Stus-List Wheel replacement C&C35 mk3

2016-01-04 Thread Chuck Saur via CnC-List
Hello listers after a year's sabbatical from this list. My 35-3 has an
Edson 36" six-spoke flat wheel with 1" straight hub. (maybe all are same)

Here's a confession: I have suffered from wheel envy, and recently
purchased an old 44" Yacht Specialties wheel on ebay. It has similar, but
not quite, same hub and keyway dimensions. The hole in the hub of the YS is
a tiny fraction smaller than Edson shaft. It will part-way fit, but the
diameter of the hub hole needs a shave.

Aside from just looking cool-er, (to me) I removed my 'camel hump' and sit
to the side of the helm and this refit will make steering really nice.

Anyone out there who might have switched wheels with any experience and/or
advice on who, where or how to get this a proper fit? (I have an idea
and am searching for machine shops but wonder if there are some who have
done this)

Also...I might have a 36" Edson for sale if this works...

Stus-List Wheel replacement C&C35 mk3

2016-01-06 Thread Chuck Saur via CnC-List
Thanks all for info and perspectives on the retro-wheel-fit. Chuck G,
thanks for the Edson help. The ebay pic showed the wheel on an Edson ped
but you may be right on with the metric possibility. I will not modify the
hub shaft. I will toy around with the wheel. I have an additional Edson
shaft (changed it out to accept a new raymarine autopilot) I will take them
both to a shop...

Thanks again.

Stus-List Vessel Documentation

2016-01-13 Thread Chuck Saur via CnC-List
Greetings from frozen north...

I have not permanently displayed my USCG vessel documentation numbers in my
cabin. If anyone is documented, do you have advice, suggestion, experience
and/or pics you could share for doing this? I have seen some poor
examples, and am puzzled as to where to display these on my 35 mk3? Help?
Thanks!!

Stus-List Vessel Documentation

2016-01-14 Thread Chuck Saur via CnC-List
We had a wait of approx. 3 months when we applied for our documentation
transfer after purchasing Morning Sky (new name). We received a letter
from USCG verifying the pending app date of submission and expected wait
time. Shortly after receiving that letter, we were stopped by LOCAL
sheriff patrol for not having MI registration numbers, and showed them the
letter...which sufficed for their particular curiosity that day.

Having the letter on board denoting when you applied, and the "sorry for
the wait..." intent of the letter helped us avoid any citation...at least
for those guys on that day.

Cheers! cs

Stus-List Cruising chute tack

2016-01-14 Thread Chuck Saur via CnC-List
Ok...the thermometer just hit 30 and I'm all in thinking about getting the
boat chores done...

So a question: I purchased a new asymmetrical cruising chute last year.
Of you experts out there with cruisin' chutes...what is your arrangement
for securing the tack at the bow of the boat? Years ago, with hank-on
sails, wire forestay and a downhaul with single snapshackle to forestay, I
could attach the chute to the forestay easily, and actually tack with the
chute going under the forestay (old Columbia 26-2).

I have seen the tacking sleeve used on some boats, and certainly have a
regular and whisker poles, but are there other creative ways to attach and
rig a cruising chute on a 35-3 or others? Thanks in advance for keeping my
spring hallucinations going...

Stus-List Boom vanging...

2016-01-28 Thread Chuck Saur via CnC-List
Here's another post to get some experience-based advising. I am looking to
purchase a rigid boom vang to replace the topping lift (damn thang) which
is always in the way of everything. I will also replace the blocks/line I
have as manual vang. Tangs are built-in on the boom and mast base. I don't
want hydraulics, but wonder who can recommend which vang/size and other
considerations (vendor, etc) based on your purchase/use of them.

There is Forespar, Garhauer, Boomkicker, etc. Some are less expensive but
appear the same. Thoughts?

Stus-List FM antenna?

2016-03-01 Thread Chuck Saur via CnC-List
Quick survey: What are y'all using for FM antenna? I have Bluetooth,
Auxiliary inputs, iPad, GoFree (B&G Chartplotter), marina WiFi, Pandora,
and nice, new speakers. Wired for sound, I brag...

But I want to listen to good ol' FM radio sometimes, and have issues with
the single line antenna output stuffed into the back of my electro-locker.
Seems in the UP of Michigan, radio is sorta sparse, but pretty good!! Top
of mast seems optimal, but unsure of space and interference??? What and
where are you mounting something and getting best reception??

