udev

2005-08-01 Thread Bernd Schubert
Package: udev
Version: 0.060-1
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

Hello Marco,

the function make_extra_nodes() in /etc/init.d/udev is only executed
properly when the current working directory is '/'. This is just due to
a missing slash on checking for /etc/udev/links.conf (in the script this
is etc/udev/links.conf). Somehow *some*, but not all of our clients
therefor don't execute this function. It seems all version of udev,
including sarge, are affected.

Cheers,
Bernd

I'm a bit surprised this could just be a locale problem.
Could you perform once again the reinstallation with the old locale,
just to see if that makes the bug come back?

Thanks.

Petal is a XML based templating engine that is able to process any kind

Page Templates TAL specification, it is very well suited for the
creation of WYSIWYG XHTML editable templates. The idea is to further
enforce the separation of logic from presentation. With Petal, graphic
designers can use their favorite WYSIWYG editor to easily edit templates
without having to worry about the loops and ifs which happen behind the

Running xine with the video switched to xshm does show the video. So it

configure it after the reboot (this is a known issue, I've read on the
webpage).
II. The base system didn't install, because:
  1. Deboostrap error: no such script /usr/lib/debootstrap/scripts/etch
solution: I copied the /usr/lib/debootstrap/scripts/sid to etch
  2. Couldn't download:
at, exim4, ipchains, mailx, exim4-config, exim4-base, exim4-daemon-light
note: the packages aren't on the netinst CD!
solution: I removed the packages from the install script
  3. Couldn't meet dependencies of initrd-tools:
cramfsprogs, dash missing from the install script
solution: I added those packages to the install script
  4. Couldn't meet dependencies of whiptail and other packages that
depend on libslang2
solution: I added libslang2 to the install script

III. Apt-setup should ask if I want to add more sources when adding an
http source, but instead it just went to the next step(choosing packages
to install)
solution: I added the local mirrors, and cdroms first,(in this case
apt-setup asked me if I want more sources added) and then the
http source

Note: when I downloaded the netinst CD image yesterday it was the
newest, today I see that a new one has been added, I haven't tested that
one. You can see the URL of the CD I tested on top

Thanks you,
Edwin

Bug#320782: cacti: Fails to run because adodb.inc.php has moved

2005-08-01 Thread Loïc Lefort
Package: cacti
Version: 0.8.6f-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Latest update of libphp-adodb (4.64-1) changed adodb.inc.php location
from /usr/share/adodb to /usr/share/php/adodb.
Changing adodb path in /usr/share/cacti/site/include/config.php makes
cacti work again.

Bug#320783: Preserves date/time of files but not directories in SSH2 mode

2005-08-01 Thread Matthew Newton
Package: gftp
Version: 2.0.18-5
Severity: minor

Hi,

When transferring files using SSH2 mode, the timestamps of files
transferred are preserved, but not those of directories.
"FTP->Options->Preserve file times" is set.

Using scp directly does not have this problem (and using nautilus' SSH
copying facility works correctly too), so it looks like gftp is not
setting the time here.

Is this a bug or a feature? ;-)

Thanks

Matthew

Hello,

Please consider prioritizing this bug, since we can't get a first
build of xorg-x11 on SPARC until it gets fixed (previously we were
bitten by #318979). I'm bumping the severity to serious with the
  approval of the Release Team.

No, you run the program until it crashes, then you get a corefile somewhere.
To get the backtrace, you run

$ gdb /path/to/prog /path/to/core

Then enter

backtrace

and behold.

This will at least tell you approximately where it crashed. To get more
information you will have to rebuild the package with debugging symbols and
without optimization.

Bug#320785: signing-party: gpg-key2ps doesn't use paper optimally

2005-08-01 Thread Jaap Eldering
Package: signing-party
Severity: minor

The generated output file of gpg-key2ps does not use my (A4) paper
optimally: it leaves blank about the 1/4 bottom of the landscape page.

A dirty hack seems to be to lower the on a line containing
'/numlines def' to something a bit smaller. However I'm not at
all into postscript programming, so I have no idea whether this is the
right method.

Jaap

Hi Steve,

1.1.6 will take a bit longer (maybe end of summer). I already prepared
a 1.1.5-4 for upload which addresses this and other packaging related
stuff. However Arnaud is currently very busy (moves to his new house)
and it seems he has not yet uploaded it.

I will ask him if he is able to upload soon.

Thanks,

The libpetal-perl package already exists in the archive, it is at
version 2.05-2 and is currently maintained by the Debian QA Group. Are
you willing to take over maintenance of this package?

Bug#320786: gs-gpl: pdfwrite doesn't embed type 42 fonts

2005-08-01 Thread Steinar H. Gunderson
Package: gs-gpl
Version: 8.15-2
Severity: normal

(This bug has been reproduced on gs-esp 7.07, gs-gpl 8.15-2, gs-afpl
8.15-2, gs-afpl 8.51 (upstream) and gs-afpl CVS, but gs-gpl looks the
most active, so I'm sending it here :-) )

I have a very large (~200MB) PostScript file originally exported from
PageMaker 6.5, which I'd like to turn into PDF. However, this file also
contains a few TrueType fonts which I'd like to embed in the PDF
(subsetted), since they don't look very much like the 13 included
standard fonts. However, that simply doesn't happen.

The fonts _are_ there alright -- if I show the .ps file in gv, they get
rendered perfectly -- but even with -dDEBUG I can't find the slightest
hint that gs recognizes them. I've tried various flags; my current set
goes something like this:

  gs-gpl -dPDFSETTINGS=/printer -dCompatibilityLevel=1.4
  -dMaxSubsetPct=100 -dSubsetFonts -dEmbedAllFonts -dNOPAUSE -dBATCH
  -sDEVICE=pdfwrite -sOutputFile=out.pdf -c .setpdfwrite -f in.ps

but pdffonts still claims the fonts aren't included (and gv, xpdf and
acroread agree):

name type emb sub uni object ID
    --- --- --- -
  |__TTE155C6B8T00 TrueType no no no 12 0
  |__ArialMT Type 1 no no no 16 0
  |__TimesNewRomanPSMT Type 1 no no no 9 0
  |__TTE18B8428T00 TrueType no no no 29 0
  |__TimesNewRomanPS-ItalicMT Type 1 no no no 25 0
  |__TTE15655E8T00 TrueType no no no 27 0
  |__Palatino-RomanType 1 no no no 56 0

(gs-esp gives me more fonts and different names, presumably since it's
an older version.)

The only luck I've really had is specifying all the TTE names manually
in AlwaysEmbed -- in this case, they are listed as embedded (and
subsetted), but are rendered as bitmaps, which doesn't really do it :-)

Any good ideas? Everything I've found on the 'net says that this is just
supposed to work transparently, and by looking at the PostScript file,
it really looks like it defines lots of characters for the given TTE*
fonts (I'm no PostScript guru, though). I can give you one of the PostScript
files if you need it, but be aware that even the smallest one is quite
large (~85MB after bzip2).

Python 2.3.5 crashes on Debian testing on Pentium 4. It crashes when the

I'm not sure under which circumstances it would call that function. Do you
use Unicode anywhere, either on the server or on the client?
