debian.ch created some T-Shirts with two different logos, you can see

I brought 30 of them here at DebConf8, 15 for each logo, but no size S,

are $50 for .ar people and $70 for all the rest.

Thx, bye,

I am going to try to make 1st floor non-smoking space today. And

Of course I meant the hacklab, which has been declared non-smoking
per my request as of yesterday. It still stinks a bit but I think
it'll do. Hope this is ok.

[Debconf-discuss] Cheese&Wine project progress report

2008-08-11 Thread Christian Perrier

> We'll do some mini-shopping as of tomorrow (Monday) morning to get
> glasses (plastic), plates, etc.

Shopping done this morning, thanks to Moray, Nicolas and "damn we
forgot you to ask your name" who helped us with the local language,
without which we would never have spotted a panaderia.

We have plastic glasses for the various liquids, plastic plates for
the cheese and napkins for participants to carry all this.

The only remaining stuff needed will be knives for cutting the cheese
(at least those that don't escape themselves from boxes).

So, everything is settled for the 4th release of the Debian
Cheese&Wine party.

Participants, please bring your liquid and solid stuff around 22:45 at
1st floor hacklab, close to the bar.

Anyone wanting to complete the set of material can easily go to the
supermarket which, IIRC, lies in the 1st or 2nd street you cross when
exiting left to the hotel, about 2 blocks away. They have a fairly
good set of Argentinian (and some chilean) wines, as well as a good
assortment of liquors.

Care to put this on the bottom of the Wiki? (In case you wonder why I
don't do this:
I'd like a review first, because it is a "works for me" solution.)

Thanks for bringing this up

PS: I also noticed that my favourite bright text on dark background works not

I'll be in Buenos Aires from Sunday to Saturday. I'll be doing some
shopping and walking around, as well as attending to a preparatory
event to the ECPAT International III world congress [0].

I intend to buy all what I can find by Borges, Cortázar and whatever I
get by García Márquez in spanish.

Tips welcome too!

I've seen two bookstores in MDQ, one is in Peatonal San Martín (exit the
hotel to your left, walk down two blocks and then to the left again in
the big commercial boulevard) and the other one is in Los Gallegos which
is in Rivadavia 3050 (exit the hotel to your left, walk down one block
and then to the left again -- some ten blocks ahead)

If this is the same supermarket that we visited: turn left out of the hotel,
turn left again at the first street (Rivadavia), and walk down about one
block, you'll find the supermarket on your left.

I've got 1024x768 and initially the laptop didn't send a signal - a
reboot was needed. :-(

After the reboot with the cable attached, I'm able to disconnect and
reconnect without problems.

Nothing I do with xrandr has any effect whatsoever on the actual image
displayed which is cropped at the left and right edges by just enough to
stop the paragraphs being readable.

$ xrandr --verbose --output VGA --mode 1280x800 --auto
screen 0: 320x200 84x52 mm 96.09dpi

$ xrandr --verbose --output VGA --mode 1024x768 --auto
screen 0: 320x200 84x52 mm 96.09dpi

Using the overscan button on the remote also has no effect on the
display.

[Debconf-discuss] Reminder: BOF "Best practises in team-maintaining packages"

2008-08-11 Thread gregor herrmann
Hi,

just a short reminder:

If you are interested in attending the BOF "Best practises in
team-maintaining packages" [0] please don't forget to take a look at the
preparatory questions I've posted to the list earlier (and are also
available as an attachment to the event description in pentabarf):

http://lists.debconf.org/lurker/message/20080712.235543.c0310e7e.en.html
https://penta.debconf.org/penta/schedule/dc8/event/238.en.html

Please take a few minutes to prepare a "mini-presentation" for your
team; don't be scared by the amount of questions, they are just meant
as a guideline for your preparation.

A short word of caution: this will really be a BOF and not a
talk-in-disguise; it relies on the inputs of the participants which
will be the base for discussing "models of good practise" and areas of
challenges.

Cheers,
gregor

The above should work on any laptop with an intel chipset, provided you
remove the '--mode 1280x800' in the first invocation to let xrandr
choose the preferred (native) mode. The radeon and radeonhd drivers use
different names for the outputs, IIRC, so would need minor changes to
the script.

[Debconf-discuss] Future DebConf proposals - resource usage

2008-08-11 Thread Joerg Jaspert
Hi

in case you (seriously) want to present a location for a future DebConf
and want to have a mailinglist or website available:

DebConf does provide the space / resources for it, if you want them. You
can have hostnames out of the debconf.net domain, either pointing at you
or also including hosting. You can also have mailinglists run by DebConf
to coordinate your effort.

List and hostnames have to reflect your proposal.