Stus-List FM antenna?

You experts are the best! I am ordering a Shakespeare antenna

Will report in May when it gets installed. Thanks guys!!

Now...has anyone replaced the indicator lights on the electrical panel (red
incandescents) with LED or similar? My little lenses have either been
bonked and freed up to fall into the abyss of the liner (and two are now
missing). Any advising out there?

Stus-List Lightning protection by design?

2016-04-28 Thread Chuck Saur via CnC-List
Hello gang. Thinking of warm weather and reading the great article on
lightning protection by Glen Miller (thank you whoever sent the link). I
could absorb most of the intent, although some of the detail was a little
over my head. One of the most critical points he made was to connect the
mast to the keel for lightning to smoothly exit, and maintain other avenues
for exit as well (chain plates, etc.). Here is the site again:

http://waeshael.com/waeshael.com/Propane_and_Lightning_files/Lightning.pdf

Now here is the question. My 35-3 has a keel bolt directly under the mast,
and the mast is stationed within an aluminum tray. Direct metal to metal
contact. So...by design, is this already a head start on proper grounding?
My keel, (like everyone else's?) has a thin sheath of glass around the
metal of the keel, but does this suffice? Hm...should I feel safer?

Seems the chainplates and toerail need connecting to ground, but did C&C
design help us out here? I always approached this topic with confusion, and
trying to get it figured out...

Stus-List wind data snafu

2016-07-22 Thread Chuck Saur via CnC-List
Hello gang...just got to boat and wind data and depth was gone on my B&G
IS40 system. I checked connection to backbone and all tight. Now here is
the first suspect issue: when I disconnect the connector from the
cups/vane to the backbone, the depth data is displayed correctly. Plug
the wind instrument back in, and poof! Depth data displays no data again.

Sounds suspiciously like a problem with my generator on the sending unit?
But why when I connect it again, the depth data is lost. All else
(autopilot, Triton 7 Chartplotter, engine, etc) is functioning properly.

We had thunderstorms in the area this week...hope not connected with
lightning!!??

Anyone up to pointing me in a direction?

Wow...almost missed a chance to brag about my boat?!! I've been trying to

Heading to Charlevoix tomorrow, then hopefully home to St Ignace. Great
week if it were October!!

My 35-3 is a 1985, and just love the boat. Never a problem, until now.
Check the rear shaft seal on the transmission. Mine developed a leak, and
although no apparent damage, need to have it fixed. Apparently a potential
issue on 30+ year old boats, so check engine oil and tranny levels and in
the bilge for drips! This is a boat that draws admiring dockwalkers
wherever we go, and even once had a ziplock bag with a "I would like to
purchase if for sale" note inside! Never before had an issue with
anything mechanical or rig, but consistently upgrading helps.
Congratulations on your boat purchase(s).

Stus-List Reinstalling plexi windows...again.

2018-03-13 Thread Chuck Saur via CnC-List
Happy spring?? I recall someone commented on priming and/or painting the
smoke-tint plexiglass edge areas, prior to installing, to hide the the VHB
and Dow 795, so all does not show through the smoke plexi against the white
cabin side along those edge areas.

I have the window dug out, whew, and cleaned up with Mechanica silicone
remover and mineral spirits. I actually lost only three patches of knuckle
skin. I have also sanded the receiving perimeter of the plexi where it will
make contact with the tape and/or paint.

I could not find the mention of the painting step in the archive. Has
anyone painted this and have advice? I purchased a can of Krylon High-bond
plastic paint in flat black. It's waiting in the barn... Thoughts?

Stus-List Traveler fit?

2018-04-14 Thread Chuck Saur via CnC-List
Hello from frozen Michigan. I am still spending my kids' inheritance on
deck hardware.

Question for 35-3 owners or others: Has anyone replaced the aging Schaefer
main traveler? What advice might you offer...Defender has a sale on Lewmar
traveler kits, size 2 which would offer enough capacity for us. But...I am
not at the boat, and wonder if the aluminum traveler bridge that houses the
current track will allow the change to Lewmar? Appears that the
car-mounted cam cleats might be obstructed by the bridge "tray" height in
the mid-section. The Lewmar track appears lower in the pictures. Current
Schaefer setup has outboard mounted cam cleats.
Any advice on replacement traveler selection?

PS...Ice fishermen are still driving trucks to shanties on Hessel Bay. Yech.

Stus-List years a C&C owner

2018-09-30 Thread Chuck Saur via CnC-List
This topic is fascinating from two perspectives for me: First, how loyal
and long-term the owners seem to be, and second, the stories about the
boats and families who own them!

I purchased my first C&C 35-3 Morning Sky (ex Pegusus) in Charlevoix, MI in
January 2013. Had her painted, and over the past 6 years have re-rigged
and upgraded most everything. My son bought her this summer when I
purchased my 37+ Daydream (ex Obsession). She'll undergo some upgrades as
well, as I continue to make poor financial decisions and spend my sons'
inheritance...

Prior to that, we owned an S-2, a Columbia and a fleet of small boats. We
always lost races back in the 80's to the C&C guys, and now we understand!

Stus-List Painting pedestal

2018-10-12 Thread Chuck Saur via CnC-List
Happy fall to all...
I have disassembled most of the Edson pedestal on my new-to-me 37+ to
replace the brake, replace the guard, install a new pod, do some rewiring,
and lube and inspect steering. So now I want to paint the old faded black
with a new shiny gloss white. I would rather do this in place, not
removing the ped. I'm fairly adept in the fine art of masking tape. The
old black powder coat is intact, sandable and prime-able.

I had the pedestal powder coated on my old 35-3 and loved the results, but
am exploring painting this one.

My question for the list-er collective expertise is what paint and/or
procedure would you recommend for this task? Anyone try this?

And additional thanks for recommending the idler wheel/bottom plate

Stus-List Air conditioner placement

2018-10-20 Thread Chuck Saur via CnC-List
Ok all you 37+ guys...the mirror discussion sparked a thought: I have air
conditioner installation located in aft cabin hanging locker, and would
like to move it to have the storage. The space under the companionway is
open. I'm thinking I could install AC unit in the space below companionway
steps. This would allow a forward-facing air duct, and if the mirror were
shortened in the aft cabin, an aft-facing duct just over the engine
compartment.

In Michigan's UP, this might just be enough to keep cool on BOTH of those
warm days. Anyone with some creative experience and/or ideas?

Stus-List Cleat covers

2016-12-17 Thread Chuck Saur via CnC-List
Good chat on both the jib fastening (I am ordering soft shackles and sheets
soon) and cleat covers...which brings up another dilemma with my rig: My
halyards run to stoppers on top of cabin, and my genoa (roller furled) is
seldom changed, and typically for a race.

I wonder if anyone has either installed a mast-located stopper or camcleat,
and line-receiver bag to get the halyard off the cabin top? This would
eliminate a "horned" cleat to foul, and be "convertible" to allow
re-rigging the halyard on cabin top for racing. If so, what mast (or deck)
mounted stopper might be used, and how have you configured it?

Apparently, the cold and snow has caused my brain to shift into
catalog/PayPal mode...

Stus-List Halyard replacement to Dyneema or similar

2017-01-24 Thread Chuck Saur via CnC-List
Greetings...just 14 weeks till launch 2017! I could not find listers'
advice/experience about changing SIZE of halyard line from current
wire/rope to Dyneema blend (looking at 3/8 Samson MLX). The halyard
sheaves appear to have enough width to handle 3/8 line; and understand the
sheaves need to be smooth to avoid chafe, which they appear to be.

Seems 3/8 MLX would have enough load capacity for each of the 3 halyards on
my 35-3. Or...is there guidance to go up to a 7/16?

Anyone with opinion?

Re: Stus-List Anyone need/want a really big wheel?

2017-02-08 Thread Chuck Saur via CnC-List
About a year ago, I had a problem with bigger-wheel envy and I asked the
list-perts here about a wheel I subsequently purchased on E-Bay. It was
less than 1/16 too small for my Edson 1" shaft and had wheel reamed at a
local machine shop (as suggested here) to fit. Went from a 36" to 44"
wheel on my 35-3.

Now the point: Absolutely best move...other than looking "correct" to my
eye, I agree with everyone here about the functional upgrade. Sailing is
much easier and more options to sit (I also removed the camel-hump).
Girlfriend would rather have the room afforded by the old wheel...so I
really like your link to the Edson rail-mounted storage clamp. Thanks.

Stus-List Solar Vent Fan on a 37/40+

2017-02-11 Thread Chuck Saur via CnC-List
My experience: When I purchased Morning Sky, the PO had installed solar
vents, one in the forward hatch, and other in the 12x17 hatch abaft of the
mast. (on my 35-3) Not a pretty solution, but appeared to work well, and
visitors commented that it didn't smell 'diesel-y'. Also, in the summer,
it kept fairly cool in there!! One vented in, the other exhausted out.

Two years ago, one of the solar vents died (intake), and after an attempted
resurrection I immediately purchased replacement. Huge noticeable
difference with the dead second fan. Would recommend this two-fan setup

Stus-List Best-est wax or other protectant

2017-04-13 Thread Chuck Saur via CnC-List
Spent some real quality boat time last week...using 1000 grit wet sandpaper
to de-oxidize my topsides (where there is no non-skid). The process was
sand...buff with buffer/oxidation remover...seal with teflon polish...and
seal/shine with wax. (Then a couple beers for the laborer...me!)

Given the time/effort/exertion factor of this, I want to know what the
gang nominates as the very best, excellent wax or sealer for topsides? I
don't want to do this again. I understand this is a topic filled with
past horrors and unfounded attribution...but what the hell. So what's your
nomination for best uv inhibiting, oxidize-busting shine-keeper for the
topsides?

Stus-List Best-est wax or other protectant

2017-04-14 Thread Chuck Saur via CnC-List
Yikes! Thanks, Bill. Yes, my labeling jargon edit button was off.
Topsides on my boat sport AwlCraft, and only get the Awlgrip protectant.
The deck and cockpit have deserved attention, but are not bad. I have read
that the sandpaper treatment is not an annual recommendation and I want to
preserve that best I can. There is still something counterintuitive about
even wet-sanding smooth fiberglass...

I did spend some of the kids' inheritance and bought Woody Wax to try on
non-skid. We'll see how that turns out. If anyone has experience with
that product, please share!?

Stus-List Icebox conversion...

2017-04-17 Thread Chuck Saur via CnC-List
I recall discussion about this, but could not find the thread.

I'm looking into icebox conversion for spring, and wondering if anyone has
recommendations? Not sure the advantages with water-cooled v. fan cooled,
except the heat buildup in the locker with compressor heated air. Other
considerations? Reliability? The obvious loss of valuable space in box for
cold plate...etc? single v. dual power? (12 volt or 12/120 volt). Would
really appreciate comment, and/or link to previous topic discussion.
Thanks...

Stus-List Deck non-skid

2017-05-06 Thread Chuck Saur via CnC-List
So...I'm looking at a hairline crack in non-skid portion of foredeck, right
at the seam where the foredeck ends and the trunk cabin begins. Needs
attention, and thinking of creating a one-inch bright gelcoat "stripe" that
follows the contour of the forward edge of the cabin. This would allow a
good fix without repainting the nonskid. All exposed smooth gelcoat is
off-white (cabin sides, etc), and the non-skid is a whiter-white. Hope
that adequately describes my dilemma...

The question: Is the non-skid portion a paint the factory applied to the
gelcoat after set up in the mold? Or is the non-skid area sprayed onto the
mold during the manufacturing process, and the silica added after? Has
anyone sanded the non-skid to see what's under there?

Stus-List List Butyl tape or is there something better?

2017-05-09 Thread Chuck Saur via CnC-List
I removed the companionway hood on Morning Sky (35-3) and resealed with
LifeSeal but wish I had used butyl. The screws seemed adequate, as there
appears no big structural issues...but there is a shallow 'crease' around
the perimeter of the hood (not the drain gutters to port and starboard)
that I have covered with rigging tape each year, and am going to caulk this
year. It just collects slime and water and sits.

Also, while I had the hood off, I noted the plexiglass slid directly on the
teak of the companionway, and there was some allowance for the installation
of a nylon plastic "cap" and still accept the thickness of the hatch
plexiglass, enabling it to glide really nice! Make sure the screws are
recessed into the nylon adequately. Looks finished as well.

Also...I am replacing several of the hood screws with snap studs to work
with the bug screens and fabric hatch cover I'm currently making. Won't
need to drill around the hatch.

Last...make sure you have clear unobstructed water drainage to the port and
starboard lateral gutters. I had a bunch of gray gunk damming the flow of
water from the hatch. Hope this experience helps...

Stus-List Universal Diesel harness upgrade

2019-11-05 Thread Chuck Saur via CnC-List
Hello from already snowy Michigan.
Seems the 1990 M-35 I have for power in my boat is, well, not really
designed well in the wiring department. I have read stuff describing it as
"dangerous" to "fatal" and worse. There appear to be two related issues:
First, that the harness is not capable of the loads to and from the
alternator, ammeter and starter, (plus glow plugs) and two, that the light
blue 'trailer harness' connectors fail and burn. I've read several posts
at different websites, and a great fix explained here:
https://marinehowto.com/universal-diesel-engine-wiring-harness-upgrade/

I wonder who on our expert list has tackled this problem. I am considering
fixing what I have, or purchasing a new gauge panel and all wiring. You can
do that from Catalina Direct and others.
Any experience or opinions from fellow Universal owners?

Re: Stus-List Instrument Cabling / Edson Pedestal Guard

2020-04-21 Thread Chuck Saur via CnC-List
Hello Edd from snowy Michigan. I added a Navpod to my helm station last
year. Also installed new (taller) guard, chrome binnacle support/spreader,
primed and painted the old black, nasty faded pedestal white, and added new
decals...along with rebuilding the brake and lubing up the steering chain
and cables/pulleys.
There were two grommeted enter/exit holes in the front of the binnacle
where I snaked the wires from my Ray Axiom9 and auto pilot control head
through the guard, down to just below the compass, to exit the guard tube
and into the binnacle. From there, running the wires down the binnacle and
into the port aft locker was easy.
I also really needed a compact drink holder in front of the helm, so I made
one out of PVC board and old smoked plexiglass left over from changing out
the cabin sidelights. The drink holder effectively hides the wires with a
carefully field-engineered-placed receiver for my cockpit table (see where
the two horizontal boards are close together-the wires are tucked in
between), and also holds a cellphone or two along with up to 4 cold
beverages. (Bell's Oberon is the official boat beer of the summer;-).
Lastly, I velcro-ed the winch handle pockets to the sides. Unobtrusive,
compact and functional. We like it, at least. I hope this pic works:

On my former boat...a 1985 35-3, I am pretty sure the hatches were all

Stus-List Stair Treads and companion way finishes

2019-01-08 Thread Chuck Saur via CnC-List
Happy New Year all. Cheers from the balmy Straits of Mackinac. My
new-to-me 37+ has a bright interior, and my sanding hand has been twitching
a bit, thinking I could re-varnish the interior starting with companionway
steps. Then, I ran across a fairly new product, apparently, called Rubbed

applied over at least 2 coats of regular-style bright varnish. Product is
water based, and the pictures, of course, look just like I would hope. Has
anyone had experience with this?

Stus-List Head plumbing...

2019-02-02 Thread Chuck Saur via CnC-List
All this chatter about plumbing raised, for me, a related question for you
37+ guys.
I am changing a leaking, not really serviceable toilet to a new one, and
plan to change the hoses as well. On the 37+ there appears to be no
factory-installed vented loop on discharge line. Not one on my ex-boat, a
35-3 either. Seems that a vented loop is recommended by toilet makers to
avoid backup when heeling.
Has anyone upgraded and installed vented loop? Or is there a rationale for
not having one on our boats? Puzzled.

Stus-List headsail, maybe 125-135?

2019-02-02 Thread Chuck Saur via CnC-List
Adding to the discussion about headsails...I purchased an old Haarstick
used #3 dubbed "bug sail" for early season sailing in northern Lake Huron.
Seems the off-balanced food chain has favored a prolific midge population
that hatches and coats nice white sails in a black smudge for about 2-3
weeks in late May and early June. The #3 also works well with higher wind
averages in early summer.

I switch to a 135 in mid-June. Love it.

Stus-List Anyone have a prop?

2019-05-28 Thread Chuck Saur via CnC-List
Thanks for all the responses and generous offers of help! I had the yard
pull DAYDREAM out this morning, and fixed the issue! Here are some key
things I learned:
-There is no mention of "numbered parts" in the original manual for the
MaxProp Classic three blade feathering prop. You need to wipe away grease,
and assure that all the part placements are matched with the numbers
stamped on the blades. (1,2 and 3). The gears, housing and blades are all
stamped with a 1-3 number and need to align, because, according to PYI,
these props prior to around 2000 builds, were basically hand made, and
tuned. This means each part has small differences that might not be
noticeable. (to someone like me...)
-When re-assembling the blades, make sure they are exactly in the same
position as when they were disassembled. (unless, as in my experience they
may have been reassembled wrong in the past...)

So...thanks again, but my prop is back, and running more smoothly than
ever...and I'm safe in our slip in St Ignace, in the Straits of Mackinac.
If you have other questions, I'll try to convey my new knowledge... Whew!!!

2023-06-26 Thread Chuck Saur via CnC-List
Hello gang...

My battery charger died this weekend. Its demise was swift, but provides
an opportunity. It was a ProMariner Sport 20amp, and apparently did a good
job. But...since I am not an expert in this field...and need to part with
boat bucks anyway, do you guys have better ideas?

I have two new group 27 combo batteries. No room for a third on my C$C
37/40+. What setups do you guys have? Thanks.

Update…and thanks for all input. I’m going with replacing my existing
charger with same. From all your suggestions I think it’s worth redesigning
my current battery system this winter. Will keep me busy…and can use this
new charger at home. Thanks again for all the input. Have a great weekend!

Stus-List Re: Broken rod rigging attachment for babystay deck at keel - 37/40+

2021-02-16 Thread Chuck Saur via CnC-List
Hello Bruce! I was told the baby stay’s primary function was to mitigate
mast pumping in a seaway and/or from harmonics. Secondary function to
assist mast bend. I know C&C skippers who don’t use it. I believe mine has
a padeye bolted or screwed into the sump and a turnbuckle to adjust. Not
structural...only to anchor the track if used.

Stus-List midship cleats on aluminum rail?

2021-03-11 Thread Chuck Saur via CnC-List
On several nasty nights I used my hefty Wichard snatch blocks for midship
tether (to keep me off the dock, attached to a neighboring spring piling)
and other times for springlines. Just clip 'em on to wherever you need on
the toerail. Works great.

Stus-List Ceramic coatings?

2021-03-17 Thread Chuck Saur via CnC-List
Has anyone tried any of the ‘new’ ceramic-based coatings that would replace
waxing the hull? Not sure if this is for real or not...promises of shiny
boat and uv protection for entire year in a bottle. (Seems I’ve heard that
one before?) Glidecoat is pricey and many products/other stuff is around
$50-100 a bottle.

Would be nice to shoot a spray as opposed to certain shoulder
impingement...any thoughts? Cheers! Chuck @Daydream 37+

Stus-List Re: UFO NOISE

2021-05-18 Thread Chuck Saur via CnC-List
Do you have a topping lift? I was accidentally tightening my main sheet to
stop the boom vang squeak...and was tuning my topping lift like a guitar
string. Another experience with neighboring boat had a in-mast furler
groove make spooky notes like a flute when wind hit just right angle. Your
results may vary...😎

Stus-List Re: Accessing A/C unit behind stairs of a 37/40+

2021-06-17 Thread Chuck Saur via CnC-List
Hi Bruce! I have had the stairs and engine compartment off. The stairs and
top are mounted together. Remove stair brackets at top of companionway.
There are screws shot upwards into the top from above the engine thru two
cross-pieces. IIRC correctly. You need to remove any soundproofing to find
screws. The stairs are screwed in from beneath as well. Mine came off in
one piece. This means tour a/c unit will be there too I’m guessing… that’s
how mine worked…hope yours goes as well!

Stus-List Draft question

2024-05-06 Thread Chuck Saur via CnC-List
Hey guys...help me out? Trying to get my PHRF numbers correct, and since
Lake Michigan is getting thinner, how much water I have under my keel.
So...I've been using a 5'11" figure for our 1990 37/40+ Daydream, hull
51. I found this, and other rig measures listed on the Sailboatdata.com
website. I just saw another measurement on the CNC listserv in the 37/40+
site, and it is 5'6". In fact, all the wingy 37/40+ boats listed here have
the 5'6" draft listed.

So. I went out and measured my waterline to the floor (86"), and
subtracted the height of the block under my keel (-6"). My final
measurement is 80"...or last I did the math...a whopping draft of 6'8".
What the heck? Am I missing something?

I wonder what my PHRF oughta be...and better stay outa shallow-er areas
now!!

I asked our ex-C&C dealer here, and they guessed it might be a custom
thing. Anyone heard of this? Or have variations of the 5'6" or 5'11"?
